I stopped there for a lobster roll yesterday thinking it would be great at a seafood place. However, it was the worst I have ever had. It didn't even have any taste. It cost $16.99 without fries and the lobster was dry and overcooked. It tasted as though it had been sitting around for a while or they reheated it because I ordered it hot with butter. I will never order there again and maybe won't even ever go there again. It used to be pretty good but now the prices went up and the quality went down. Do they have a new management? This place has unbelievable fried scallops and shrimp. It's an excellent value. They give you huge portions of seafood. I highly recommend getting the fried scallops platter or the fried seafood platter. The tartar sauce is delicious, the food always comes out hot, crispy and fresh. Also, the owner of this establishment, Johnny, is one of the kindest people I've ever met. He always greets me with a smile and gives me some extras because we met at the dog park a few years ago, and despite only knowing him a short period of time, he treats me like family. This is a family owned business, and they've really shined up the place over the last few years, adding a lot of new features to the menu that are very unique, such as lobster pizza. The lobster is always fresh and delicious and the seafood here is the best you can get in the Quincy area. Also, the service is fast and efficient and the people are always friendly and polite. If you ask for extras, like lemon or mayonnaise, you get it every single time. Additionally, they have a nice little dining area that you can sit and eat out if you want to. It was Father's Day. Pop always gets to pick a lunch spot. This year he wanted fish and chips. The doctors say he needs to watch what he eats, but why deny a 91 year old what he wants? Not me. I've heard good things about The Lobster Spot. This past Spring my sister was visiting from St Louis and always searches out seafood while veered and tried their whole fried clams. She raved about the service and quality, so I figured I would give them a try. There's nothing better than good quality, locally fresh fried seafood. Figuring that the restaurant would be busy on this special day,this year we decided for Pop's comfort we would take-in, so I called in the order. I was greeted on the phone by a very courteous person and at the end of the order, she informed me that the Fire River Bridge was open, and they would not start to cook our order until it was back down. They wanted to make sure the order was nice and hot when picked up. How thoughtful! When I picked up the order, the restaurant was bustling with activity. All the staff were engaged, kind and attentive to their guests. Our order was fresh from the kitchen and indeed hot. Once home, and the feast spread out, we found it hot, fresh and delicious. The fish and clams were lightly breaded, the the quality of the chicken tenders for the grandbabies was exceptional, and the fries were cooked to perfection. Portions were generous, quality has very high, service was fast and accurate, and staff very welcoming. The Lobster Spot is now the family's go to spot for seafood! Sneaky good spot! Well, the other reviews pretty much let you know that it's awesome. This is down the street from my our apartment, and we strolled in and had the double (two lobster rolls) and clams, plus two cokes. Was about $37. We left satisfied and happy. When we got there, around noon yesterday (a Sunday), it wasn't that crowded, but when we were leaving, it filled up pretty fast! The place is authentic simple Egyptian style and run in a family welcoming atmosphere. Chef Ashraf , the owner gave us warm welcoming presenting best of his menu and it was as he promised. Excellent delicious Egyptian recipe sea Bass , cocktail seafoods soup, grilled marinated shrimp, Sayadeeya fish with rice and several small side dishes of appetizers. So you know they are fresh. This is what we ate: Lobster roll with French fries - The lobster roll is smaller then I expected. So order two lobster rolls instead of one if you are hungry. They come with French fries or chips. The roll is grilled and buttered perfectly. The lobster is good but flavorless and the lobster meat is firm but not chewy. The fries are nice and crisp. Bring cash because you get a discount and understand its a small local business. Meaning that sometimes they will run out of things. Sometimes they will not be able to do things. Overall great service and food! But it wi not always have the things when you want it, and that is not a bad thing. My husband and I are visiting from NJ and we stopped by specifically for a bowl of clam chowder. However we weren't able to order it due to some pork byproducts that were cooked with the chowder. Despite that little disappointment, we had a wonderful meal! We ordered the lobster bisque, a single lobster roll (sautéed in butter rather than mayo and celery) and the 3 way combo platter: scallops, shrimp and calamari. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted fresh!!! I've never had such delicious scallops and calamari before. The lobster roll was a little smaller than I expected for the price ($13.99) but it was still very delicious. I don't know how many times I can say "delicious" in one review, but that was my overall impression. This place is a family owned, mom and pop business, right next to the wharf.. so everything is fresh and the customer service was great. When we are back in MA, we'll definitely be back! read more

Excellent lobster roll. A couple things worth mentioning. First is that they are done perfectly - lightly toasted and buttered bread and not heavy on the mayo. Second is they are priced very well. $24 for a two rolls! I've had a single roll on the cape or the islands that wasn't even as good. I went here last night a got a regular side of fried clams. I was surprised because two people had ordered food ahead of me, but mine came out first. It makes me wonder if this was an order already for someone else or something? Anyway, the clams were 'meh'... a little soggy. Not terrible but not great for something that cost nearly $20. My biggest complaint is that I got violently ill about 6 hours after eating them... in the middle of the night. I still don't feel 'right' this morning. Bits of globby flour that hadn't been sufficiently cooked in, tasting of nothing. But I wanted to like it . . So I waited to return, in order to write this review. Next time, had a 3-way combo platter that was - well, truthfully, it was kind of skinchy. Planned to split it in two, so I ordered extra (homemade) coleslaw and tartar sauce. Everything tasted good, with whole fried clams, fish and shrimp atop a bed of french fries with the skin left on. But there were only a few clams, about a half dozen shrimp, just barely enough for two to split for dinner The french fries filled out two plates. But I waited to return before writing the review because I wanted to really like The Lobster Stop and so far, it was good, but not great. Tonight we went another way, ordering boxes (side orders): fried whole clams, fried shrimp, a "piece of fish" and a couple of coleslaws. I can tell the onion rings would have been really good if they didn't have an overwhelming smell of old frying oil and also been way oversalted. The fried clams were good, a mix of small and bigger ones - also way oversalted. The shrimp were a bit soft and really WAY oversalted. Not one or two - all of them. I don't think I've ever had fried shrimp that had been salted out of the fryer. so thoroughly. The cole slaw is pretty good. The tartar sauce is pretty good. The staff is unfailingly very pleasant and polite, unusual anywhere. But I can't keep doing this! To be so inconsistent in the food, well, I have to stop giving another chance and just say, try the fish chowder. I'd go back for that. read more

Seafood is fresh though, and for $20 you get a decent lunch of two traditional lobster rolls, bag o' Lays and a pickle. What offers a bump from the A-OK tray is the freshness of the lobster. Chicks are searching for a way out of their water cage to my split-top bun within hours. No slimy, gummy, "been around a while" funk, and while the salad itself is a bit under-seasoned, a dash of salt sharpens it to perfection. Plus, Orange Crush in the cooler. Its no frills - a few tables, pay up front and they bring your food out and its paper napkins and plastic cutlery but its clean and even when it is busy, staff are friendly and efficient. Food is available to take out and there are a few tables for sitting in. OMG - I wanted lobster and lobster I got. Being Scottish, I know my seafood but this was amazing. Not one but two lobsters, so juicy and tender and with chips - the bargain price of $22.95. I think for lobster, chips, steamers (2kg for under $15 sit in), fish and chips and 3 drinks, I paid around $50-55 - amazing value. Seriously, if you are local and like your seafood, then go NOW! This place is pretty fantastic...the lobster prices are regular, the live ones! 2 lobster rolls for about 18 is pretty good. It was a bit chilled..and lots of meat! My friend and i got the combo platter of fried scallops and clams strips which comes with fries..huge...we didn't even touch the fries..we were already full...i guess it works for people who have more than 2 people..the fries will fill you up! LOADS Of fries.... Since i live closeby..i will return! Thanks groupon for introducing me to this place! This place is amazing! The food (especially the shrimp and fish filet) is delicious, their prices are reasonable (especially for good quality seafood), the restaurant is clean, and the staff is friendly and patient and willing to answer any questions you may have. There is also plenty of parking in the mini plaza it is in, which is a huge plus in the Boston, MA area. When we went here, we ordered the lobster roll, the lobster bisque, fried shrimp, and a fish filet. After we ordered, we sat ourselves in the spacious dining area. We also appreciated the fact that the food was served in a timely manner. The lobster in the lobster roll tasted very fresh. The lobster was placed inside a buttered bread where the butter flavor was quite prominent -- more prominent than desired since the butter flavor seemed to overpower the flavor of the lobster in some bites. Sadly, the roll was a lot smaller than I anticipated, so if you are hungry for lobster roll, I recommend getting 2 rolls instead of one. The fried shrimp was delicious and deemed by my fiance' as "one of the best shrimp I've ever had". They gave a generous amount of shrimp and french fries, as well as tartar sauce and a side order of coleslaw. The lobster bisque was also very good, and it had chunks of lobster in it. The soup also came with oyster crackers. The fish filet was pretty sizable and delicious, and it also came with a lemon slice and tartar sauce. A cool thing I found about the restaurant was how they have the live crab and lobster contained near the dining area. Hence, as you are ordering food or eating, you can sometimes see them take some live crab or lobster out. Overall, I enjoyed my visit to The Lobster Stop and would visit again. I recommend this place to anyone in the Boston, MA area who is craving delicious fish, shrimp, and lobster. read more
