We came Friday night at 8pm, it was not a busy time. So far our experience was pleasant and we got service right away. It's a very casual dive bar style with a nice little patio up front. The bartender here sucks. She is so callous and rude. I expected southern hospitality down here and she is the complete opposite. I'm not sure why other reviews mention happy hour, because apparently that's illegal in the state of NC. They have all day specials that aren't much cheaper than their normal cocktails. First time during lunch time, we ordered a few appetizers from the menu they were all delish. I had the burger and added some avocado with sweet potatoes fries it was amazing. This place was awful! As a patron in this establishment the bartender, Briana, conveniently charged us $4.50 for shrimp tacos although the menu and online states it is $2 on Tuesday's. While confronting her about the up charge, she stated EVERY OTHER tacos were $2 and buffalo shrimp was the one for $4.50. I was conveniently charged more than the menu stated!! So we arrived to Charlotte NC on a Sunday evening after traveling for several days and decided to hit the town for a much deserved nice dinner, unfortunately the city had other plans and although it was only 9pm most places were closing soon or closed, thankfully we ran into this place. From the outside doesn't look like much specially for a fancy downtown area, as you enter it looks like your typical dive bar but it so much more. You will meet an awesome bartender that can pour some great drinks, a great chef that can really make your taste buds happy. This is a nice cool little place in which you could relax and enjoy after a long day for a reasonable and affordable price. So if you're ever in downtown Charlotte definitely stop by and eat some wings. read more

My husband and I like The Local! The atmosphere is nice for a little nightlife outing. On my last visit I see they have renovated the restrooms which are still coming together, but I see the vision. They look nice! They have good wings and I like fried pickles so I've had those also. I prefer going during the spring or summer to make use of the patio, but they had it nice and warm inside on the cold night that we decided to get out. read more

Randomly walked into this place on the way to the Hornets game. There was a young man inside playing music and a small crowd. It appeared that majority of the folks were leaving to go to the game as well. We decided to eat and drink here before going to the stadium. The bartender wasn't great nor was she bad. She didn't say much honestly and she didn't appear happy to be working. We ended up ordering honey sriracha and hot wings. Neither one do I need to come back for. Underneath the sauce the wings were bland, so disappointing. The fries were really good. We ordered tequila sunrises and mine was just nasty. I asked for more juice. The only thing I can say is that the drink specials during the week are pretty good deals. There are different specials every day. I also received a yelp coupon for checking in but I'm 2/2 this week with businesses not honoring them. Overall I wasn't impressed. Ps there are no straws. read more

So I go to the local a drunk guest attempts to drink play security I checked him and so did security when he notice the situation. Than I go to the bar and get patron and pineapple juice. The place smellled like vomit . I took my drink outside in the rain. Later that night I'm sick and vomiting. My friend I went to meet there was sicker she had more drinks and food from there. I just had one drink. Like thanks Local for getting me sick idk if it's unsanitary behind the bar or just the whole establishment. Friday night 10/22 @8:00. This was the worst experience I've had since I moved here. I saw this place on Yelp and wanted to try. This bartender-waitress was extremely rude for no reason. I think her name is Lauren from what I was told by coworker. She didn't want to answer our questions. When being overlooked and had to ask for a menu, She responded WHAT?!?! As if I was bothered her than LITERALLY threw the menu across the bar to me, OTHER PEOPLE EVEN LOOKED. I hope the owner searching the videos for her actions. I went to the other bartender to order and ask if there was an issue. After ordering I asked to speak to the manager but he was gone and no one knew where. While waiting I was being eyed down by Laura. Got my food and drink and was to go asap. Standing at the entrance of the bar by the restroom waiting on my card. Laura walks past me trying to enter the bar and because she is so disrespectful she can't say EXCUSE ME she brushes me with no apology. As this happened the manager comes in I think Baron as I explain the issue. He said he was talk to her but I don't think so. I don't know if the establishment is RACIST OR IF THE EMPLOYEE WAS RACIST OR SHE DIDN'T want to serve my boyfriend and I or what. She didn't act that way to anyone else. This was truly the worst bar I've ever been too. At the end of the night, my friend john went to ask the bouncer if he and I could go to the bathroom. The bouncer said no and we said "ok, and walked out. All of a sudden the bouncer slammed the door open and assaulted my friend. Without reason, he slammed open the door and slammed my friend to the ground. I've never seen anything like it. My friend honestly slid across the sidewalk. He acted like he was on some kind of drug and had no explanation for what he did. This was absolutely uncalled for and completely over the top. Love this place for lunch uptown - fast, affordable, and friendly. They even have healthy and vegan options, which is surprising for a "dive bar". Good beverage options as well. Service is on point. Simple loss of a star for being a bit grungy and not necessarily an A+ joint, but that's their thing, and they're not apologizing for it.
