Wonderful experience at dinner last night. Our table was ready when we arrived and set up in the corner to accommodate our immuno-compromised friend; I really appreciate that. The service was impeccable and very friendly. All of our meals were perfect, not a single complaint. I was so impressed with the menu that it was hard to narrow it down, but settled in the NY Strip special and was not disappointed. Cooked perfectly and excellent seasong. The server was forgetful, the food was bland after an exceptionally long wait, and the serving size for the price doesn't make sense. It's a great vibe but the place has no identity. Ordered a Porterhouse Steak. They brought me a Pork chop. I told the waiter 4 times it was not good and not a porterhouse steak. He said a porterhouse steak was Pork. Food was good for the most part. Charred brussel sprouts were not charred. Salad dressing was to be on the side and instead it was drowning in dressing. Felt extremely rushed and as though we were an inconvenience to the staff from the moment we arrived. Need to get a bigger fan on the patio to deter flies. Big problem. Not sure we'll be back. We brought my Father in law here because we normally have a great meal with amazing service. 1st the service, Josh our server, was very nice but not up to the job of serving food. He took drink orders and it took 10 mins to get them. Then took our dinner order and brought out our food separately, by the time I'd almost finished my entree he brought out the pub side. I would've liked to have my meal all at one time not separate. After realizing he'd ordered the wrong dinner for my sister-in-law, he assured us he would make sure it came out with the rest of the meals but by the time she gotten her meal we were already finished. It was kind of awkward. two of us had the pork chops which were very over cooked, even after assuring us theyd be medium rare. We decided on desert, he took the order and then brought the coffee out ahead of the desert, which took 20 minutes. It's too bad we normally have a great meal here it was my father-in-law's birthday and I was embarrassed for the meal he had. We probably won't be back anytime soon read more

The server was great, but the food was terrible, basically very bland. I travel for a living, eat out all the time, but the Local Room looks great but food sucks. My wife and I both ordered entrees, drinks, sides, 2 deserts. The meat came out, was cool, 15 minutes later the sides came out, fried squash, bland and cold. Ordered one of the specials, very small portion and did I say cold. Then we both decided to order desert to see if they had anything good. Ordered sweet potato cheese cake and the brownie blondie combination. Again both bland. Food Lions Mrs. Smith desserts much better. My wife could not believe everything was bad. But, the beer was good. We'll head back to 73 and Main in Mt. Pleasant. Blows this place away. Or head to Charlotte for real food. Local Room, you should be ashamed to serve such crap read more

Went to go eat here in a group of 6. Each of us ordered a different entree - French toast, shrimp and grits, sausage breakfast platter, country ham breakfast platter, zebra chicken, and a panini. Not a single one of us thought the food was good. The shrimp and grits were sour and the shrimp tasted off. The zebra chicken was rock hard and had no flavor. The panini and the country platters were not bad but not nearly worth the money. The only reason I don't give one star is because the service was good - they got the food out fast and all the staff was very nice. The atmosphere here is nice. It is just a shame that the food was so tasteless and overpriced. Unless this restaurant fixes this problem, I would advise you to steer clear. read more

Food was excellent. Service was subpar! We ordereddrinks and waters all around...they were delicious but took some time to get to us. Ordered the charcuterie board...someone needs to realize when there are four people at the table there should be at the least four pieces of everything on the board enough to share...saddly we had split the last piece of cheese as there were only three. Our dinner came out by the server, only three of our dinners arrived at the table. We waited a full 5 minites before the waitress said that the ribs would be right out...they were not. It took another 5 minites before the last plate arrived at the table, so awkward for all of us waiting to eat. First time eating here, second time grabbing drinks. The drinks are presented well and are tasty - coming from someone from the city and used to a high standard of mixed drinks. The wait staff are very friendly and attentive. I was however, very unimpressed with the quality of the food. Got the salmon and grilled zucchini - both were way over seasoned and very salty. I took one bite of the zucchini and could not eat it as it was covered in heavy black pepper. The salmon, although overcooked, was edible when I scrapped all of the seasoning off. My friend had the chicken penne and the chicken was also over seasoned and tough to chew. I would definitely not return for the food, but would go back for drinks and sit at the bar. read more

I went here for lunch on a Saturday. I ordered a burger and was asked how I like my burger cooked. I told the waitress well done. Received it medium rare. I did not return it since I do it my steak medium rare but burgers I like it cooked a little longer. The taste wasn't bad. I would recommend lunch and I know dinner can be crowded on the weekends. Big bar area and they do have outside dining under a tent. I've also seen heaters for the colder weather out there. I would try something else on there menu. I got the fruit filled tart. Disappointed. The tarts were burnt and I thought it would have fresh fruit not a jelly type fruit. I will try them again but not my first choice. read more

The Local Room is the new new for locust and it's a big deal!! This place is great! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is chill and the drinks are awesome. The southern egg rolls are good. Unless you want to drive to Matthews or Charlotte, or are interested in fast food, The Local Room is really one of the only choice's for a decent sit down restaurant of this type in Locust. In my opinion, the restaurant has really declined since it first opened. The food is good, but it is certainly not consistently good. Service could be better. But, it seems it depends on the staff that is working at the time. I'm not sure if whoever owns this establishment is no longer involved, or what. Whoever the management is, there needs to be a change. Bad management, trickles downhill. I've been there at times, and have seen the manager on duty spending more time flirting with his waitstaff and drinking, than doing his job. If that is the example this person is setting, then it's no wonder it has problems. It is unfortunate, this place used to be, and could be again, so much more than it currently is. Once a chain such as Texas Roadhouse or Applebees opens in the area, this place is doomed, unless they can gain a solid foothold and customer loyalty base. read more

I made a reservation. When we got there they didn't look very hard for my reservation. I was seated and had a good meal. Thought the salad came with the meal, but the waitress said because we ordered soup, which we paid for, the salad is not free. This was our second time here - I can only assume that the chef on Monday is second string, because this was NOT a good meal (as compared to our last one, which was great). French Onion soup was bland, and the bread used was too soft and not toasted, so it disintegrated. Cheese was nice. We ordered the special burger, and our server came back and said that it was not available, did we want the house burger. This was my mistake, I should have asked what was on it because it came loaded with cold pimento cheese - so very, very gross. I pulled all the stuff off to get to the patty, which would have been good except it had been drenched in Lawry's Season Salt. Okay, on to the loaded fries which were the reason we came back, they were so good last time. This time, the fries had been sitting for a while and were cold and stale. Again, drenched in the Lawry's Season Salt. And for reasons unclear, there were several pieces of green bell pepper at the bottom of the fries (I only know this because I was digging around trying to find some fries that were edible. Unfortunately, my ice water with lemon was rung on my check as lemonade. Outside of the restaurant's control, some motorcyclists arrived for dinner, and backed their bikes into the parking space right next to the outdoor dining, filling the dining area with exhaust. This was followed by a man standing on the sidewalk next to our outside table smoking. So much for enjoying the outdoors, but honestly, the meal was even worse. read more

Love the bar and the weekend bartenders. Food is good except for prime rib night, expensive for what you get, $41 is crazy especially when there is an up-charge for a plain sweet potato and Caesar dressing on top of the $41 (think it was $4 for each - ouch!). Mix drinks are good and I like the variety of drink specials. We'll definitely go back, just will stay away from specials with no prices mentioned on the special menu. read more

Really hoping to like this new place. They clearly spent a ton of money on the building- indoor and outdoor covered seating is beautiful. Unfortunately we had low to average food and low to average service and above average prices. The menu is large and all over the place with no clear style. No vegetarian options (everything has cheese) and only 1 type of steak (sirloin) Strange feature is that everything can come in a full or small portion. When we asked our server about this she clearly wanted us to only order full servings :). There were specials but we weren't told about them and our waitress spent wayyyy too much time at our table every minute and rushing us through each course to get us up and out as quickly as possible. Food was strange- appetizer of broiled feta came with thick raw skin-on dry cucumbers (they missed an opportunity to make that dish outstanding) and my burger was ok. It with raw jalapeños (again, why not roasted or seasoned or even pickled? I LOVE jalapeños but took these off.) and broccoli with no seasoning or butter - just steamed. Husband's food also plain - chicken, cheese, bread... blah. Nothing was "bad" but everything we ate just felt like it could have been so much better. We felt like the menu was written by someone passionate about food but the execution fell flat. We might try it again in a few months but only if we are out in Stanfield. Lunch today was our first experience here! Everything is fresh and new. Hostess and Jordan our waitress were friendly and knowledgeable. Food was delicious! Wife had the crab cakes and steamed broccoli. Crab cakes were excellent and broccoli was not overdone. I had chopped steak with mushrooms and onions and the Old Bay fries. Steak was cooked correctly and fries were delicious. You can tell the Chef and kitchen staff have had training and experience at upscale restaurants. Will be returning soon for dinner! read more

1st time dining at the Local Room... last time dining at the Local Room. Server didn't pay attention, after writing it down and reading it back and 1 dinner was wrong. Ribs were bland, overcooked and cold. Truffle fries were over cooked, greasy and lukewarm (3 orders). Service was lackluster, had to ask for refills and forgotten menu items. And as leaving we were told to "Have a good one." I would have settled for one good meal out of four! "Have a good one." Not "Thank you for coming... did you enjoy your meal?" Love the atmosphere, great new spot to try in Locust and definitely much needed however, chef need some work.. New York strip special was actually a ribeye and cooked at to high of a temp making the outside well done but the inside totally raw.
