I came here for the first time last month to meet some friends. I had asked a couple of people where a good place was in the area and they both recommended it. I can see why. We enjoyed a French press coffee and the pancake trio. Yummy! Today I return with my hubby and having the French press with their Beignets and the Locals only Benny. I had the prosciutto toast and French press coffee. Others had some egg dishes. Coffee & food was great. This is a family business done right. Nice clean dining room and bathrooms. A lot of thought and intention has gone into to this place to make it a friendly diner with a twist. Why anyone would choose to go to IHOP or Denny's when you have this nearby I have no clue. It's kind of like when you have an In-n-out across the street from mc Donald's. Do you want a real burger (albeit shrinkflated nowadays, but I digress), or a fake McD's burger. This diner has real fresh ingredients and combo's on the menu with real coffee. If you're a trucker with Folger's coffee tendencies, this won't be for you. But it's not fussy! Very casual. Now the weird critique. The front doors and the dining room. It's some seriously weird fung shui when you walk in. No transitional greeters space. It's like walking into a studio and you hang your hat on the coat rack in your living room. The front dining area has no visual connection to the kitchen. This is always bad design for a dining experience that wants to foster trust between the cook and the guest. The servers also have no space to help kitchen functions while having visibility on the dining room. This is getting into the weeds though in general dining room design. Free parking, great food, friendly service, and clean & interesting bathroom. Definitely a try and could become a regular visit for someone who values coffee and a good breakfast. After my sister recommended the Local Nod to us, we finally visited for lunch last Sunday and everything from the food, to the ambiance and service was outstanding! We started off with their beignets which were tasty and not too sweet, but for the price point ($12) I believe they should give you a few more or make them larger. My mother-in-law and I both had the California Omelet, I had mine made with egg whites only and it was one of best omelets I have had, the ingredients were perfectly balanced and they did not overload the omelet with cheese which made it feel light yet filling. We both substituted the side salad for hash browns, the hash brown was absolutely amazing (very crispy and perfectly salted). My wife had the Classic Diner Deal which came with 2 eggs, bacon or sausage and a hash brown. She loved her meal as well. A commonly overlooked detail for any brunch spot is the bread that they serve and I was pleased to see the Local Nod use fantastic bread for their toast, rustic, quality bread that I could not resist eating despite the carbo load. Our food arrived promptly and our water cups stayed full. All in all, a great meal....we will definitely be back! read more

The chicken biscuits and gravy was perfectly seasoned, 10/10. The steak and eggs was under seasoned for my partners preference, but the chimichurri on top was super flavorful. We ordered a lavender latte and a cinnamon honey latte. One of my girlfriends wanted a decaf due to caffeine sensitivity but they don't offer decaf expressos. ??? We ordered the pancake trio. breakfast tacos and loco moco. The short rib breakfast tacos are bomb. I've ordered them everytime I've been here and they are consistently excellent. The pancake trio was nice as you can try each of the different pancakes. My favorite is still the bananas foster pancakes. The loco moco was very good as well. This was my second visit to Local Nod, and it never disappoints. The café is modern and clean. The service is always friendly, helpful, and done with a smile. The food is always scrumptious and they have unique and innovative dishes that I love and appreciate. On this visit, Mr. Bee ordered the Fried Chicken, and gravy over a biscuit, and the dish was topped with a fried egg. He ordered the Honey and Cinnamon Latte and was very happy with his choices. Everything was fresh, served hot, and full of flavor. The chicken was crispy, the biscuit flaky and the egg yolk ran down over the entire dish. I ordered my favorite which is the Avocado toast. I know you are thinking Avocado toast is boring, but yeah, not at Local Nod. The toast is perfectly toasted, topped with creamy avocado, pickled onions, toasted pepitas, and micro greens. On the side is a soft-boiled egg. It is the perfect breakfast. You have crunchy with the toast, the egg, and pepitas, creaminess from the avocado, and the bite of the pickled onion. Parking is pretty easy, the café is located in a shopping center with CVS and a Target grocery store, so there is a large parking lot. Just be prepared if you go on the weekends for brunch, it can get pretty crowded so expect a wait, but it is well worth it. read more

I had a good breakfast burrito that is a meat lovers dream..... bacon, chorizo and ham. The star was the spicy avocado dip. Companion ordered an omelet that was very normal with the nice edition of sliced avocado on top.... not 1/4 avocavo but at least 1/2. 5 star tempting but price vs quantity was slightly off and the atmosphere was a little too simple. The staff was very friendly from the moment we arrived, they opened up their outdoor patio for us to sit outside and even turned on the outdoor heaters as it was a bit of a chilly morning. They played a really good easy going playlist that was great background for chatting and enjoying our company. We ordered the Lavender Latte and Vietnamese Coffee to start and they were very delicious! I would come back just for the coffee sometime! Also wanted to have a group luncheon here tomorrow, but they wouldn't take a reservation for a large party of 20+, so I opted for another place. ... but decided to give them a try today. Grabbed a friend to join me. It's a bit pricey and the presentation was great, but what we had was "just ok"... they had a Pozole special ($15) for Cinco de Mayo and I opted to try their corned beef hash, ($20) which was only drizzled with Hollandaise sauce. They are all really nice and friendly but not sure if servers are assigned to specific tables but it looks like there is a lot of servers but service is a bit slow. Had to ask for a straw a few times and for water refills. It is a newer business so this can improve over time Food has always been delicious. Been here twice and both times ended up getting the chicken sandwhich which is so flavorful. The slaw is tasty and is on a nice toast. We also got the chilaquiles with red sauce which also had refried beans in it. This also was really tasty. Lastly got the egg white omelette which was really fresh. Michelada was really good. The one thing that attracted me to this place was their vegan and GF options. The two kids we had with us have extreme allergies making eating out a challenge. With an all nut allergy, seeds such as sesame and mustard seeds, dairy and eggs and cross contamination is a high risk. Anyhow, we figured with Vegan and GF options we can work things out. Our server who had the coolest name, Morissey, was super helpful and checked with the kitchen several times on ingredients and preparation methods. All of the staff there that morning were all friendly and very helpful. I ordered the Pork Belly Taquitos and the corned beef hash. The PBT-pictured were great. Lots of braised, pulled pork filling in the taquitos and with the egg and salsa to lather up the outside for every bite. As for the corned beef hash, sorry not pictured, was just ok to me. I liked that it had nice chunks of corned beef, but they were dry and tough to chew. Overall it was a good breakfast and I think the Local Nod will be the Local Spot. read more
