Like it's neighbor, Baxter's, I really like this place. Good selection of drinks and a quality staff. I think they have the better food between the two, if you're making a decision based on that. Went on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised that we were seated within 25 minutes considering how busy (and how small) the place was. The beer list is extensive and kudos to the bartenders giving you a heads up when you order a brew that is expensive. We ordered the fried pepperoni and deep fried macaroni and cheese for apps and they were amazing. The sandwiches were just as amazing. Our tab was relatively inexpensive. Visited this place a few weeks ago and tried a few of the beers they have on their HUGE beer menu. The waitress was very nice and the restaurant seemed very clean. It was a little dark inside but not a huge deal. The beer was excellent. My first was a draft and was nice and cold, and poured correctly. The next was a bottle and again, it was very cold and the waitress checked multiple times to see if I would like another. Would definitely like to come back and try the food out, as I only had drinks this time around (which is mainly why I'm rating it a 4/5, since I've only tried the drinks). read more

Heard about Universal Windows Direct on the radio station I listen to most days. When we were ready for a new roof install, I gave them a call. They came when they said they would. They were very knowledgeable, helpful, and courteous. The roofing crew came when they said they would. They were very professional and efficient. They removed the old roof and installed the new roof in one day. They left our home the way they found it. They did a great job!! We are very satisfied. We would definitely recommend them!! Absolutely my favoritest place to go get grilled cheese! Yes you reas that right grilled cheese!!! Many different options to chose from pertaining to the grilled cheese, and I have yet to have one that I didn't love! And all of the sandwiches come with goldfish!!! They also have an amazing selection of beers that us constantly rotating and bringing in new different beers. If your a fan of grilled cheese and sandwiches then this place is for you. My brother got a grilled cheese and was happy. i got a normal straight forward burger but was cooked perfectly medium. The fries were good just wish they were seasoned but that's forgivable, service was good, your greeted right as you enter so you feel welcomed. Also the beer menu at this place is HUGE and has alot of variety in it. The only reason why this isn't 5 stars is because of the beer prices, a bit too high for me because I'm a college student but other than that this place in my mind deserves 5 STARS!!!!! Almost got 5 stars. Wanna know why world? First I shall start off by saying I am an avid viewer of Flipboard and they had an article on their site with the 33 top bars in the Good ol' US of A and the Lockview was on the list. Having moved here from Rochester, NY in Sept. '13(they have a lot of awesome pubs/bars). I am originally from East Los Angeles and have traveled all over this country, from Hawaii to NY. Love it. So I decided to check them out, 7/2/14 was my visit date/day on my day off from work. Place is awesome!!! from front to end, I was greeted by a very friendly bartender named "Stephanie" and she was spectacular, I was into IPA's and she was very professional in telling me what was on hand/tap bottles and so forth. I ordered the Cajun/shrimp appetizer accompanied with pita strips, spicy and good! Here is where the Fifth star dropped off the radar and my dis-satisfaction with The Lockview comes into play. Yup you guessed it "shift change". Stephanie cashed me out and another(how planet earth ever made this thing a bartender I shall never know) bartender crept in. If your reading this I am sure you have visited a bar or two and can distinguish which venue you shall visit again. Usually a good/competent bartender taking over will ask current seated paying customers "hey can I get you another X"? or ?" and so on. Not this slacker. Never got his name nor did he give it, but "it" is a short Asian guy with long hair. "It" walked by me 9 times(yes I counted them) before asking me "Hey can I get you another beer?" Having worked in the hospitality industry for 3 yrs as a chef and working with bartenders as well as working in the customer service field for almost 20 years. One would check up on their customers. I know, as worker, if your having a bad day or whatever, you put that shit aside and work!!! Appease the customer always. This guy failed. He and He alone left a sour taste in my mouth. Hopefully he or someone that knows him reads this article and he changes his attitude for the better. A first impression says a lot. I intend on trying the grilled cheese sandwiches they have next time, if dude is there though I am making a B-line for the door straight up!!! Professionalism goes a long way. read more

Lockview is friendly, relaxing, and easy-to-fit-into. They have a great beer selection, with ten or so on tap including some you will not find in other places. They have a great wine selection (wine drinkers tell me). And their food is always, always, always exactly what you have a hankering for at the end of the day. This place feels like home. If I could only go to one place in Akron for the rest of my life, I would pick Lockview without hesitation. You will love it. read more

It's old school from top to bottom - especially at the bar. Nice draft list usually has at least one extraordinary beer that you won't find around town. Grilled cheese in numerous iterations is the specialty, but the fish taco (actually a wrap) is the outstanding menu item. Service can be somewhat detached as it looks like students are the primary source of wait staff. The bottom line is that the place just feels good to hang in - especially in midafternoon. read more

There was a single apple sliver on each half of my sandwich, so small that you could not even taste it. I've heard amazing things about Lockview since I moved to Ohio almost 3 years ago. Unfortunately, I received the worst service I have ever experienced on my first and only visit. I asked for water and a glass, never got that. It took half an hour for a friend of mine to receive her drink, when she got it, it was the wrong drink. My friend said it's not what she ordered, the server nodded solemnly and walked away- not offering to remedy the problem. It took about 10-15 minutes for our server to even approach the table to ask for drinks. When she did, she asked half of the table, and walked off before asking the other half (as if she actually intended to ask the other guests). I got up on two separate occasions to ask to order- and then to ask for our checks. I did this after waiting a considerable amount of time- I always give the benefit of the doubt and assume they're trying their best. This girl could not have been any less enthused. The environment LOOKS nice- it's dimly lit in a comfortable way. The music selection is terrible and distracting. The restaurant was slow! There were many open tables and many servers on the floor. It was not REMOTELY close to busy enough to warrant service that horrible. Absolutely unacceptable. ***i enjoyed my food. It was room temperature, but that doesn't bother me as much as it bothers (all) other people. Prices are reasonable for the portions and quality. I won't be visiting lockview again. Word of mouth is the most powerful form of advertising, and if this establishment employs people of that caliber, I'm not going to keep that quiet. Pathetic. read more

The Lockview is located very close to the Akron Civic Theater so a perfect spot for having dinner before going to a show. My friends and I had a table on the terrace which was a very nice spot except for the blaring music. We couldn't have a conversation because the music was so loud. We, and a table next to us, asked for the music to be turned down a bit but it did not change. We arrived a little before 6 and our show was at 7:30 so we thought we had plenty of time to have a nice dinner before walking over to the theater. Apparently, the restaurant didn't anticipate the amount of theater goers because the terrace was packed with only one server. Unfortunately, I cannot review the food as at 7:15 our order was just coming out but we had no time to eat it (although we did manage to get our appetizer of tater tots which were very good). We paid for our drinks and tots and left. Other tables that had come in behind us were abandoning their orders as well in order to not be late to the show. I felt bad for the server as she did as best as she could, but management dropped the ball on this one. This was my first time there and I may try it again but definitely not on a theater night. read more

My three friends and I went to the Lockview tonight (Saturday). I wish we would have went elsewhere. Given it was a Saturday night at 11:15 pm and the kitchen closes at midnight, we ventured out anyways. We want upstairs to the "seat yourself" patio since it will probably be one of the last nice nights we have in Ohio this season. We waited a while for a server to come over, but given they were busy, we didn't mind. We browsed the drink and food menus we obtained from the bar and proceeded to wait. The two men of our party proceeded to the bar separately to order drinks for themselves and their girlfriends. One ordered a water an a Corona, and my boyfriend ordered a Corona and a Mr. Right martini for me (what girl doesn't want a Mr. Right?!) the first ordered his drinks with no problem, but my martini was poured a little over an inch short from the top of the rim. Since the martini was $9, the bartender was questioned on the level of the drink. He was very rude in telling him that "that was what you ordered, and that's what I gave you," so he came back to the table with the drinks and didn't tip him. Not because he is cheap, but because you tip a bartender based on customer service, which the tall, bearded, dark-haired man with glasses did not give. He proceeded back to the table with the drinks, and I looked at the glass puzzled as to why so much was missing. The bartender was once again told about the level of the drink, "See, I'm not the only one!" He proceeded to come over to our table and actually (not exaggerating) YELLED at us in front of the many patrons at the bar. "If you don't like it, you can get the f**k out," he said as loud as he could. I told my friends that it was alright, I would fix it. I walked downstairs and asked the polite hostess for the manager. He came over and I sat my unsipped drink in front of him and asked if it was a standard pour for this type of martini. He said "Yes, it is, but would you like a little more?" as tears welled up in my eyes from being so upset at our treatment. The manager mixed me some more "Mr. Right" and the hostess offered me a tissue. I walked back upstairs and showed the group it was alright. Since the bartender was still talking about the experience to the patrons at the bar, our group said "See, now that's a martini!" The glass was still able to be carried without spilling, but it wasn't over an inch from the rim. (It was a half of an inch at most.) He came from behind the bar and proceeded to yell at us once again, inviting us to get the "f**k out." We told him to get the manager, and he came up and told our group that he had talked to me already. He advised us to not talk to the bartender anymore, and come to him if we had any more problems. The stars given from this review are from the manager and our server at our table who are both very professional and kind as people in the service industry should be. We asked our server for our checks as soon as our food we had ordered was delivered, and she was overcompensated for her kindness in lieu of our experience. He apologized profusely for her coworker that was out of her control, we boxed our food we hadn't touched, and left. There was no excuse for this behavior, downtown Akron or not. I will personally never be returning to the Lockview. Plenty of customer service oriented people would love to have a job at an establishment with such a good reputation. Hire them. I'm not sure if this individual was having a bad night in general (we've all been there,) or if he is just actually that rude to customers that question his "authority." I'm sorry Lockview, but one star each for the manager and hostess/server who treated us humanely. Please reconsider your weekend patio bartender, and best wishes in the restaurant industry. read more

It's 65 degrees and sunny on a beautiful Akron evening on one of my closest friends birthday. And on this special day, out of all the restaurants in the city of Akron he chose the lockview to share his special day with. With a party of 11 plus a baby we waited 30 minutes to be seated. Which is to be expected. Being greeted by who I thought was a nice and great server, which I later learn I was wrong..... Waiting 40 minutes our food finally arrives and to my amazement only five plates out of 11 plates are made. After informing our sever "Taylor" of this issue. She informed us that there was "something wrong with our fries"..... Confusing right.... I was too believe me. So after an hour of still no sight of the other plates. "Taylor " informed us that there are 20 other tickets waiting in front of ours. So as other servers are bringing "Grilled Cheeses" to other customers we are being completely ignored. Never had such a horrible experience and felt bad for my friends birthday with his friends and family. When we brought this to the manager we still had to pay for cold food of the people who decided to wait for the other plates and and half of our drinks. If you come here with a party and get a server named Taylor. Ask for another person immediately because it's obvious she is only there to pick up a tip. And in spirt her is one for you Taylor...
