She's welcoming, genuine, and incredibly knowledgeable, but never overwhelming. Instead, she creates a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer and come back again. What really sets her apart is her consistency. It's not just one great visit--every time we've been there, she's gone above and beyond with the same positive energy and attention to detail. Because of her, this winery has become our go-to spot. I even celebrated my 50th birthday here, and it was such a memorable experience. All of my guests couldn't stop talking about how amazing Rachelle was--everyone felt taken care of, comfortable, and truly impressed with the service. The winery itself is beautiful, accommodating, and perfect for gatherings, which made the celebration even better. On top of that, the entire team at Calivirgin is fantastic. Everyone we've interacted with has been friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming, which really adds to the overall experience. The wine is excellent, the setting is great, and the people are what truly make this place stand out for us. We'll absolutely keep coming back, and a big reason for that is Rachelle.

We stood 6+ people deep line of customers waiting to be acknowledged. There were a lot of other employees working... walking past us and chilling. I guess front desk was not a priority to have multiple people covering or filling in. I finally just asked if we could seat ourselves, which i was told I could go to bars. We ultimately had a good time and Sophia was good to us at the bar. The grounds, buildings and tasting room are beautiful, a sophisticated rustic cabin appeal with manicured landscaping and a craftsman style main building. We stood at the main tasting bar to try four wines. The Chardonnay and especially fhe old vine Zinfandel stood out as excellent to us and we ended up getting some bottles. As there weren't many folks doing a tasting on a weekday we got VIP treatment and had a deljghtful conversation, and education about the wines, from the person pouring for us. We really enjoyed our stay and the surroundings made it extra nice. Compared to the hype of Napa and Sonoma this winery and others in the Lodi area are down to earth and affordable in comparison, especially for tastings. This place very much is worth a visit. Sitting outside to sip a bottle must be delightful too.

I tried a variety of flavors such as: - 2025 Michael David Rosé (top favorite) - 2023 Inkblot Cabernet Franc - 2023 Red Freakshow Red Wine - 2024 Earthquake Zinfandel - 2022 Zinfandel Lust (top favorite) Ashley served a good handful of individuals, including myself. She was truly so knowledgeable about the wines and super hospitable as well. I appreciated her warm, amiable disposition. It truly made one of the greatest highlights during this visit. I decided to explore around the property. It was beyond gorgeous with beautiful decorations, blooming plants, water fountains + ponds, and so much more. The space was so inviting, it was a great atmosphere, especially for a date or to hang out with friends. Overall, I was amazed by the tasty, house-made wines and dazzling ambiance. They also have food to go, and their pies are legendary Of course, they have a wine club which we have been members of for several years now and that's always a great deal if you like wines on a regular basis. We found out about Van Ruiten while attending the 2026 Lodi Grape Festival. The owner was so friendly and was pouring their new Sparkling Rose and Blanc De Blanc. When we arrived at the winery, they had a good amount of people inside and outside but there was still plenty of seating for either option. The interior is lovely with a beautiful scenic painting on the left wall. They sell cute Knickknacks for your home as well. We ordered a bottle of the sparkling Rose and set out on the patio to enjoy some bubbles under the shade. I love the way they have the vines growing above you in the patio area, it was so beautiful. There was a family having a picnic, so it appears to be perfect for large groups as well. Overall It was a nice experience and will for sure be back again. Would love to see them add a brut to the collection and maybe offer a sparkling wine tasting flight as they only offer a still wine tasting currently.
