The burger was okay but it lacked a little pizzazz; there were literally 8 fries (see pic) on my plate. 252 Paying a visit to Jacksonville, we stop into this clean little eatery with less than an hour before they close, strung out from a day of travel. Still, they're cheerful and helpful. Someone from behind the cashier suggests the chicken pesto pizza - something new for me but I like chicken and I like pesto, so why not? My companion gets her usual chicken sandwich. The wait is about 15-20 minutes and both are fresh and well made. The pizza is not something that most would think of when they think pizza but it does hit the spot. The crust is especially good, and would be delicious bread on its own. THE ONION RINGS ARE CRUNCHY GOOD. The fountain drinks are good - not always a given - and feature the soft crushed ice that make such drinks addictive. Good job guys, and thanks for your patience. Normally don't have an issue with restaurants but decided to download Yelp for this. Ordered simple things , took 40 minutes to be served our food. Asked them to box it up because we could no longer eat and everyone in the place had left that was there before us and received food there after us. Manager talked to us and was super rude , didn't care at all even though we were super polite about everything. I didn't know that The Loop existed until I moved to Jax a couple of years ago and never went because I just had no idea. But since the San Marco location got renovated, this is one my go to stops for a great delicious quick bite (usually before watching a movie at the San Marco theater). The whole restaurant got a complete facelift. So clean with modern touches and still feels welcoming. One of my favorite things to order are the burgers, but a must try is the tomato bisque soup and the Gorgonzola salad (definitely need to try if you want something on the healthier side). As always The Loop was delish! The people were nice and this location looks really nice in all the new fancy Dancy stylish decor. I had the BBQ pizza without the chicken #vegetarian and it was amazing! I definitely recommend it and if you must eat chicken on it I'm telling you it's delicious! There was even a really nice guy walking asking if people needed stuff, which was really cool. He brought my friend some parmesan cheese and said hey-I noticed you may be finishing up, can I get you a to go box? Super nice and helpful! Really nice midweek dinner tonight at The Loop restaurant on Southside Boulevard. This location has been recently refurbished and updated. It is very clean and nice. My wife and I shared a Mediterranean pizza which was delicious. My daughter had a yummy gluten free cheese burger. She is a big fan of their Steak Fries. She also had one of their banana milkshakes. We love The Loop. It's one of our favorite places. Parking is easy. The prices are fair. The service is great. We spoke to someone working there tonight who has been working there for 14 years. I love this location. Nice and cozy, a nice simple setup. I love this whole San Marco area. The customer service here is always a good thing. I mostly get take-out. I either call or walk-in. When I do walk in, the order is done in a timely manner. Like most Loop restaurants they give you a buzzer to let you know that your order is ready.I just really like polite people and this place has a whole bunch of them. The burgers are really good. Underrated I believe. The blue cheese chips are always a must when I go. Always great flavor and never too much blue cheese.Mostly I stick with the burgers, they never let me down. The Loop Pizza Grill is one of Jacksonville's signature restaurants - a true staple of the city and its people. A combo that gladly walk hand in hand through the nations largest city [land wise]. This location of The Loop is the original location, the first ever Loop opened in 1981 - and it is amazing. There are not enough amazing words to say about this restaurant. It is so good that this small local pizza place has now spread to two other states and has many many locations. Must haves: the Pepperoni Pizza. It is, to me, the very essence of this restaurant. Also, you must try their French Fries with Ranch Dressing for dipping. And don't forget their Gorganzola Walnut Salad [to die for] with its pairing of rich Gorganzola with sun dried tomatoes, roma tomatoes, walnuts, and mixed greens, topped with their homemade croutons and served with their Balsamic Dressing. Funny story about the Balsamic Dressing... my boyfriend in high school worked at The Loop his senior year. That summer, we were at camp in North Carolina and he came to the dinner table [it was a buffet] with his salad and a cup of brown sauce. I asked him what it was and he said it was Balsamic Dressing. Was he ever surprised to discover it was actually Chocolate Pudding. It was to his sad misfortune that the Balsamic Dressing at The Loop is so thick and delicious one just might mistake chocolate pudding for the creamy, vinegary concoction. The Loop is good if you like a decent burger and a serious milkshake. Staff was friendly and the restrooms were clean. They have pizza. They could almost pass for a American bistro. Only one of those damn TVs in the place, wish they would shut it off. You order at the counter, pay, they page you with one of those light-up flashing gadgets, and you pick-up at the counter. We left something for the bus-guy (he was older then 10 bus-boys added together). The San Marco area is attempting to be hip and boutique, but it ain't gonna happen. I used to come for meals all of the time when I lived in San Marco for 10.5 years. I have been back a few times in the past. I am not sure when they changed to decor, but they did a great job. I came with a friend and he had the Tomato bisque and said it was delicious. Low and behold-I had the Asian salad that was delicious and I ate it before I took a picture of it. It was a great salad under $10.00. I can't wait to return to have another one and to try the Tomato Bisque. The Cashier was very polite, helpful and patient as I struggled with what to order. This is my first visit to this particular location. It was busy but not unmanageably so. When we approach the counter the girl was helping somebody else and we waited in line with maybe three other groups. The line went fairly quickly. We ordered one make your own pizza, one BBQ chicken pesto pizza, one portobello bacon pizza, onion rings and a bowl of tomato bisque. The tomato bisque was very good as usual. barbecue chicken pizza was excessively spicy and the menu doesn't say spicy but somehow it was spicy. My son could not eat it. When I order came up they had made one of the pizzas wrong and it took 15 minutes for them to get the right one out while everybody else already ate their pizza. When we rang up the order and ordered the soup and onion rings I asked the girl if she could make that first and she said no it's too late and I asked if she could go let the kitchen no and she said no she wasn't going back there which was all of a 10 foot walk. Then she ran out of customers and walked back there anyway but didn't bother to tell them. After that I snapped a picture of her standing around looking at the menu. She was totally rude and unaccommodating. Very matter-of-fact about her unwillingness to help us. When the order came up I discovered that she never put in the order for the onion rings. We had to order them after-the-fact and wait another five or 10 minutes for them. So much for the appetizer I guess it was dessert. My pizza was a bacon portobello and it was tasty but light on the portobello mushrooms. The texture of the pizza is decent, better than your average chain fast food pizza like dominoes. For nine dollars the 8" pizzas were substantially overpriced because you can get a decent twice that size for half the price most anywhere but I guess you're paying for sitting at the restaurant. When we finally got our onion rings they were quite tasty, but the sauce they get with that is nothing but mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup makes together and it tastes like mustard, nasty. It's a shame that this place is in such a nice neighborhood so they are pretty much guaranteed business and feel that they can be complacent about customer service. There is a bus boy that walks around cleaning tables and that is nice. All in all I give the food a 3 of 5 and that is stretching it, the atmosphere may be a 3 1/2 to 4 for what it is, and the service gets a one or maybe less. We won't be back there are way too many nice choices in the same neighborhood. read more

This is my second time to this restaurant. I was here exactly one year ago. Both visits were perfect. I had a burger both times and the burgers were awesome. The rest of my group had really good food too, no complaints at all. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are decent. The place isn't too big and when you walk in it looks like you need to wait to be seated but instead you go up to the counter and order your food and then find a place to sit on your own. I ordered a small salad and waited almost an hour and then went up to the cashier to check on my order, upon which they said they would check on it. I waited another 15 minutes. Nothing, they just kept me waiting. Mind you this is just a small salad not a 3 course French meal. Everyone in front of me got there order already, finished eating and left. They made absolutely no effort to make my salad, try to address my super long wait, so I just asked for my money back and left. They. Like have cared less. We asked her to have a table cleaned off for us (as all the other tables also needed bussed) and she snapped back and said "I'm busy right now" when she clearly wasn't-- so, after waiting a couple minutes for her to finish what she was supposedly doing, she went to the side and got on her cell phone. We eventually got our table cleaned, with an attitude, and table left soaked. As I'm typing this, I see another employee in the kitchen, on their phone, with tables still needing bussed. Worked here back in the day, 1980s, so came back w/fiancee to show him 'Chicago-style' pizza in Jax. I had a beer (in a can, no draft). Our cashier had no familiarity with the beer types offered...I had to point out the IPA. We ordered a personal cheese pizza with no bleu cheese, that took 45 minutes to deliver. It arrived to us with bleu cheese. We sent it back, & it came back 10 mins later, as if they scraped off the toppings & added new cheese, but no sauce. It was dry & not Chicago-style @ all. We threw it out rather than ask for someone to give a sht. It was New Years Eve, but if you're not going to try, close up for the night. I have been going to this loop for about 13 years now and in the last 6+ months the service and the food have been horrible. The order is ALWAYS wrong we we show up to pick up our order (or wrong when a delivery service delivers to our home, and then we end up driving to the restaurant anyways), the fries are always soggy when we order the fries crispy, half the time they don't even have food items available. Last night, a Friday, after my son played a baseball game we went to the Loop. We arrived at 9:45pm, 15 minutes before closing. We were not alone, it was packed. There was a line both in front of us and behind. I kept looking at the time thinking, gosh it seemed like people were never going to stop coming in. Wondering when they would finally lock the door. You could see the staff was obviously stunned and overwhelmed. But they all handled the rush like pros. Front of house was nice and worked hard to please all. The kitchen staff, peeked out several times to confirm the rush, but pushed though and sent out great food one order after the next. My Loop burger was just as I ordered it, medium rare. Pizza was amazing, chips, our fries were hot and steaming. The place has had a face lift and it is bright and lovely. Love the family style tables in the middle. No matter how nice a place looks-it is the food and staff that can make or break a place. Great job guys! All the guest seemed happy and we left a full restaurant to go home. No one felt rushed. The staff now able to breath normally for the first time since I got there, were now wishing us a nice evening on our way out like they were happy we came in. They really hit one out of the park and got a grand slam in our opinion. read more

Watched them fill 15+ to go orders while people dining in are waiting upwards of 30 minutes for their food. The 6 people in front of me haven't gotten their food either. I'm currently at 25 minutes for a grilled mushroom. Staff seems completely lost and frantic. They keep their clocks 5 minutes slow, and I understand why. This is a quick service restaurant, meaning you order your food at the counter and they give you a buzzer to alert you when it is ready. I've been to almost every location in town and they are all great. Aside from San Marco, there is one in Avondale on St. Johns Ave., the Southside on Southside and Baymeadows, and in OP on Wells Rd. Unless either are on the extremes of the scale I rarely, if ever, mention service or price. First, let's talk about the food. I sincerely think that the only menu item that may be homemade are the potato chips. When it comes to everything else it seems as though they just open the box/container, heat/cook, and send. It must be stated that the quality of the pre-made, brought-in stuff was decent; but, brought in none the less. The food alone is worth 2 stars. That having been said, the staff was stellar! Everyone from the manager to the busser was highly conscientious and accommodating. The Oreo milkshake is the shizzle fo rizzle...I just had one yesterday and came to write about it and lo and behold, I see a review about that very thing. It's thick and delicious and all the things that milkshakes are supposed to be. I honestly think it's pretty hard to mess up a milkshake if you have milk, ice cream and a blender. I've tried the sausage and goat pizza. My co-workers raved and hollered about how good it was so we got one. It was pretty good, but perhaps because it wasn't super "out the oven" fresh, I was not so impressed. I think I actually preferred the Mellow Mushroom. But I realize the Loop was not given an absolutely fair chance so I will have to try it again. Especially the bisque it seems. They have several Jax locations, the newest is in the Bartram Park area.
