Really nice upscale food/lowscale decor kind of place. Oodles of booze, gourmet grilled cheeses to rival Melt back home, and wonderful appetizers. I recommend the fried macaroni bites with the sriracha ketchup, especially for those who think ketchup/hot sauce and mac n cheese are mutually exclusive. I'd give this place three and a half stars because despite the good appetizers and good tasting sandwiches, I felt they were a little skimpy on how much is in the sandwich, and room temp water is just a bit of a no-brainer. We came down there in the middle of two HUGE parties, and at the time I was part of one myself, so there was quite a wait. However I don't attribute that to bad waitstaff so much as they would never expect to have 3 10+ parties in the same night. If I come back I'll probably see a better light. Its very sparsely decorated inside, and is basically a dive bar with less beer related stuff, and more local college student artwork on the wall. I'd give it 3.5 due to kinda skimpy sandwiches and a bit of the slowness attributed to the staff and not the overcrowding which couldn't be helped, but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt. read more

I love grilled cheese, but I hate that nothing can be customized. With only a few sandwiches to choose from, not being able to swap out a bread is a little silly. If there were 20 to choose from, I could understand, but there aren't. I'm a picky eater, so customizing is important. Prices are fair. I happen to love the cole slaw, and that is unusual, and I even enjoy the gold fish. I don't drink beer, but they appear to have a large selection, beyond that I can't comment. Service is OK for small groups, when there is a large group, we've never had a server split it up, and it seems like one server gets overwhelmed. read more

Tried this place for the first time today and don't have anything but good things to say about it. The prices were reasonable, for 2 people with an appetizer, 2 meals with upgraded to tater tots, it was $24. The food was really good and the bread they use is made locally which I thought was pretty cool. We tried the macaroni and cheese bites for an appetizer. They were some of the best Mac and cheese bites I have had and they come with an awesome spicy ketchup that we saved to use with the tater tots. The food was awesome but I would say the amount of food we got was more appropriate for a lunch than dinner. The atmosphere was like an old school hole in the wall bar. They have very basic decorations but it works really well and makes it a neat place to eat. read more

Thank god for this place. BEST beer selection I've seen since I moved back to Ohio. I used to like this place a lot when it was the Lime Spider, but I don't even know if they had food. I love it now. In my opinion, grilled cheese is pretty much the best theme ever for a restaurant. They have 12 different "gourmet" varieties of grilled cheese and a daily special. There's other kinds of food too, but I completely ignored that. Side options include tater tots and sweet potato fries. Some of their appetizers look fantastic as well. I must admit, I'm anxious to try the fried pepperoni slices. The reason this is 4 and not 5 stars is because they really could use better bread and preferably different kinds of different sandwiches, get a little creative. The first time I went was for dinner, service was good. We waited a few times with an empty glass but she was very friendly and overall attentive. The second time was just for a couple beers on a Saturday night. They were delicious. The service was much slower, but it was Saturday night, so no biggie. Ambiance is perfect- tablecloths, candles, but doesn't feel fancy. Maybe it's the giant chalkboard beer menu. read more

This bar has become my equivalent of the much sought after "Cheers" experience. The ambience fosters a relaxed, amiable vibe that makes me want to kickback and just laugh with my friends. The Lockview menu is famous for delicious grilled cheese sandwiches; the classic #1 is a perfectly done classic toasted cheese, and the mashed potato grilled cheese with bourbon dipping gravy sauce makes my world a little better. Their sides of tater-tots or fries leave a bit to be desired. My boyfriend loves how much variety they provide in their beer stock, with dozens of classic and new choices written on a chalk sign. The only negative I can say is the friendliness of staff is hit-or-miss. However, isn't that sort of what you expect from your very own Cheers? The food is good, perfect sweet potato fries. Nice options with the grilled cheese sandwiches, the menu has something for everyone. Went there on a Tuesday night, 8 of us. Not at all impressed with the server. He was slow on all points, missed opportunities to get us another drink and seemed to avoid looking our way when he was at nearby tables. When we finally got the food we asked for the check in order to make our show at EJ Thomas because by this time we were running late. Still nothing after 15 minutes. Great service fast, food was great too! Took my wife and 2 kids there for lunch. Even though there were a few open tables busy lunch time we were served drinks and our food came out in fairly quick. The Lockview puts Melt to shame. Hands down. My husband always orders the grilled cheese with cheddar, apples, and bacon. I love the number 11 I believe it is, with lobster and lemon aioli. It's amazing! We also enjoyed the crab dip, made better with sriracha drizzled over top. My only complaint is that when I asked if I could get the Mac and cheese as a side dish and pay an upcharge I was told "no". I was willing to pay more than just a couple of dollars for it. Go ahead and charge me $6 for a side of mac and cheese like every other restaurant in town, I don't care. When a customer asks and is willing to pay extra for something, I dont see what the issue is. read more

Don't waste your time or money. Let's start with the staff. Clearly, they are too trendy to adequately serve you. That's fine, kids will be kids. But at like 7$/beer and 10$/plate you'd figure a modicum of service would work. The food is garbage and don't let them fool you into thinking it's "trendy." This is a Melt knock-off at best. "We have thousands of different beers!" Great. So I can go between to 10% abv Pumpkin IPA and the 11.5% abv Coffee Stout and feign being cultured. Don't waste your time. Granted this evening was a crowded night. Bar staff was attentive while we waited. Once seated our waitress was initially very attentive. Placed our order...45 minutes later, and after watching 5 groups of people who were seated after us receive their drinks, appetizers and sandwiches (we were a group of 3 and 2 of the 5 groups I am referencing were 5+) we inquired about our meal. Watched our waitress consult a manager we received the canned answer of "We we really slammed" we pointed out our observation of the parties around us. From that point on ... rude, rude, rude! Awesome place for a quick lunch, the day staff is very courteous and efficient. Or go in for dinner and a few craft beers with friends at night. Great atmosphere and fun times. I arrived at 5:30 to get a table for 8 people. I figured it would be busy because of the weekend. I was told it would be 15 minutes for a table, no problem. 1 hour and 30 minutes later we were finally seated. We had no choice but to order quickly from the bartender because we were running out of time due to an event that started at 8pm. Once seated, we waited an additional hour for our food. We requested to speak to a manager and they told us he would be right over. Never came. I will never come back and I will be sure to tell anyone thinking of going there, not to waste their time. I had previously went to lockview within the first few weeks of opening. Told myself I was never going back. I was in the neighborhood the other day and decided to give it another shot. The beer list is extensive, which is impressive. However the service was so horrible I left once again, pissed off, with the intention never to return. All you have to do is keep a beer glass full! That's all you have to do! Sitting 35mins, with no sign of server while 4 other staff members stare at you, even take your empty glasses and don't say anything! Is unacceptable. The beer list is nice. Go into it with the notion service is horrid, order a beer every chance you get (even if you just got one) and you might be able to have a decent time. read more

I'm so disappointed in our trip to this restaurant. My husband and I ate there over the summer and so excited to take the family. We went on a Tuesday and arrived at approximately 730. The restaurant was not busy. After we ordered it took 40 minutes to receive our food. If it would have been exceptional I can understand the wait but 3 out of the 6 were not good (mine was burnt and fries soggy) and the others were very marginal. They also have a frequently updated drink menu and their mac and cheese bites are huge but we always order more hah. This is NOT a sports bar at all. They had an old Elvis movie on the TVs at 7 pm and acted like it was a real inconvenience to change the channel. This place has a nice atmosphere and it is located in downtown akron. Nice location. I heard in the summer, the rooftop is open but we weren't able to see it when we were there. The food was mediocre. We ordered grilled cheese sandwiches, cuz that's what this place is famous for. It was pretty good but didn't really wow me that much. They also felt a little "skinny" and empty. For appetizer, we ordered quesadilla - I would say it was good but nothing really special and tasted just like any other places. I do have to say that I enjoyed my pumpkin draft beer - it tasted like pumpkin cheese cake, pretty good! Overall, this place is good, but nothing really stood out to me that much. read more
