I've always come to this place and never had an issue before. I paid $89 for my order, and they gave me garlic instead of spicy. The sauce looks and tastes like water--this was the worst experience I've ever had here. I live 45 minutes away, and when I called, they said they couldn't offer any kind of compensation for a future order. The only option was to drive all the way back so they could remake it. It's so bad I can't even eat it. The sauce is terrible. You pay all this money, just for them to tell you that you have to drive back up there. It should have been done right the first time. This marks my second visit to the establishment, and I was pleased to find that my experience was more enjoyable this time around. On my initial visit, the entire restaurant had a strong fish odor, which, although expected for a seafood venue, unfortunately affected the flavor of my chicken strips. However, on this occasion, I opted for the fried shrimp basket, while my boyfriend chose the boil, and both dishes were exceptionally tasty. The service was satisfactory, with polite staff. The owner sent me a message on my last review. He gave me an apology and told me next time to tell the server how I want my food cooked because some people are really picky. I have taking my family here many times and spent lots of money because it was great and worth it. Let me say that again it was great and worth it! So no sir, 'm not picky. I don't like mushy shrimp and I shouldn't have to eat it or feed it to my family either. I shouldn't have to throw away inedible seafood and a lot of it! That was my biggest concern sir. It was that the shrimp was too mushy almost like a baked potato texture. Mushy shrimp can be a sign of old, poorly stored, or overcooked shrimp, or shrimp that has been thawed and refrozen. Fresh shrimp should have a firm, slightly resilient texture. I'm pretty sure the owner knows this. The manager definitely should know this. So I'm not being picky. I'm also not trying to tell any server how to cook my seafood at a seafood establishment that specializes in SEAFOOD. Again this place has gotten five stars from me many times! Because it was great!!! I'm not gonna lie I miss this place it's been 3 years! It sucks when a place you really love, your family loves, disappoints you. I would drive from Table Rock to pick up my order. I have never eaten inside. The risk of me spending $200 to $300, which I did every Friday for 5 months straight for my wife and I date night, just to have the rest of the night "without kids" on date night ruined over some mushy salty take out is not something I'll ever do again. There was a time when I truly enjoyed Crab Du Jour. However, things have changed. I had visited multiple times. On my last visit, September 29, I ordered my usual king crab legs, but this time they served me king crab legs with claws. It was the first time I had ever seen this. I realized the situation and asked to speak with the manager. The server told me the manager wasn't there, so I called later. The person who answered said she was the manager. When I asked about the claws, she said they serve them that way. To my surprise, I have never been to any place that does this. The waiter was nice, but the so‑called supervisor was not, and in my opinion, should not be in a managerial position. I did submit a review to the main headquarters, and it's been two weeks with no response, which is why I'm sharing this now. If there was no star I would have chosen that for multiple reasons such as the leadership, the meal, and the response were a few. Also, their lack of friendliness and professionalism. Go to another place rather 1209 Woodruff Road Greenville, SC. This place is not worth paying the amount especially when they make excuses for their services. read more

Met a friend here for lunch first time here. Well the place was clean and the restroom was clean . Staff not to friendly, seems like they all rather be somewhere else. The food was okay, they have nothing baked or broiled. So if you can't eat fried food this place isn't for you! Since, I can't eat fried foods....... I got a house salad lettuce, cucumbers, shredded cheese and rotten cherry tomatoes. Dressing that's restaurant quality, comes in small cups not even homemade and had a funny taste . They have no vinaigrette dressings. Clam chowder soup was okay, not great but okay. Would i recommend this place no. But each to there own everyone has different opinions. Would I take my family here to eat no. The other thing is watch your bills when they come out and make sure what you ordered is on the bill our bill came out with a bunch of stuff that we didn't order was in the bill. Thoroughly enjoyed my build your own combo selection. By all means try the LEMON PEPPER sauce. It was delightful and a perfect complement to my combo selections. Their hushpuppies are quite good! My son has the Seaquench ale--tart, citrusy and paired well with the seafood. My only suggestion? For a CAROLINA SEAFOOD venue, for pete's sake , play CAROLINA BEACH MUSIC--chairmen of the Board, Embers, Swinging Medallions, Tams, etc. but spare us Britny Spears-please. Ate here before a few years ago and it was good but this time, it was lackluster. We were only the third table at this restaurant when we arrived. It makes zero sense for us to wait an hour for our food (and we ordered three items - no seafood boils). And our server was NO where to be found. Took forever for food, flagging her down to get the check, pick up the check, etc. by this time there was only one additional table. Totally ruined my grand-daughter's birthday! The manager was rude & didn't care the it had taken super hot & long for service. One of the customers at table behind us sent their food back and they got drink after their food was served more than 5 minutes. Then when we spoke with management she act as if was ok and never apologized & tried to correct the issues. Customer card was double charged & manager said it had even though the customer verified it on her phone from alerts from bank card or credit card. Horrible service This was the worse crab boil I have ever had. We was seated & to wait over 25 minutes before drinks or server came to table. And I had to go to bar to order water & drinks still took over 10 minutes ! We were seated at a table that wasn't clean. Butter sauce was on wall & paper mat, napkin & condiments on table. It was hot in lower level area. But the air was cool on the outer upper level. We were given FOLKS to crack the crabs with. And not to mention there was little to no sauce inside the bags. The sausages were cut so thin and the items were not properly weighed. I had 4 super small scallops 4 to 5 shrimp & 4-5 maybe before five muscles. I'm surprised by the negative reviews for this place. My friend and I had an excellent experience, and that was likely due to our great server, Elena. I had never had this sort of serving style, so I was glad to get a run down. I ordered the double crab legs with garlic seasoning -- I did not want any hot level to it. It came in the bag, which the server shook up and emptied for me. LOTS of food with the red potatoes and half ear of corn, plus I had added sausage and egg. My only complaint was that Elena recommended adding those without mentioning the up charge (another $7.50 added to my bill). While others complained about the scissor-like cracker, I actually liked it and thought it made it a little easier to eat the crab legs, but I do agree that I missed the tiny forks. While eating though, I can't figure out ANY way to stay clean. I had the juice from everything dripping on my hands and arms. This would definitely not be a great date location unless you're not afraid to get messy. The food was DELICIOUS. My friend got gumbo and crab cakes and said both were fantastic. We even tried the dulce du leche dessert, and it was quite tasty, though very sweet. I will absolutely go back again. The decor was very cheesy, which we enjoyed. If I could give zero stars I would, this place was on my top Five worst restaurants in my 60 years of life on this planet. First. The music... the owner/manager must of taken the day off. The music was heavy gangster/thug rap music, simply lyrics you would hear in a locker room not appropriate for family dining with children. Second. Clean your beer lines. Both my wife's beer & mine tasted stall, flat and skunked. We could not finish either one. Water tasted better. Third, Blue Point Oysters on the half shell. We ordered a dozen, we ate one each and sent them back. First taste was of plane water, no salt or brine. They must of been going bad so they rinsed them in fresh clean water to get rid of the rancid smell. The after taste made me gag. As far as the shucking goes, only one side has been cut free of the shell. Just plane nasty. Fourth, service. I had better at a Waffle House at 3:00 AM. The server had fake finger nails about three inches long, very dirty. Do yourself a favor and spend your hard earned money at better and more dissevering establishments. read more

What an exciting and well decorated place to walk into! Pirates and sharks and all sort of interesting sea creatures decorated the walls, ceiling and entry way. It was a bit noisy but that just seems to fit with the entire experience. I ordered the fried softshell crab basket and was pleasantly surprised to find that you can order 1, 2 , or 3 softshell crabs. I chose 2 and the cajun fries. Low Mediocre. This was out first time at Crab Du Jour and all four gave it a low mediocre rating. There were some good things and some bad things worth noting. First the GOOD. It was easy to make our reservation and we were greeted by a friendly host when we arrived. Our server was also friendly but seemed stretched between tables (labor shortage?) so we gave her the benefit of the doubt. Great ambience that is pretty much the same as the prior restaurant located here. Now the BAD. The food! Our calamari appetizer was way over-breaded. So were the various seafood entrees (baskets). Everyone commented that the breading almost completely obliterated the awareness and taste of the seafood. I decided to try the "Make Your Own" package (scallops and headless shrimp) with the house seasoning. Interesting presentation but very messy experience. I disliked it. The seasoning was so over-salted that it ruined the seafood. I could hardly taste it. Bottom line - None of us will return. Unhealthy and not tasty! read more

We have gone to this location twice since its "grand opening", and still no seating at the obvious bar, and still no liquor license. Why? We like to have a cold beer with a shrimp/crab leg boil,...and the other location has drinks (or did this past December or so). We turned around and walked out. I almost gave this restaurant 3 stars but it was a $100+ dollar meal and *some* of the worst food we've ever had. The two stars are for the crab; they do have really delicious crab. That was the best part. The sauces were also decent. Unfortunately, the corn on the cob was overcooked. It was hands down the worst corn on the cob I've ever tasted. We also got a few oysters to start, but shouldn't have. It's not oyster season so I can't completely blame the restaurant. But, the oysters were tasteless and rubbery. Hands down the worst oysters I have ever had. We were also annoyed with the bag and glove sh!t. It just wasn't helpful at all. Two servers walked right by us and didn't even speak. We've eaten at the one on Woodruff and loved it. Definitely will not be back to this location. Ok, the food was freshly cooked and hot. We both ordered baskets because we figured it would be quick. It was. If we had been enjoying ourselves, we would have had drinks and probably a steam bag or lobster. Lesson learned. We had Valerie who informed us it was her 3rd job and she didn't know much about the menu or drinks . We told her of a bad experience eating from "bags" but we still got them brought out anyway,. The scallops were ruined and flavorless/Colorless/ in a bag of mush. I never would have thought that scallops with corn and potoatoes would all be boiled in a bag and served. Crab Du Jour's manager, John, personally came out to make sure that this seasonal item would be prepared to our liking, ~ Cajun heavily breaded with hearty herbs or northern Virginia lightly breaded style (like Maryland softshell crab). We opted for the perfectly cooked VA style crab and added a Combo #1 to this take-out order. Mussels get a check marks, seasoned shrimp two checks, snow crab done correctly and then there was corn on the cob 'n potatoes. Happy, Happy Wife with this surprise meal. I just went there and yes its 20 minutes before they are "closed" (10pm) but they seriously need to change the time of hours of operations if they arent going to serve until they are closed. And when i went the open sign was still on but the workers outside smoking said they were closed and wouldn't let me in. Highly upset about this. I am in the industry and we don't say we close at 10 we do last seating at 10. And this should have been the same situation. Which I wasn't trying to dine in I was simply trying to just place a quick to go order and then leave. Highly disappointed and will not be returning here. The red juicy crab on wade Hampton is the only seafood place that will be getting my business from now on. Because at least the stay open and serve until the hours they have listed on the door/online.
