We were in town last week and we saw this place while we were driving down the street. The reviews were very good so we decided to stop in and I must say, this was worth that and so much more. The owner came out and he is awesome. Where can you go and get real, delicious lobster and play on a golf simulator at the same time??? All of the dishes were above average and he prepared everything fresh and to order. Even the bread on the warm lobster roll had the right crunch. Amazing experience! Lobster roll was surprisingly loaded with meat, it included sides, I chose potato salad and it was delicious as well. Co owner Tang makes her own special Thai sauce which is to die for. I wish I would have had enough room to try another sandwich. Restaurant has a golf simulator which is a neat bit of fun. I went back to The Lobster Cage in Pensacola, FL for another visit yesterday, and it was once again fantastic. The place isn't fancy, but it's clean and comfortable, with a straightforward setup that works for me. It's family-owned, and you can tell they put a lot of effort into making it a great experience. It's counter-service, but the staff is super friendly and always ready to help with suggestions. I've had the lobster bisque, that's spot on, and everything I've had here is quite good. This trip I treated myself and got the ribeye and lobster with the Thai-infused pasta with rice noodles and a tasty Thai sauce. My honey had the Lobster with Thai-infused pasta, for the first time instead of usual lobster roll. We very much enjoyed those well prepared and wonderfully seasoned general portion dishes!! I am putting it in my hot rotation of Pensacola eateries. Bottom line: I've lived in New England, had great seafood meals from Bar Harbor, ME to Key West, FL to Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco so I'm picky about seafood, but The Lobster Cage is a winner. What a cute little spot. Not too fancy, which makes it comfy and fun. The owner makes it even more like a friendly, family place. Everyone inside (and it was full) was friendly, helped us pick what we should order, and all talked to us and each other from table to table. It was like being in a local "Cheers". We ordered a cold and a hot lobster roll. We also ordered the potato salad as recommended by ALL of the other customers and the owner. It was not a mistake! It was delicious. I gave to tell you, I'm a potato salad snob. I don't like anyone's potato salad aside from my mom's and my own. But this salad was really great! Hubby and I both liked the lobster rolls and were happy with the amount of lobster on each. The bread was perfection (so good) and the perfect combination with the lobster. There was a tv to watch, pics of the menu items posted and a nice manageable menu. The owner works alone. Which works well in the small spot. The wait was super short for our food and the prices were great!! We are used to paying so much more for lobster rolls! Well worth the price and a delicious meal. Upon entering you are greeted with a limited number of tables as well as a friendly hello from the owners. Service was fast and friendly. We did have to wait several minutes for a table to free up so I suggest grabbing one if any are open. The lobster roll had large amounts of delicious lobster with creamy mayo and fresh lemon ( they also serve hot lobster rolls as well). The roll was buttery and soft with a grilled outer layer. I can't believe it took me this long to try The Lobster Cage! I've been missing out on the best lobster rolls I've had in a long, long time! I got the cold lobster roll which warms a bit in the hot split roll, and it was perfection. Tossed in only mayo, nothing else, the lobster tastes like full flavored, perfectly cooked, moist, lobster. Its a beautiful thing. And it was packed with meat. The lobster rolls we had in Boston were not nearly as good as these. My husband and son loved their warm rolls as well. And that bisque omg! I've never had bisque with so much lobster in my life. It was excellent! I also wanted to try the lobster Mac and cheese, and it was fine, but we were so stuffed we barely ate any. Stopped here on a road trip from Texas to Orlando, and I have to say we were highly impressed. Inside the restaurant is fairly small with limited seating. But it looks like most orders were to go. We ordered the warm lobster rolls, lobster bisque, lobster Mac and cheese, and the cheesecake for dessert. All the food was outstanding. There is nothing I could really do to improve it. We enjoyed it so much, that we ordered a second round of lobster rolls. And I'll say they do not skimp on the amount of lobster in any of the dishes. The staff was amazingly friendly and inviting. My husband and I love this place! The owners are so sweet and interactive. Today was our second visit, and we left very satisfied and super full. On our first visit, they had a promotional sale for only their lobster rolls, cold and hot. We got one of each, and they came with a bag of chips. Both rolls were fantastic! We tried a lobster roll at Disneyland in California, and the ones here were way better. For today's trip, we had dinner and ordered a whole bunch of food. Lobster mac and cheese, lobster and Thai pasta, lobster bisque and grilled cheese, and a berry crepe. All of the lobster dishes were amazing, especially the pasta! We did as for the pasta to be mild, as I prefer non-spicy food. There was just too much food for two adults and a 5-year-old, so we took most of everything to go, except for the crepe. We killed the crepes because one it would not be as good later and two, it was really good!! My daughter practically devoured most of it herself. Food: This place is definitely our go-to for lobster cravings. Several of our friends and neighbors have been here, and they've all enjoyed their experience. Location: It's in an older and smaller plaza, almost like a mom and pop shop, but it's nicely decorated inside. Parking is easy to get into and out of, depending on traffic on Old Palafox. Price: It's lobster. You can't expect crawfish or shrimp price at a lobster location. We thought the prices were very reasonable. $6.99 for crepes and lobster dishes starting at $16.99. Ok, I've eaten here 3 times. The people complaining about the fishy smell, that was something I noticed my first visit (the week they opened) but not since then. The good +++ This is an accurate warm buttery lobster roll as good or better than the ones I've had in Maine, and better than the other ones I've tried in Pensacola. +++ The rolls - very accurate rendition and they are having them baked locally. They toast them correctly and fresh for each order. They are slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Portion size is correct as well. +++ Generous portion of lobster, and it's definitely real lobster meat with visible chunks of claw meat. +++ Interesting menu items like crepes and Thai pasta Could be improved -- While the cold roll is good, it does seem a little heavy on the mayo. Since they are prepared when you order, ask for less if you don't want too much. -- LOVE their potato salad, and they also offer coleslaw or potato chips. BUT I would like it if I could get a small serving of the Thai pasta or mac n cheese as the side. Recommendations !! Call ahead if you're doing pickup !! The warm buttery lobster roll really is epic, you must try it! The owners are friendly and I find them interesting. My second visit I called ahead and enjoyed my roll at a table in the store. It was late in the lunch cycle (around 2pm) but the store was spotless and there was not a trace of fishiness in the air. When I entered the place, it's nice and clean with a few tables. I had called in thinking they needed to make ahead of time but she said to just come in. I placed my order and waited for a couple of minutes. I was checking out the menu and there's a couple of things I would like to try, next time. I took my order home and when I opened up, it was a large portion. It had nice chunks of lobster claw meat along with green onions, bacon bits, large bow tie pasta and a rich creamy cheese sauce.
