My family and I went to the lodge last night to celebrate my dads birthday early since I will be out of town next week. We were able to be seated before our reservation which was nice, but our server, Chris, was very busy with his couple tables. The drinks and food all took a while to come out. I ordered the strawberry hibiscus rum punch as my drink, had the French onion soup as my appetizer (probably the best thing all night), and the short rib ragu special for my entree. I am not sure if the restaurant is short staffed, has a lot of new employees, or was just behind on everything last night. As I previously mentioned, everything took a while and when the entrees came out for the table, one of the guests at my table had asked for a different dressing than what the salad came with and then we flagged down who we thought was a manager and asked for what dressing she has asked for. He brought out a different dressing than what it was before and it still wasn't right... the noodles on my short rib ragu entree were a little undercooked (I'm not sure if this is just my personal preference or how they were cooked) and it was a really large portion. By the time we finished our food and everything, it seemed like our waiter was a little hard to find... As much as we liked the ambiance of the restaurant, I do not think we will return to the lodge or their other restaurants from our recent experiences. read more

Went there for Gathering Hour with a couple of pals, and we found that the food offerings were pared down from a delightful variety of options to flatbreads only. I don't like flatbreads, and as the person that suggested that we choose The Lodge over a lot of other scrumptious happy hours in the area, I was a bit embarrassed. On the drinks front, I ordered a non-alcoholic beverage, and I was told that they ran out of NA beer. My friend ordered the house Chardonnay, and she was given a glass that turned out not to be on the Happy Hour menu, so almost twice the cost. The server in the bar area was leaving for the evening as we were seated, and it took a good while before the bartender got around to coming out to take care of the tables. Overall, a bummer of an evening. We loved The Lodge the last time we went for Gathering Hour but we weren't happy with the experience this time around. read more

We had a 7:30 PM reservation for a party of 6 and, although everyone in our party arrived on time, we weren't seated until 7:50 PM. Not a great start. The bigger concern was around food awareness and quality. One person in our group has a shellfish allergy and asked about the fried green tomatoes. The menu clearly states they come with a crab rémoulade, but the waitress wasn't aware and implied it would be fine. I had to point it out to her, which was concerning given how serious food allergies can be. The complimentary biscuits arrived burnt and very dry. We requested a fresh batch, while the second round wasn't burnt, they were still quite dry. As for the entrées, one guest ordered the branzino, which came with broccolini that was noticeably cold. He mentioned it to the waitress but chose not to escalate the issue anyTwo others ordered the shrimp and grits, and both dishes were overly soupy with very little grits. My boyfriend ordered the mahi fish tacos with fries and said they were delicious. For dessert, three of us ordered the Smith Island cake, which unfortunately was also very dry. On a positive note, the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and very spacious. However, based on our overall experience, we likely won't be returning. read more

Food was fine, but I have suggestions. Service was friendly, supportive, but slow. Ambiance... it's called The Lodge. The animal heads are fine except it's not a steak and game restaurant. The decor leans French country house. It's not like a lodge. The tables are chunky wood and "lodgy" but the chairs aren't a match to the tables, the stone wall doesn't say "lodge", the wallpaper isn't even close to "lodge". The background music was pleasant enough and thankfully not loud. A word about the Brussels sprouts: ruined. They'd have been great without that white sauce whatever it is. They were swimming in that goop. Ruined the plate completely. The sprouts were also a bit overcooked, but mostly the sauce was horrible. A word about the cheesy biscuits: goop. They are like goop in your mouth. Lose the cheese and make a decent biscuit. Those things are the biscuits of nightmares. Hasn't anyone there ever had a proper biscuit? Bisquick does better biscuits. We had a phenomenal Sunday Mother's Day Brunch at The Lodge! We were celebrating our mother and also our parents, it was their 62nd anniversary. The country farm, meets chic ambiance was an entire vibe!! We had a party of 11 and since I knew Mother's Day is always booked and busy, I booked the reservations weeks in advance. When we arrived, we were told the private room to the side was where we were going to be seated. SWEET! It was like our very own private oasis, away from everyone else. The Sunday Brunch starts @ 10am to 2pm, $48 per person and $64 including a bottomless mimosa option. I don't even enjoy or partake in buffets, but this one was wonderful! Their food selections had everything you could imagine. Items such as a customizable omelette station, meat slicing station, chicken and waffles, grits, oysters, shrimp, home fries, fresh fruit, pastries, and plenty of other options. Everyone in my party ranted and raved about their food. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and made a special effort to make small talk with us. They also made sure if we required anything, to let them know. Our server for the table, Harley, was such a nice young man. Helpful and stayed on top of those bottomless mimosas for my family. The only problem we encountered, that I feel is worth mentioning, was when one of the managers abruptly came in and basically booted us out the room. We were actually in the process of getting up and leaving, but I guess we weren't moving fast enough for him. We get it, it was a 2 hour table limit, but calm down. Other than that snafu, we really did enjoy our brunch. Since it's the sister restaurant to one of my favorite restaurants, The Blackwall Barn and Lodge, I knew the food would be great! The food was just ok overall. We ordered the flaming crab dip. The portion size was NOT worth $21.00. We also had the shrimp and grits for $20 something dollars. The grits were good, shrimp and sausage were average. We also had chicken and waffles for $42.00. It came with two chicken thighs and two "free breakfast at a hotel" size waffles. They claim that it's a shareable meal for two but we didn't agree. Chicken is cheap and so is waffle batter.....so $42.00 is a real stretch. The Don Julio margarita ($25.00) was more ice than anything else. The two purple rain drinks ($13.00 each) were the highlight of my evening. They absolutely made me wish that I had ordered three of them instead of wasting my money on that Don Julio margarita. I was even charged $3.00 for the ice....like what!?! We also had a Cobb salad with chicken that was also just ok. The complimentary homemade cheesy biscuits were flavorful. We ordered jumbo wings just to find out that there were no more wings left in the establishment My children ordered a mocktail for $8.00 each. Like c'mon no alcohol but $8.00!! Farm to table my you know what.... We were told misleading information about brunch. We arrived at like 1:40pm and really wanted brunch but we were informed that dinner was all that we could get. We were given conflicting information about when brunch would end. We did find out it was $55.00 per person and our toddler would have been free. The restaurant's ambience was nice. We sat in the Adirondack chairs (sort of difficult to actually dine from because of their positioning) in a nice remote controlled screened area with fire pits as the centerpieces. It would be nice for the fall, winter or even for socializing. Dequan (our designated server) was respectful, thoughtful and anticipated our needs very well. read more

I went to this restaurant for a business lunch meeting and really enjoyed myself. I sat on their outside terrace area and it was very cozy. They have square tables and round tables to choose from. At each of the round tables they had throw blankets on the chairs and some of the chairs have a little fuzzy pillows to sit with. They also allow dogs on their terrace. The inside of the restaurant is beautifully decorated, and it's set up sort of like a ski lodge in the mountains. The staff was very nice and accommodating. They constantly came and checked up on us. They accommodated me by sitting me close to an outlet since I needed to use my computer for the meeting. The drink I got was good. It was also strong which is to be expected since it's an old fashion. The food was delicious. I really enjoyed the brussels sprouts and the fried rice, they had so much flavor. They do have happy hour and I was able to enjoy that. they only have one food item on the happy hour menu, but they have a few drinks that are really well priced. BLUF: I've been back twice since the last review. Each time the experience was not up to standards on a declining scale. It leaves me wondering what happened. The host and our waiters are always warm and enthusiastic about the restaurant. The decor is beautiful which is one of the main reasons I keep coming back. There is nothing complex about the food, it's simple. Not that that's a bad thing, just setting the expectations. It's basically home cook'n, farm to table vibes. The start you off with biscuits which I really enjoy. I have had the Lodge Burger which was a basic cheese burger. I was kind of kicking myself because I didn't get something else. It was stacked between a fresh Brioche bun, with a good sized patty, thick slice of tomato, cheddar cheese, grilled onions, bacon and lettuce. It was okay, I don't think I would get it again, it just wasn't that special to me. And it was dry. It could have used more seasoning/flavor. I had the duck fries with a up charge and they were so worth it. The Crab Cakes are okay...they aren't Maryland Crab Cakes. And their salads are HUGE. The Chesapeake is probably my favorite dishes at The Lodge. The pasta is homemade so it was light fresh and just an overall good flavor. I keep coming back because the food is okay, the service is amazing and the decor is beautiful. It's worth checking out. read more

To begin on a positive note, I would like to commend our server, Rachel, whose attentive and patient service truly elevated our dining experience. For my granddaughter's 18th birthday celebration, my daughter made a reservation at 2:30 pm for a party of nine and specifically requested a private room, given that two toddlers and a 7-year-old would be in attendance. Upon our arrival, however, we were informed that a room was not available, and we then waited approximately 12 to 15 minutes while the staff prepared a table for our group. During this waiting period, we spoke with the general manager, Anthony, to clarify the discrepancy in the room reservation. He explained that, for larger parties, booking a room needs coordination with the events group and requires a deposit, and that if a larger group requests a room, this will automatically bump us out of the room. This information had not previously been communicated to my daughter, who was told that rooms were given on a first-come, first-served basis. While our table was being set and the area cleaned, we noticed that there was an unoccupied room. When we inquired about its availability, Anthony insisted that the room had been reserved. However, over the course of our two-plus-hour visit, the room was never used. When I asked Anthony how the restaurant intended to compensate us for the unexpected wait despite our reservation, his response was, "Compensate for what?" I stated the wait. We had reservations for 2:30pm. Why is our table not ready? He nonchalantly stated that they were preparing the tables as quickly as possible. I responded that I would not have expected this type of service in Annapolis. He said, "Have a good day," and walked away. Throughout our visit, we saw Anthony checking on other groups. He never, during the two-plus hours that we were there, came over to check on us, apologize for the delay, or even address the miscommunication on how rooms were booked. Before we left, my daughter requested to speak with the district manager, Max. I am not aware of the outcome of that conversation, but I felt it was important to provide this account of our experience. Customer service is everything! If Anthony had been apologetic, offered the birthday girl a free appetizer, and checked on us with apologies again for the mix-up, I would have written a different type of review. My takeaway from my experience to others is: if you make a reservation for a group, please write down the person's name, the date you called, and the time. The hostess, who initially said we were not listed for a room, stated that it was not she whom my daughter spoke with, yet, when my daughter asked her if she was fairly new, she stated yes. How would my daughter know that, unless it was because the person she spoke to stated that over the phone? read more

Very cozy vibes suitable for a large party (they did have a private room) , girls night or date night. The staff was very friendly. Our server was Ony and he was amazing. Very quiet at the bar on a Wednesday night, the bartender was all over the place forgetting things. Ordered the New York strip with a side of brussels sprouts... they lathered the New York strip with gravy. You only put gravy on meatloaf and mashed potatoes.... A childhood girlfriend and I decided to meet here for a late lunch the day after Christmas. I was a little late so she decided to lounge on the sofa facing the fireplace. When I arrived, we decided to stay there and enjoy the sofa and fireplace with the "feel" as if we were at the others' home. It was delightful!! My girlfriend was enjoying a glass of wine, so when our server, Tim, came over to take our drink order, we decided to order a bottle of their most popular Riesling (Schmitt Söhne). It was sooooo good! We were so pleasantly surprised! Tim came over to take our order time and time again and we were just enjoying our conversation. I came here for their first inaugural brunch last Sunday and had exceptional service! From sitting at the bar when I arrived early waiting for the rest of my party, to speaking with multiple management team members. I love the Christmas decor and wish it could stay this way. I feel like I need to go back before they take it down! Lol I didn't take many pictures of the food because when I got up to get it, I was enjoying that moment and focusing on holding a plate. However they did have an array of dishes to choose from which included fresh oysters from two different areas and an omelet station with more than eight items to choose from. They also have fresh cracked eggs at the omelette station! The only note I have is having each dish label with the components. The shrimp and grits I wanted to try but there were pork sausage in it and I'm glad I asked one of the management who were there refilling some of the food prior to adding it to my plate. I'm looking forward to going back. I do enjoy the Columbia location since it's a little bit closer to my job and happy hour but I may consider Annapolis on the weekends when traffic isn't so crazy to get down there. read more

They do NOT take reservations for general dining, so you can place your name on a wait list and they will text you when it's ready. Our wait was listed for 1.5 hours, when we got the text, we had only been waiting for a little bit over an hour. there are walkable restaurants to wait at for a drink if you'd like (Red Lobsters and Don Julio's) There seemed to be outdoor patio for dining, which would prob be great with lamp/heaters at this point of year Beautiful interior and table decor! Music was playing throughout the restaurant, with a live band that was to perform at 8 or 9pm. Decor was also set for the holiday, beautiful! Bathroom was clean Service was a bit slow. We were seated and waited a good 10 mins before anyone came for water. The young Man who delivered food to the table were super nice! My guest and I did not like the table bread. The bread was a bit flat and came with butter with chives. 1/5. We laid this to the side lol Drinks - 1/5 Smoked brown sugar old fashion- was told it tasted very sour Seasonal red sangria - this was very Bitter!! Food - 5/5 Braised beef short ribs - SOOOOOOOOOOOO good! The mashed potatoes were fresh and creamy. Vegs were good. I didn't even eat the whole dish. Ribs were tender and soft. Recommend! Red Brick Chicken - This dish was really good too (apparently!) There is a 3 course meal with wine pairing that you can reserve. Times are limited at 6pm and 8pm. My experience was positive from start to finish. Fred and I were excited to try out the lodge. The staff greeters were professional and got us seated within a few seconds upon arrival. We were greeted with professionalism and smiles. Sally our server was very pleasant. We were pleased with her recommendations. The apple mule was rich with cinnamon spice. The calamari was cooked to crisp. The biscuits were soft and just so delightful. My entree was the Mahi Mahi tacos and I was blown away from the taste. I couldn't even tell I was having seafood. I enjoyed my visit at The Lodge. The ambiance is great, definitely gave ski lodge vibes. They have a great menu with many items to choose from so I'll return to try something else. Our waitress was very welcoming and down to earth. Drinks: Whiskey sour and Specialty old fashioned. I forgot which whiskey was used but the drinks were stronger than what I usually get from other places. Food: short rib flatbread. Ehh, the flatbread was a little dry, really no sauce, but the rib was good. If they were to tweak the recipe, this would be really good. Short rib meal was alright. Again, the short rib was tasty, tender but only came with one rib which wasn't that much. The Brussel sprouts were just ok, lacked flavor. The cheddar biscuits weren't bad, a little hard and dry.
