I'm not super into sports, but there were TVs playing baseball and football I believe. I got the Caesar salad with mahi. The lettuce was fresh and crunchy, and the mahi was cooked well. The mahi piece was super small though. I also ordered an avocado banh mi to-go, which was great for a plane snack. It had pickled vegetables and a flavorful sauce on it. The aunty working was super kind and asked if I wanted extra water to refill my water bottle. I definitely appreciate her offering this, so I could have cold water for the plane. My family and I ordered the tonkatsu ramen, the chicken bowl, and a cheeseburger. Play it safe, you are about to fly: order the cheeseburger with fries. Tonkatsu ramen: 6/10. A little too heavy, decent flavor, but not satisfying. Chicken bowl: 2/10. Thick battered chicken with a 1:1 ratio of fry batter to meat. I didn't know there was a restaurant & bar at the G gates. Maybe I should remember if I have a trip planned and can get here early enough to get in dinner and a few. My most recent trip had me at gate G1 with United Airlinee, and so I decided to just pass the food court, where the Chopstix Express and Burger King was and sought out something worth my time and money. Lo and behold, I found this little oasis and decided that a beer would be just fine and dandy before my flight out of Honolulu. To my dismay, I arrived too late and their kitchen was closed at 8pm. I ended up staying anyway and tried out out the Kona Fire Rock beer, which is the sister of the Kona Longboard beer. I found out that they're similar in taste and satisfaction. The bar itself was good and the service was friendly. It was closing time at 9pm but thankfully, I got in a beer when I had the chance to. I didn't know they closed shop at 9pm but it was good info for the next time I'm flying out of terminal G at HNL airport. It was a typical bar scene but they had some tables nearby. The bar portion basically took center stage and it was cool to grab a spot and just have a beer before flight. The enjoyable part was having that beer of course. The price for a beer was a little bit high, ($12), but then again, we are talking about having a beer in the airport. I'll probably think twice about having multiple next time, but it's a place to consider to unwind for your flight coming in or arriving. The overall experience here at the Leahi Market in the Daniel K Inouye Honolulu international airport was quick and essential. While it was serendipitous for me to have such an experience, it becoming a tradition I suppose. I even told the bartender that i wished I came earlier to sample their French fries, and he smiled and replied, there's always next time. Yes, next time, indeed! The bar and restaurant was clean and a pretty good choice versus the Starbucks and Burger King and of course the many other snacks filled gift shops you'd find littered across the airport. Yes, beer, wine, and assorted cocktails can be had here as much as your heart and wallets content. I didn't realize how much a 20 oz beer would cost until getting the check for the evening. Didn't think to ask beforehand but it is what it is. The beer really does hit the spot when you are outbound for a trip / vacation and leaving the office behind, even for a little bit. My experience here was maybe 30 minutes, since they were closing and didn't accept new customers after 8:45pm. As customers start to leave, I got the check and paid for it before the bartender and his lone staffer left to go do other things. I was alone for a 15 minutes with my 1/2 glass of Kona fire rock before finishing it and headed to my gate for boarding. The Leahi Market is located by gate G1 of the Daniel K Inouye Honolulu international airport. It could have been a new addition since Covid-19 took a grip on the world. I never saw it or didn't really notice it during my travels. Or just maybe didn't fly out of the G gates area in recent memory. They accept major credit cards as well as cash, which is a great thing especially when they are in a major city airport. Would be weird if they didn't. Most people who are here would either have been traveling to and from Honolulu or work in the airport. You'd rarely see anyone else just strolling in here from the outside wanting to come here. And so, best to fly in or out of here and try out their options on tap. My recommendation is the Kona longboard or the fire rock. They go down smooth and quite refreshing. As far as parking goes, the airport has generous parking options and TheBus public transportation system gets you to the airport. I would recommend routes 19 or 20, which services the terminals themselves. There's also routes 9, 40, and 42, among others who stop near the airport along N Nimitz Highway but do not go inside the airport to drop off and pick up. And so, if you need a pick me up on the way out of HNL or on your way back in, stop on by, they would love to have you. Hidden gem in the airport for sure. 4.0 stars for the overall experience. 5.0 stars for the location since I was flying out of G gates at the time. 4.0 stars for the service and 3.0 stars for the prices, but didn't care. Good choice for a warm, balanced meal. Leahi market is located in gate G of HNL. Several warm and cold ready-to-eat meals are available. I chose the kahlua pork option with rice, pickled ginger, and veggies. The meal was already assembled sitting in a hot box. It had great flavor and was portioned well. It was pricy, but comparable to other airport foods. Leahi market has a variety of grab and go snacks and drinks available as well. The scanning mechanism at the cash register is pretty cool. I decided to get the loco moco, which was around $20 to try the Hawaiian classic before I left. The portion was quite large, featuring a beef patty over rice, topped with an egg and gravy. It came with a side of mac as well but it tasted a little funny, a little artificial. The service was also quite slow. Since I had 2 hours to kill after missing my flight, I opted for dinner and an ice cold glass of beer after a long work day. Plenty of seating. I parked myself at the window on the benches and counter along the side. You can sit at the bar too. First time dining here, my server suggested the Plantation Burger- swiss cheese, smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion, crushed pineapple, teriyaki sauce on a Hawaiian sweet bun or brioche roll, Tonkatsu Ramen bowl- pork belly, hot sesame oil, creamy pork broth, wood ear mushroom, toasted sesame seeds, menma and egg and the Grilled Mahi Mahi rice bowl- korean gochujang sauce, scallion, red ginger and toasted sesame seeds. All sounded delicious, but I settled on the Plantation Burger with fries since I was already drinking my beer. Definitely opt for the brioche bun since you've got the juices from the crushed pineapple and teri sauce. It was cooked to perfection at medium. Came to airport hella early and had to wait for this place to open. Starbucks lady next door says it opens at 11am, she was wrong, they don't open till 11:30am so time your flight accordingly. Luckily my gate was right next to here (G3) so I had time to enjoy a meal before my flight back to SFO. They will check for your vaccine card and even ask to see your physical ID, not digital. They will hand u an actual little form to fill out for contact tracing, which is really good and responsible IF anything does breakout from this place. You order from a QR code, pick ur items and it will send directly into the kitchen for you. Pretty hi-tech. You then also pay your bill via the app and take care of business there. But if a grandparent had to come eat here, I can see her struggling with how to place an order online, they should give the option of an actual menu for those type of people or for someone that have accessibility needs.
