Popcorn and cookies were delicious but not as good as my wine haha. I had a great experience and would come back for an event or show at this location. enjoyed seeing the Cambridge Footlights here in September! A good theater. The posted capacity was 96 seats, but we only saw about 60 seats. No assigned seating. When they open the doors, rush in to grab the only table at the back of the room! With fewer than 100 seats, performers need not be union members. The courtyard was quiet and comfortable. I was here for the first time for a show. Cute little corner bar/café. I saw the most luscious looking croissants behind the glass so ofc I had to order one...or two. I got the plain croissant and spinach croissant. PLEASE I hope they never change their supplier. Literally the most flakiest, butteriest croissants this side of the Atlantic. The Lyric Hyperion is back! This small neighborhood gem of a coffee shop/ performance space on the corner of Lyric/Hyperion (thus the name) in the heart of storied Silver Lake has made a triumphant return. After many previous (and sometimes bizarre) proprietors (and a lot of bad coffee), I'm happy to report it's finally found it's groove with the new owners! In the past one never knew if they were open or closed. Now they have set, and reliable hours. From comedy acts, eclectic shows, kids improv, live music, and open mics, there's something for everyone here. If you're looking for a mid-day open mic, they've got it. If you're looking for late night comedy, they've got it. If you're looking for place to write or to enjoy a cup of joe with a friend, and a delicious pastry (or a beer or glass of wine) - they've got that, too. Seating is ample! You can hang out on their spacious patio, or inside the cafe and theatre (if a show is not going on). The employees are delightful. They provide a sort of "Cheers" vibe where they all remember your name. A few standouts: Sarafina runs a tip top ship! She's super organized and welcoming. She anticipates your every need before you can even ask (including fresh brewed coffee and remembering what kind of milk you put in your coffee). Mose, a movie buff, has a super chill vibe and is purveyor of great conversation. I could go on and on, but if you're looking for a unique spot that boasts a 90s coffee house vibe (complete with booze, entertainment, outlets, board games, books and free wifi), look no further than the good people at the Lyric Hyperion. Great shows, cool vibe, but very strange that the bistro doesn't have a single vegetarian sandwich. To not have anything for non-meat-eaters in LA in 2022 feels like a intentional message that vegetarians and their friends should go for the show but don't stick around to spend money at the cafe. It's an odd choice the new owners made. Hopefully they update the menu in the near future to be a little more inclusive. PS: FYI this isn't the old Lyric Theater, it is new owners with a completely new menu (and awesome renovated patio!) as of Spring, 2022. In addition to my son learning a TON and having a blast, I got to sit in the cozy coffee shop, enjoying fabulous lattes made by Patrick. Great place for comedy shows that is low priced. For packed shows they will lay out cushions on the floor for audience to sit on. The one-person and variety shows I've seen here have all been good; even work in progress shows. This is the place where I first got to see Ramy Youssef. We went to see Scott Thompson from Kids In The Hall do his Buddy Cole Monologues show. Bought super cheap tickets online. Easy check in outside the cafe. We sat in the back. This was my first time here to see a performance. What a cute little theatre! I love the patio area and they have a nice selection of food and beverage to enjoy before the performances. I wasn't sure what to expect as far as parking but apparently was very lucky to get a nice nearby spot. I love that they checked vaccination status before entry. I know it's not a perfect thing but it put my mind at ease. I didn't have any actual food but the glass of cabernet was great and I appreciated being able to enjoy it inside the theatre. I went to The Shared Experience show on Wednesday night, and I laughed so hard. It was $5 for the first show at 8:00. I had such a great time I stayed for the second show at 9:30 too! The atmosphere is chic, the drinks are cheap, and the comedians are on fire. Some of the best improv in LA. I've seen a bunch of these comedians other places, but there is something about this room that made the show electric. I also like the little patio area outside the theater. My friends and I hung out to have a drink after the show and there was a light summer rain and it was just a beautiful night. read more

I have to admit, I didn't come at an exactly bustling hour, so I can't really comment on what the atmosphere is here during the busy hours of the week. On a Saturday afternoon, though, it's guaranteed chill. The food is good, a bit pricey, but also on the healthy side, with vegan and vegetarian options like veggie bowls and scrambles, quinoa salads, and plenty of chicken, turkey, and grilled cheese sandwiches for those of you not watching your waists or fat intake. They have plenty of cookies, pastries, and even bottled booze for you're early-morning/ midday alcoholic needs. If you love your java, you've come to the right place. If you're not too worried about the sugar content in your coffee- and if you've been to Starbucks, you shouldn't be- I suggest trying their Boom Trip, which is basically an iced mocha on crack. (Think super-rich chocolate milk with caffeine in it). The exterior patio is sunny and spacious, and the inside is dark and cool, if a bit cramped. This is a great place to come work, grab a bite to eat, and a enjoy a good cup of coffee. There is a small indoor space and a large outdoor space, but plenty of outlets to plug in your laptop if needed. The owner is really friendly and the food is great and decently priced ( also they only have vegetarian food now, which may be you're jam or not). I'm excited to see they also have beer and wine now and I'm excited to come back for drag queen brunch on Sunday! Super funky venue for offbeat entertainment. You can enjoy everything from classic clowning to unusual character-driven performances. There's a large outdoor space to enjoy before the show, as well as a petite cafe with a few snacks, teas and coffee drinks. They have an amazing event calendar on their website that can let you know what's coming up. Want to see a show? Everyone I've seen perform here is off-the-wall talented and I've loved the four shows I've checked out here. You won't see entertainment like this anywhere else in town. Skip their snacks. Reviewing the Cafe/daytime part of the place. They were clearly having a v off day, as from other reviews I expected a decent experience, but it was far from. Guy working the front was very passive. They had a new menu that he didn't know much about, and no prices were listed. They had no pastries at all, and when we asked about it he said their pastry people stopped returning their calls.. The 3 of us got toasts. My friends avocado toast was the smallest avo toast I've seen in LA, my PB & banana - again very small and average. Pretty disappointing for a $7 toast.. This place allows food into shows. They closed their kitchen and were only selling alcohol, so we got food delivered before the show started. Then we find out they wouldn't let us in with our outside food. I should note that their liquor license requires that they sell food, sooooo. tl;dr we were starving, got jerked around, and missed our show. We didn't bother to ask for refunds because I'm sure we wouldn't have received them. The staff were all very apologetic, and I was not at all upset with them. I reserve my utter contempt for the manager who refused to exercise any discretion when he obviously could've done so. read more

In an effort to explore Silver Lake, I chose to hit up Lyric Hyperion Cafe, at the corner of Lyric and Hyperion, no less, on a Thursday morning for some coffee. Their two employees are very friendly! They let me do the Yelp check-in for a free coffee. Hooray! The inside is dark and cramped, so I sat on the sunny and spacious patio outside. There's WiFi and outlets, so it's good to work. It's very chill and quiet, with many benches and chairs and surrounded by plants. I did get eaten alive by all the bugs, so if you're going to sit outside by the greenery, wear a jacket or bug repellent. It's secluded, so don't come here if you're looking for more hustle and bustle, or more of a crowd (like I like). They also do stand-up comedy and music shows in their theater in the back, which you can apparently rent out as well. Calendar's on their website and Facebook. read more

But they need to have a barista and a cook on deck for meal hours. my co worker and I come in for a quick coffee on our short break. with only one person behind the counter we end up waiting ten minutes for our coffees and almost every time our order is wrong because the poor guy is taking care of so many tasks, cooking food and making coffees and lattes, and ringing people up at the registers. We then don't have time to correct him when our orders are wrong because it took so long in the first place. So it's a real bummer. We love lyric. This place is awesome and chill but with slow and unreliable service we don't come here as much as we would like. We love it. Please hire a cook and barista.
