Had some time to chill for a minute so we came here to have a drink and snack. The service was okay. If you don't have cash you have to scan a QR code to input your credit or debit card in. So if you don't like QR codes, bring cash. The food looked good. They didn't have salads or pizza so we just had drinks and tacos. Salsa, bland, chips not fresh and quacamole is not made fresh. Yes, yes ... its an airport restaurant. I'm giving it three stars because its a comfortable airport restaurant to spend some time in. I happened to have about 3 hours to spend here one morning and about half of that was hanging out at The Local. For my breakfast, I got the banana pancakes and a side of bacon. It did take a while for my order to arrive, however, I wasn't in a hurry so that wasn't an issue for me. Plus, it looked like there were only two servers working the entire restaurant so I wasn't expecting quick service. When my order finally did arrive, it was pretty good ... again, its an airport so "airport good." The pancakes were massive as was my side portion of bacon. I wasn't made at that! Pretty decent as its hard to mess up pancakes. After the food was dropped off, it did take another good chunk of time to get my bill and pay. No big whoop as I wasn't in a hurry but if you are, that is something to consider. All in all, it was an okay experience. read more

if you're stuck in any airport you know it can really be the pits. We had our flight delayed by 5 hours but was at the airport around 7 hours because I was nervous about the lines (covid). So we stopped in at The Local to have a few beers and grab a bite it eat. The beers are as expensive as expected from any airport bar and so is the food but we were pleasantly surprised that the food was actually pretty good. We got kalua pork nachos and wow they were good. The pork was well seasoned and there was a generous helping of sour cream, guacamole and cheese. You order and pay on your phone which is very convenient and if you're worried about covid there is almost no contact besides the waitresses bringing your food to you in closed take out containers. The best thing about the place is the staff. So many nice ladies work here! They checked on us constantly and gave us suggestions on every thing on the menu. If you're stuck in the airport check this place out. There might be a line because they operate at half capacity but if you have time to kill then it is worth it! She had little Christmas ears on and was EXTREMELY attentive to our table. The food was mediocre at best, but the service was top notch. My partner and I had a good time sitting by the window and relaxing before our flight. Overall, good experience here, but don't have high expectations of the food. read more

Awful service and lazy staff. They literally lied about being closed god twenty to thirty minutes before closing time. I should have used that time to walk to one of the airline lounges that was nowhere near my gate. They lied about no lounges being near them as well and turned away at least 10-15 parties that were looking for dinner or drinks. read more

With limited restaurants being open at the airport. We figured this place would be a nice lunch spot before leaving. The place looked pretty clean and everyone was pretty spaced out. So we got sat down at table #2. They have an online menu and we order online too. So I got a cheese burger and my gf got the fish and chips and pork nacho. When placing our order online and finishing it. She noticed that our order was different, with extra add on. So we asked the server that their is a mistake. We over heard her talking to her manager saying we made a mistake on our order. So it kinda upset my gf and she was about to give her 2 cents about it. But when the server came back she said it was her mistake and apologized that she opened 2 table on one recipient check. So basically when we sat down she had to make that table open to order. And since we are table #2, the party that came in after us got table #1. The table #1's bill went to our table too. Yes it was kinda confusing. When the food came out, it was already in Togo boxes. And they gave us table #1 food first. Which we told them it wasn't our food. So when we got our food, it looked very sad. The server asked for us to pay her and not the online bill. Cause they couldn't fix it. For the price I was thinking the quality of the food would be better but I was wrong. Wish we would of just got food before heading to the airport. read more

I had six hours to burn before a red eye flight. There are few dining options at this airport and only this one was wet. I hoped to grab a Guinness but all they had on tap were "craft" beers from local breweries. The closest I found was a dark ale from Diamond Head brewery but, man, was it grossly overpriced at $12! And to add insult to injury, they do NOT list the prices of their beers on their menu, plus the bar tender was extremely pushy, asking me "do you want to add a shot for an additional $7?" Really? In this age of air rage, this place is deliberately trying to get passengers inebriated before their flight. No wonder air rage is a big problem! The bar tender herself was rude. She played favorites with customers, smiling and fawning and wishing those who left big tips to "have a good flight" while almost flipping off those patrons who did not. Next long flying layover, I'll skip the beer and read a good book instead of going to this place. I've been to countless dive bars that are better. read more

The added $2.5 guac I got with my tacos was honestly offensive. It was a tiny scoop from what was obviously packaged, gross guac. And the menu claimed that they serve "fresh and local food when possible." That's a big fat "when possible." One star because there is alot of space for your bags and comfort but Go to the food court or PGA bar. No table side service unless they are just dropping off your food or your drinks. Takes a long time to get drinks and food even with multiple staff members on the floor. But the service was slow, the food wasn't great and it was super overpriced ($16 for two tacos with chips). This small kiosk-y place belongs to a mainland food-corporate chain (HMSHost in Bethesda, MD, of all places), but you wouldn't know it, because its themes are "local" and "rustic." The owners wanted regional cuisine that's affordable (well, for airport menus, anyway--about the same price as the fast food outlets within the HNL/Daniel K. Inouye terminal, meaning about $10 for sandwiches and $12-13 for salads, with $3.50 or so being the price point for sodas); "fresh from the market"; and reflective of local culinary styles--to be available within international airports across the US. So the menu is healthy, locally sourced when possible, and reflects Hawai'i food culture. Bought two sandwiches, one with fried chicken and cucumber NAMASU pickles (Japanese-style vegetable side dish that I had grown up with) plus an aioli sauce, and the other with roasted turkey, brie or blue cheese (can't recall which) and fricken GUAVA JELLY, of all things. The menu design was brilliant, the breads diverse and fresh, and the whole thing tasted like it had been made a couple of hours ago. Very different from your ordinary airport to-go, prepared-foods fare. Delightful and artisanal; quite unexpected. The auntie running this kiosk was SUPER NICE; she not only was working past her scheduled time, and didn't want to leave it to nap, because there was nobody to relieve her. But she also told me, once I bought my Diet Coke, that if I showed my receipt to any food outlet in the terminal, I could then get a FREE CUP and fill it with water in their restaurant spigots/drink machines, whenever I wanted. Been traveling a long time, never learned that hack before. I will try the fried chix and namasu blend at home some time; what a great concept! Ditto the turkey with soft cheese and guava jelly.
