Gas is outrageously expensive so I used to only get enough gas here to get to Costco & then fill up there. It's also very hectic trying to get in and out of this location. A small area with not enough space to safely navigate pumps, convenience store and Burger King parking and Burger King Drive-Thru traffic adds to that situation. I tried to use the air machine to fill a low tire, but my son couldn't get the machine to work. That was a little upsetting. I don't stop here anymore.

It is a classic old building, with loads of charm. We were seated in the bar area looking out on the outdoor patio. We started with the house-made smoked salmon. I have an affinity for smoked salmon, this was by far the best smoked salmon I have ever had. But wait, it got even better as it was served with house-made bread that was toasted to perfection along with a fabulous dill sauce. It was wonderful. We then shared an arugula salad with beets and many other items. It had the most amazing dressing. The freshness of the ingredients made this simple salad fabulous. For our entree we shared the catch of the day, a barramundi served with a house-made lemon caper sauce. We humbly requested to replace our sides with some roasted vegetables. The young woman who was our server (we later found out she was an owner) said she could accommodate us. The fish was amazing. The roasted vegetables that were added as an accommodation was the highlight of the meal. They were cooked to perfection, with a smoked flavor that made it taste like o was eating vegetables for the first time. I eat out often, but this is instantly one of my favorite restaurants. I can't wait to eat there again. We already have plans to eat there this Saturday as we celebrate my girlfriend's son's 12th birthday. You MUST try this restaurant as it is worth the drive.

I have stoped in here many times on my way home and if the owner is working things are great, she's very friendly, talkative, and always acomadating. However, if your unlucky and she's not there, save your time, your nothing more than a bother to the other staff. So I don't even stop any longer to take the chance. I'll stop at starbucks in Jackson where my business seems to matter to whoever is there at anytime. It's a shame that the help at The Local Bean is so worthless, I like to spend my money at the locally owned places but no more will I stop here. read more

The only exception is one younger girl who always seems friendly, welcoming, and like she actually cares about giving good customer service. The donuts are okay, but nothing special. I've also ordered the breakfast sandwiches a couple of times, and when I asked for sourdough bread, I was given wheat instead (or at least it definitely didn't seem like sourdough). I wanted to keep supporting this place since it's local, but good customer service is just as important as good food, and that's been consistently disappointing.

The cafe sits in a quiet area at the end of Main Street, so it can be somewhat easy to miss. I ordered one of their specialty drinks, dubbed The Artemus, which is a hazelnut dirty chai with caramel sauce. There were no photos on Yelp showing the current menu and prices (until now as I'm sharing a photo of the menu), so I was a bit surprised by the cost of my drink. For a small town, I wasn't expecting to pay almost $10 for my chai. Note that I'm used to higher drink prices as I have plenty of boba, but none of my boba drinks have ever cost $10, however. I took it with a grain of salt and chalked it up to supporting a local small business. The nice lady/cafe owner made my Artemus for me super quickly, as I was the only customer. Her black Lab, which was adorable, was sleeping by her desk when I walked in. Upon receiving my drink, I took a seat outside at one of the metal stools. I didn't see the bookstore featured in the Yelp photos, so next time I'll have to return to check it out. The Artemus had a good flavor and thankfully, for the price, my cup was not full of ice (like some other big chain coffee place *cough cough*). Also, the iced drinks only come in one size (20 oz). To be fair, I think the drink is worth the price as it's definitely not watered down and it's taking me a while to finish it (currently typing this review while birdwatching on our property). All in all, while the prices are a bit steep, I would still recommend Boilerworks Cafe, and it's conveniently in downtown Jackson right off the 49.
