Amazing weekend brunch menu. Beautiful patio and indoor seating. Great service! very attentive.

Don't come here if you're in a rush, there's beautiful patio seating and amazing scenery. They don't rush service. Indoor seating has dim lighting and also beautiful. The food is always good- when no one complains in a group that means the chefs are doing everything right. The grounds are beautiful--the family owning was open to allowing us to use grass and surrounding area for pictures--(check in with them beforehand if you want to do the same). They offer cake service for charge.

Food was delicious and super rich- had the stroganoff. Someone told me the portions were small but there was no way I was finishing it all after I had the minestrone soup. ((Which was also amazing)) Ambience was adorable. Our waitress didn't do a whole lot of talking ((not that I want a bunch of talking)) but even when she did talk it seemed like it was very quiet & one word answers. It took a while to get the food after ordering. Overall food was good & would go back!

I took my dear friend for brunch for her 81st birthday. This was our first visit. The hostess and servers were amazing. Very attentive, but not bothersome. The food was delicious. My friend had the spinach frittata and I had the eggs Benedict. The patio setting was beautiful and we stayed well after our meal enjoying ourselves. We definitely will return.

Dined at the Slough House Kitchen for a nice Friday date night. We arrived and were happily greeted outside by the Slough House Kitchen dog. Once inside we were greated and sat a table for two in the main area. We looked for the menu for a bit, and while doing so my girlfriend sampled the wines to pair with her dinner. Once we were ready we ordered the following: Wine: Pinot Grigio, Maggio Appetizer: Beef Tataki Main Courses: Tagliatelle alla Salsicia NY Sirloin Dessert: Coffee Crème Bûrlée All of the food was amazing, and I was pleasantly surprised about the Coffee Crème Bûrlée. I love a good Crème Bûrlée, and a coffee flavor was a new spin for me, and it was really enjoyable. Overall: Nice dinning experience with good good and nice staff.

Delicious beef stroganoff penne -- creamy, flavorful, and perfectly satisfying, best in Sacramento . Definitely recommend this place! We back for more !!!

We arrived just before opening on a Saturday for our first visit. The huge building that houses the restaurant has seemingly been lovingly refurbished and is quite charming. Nice dining room area, bar and "vinoteca" and a lovely and expansive outside patio. Service was friendly yet a bit sluggish, but not really a biggie since we were in no hurry. They were kind enough to allow us to taste the wines we ordered: sparkling for me was too sweet for my liking. They didn't have the Sangiovese the hubby desired and he didn't love the option presented, so we both pivoted to a nice Chardonnay that suited our taste just fine. We shared some Hog Island oysters on the half shell, which were delicious, as expected, but shockingly not cold. At all. Like almost warm. A little concerning. So far so good, as I write this about 6 hours post-consumption ~ hoping for the best since I'm leaving on a jet plane tomorrow! The oysters were served with a trio of sauces: a mignonette, sweet and smoky soy with sesame seeds, and a Tabasco style hot sauce plus two wedges of lemon. Two of the six succulent bivalves were topped directly with a pineapple horseradish. Nice variety. We each went with one of their open-face panini on homemade bread: he got the chicken Parmesan and I opted for the prosciutto with arugula. Very delicious and generous portions. I wouldn't hesitate to return if I found myself in the neighborhood!

Ask the Community - The Slough House Kitchen

How much is the corkage fee? Thanks

Do you serve cioppino for lunch? Is it in the regular menu?

Yes - they do. It's excellent!

    Good for kids?

I would say not for kids.. no kids menu and everything (butter, mayo, etc) made from scratch. European entrees with great wine and craft beers, no cheeseburgers and French fries.

Do you have a menu and do you have happy hour?

The have a seasonal menu that changes I believe monthly and they do not have happy hour.

Are you dog friendly on your patio?

    Do they have Happy Hour?

Not yet as they are waiting on their liquor license.

The fries had a little rosemary and also perfect. Sadly I didn't get a photo before. The waitress was exceptional, she was cheerful, kind, bright, and a real gem. We even brought friends with and did birthday parties here. Until recently we enjoyed it. Management hired a new head chef and everything went down hill. The menu no longer has food that a vast majority of people came for. They changed it to a high end 5 star type of food where there is more garnish than taste. A lot of restaurants change the menu 1 item or 2 items at a time but not an entire overhaul to a totally different style and class of menu. We asked if there were any items available from the old menu which some restaurants also can still make even if not displayed on the menu. We were rudely answered no while shaking her head with an attitude. Then asked us if we were expecting a burger, which we said something like that. She then barked back the menu is what it is and then proceeded to ask us if we wanted to leave. Well after that kinda of response we were glad to leave. As the server walked away she said very loud, almost yelling that we were leaving because we didn't want anything on the new menu. I have a feeling even the wait staff are not happy with these changes and it appears they get asked so much about it and used to people walking out that this must be starting to take its toll on staff. We won't be coming back at least as long as the head chef continues with this menu. This menu isn't what built this establishment and it is driving people away. We definitely don't have an interest to come for bingo nights anymore and our other friends that used to eat here 2-3 times a week have also stopped going. It's sad to see what a new head chef can ruin in such a short amount of time. I will update my review if and when they get rid of this chef and bring back all the previous staples that drew the crowds and until then I hope you don't lose all your staff and business of a bad management call.

If you want something made fresh; a wait is to be expected. And it was on time. BUT - it was very disappointing. 1) There was NO GARLIC on the pizza. I don't know if they 'ran out' or what... but there was absolutely no garlic of ANY KIND: chunks, shavings, minced or even flavor of garlic. What we got was a big piece of cheese bread (looked like a puddle of cheese) with a few chunks of chicken, purple onion and small bits and pieces of mushroom. The whole thing was a flavorless blob. What's odd is that when we arrived, it was still in an oven with 5 minutes left on the timer. But when we opened the box in the car - it WASN'T HOT. It was barely warm. That's a bit of a mystery. The additional Ranch sauces we bought were very RUNNY. Like milk had been added. This thing had zero flavor and was cold. Definitely not worth a 30 minute wait and $30. I've had (frozen) California Pizzas that were much better than this. We live on the South so we thought it would be a nice treat. Nope. Had to throw it out. Yes. It was that bad. Skip this place. I'd rather drive to Folsom or Sutter Creek.

Shortly after my initial visit, we ordered a few more bagels, and they were so hard they were essentially inedible. Considering the price, it was very disappointing. I first tried calling the shop but couldn't get through, so I stopped by and spoke with the owners in person. They were kind, listened to my concerns, and seemed genuinely open to feedback, which I appreciated. However, what disappointed me most was that they didn't offer to replace the bagels or provide a refund. As a customer who paid for food that wasn't edible, I felt that would have been the appropriate response. I genuinely didn't want to change my review because I know they're a newer business, but I also don't think it's right to leave a 5-star review that no longer reflects my experience. I hope they take customer feedback seriously and improve, because I really wanted this place to succeed.
