So, walked in, cute little spot downtown, waiter was friendly & helpful. But we're here for the food: Let's start with the garlic bread. I think they forgot to put the garlic on it! Lol. Joel's fish & chips: said they lacked seasoning, no cajun flavor at all. The fries were good though, lol. My food. The cajun trio: the seafood gumbo lacked flavor, seafood and depth. The jambalaya was salty, dry, and the rice was mushy. It taste as if it had been sitting for a long time. The etoufee? Oh, it was sad. It taste like a version of Campbell's soup, but bland. I ate the salad & returned the rest. We left a tip because our waiter was nice, but we left sad. Master of fact, we ended up at Whole Foods that had a gumbo soup on their hot bar- that taste better than the gumbo here. Sorry, not sorry.

So I saw the pictures on yelp and thought I had to come and try because of how good it looked. I ordered the fried fish and fries and the gumbo trio: lobster bisque, red beans and rice, and chicken and sausage. Everything was so good. The portions were also huge. The fries were also seasoned really well. I would definitely order again if I'm in the area and I'm craving Cajun. One thing I would add is extra tartar sauce, one container just doesn't do it. Service was great was greeted upon arrival and order came out really quick. I came in mid afternoon and it didn't seem that busy. Ambiance gave bar vibes because of the huge bar, and if I had not known about this place and based it upon looks, I probably would have been turned off, since I don't really do bars... but I did take out. So problem solved:-)

Saw this restaurant on yelp'd liked the menu, asked the desk clerk at the hotel I am staying at and she told me she comes here regularly. I sat at the bar and was served by a friendly young bartender named Leslee. I told her I wanted the gumbo trio and picked my 3 choices. I had the chicken and sausage gumbo, red beans and rice and the jambalaya. Best Cajun I have eaten since my trip to New Orleans. Awesome customer service by Leslee. My next trip to Greenville, I will be back.

Delicious! So glad I decided to try this spot. While out of town on business I found this gem. Although parking might be a problem because it is downtown, it's well worth it. I had the fried catfish and shrimp combo with the crispy fried okra and it was spot on. I'm not a catfish eater but the server recommended it and I'm glad she did. The music was so nice. The place is clean and everyone was so friendly. I will definitely visit this spot again.

What a wonderful time we had at the Lost Cajun. We had great service and wonderful food. The place was fun and had a fabulous bar. Make sure to ask for the sampler!! It's a great way to start your dining experience.

    Empty Gumbo sampler flight.

Had a late lunch that we enjoyed. They brought us a "sample flight" of their gumbo and Cajun classics which was nice because it changed my order. Of the things on the flight, I liked the chicken and sausage gumbo the best. The jambalaya was alright; but the others weren't remarkable or particularly flavorful. I ordered the half Zydeco Shrimp po-boy and that was a winner. The shrimp were crispy but not greasy and the bread was light. I asked for extra Zydeco sauce on the side bc I wanted a bit more than was on the sandwich. (FWIW, they put the shrimp on the bread and then applied the sauce, rather than tossing the shrimp in the sauce and then putting on the bread.) My wife had the Cat-Toufee, crispy fried catfish on rice covered with crawfish etoufee. The fish was excellent, the rice was well prepared, but the etoufee lacked real flavor or actual crawfish. That said, we'd go back. All in all, we enjoyed it. Our server (Leslie) was friendly and attentive.

We absolutely loved this restaurant in Greenville! This was easily the best meal we had while in town. We were looking for a place that we could easily walk to from our hotel and were immediately excited to find a Cajun place. As soon as you walk in, the restaurant has a fun funky, New Orleans vibe. It is decorated with all things Mardi Gras. The waitresses are all awesome and excellent at suggesting dishes. We wanted to try different things so we ordered several options and mostly shared. Some of our favorite things were the crispy fried pickles, delicious beignets, flavorful jambalaya and yummy hush puppies. My husband loved the fried sausage, he ordered the Captain's platter and loved all of the seafood. One of the less adventurous kids ordered a burger, it was a good size and the fries were really tasty. Obviously, we were on vacation so the calories didn't count! Ha! We will definitely make a point to go back again when in Greenville!

Visited The Lost Cajun for the first time yesterday. There was no wait which was a plus! Our waiter greeted us in a polite manner, quickly got our drink & food orders in. Food and drinks were delicious! The environment was lovely as well. If you want to taste delicious food based from New Orleans, The Lost Cajun is the place for you! 10/10!!!

Dropped in for lunch. Pretty good menu, went with the Gumbo & Cajun Classic Trio. Good deal you can choose 3 of the classics. i went with the crawfish etouffe, seafood gumbo and jambalaya. It was all pretty good. The jambalaya was a little on the dry side but it was perfect when I added a little crawfish etouffe to it. The subtle and intentional heat on the dishes were spot on. The service was good and fast. Good music in the background. Enjoyed the experience.

I stopped in Greenville for lunch on the way back to Atlanta. The bartender Jason was really nice and personable. I ordered the chargrilled oysters with a cup of lobster bisque. The oysters cone with grilled bread, which is a nice touch. They were buttery and flavorful. The lobster bisque did not disappoint. I will definitely be back to check out some additional menu items.

Loved this place!! Went here for lunch! Had a Bloody Mary because I needed some love and this place provided it. Super gorgeous waitress bartender. Drinking the bloody and she gives me a sample platter of red beans and rice, all the gumbos, etouffee, all delicious. I ended up doing a trio of goodness. Red beans and rice money! One of the gumbos which was again money and then the etoufee but everything was delicious.

IIIII like good food and I cannot lie…read more.... I will preface this all by saying I have been coming to Greenville for almost 15 years for work. maybe only once a year but still... I love the city and the people. Fall for Greenville is fantastic!! Onto my review -- I was visiting Greenville for work this past week and was staying at the Aloft. I did a quick online search for a new food / dining destination when i saw ABYSS... Since it is right beside my hotel I decide to give it a go! Wow, what a treat. I sat at the bar. Bartender was top shelf Ali i think... She made me a paper plane without having to look it up . The happy hour menu was a pretty amazing value so i tried a couple of pieces from it. Bluefin "nachos" ie wontons.... Great!! Scallops and bacon sliders.. great!! Then I decided to also add the Wagyu - crispy rice. Also great!! But you know what else really sets this place apart? The Fries! Crazy but here's my take. Everyone is doing fancy pretentious, parm, truffle garlic blah blah blah.... These fries had a unique slender (thin but wide) cut, seasoned lightly. and cooked to perfection. you can tell they take it all very seriously here. from the Chefs all the way to the greeters. It's like they all took Yes chef training at "The Bear" IYKYK...Fantastic attentive service. Highly recommend and look forward to visiting again!

They all help each other out and don't make excuses. ( such as "your not my table."). This is excellent. Cocktails were okay. Espresso martini was cute with octopus design but it was average at best. Dirty martini was similar...a plus for the blue cheese stuffed olives. Appetizer of cooked oysters with parmesan and bone marrow was okay. In my opinion, there should be a slight char on the top. It was okay. Would probably not get again. The main courses are amazing. You cannot go wrong. Dessert is fair. The hazelnut dessert for a birthday person is the best and not even on the menu. The tiramisu was fair .different in that it was very dense. Overall this is quite expensive. The estimated tip on the receipt it's based on the meal plus taxes. So be aware of this. My advice for this place is stick with basic drinks, get the entrees and pass on dessert.

Honestly, all of the staff we encountered were so helpful, I was very impressed. The bar area is first come, first served. The oysters were fresh and I was given the choice for the sizes of them. The aoili and onions paired so well together. I can't wait to return for this and dinner service. Fries were fresh and crispy. Soby's just won the Wine Spectator Grand Award (highest possible) and a Michelin recommended restaurant for 2025. And it shows. We didn't get any wine this evening, but the menu is as thick as a long novel. Anything and everything is in this puppy. Wines from all over the world, ranging from a few bucks to over $13,000 a bottle. Take your pick. We opted for some beer and cocktails, all of which were perfect. The food. This southern inspired menu with local ingredients was fantastic. We had a spicy pimento cheese app with crispy pita and pickled okra...delish! The beet and goat cheese salad was one of the best we've had. The pic speaks for itself there. The Soby's fried chicken is something you HAVE to get if you go. Soby's serves Southern charm before the food even hits the table. (And if your experience is anything like mine, you will be waiting awhile for the food to hit the table.) Weathered wood beams stretch overhead, brick walls hold decades of character, and the warm lighting makes the whole room glow like butter on a hot biscuit. The kitchen hums with the kind of energy that says brunch is serious business. If you sit upstairs at the loft, there are some seats that overlook the kitchen so it's like brunch and a show. The pecan sticky bun is sweet enough to make you reconsider sharing though I wouldn't know because they ran out of it before 11:00a. Service was friendly and quick on the front end, though the kitchen's food expeditors seemed a little short-handed. The result? A slight wait that left some eggs spending a bit too much quality time under the heat lamps. My Shakshuka dish had an egg-istential crisis. Instead of that luscious over-easy river of yolk, the eggs arrived closer to hard-boiled territory--less "runny brunch bliss" and more "deviled egg audition." Thankfully, our waiter expedited another over easy egg to replace the one that came with my dish. The Providence Farm Country Fried Steak was the undeniable headliner--about 1.5 inches thick and fried to golden perfection. Smothered in sausage gravy, it was the kind of dish that makes cardiologists nervously flip through their calendars. The flavor? Steak-ing its claim as one of the better country fried steaks around. The sunny-side egg, however, had clearly spent a little too long basking beneath the warming lights alongside my shakshuka. But, if you come for one thing only, let it be the white chocolate banana cream pie. As I've heard Southern Belles say in gest, "it'll make you wanna slap your mama." In short: rustic atmosphere, an energetic kitchen, and Southern food that doesn't just butter you up--it grits straight to the point.
