This restaurant is hidden away in a lovely complex in Dos Vientos. It's easy to miss, but wow, gotta be one of the top five Newbury Park restaurants! We started with bruschetta and Mac and cheese as appetizers, and we're off to the races. Had the pappardelle pasta with prosciutto and mushrooms. Delicious! Spouse had the 12 grilled shrimp...they were large and delicious. Pizzas and hamburger were great, too. They bring bread to the table that's been rubbed with garlic and drizzled with EVOO. Decided to give this restaurant another shot as I had not been there in probably close to a year. It's located in the heart of the Dos Vientos Community in Newbury park. A friend and I went there and brought a bottle of wine with us. I decided on the chicken piccata and it exceeded my expectations. Very tender and juicy with just the right amount of lemon, butter, and capers. My friend ordered the chicken paillard (pounded thin grilled chicken with tomatoes and arugula piled on top). She was very happy with her meal as well. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that our corkage fee was only $10. So for two great meals and corking a bottle of wine it was under $70 and I felt like it was a great value for this local gem. Service was on the slow side but we were not in any hurry. I've been here several times for dinner. I liked all of their pasta dishes I've tried and their happy hour, though I miss the old $5 pricing. Most recently, I came in for dinner on a weekday and then happy hour that weekend. When I came in for dinner, I had the penne arrabbiata. The pasta was tender and the sauce was thick and pleasantly spicy. The service was quick-- the manager was waiting on us that night. When I came in for an early happy hour (for dinner) on a Saturday, my boyfriend and I ordered the mac n cheese, the truffle fries, the buffalo chicken fingers, and the chicken sliders. The food was good, but nothing special. My favorite was the mac n cheese. I had the house chardonnay to drink and it was tasty. The biggest thing I like about this place is that it's convenient. If I didn't live in Dos Vientos, however, I'm not sure it would be worth the trek to make it to this place, though its my favorite restaurant to be in its space. I hope that business picks up for them but the food needs more character or they need to do some aggressive promoting. It's a little off-putting to be the only party in a huge restaurant. read more

Great outdoor patio! The food is great, Fresh and affordable. Happy with the wine selection. They are known for their dessert which I have no tried. I do not have a sweet tooth. I was SO looking forward to this. I hadn't been here in years because I wasn't particularly blown away last time I was here. My friends had told me its gotten better. I really wanted to try their handmade pasta. We made reservations for 7:30. When we arrived they didn't know about our reservations, thankfully there was room. We got seated on the corner patio. Our waiter said "I'll be back with bread". 30 minutes later, no bread no server, nothing. Not even a "I'll be with you shortly", there was nothing. Instead, we went and spent our money at an amazing and more affordable Mexican restaurant in Camarillo. There, we were seated immediately given chips and salsa and had drinks to boot. I wish I could give this zero stars. Worst restaurant experience ever. We had a reservation for 4:30 for 10 people. They sat us outside and then 15 minutes later (after no one had taken drink orders or anything) they came out and asked us to get up and go outside as they needed to rearrange the patio. At 5:00, 30 minutes after our reservation time, they finally sat us down again. Around 15 minutes later we had to go find a server to take our drink order. The food was actually really good but the service was horrible. Then when we got the bill, (total was $369) they told us a tip of 18% was included and said that tip amount was $177 and totaled, on the receipt, $546. Thankfully I knew that that a tip of 177 was near 50% and made them correct the amount. (I wonder how many people get taken by that deception). The restaurant was not outrageously busy, it was just the most disorganized and unknowledgeable establishment I've ever been to. read more

Don't go there if you are hoping to have a lovely conversation with your dinner. We went with two other couples and it was so noisy that we were not able to have a cross-table conversation. We just sat, spoke loudly to the person sitting next to us and waited for our food. The service was slow, we ate and left. Really sad as the food was very good. My husband and I tried this place last night...since were always looking for new places to eat. So we get to the restaurant and the shopping center that it's in is very pretty. We came from Simi, so were not super familiar with the Dos Vientos area, which is lovely btw. We walked into the resultant and we were immediately seated in a nice booth. The waiter came by and poured us some water and then told us the specials. Then the busboy brought us some bread with garlic, but it was missing something to cut the spicy garlic flavor. It was fine, but not great. The waiter came back and took our order. My husband ordered the pappardelle special, and I ordered the burrata appetizer and the spinach ravioli for dinner. My burrata arrived and looked very nice. Again, it was missing some flavor. Maybe add some cracked salt to the dish, cause it was pretty boring. Then our entrees came out and they were swimming in sauce. I mean, like pasta soup. My husband's food was literally a bowl of sauce with some noodles and mushrooms (and he likes his pasta lightly sauced). I had to scrape the sauce of each of my ravioli cause it was just too much. By the end of my meal, there was a huge pile of sauce on the side of the plate. We both agreed that the food tasted really good, but the amount of sauce was out of hand. Whoever is making the pasta needs to calm down with the sauce. We then looked at the dessert menu. I had been eyeing a dessert on their website before we came in, but it was crossed off the dessert menu they handed us. So, we did not order anything. Overall, the food was pretty good, except for the sauce issue; the service was fine, and the ambiance was fine. The restaurant was pretty dead at 6:30 on a Friday night, so that can't be good. I don't think we will rush back here, but if we find ourselves in Newbury Park, maybe we'll give it another try. read more

For the entrees, we ordered the branzino and a prosciutto pizza, both were spectacular. The dessert was wonderful as well. I got the peanut butter one. You'll know when you see it. Ok, so in these COVID-19 times we called in and took it home. We ordered quite a few things and every single dish was delicious and plentiful. The telephone discussion while ordering was great. He had done excellent suggestions. I got lost getting there but that's my issue. I very strongly recommend this restaurant. Went here for happy hour with co-workers... loved it. We were a little rowdy, all women laughing and drinking. Even though it was happy hour I got the scallop appitizer. Super flavorful but sliced really thin.. it was corn and one scallop sliced 4 times. I applaud the chef for not overlooking it. I wouldn't order it again. We went for our anniversary and LOVED the soft ambiance and overall theme of this restaurant. we got there early so it was quiet but started to pick up around 7pm. Our servers were lovely and on top of everything. The garlic bread was soft and yummy! We had the scallops as a appetizer - advertised as being on a bed of peas but ours came with corn instead and it was delicious. Seasoned perfectly. For our entrees we had the BBQ shrimp and the filet mignon. Both outstanding! The filet mignon was one of the best steaks I have ever had. Second dinner experience here within the last month or so, and both were great! After seeing a lot of turnover in this location, it's nice to see that somebody finally got it right ... reasonable prices, delicious food, nice ambiance (casual, but nice) great service and a good kids menu. We were happy to see that the restaurant and bar were both busy on a Saturday night. I had the rib eye special, which was great. My husband just had a Cobb salad, but said it was very good. The bread is too good ... next time they need to limit us to one basket!
