Celebrating our giant college boy's 21st birthday, we made a reservation at Windsor through their…read morewebsite which uses a Toast reservation system. I had indicated our special occasion on the reservation, and our table was ready when we arrived a few min before 4 on Wednesday. Nate was one of our servers, and he was fun and outgoing. A small table placard recognized the birthday and so did the servers. After being carded for the first time, son asked a few questions about the cocktail menu and draft beer choices. At Nates suggestion, husband ordered only a taster of the smoky beer of the moment, which tasted to me like a foul combination of Budweiser and smoked salmon. Pass. No one at out table wanted a pitcher of that, so he settled on a blonde ale. Son ordered a tropical banana dark rum drink and I went with a girly pink gin item. Happy hour till 5 included $6 cocktails and 32 oz pitchers. Food isn't discounted but the drinks are a steal! Appetizers were corn dog pups with crispy pickles and a pile of sweet potato fries. Wow, they sure know how to do appetizers here, the corn dogs were gobbled up. The pickle slices appeared to be dredged in mostly cornmeal, a flaky crunchy outside with the familiar cornmeal texture. Sweet fries were very crisp also, an excellent version considering I order them out often. There were also burgers all around with the men having bacon cheese burgers, one with the steak sauce and onions on the side. Both had very nice crunchy regular potato french fries. Burgers were cooked medium and medium well. The medium was a little pinker than expected but still all devoured. The griddled onions turned out to be a richly caramelized big hit at our table, we all loved them. I thought they complimented my pastrami burger nicely. Husband even used some of the A1 like steak sauce which he asked for on the side. I ordered the burger special, a smash patty with pastrami on top, cheese and Russian dressing. Wowza even with a lettuce wrap this burger rocked! The horseradish in the dressing is noticeable and delicious. So much better than Thousand Island! I chose the kale side salad as my side instead of more sweet potato fries, and regretted it. Although the kale salad has yummy almonds and dried cranberries, the baby kale they used was very stemmy. I picked out the good stuff and left the leaves and stems. At the conclusion of our meal, we discovered the postcard on the table was good for anything birthday boy wanted from the ice cream shop Churn next door. Ordered right at the table, he received an everything but the kitchen sink sort of sundae, with chocolate and peanut butter ice cream, peanut sauce and whipped cream. I must relay the fantastic quality of the ice cream itself. Toppings aside, this is an super rich decadent ice cream. I would love to come back and try some more delectable flavors at Churn. The tag team servers were awesome, each one very knowledgeable and they kept up with my water refills. We were given a good opportunity to order again at last call for happy hour, which I appreciate although we did not. My regret is I took no photographs to commemorate the occasion, or document the food and drink we consumed. But everyone was so kind and recognized the birthday, I think it was a special evening deserving timely recognition. Upward Projects really does a great job, and the staff sure knows how to host a party at Windsor!

Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. Our waiter was rude, our water glasses were consistently empty, and she didn't check on us. When we asked questions about the menu, she responded with a blank expression and offered little help. We made our reservation specifically for the live saxophone music, but when we arrived, there was none. When we asked about it, we were told the musician was running late and would arrive later. We waited until the time we were given, but they never showed up. This was incredibly disappointing, as live music was the main reason we made the reservation. Our waiter never mentioned anything about it, only the hostess informed us, which we appreciated. She also kindly refilled our water. Additionally, when we made the reservation, it stated that CityScape parking would be validated. I handed our ticket to the waitress, and she was gone for about five minutes before returning it and saying it had been validated. However, when we went to leave, we found out it had not been validated, and we had to pay for parking. Overall, the experience was very disappointing. Because of the poor service, lack of communication about the live music (despite it being advertised), and the parking issue, I would not return.

The place is right out of a movie (maybe "Roadhouse" or "Urban Cowboy minus the mechanical bull). It's part biker bar, part honky Tonk, pub, and cocktail bar. We came for the burgers and were not disappointed. They were absolutely solid and worth it in every way. The nice, fresh beef patty was grilled to perfection and set in a soft bun with all the usual trimmings. I'd recommend you add thousand island for an extra touch of goodness. The resulting burger was juicy and meaty and drippy and excellent. It was not a throwaway "bar-food" item. The menu has a lot of great things in it, including sandwiches and all manner of comfort food and bar staples. A big surprise were the onion rings and ranch dressing. They were some of the best I'd had in a while. I found them better than the fries which were fairly standard. Others have complained about the service, but ours was really good at lunchtime on a weekday. Our server was also the bartender, and she was attentive and nice, albeit busy with all the workers that frequent this joint. It's filled with a mix of blue-collar, cops, office people, truckers, bikers, and just plain folks. And they play some great songs on the jukebox. Definitely worth it. And try one of the burger variations on the menu (with bacon or mushrooms, avocado, etc).

That said, my experiences with service have been inconsistent. My husband and I came in for breakfast one morning and, while the server seemed to be doing his best, he appeared overwhelmed and possibly understaffed. It took quite a while before we were greeted, and service throughout the meal felt slow as he juggled multiple tables. On a separate visit, I ordered takeout. Unfortunately, the hostess who greeted me wasn't very welcoming, and there was another noticeable wait before my food was ready. The pricing is a bit on the higher side, but I will say the burger itself was excellent--great flavor, a nice char, and a generous portion of fries. Overall, this place has a lot of potential given its atmosphere and food quality, but improving customer service--especially front-of-house friendliness and efficiency--would make a big difference. If you're already staying at the hotel, it's worth checking out, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to return.

It was beautiful outside, very earthy feels but we were placed at the table in front of the door and felt the artic, cold draft every time someone went inside in or out. The staff was rather quiet and dull. No one really interacted with us. We said less than 3-4 full sentences with the server. The food was good. We got the bread board. The fig jam is incredible. The salmon with zater seasoning tastes blackened but the citrus bourbon glaze made the dish. The risotto was the best dish! It would be better if the carrots and asparagus were chopped up and in the risotto. The risotto was so flavorful. Shrimp was good but please take off the salad garnish because it has no dressing and just felt like it was there to fill the bowl, but we would order it again! I would come back but it wouldn't be a staple. The food was great but there was no experience for this price.
