First of all- loved the theme! I always love a good diner, but throw in childhood memories with various lunch boxes displayed throughout- awesome! Burgers were delicious, John loved the bean soup- special of the day. All of us were well fed! I was pleasantly surprised at how fast our food came out too. Solid lunch choice.

Amazing selection of delicious salads- the blueberry chicken salad was the special today and it was so good! I paired it with the creamy cranberry dressing. I think this is one of the best places in the valley to get a really good milkshake too! Yum!

Quaint little diner in downtown Mt Vernon; ordered the BigD breakfast, very good. Wife had Eggs Benedict, great hollandaise sauce. Service was a little slow but worth the wait. Overall very tasty food!

Amazing selection of drinks and food! My friends and I had the breakfast burrito and it was so good! The homemade biscuits and gravy lived up to the hype and the milkshakes were so good!!!! The best part was that they gave us the left over milkshake from the shaker so none went to waste! I highly recommend this place! The servers were so kind, waiting a little for the food but it was worth the wait. The vibe of this place is homey and cozy. Feels like a spot for locals and a place filled with nostalgia. Very fair prices as well.

I don't know how I haven't discovered this little gem of a diner yet, but I'm sure glad I did. My bestie was in town and breakfast was on our mind, so we headed down and grabbed seats at the counter. It was fun watching the artistic moves of the kitchen staff cooking up all sorts of deliciousness. With our mugs full of their tasty Fidalgo coffee, we eagerly awaited our breakfasts. I got the French toast breakfast, and my friend got the biscuits and gravy with some hash browns. It was all hot and tasty. I'm definitely adding this to my list of breakfast spots - I've got their breakfast chimichanga on my mind for next time.

Small town diner located in Mount Vernon, Washington, serving up classic diner fare in building that has housed a diner since the 1940's Our group of eight took an early morning tour of the RoozenGaarde Tulip farm, so when it was over, we needed a nearby place to have breakfast. The Lunchbox Diner seemed like a good choice to have enough variety to satisfy our entire group. We got lucky in that there was two empty tables that could be put together to seat us, and we ended up staying over an hour there. Our table ended up ordering French Dip with fries ($17.99), Reuben Sandwich with cup of turkey noodle ($17.99); Patty Melt with cup of tortilla soup ($20.99); Smash Burger ($14.99); Breakfast Sandwich ($12.99); Kids Cake breakfast ($11.99); chocolate milk ($3.99); Coffee ($3.49); Fountain Pop ($3.49). The bread used for all the sandwiches were good: hefty with good thickness and grilled nicely. Everyone was friendly, and our party seemed to enjoy their meal. You can pay up front with credit card, and by the time we left, the place was getting really full.

Food is very tasty. The waitress was very nice and kept our drinks full even with a full restaurant. The restraunt is a quaint little place with about 14 tables and 6 bar stools. The onion rings ca.e out so hot we had to let them cool. There is not a lot of street parking close by, so you may have to walk a block or two. Get there early because the locals fill it up about noon. This is a must try restraunt.

We were really hoping that we beat the crowds…read morebecause we usually don't go here anymore only because we don't like to wait and wait to be seated and then wait some more. What can I say? We were really hungry and really wanted their food and they have a nice variety on their menu. So we waited. It didn't even seem like there were that many people waiting or on the waiting list. Nonetheless, we waited probably 20 minutes in the entry. They called our name and seated us. They have a lot of tables set up throughout their space. I see there is seating upstairs but not sure when/if they seat up there. Their restrooms are now gender neutral and one toilet. That's nice! There was a changing table in the one I visited. The server came around within about five minutes and when we ordered our food, It took about another 20 to 25 minutes. I had time to shop the whole adjacent store, make a purchase and still waited awhile for our food. This is always a period of time that feels like it takes forever because by now you're starving and have looked at all of their sweets in the display case while in the waiting area and smelled all the cinnamon scented candles and the food being prepared in the kitchen. My Linda's brother-in-law scramble was delicious. I opted for the bacon sprinkled. It didn't seem like 4 dollars worth of bacon and there's plenty of flavor in that scramble otherwise. $23.54 with the bacon sprinkles. My hubby had the country biscuits and gravy, and he said it was good. $17.79. My husband did mention that he was disappointed that the country biscuit and gravy didn't automatically come with their breakfast potatoes. You have to choose- eggs OR potatoes. He ordered a side of breakfast potatoes, and it was a small bowl. $6.50. We shared the French toast and took most of that to go as well as some of the hash. $14.99. It was plain. We both had water to drink and had to ask for a refill. That all came up to $68.47 plus tip. The receipt says, "If you pay cash, your total may be rounded per this location's payment policy." I didn't see what that policy says.

While you're waiting you can go to the shop down the stairs or go to the dessert area right next to the waiting area to get some great desserts. Last time i was there I saw frosted cream cheese sugar cookies, and pies, and more. When you get seated there are so many great food options, lots of options, same with drinks. They are only open until 3:30 pm so be sure to manage time well. And don't expect an empty place, it's usually populated. Tight space, so scoot in those chairs as far as you can. Staff were laid back, and nice. When they're busy make sure to be patient with the staff, they're dealing with tons of other orders as well.

Sadly, the food was mediocre, at best. I imagine, as a business, they're also wasting so much money on portion sizes. Huge meals do not equate to quality. I really wanted to love it because it's a family restaurant but there was a lot left to be desired. Cons: - The majority of our experience was spent waiting - The staff seemed confused and very overwhelmed - The food was boring and didn't look good on the plate (I got the biscuits and gravy, my friend got chicken fried steak) Pros: - The staff was very friendly - Bathroom was clean - The freshly squeezed orange juice was incredible - Everyone seemed to be trying their best, I think the system just needs a lot of work

All their food is prepared to order and fresh. As an aside, this means it isn't cheap. Not extravagant, but not cheap. That said we felt it was worth the price and will come back. I had a bowl of their clam chowder. It was really good chowder, obviously house made as evidenced by the various sized chunks of potato, celery and onion. It had plenty of clams too and was perfectly creamy and thick. Not gloppy thick but just right. The wife had the cream cheese stuffed French toast with raspberry sauce. It looked like more of a dessert item to me - three pieces, cut in half on the diagonal, stacked on top of each other, stuffed with the cream cheese and topped with the raspberry sauce and a big dollop of whipped cream. She loved it!!! It is now her favorite breakfast item, surpassing her old favorite; triple berry crepes. Service was ok, it took a while to get the food, but that's how it is in a small joint with freshly prepared food. We'll worth the wait and cost.

The cheese curds were nicely battered and fried and the housemade ranch was a nice accompaniment to the cheese curds. The spicy crispy chicken sandwich was only crispy on the outside where the batter was applied! The rest of the chicken was tender and juicy. So tasty . I didn't think the sandwich was all that spicy, but that would be my fault because I eat jalapeno like candy and routinely use habanero hot sauce on my food. Even though I didn't think it was all that spicy I did enjoy the flavor and crunch of the sandwich. There was a bunch of steak fries served with my sandwich.
