GREAT SERVICE! Recently my 2010 MacBook Pro needed to be repaired or I was going to have to buy a new laptop. I called around to a couple computer repair services in Pasadena and all turned me away without fully listening to my problem saying that they "don't work on laptops so old" or "they no longer make parts for that computer." My computer stopped charging for some reason and I wasn't sure why. I found The Mac Surgeon on Yelp and Ted was able to come out to my house for a diagnostic. He determined that the MagSafe board wasn't working, got me a new one, and did the repair all in about a week. It would have been faster, but shipping times were delayed due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. I found the Mac Surgeon, when my son told me that my battery needed to be replaced because it was expanding, apparently something that could end not so very well! I had called Apple, to get an idea how long this would take, as my laptop is my life-line, and was told about 5-10 days, once they diagnosed it. So then I went online and found the Mac Surgeon, they told me they could order the battery, which would be shipped within a day or two and then replace it while I wait. I dropped off my computer with Miguel yesterday, had a pedicure around the corner from their office in Pasadena and had my computer back within the hour! Miguel also alerted me to 2 other issues which I will take care of next week, and then my 2015 Mac Book Pro will be as good as new for a fraction of the price of a new one and with minimal downtime. I had a very unique problem. We had an old Mac G4 with several home movies saved in iMovie that we wanted to transfer to an external drive. When I tried to convert them to mp4, the old software compressed the videos so I lost resolution and they were too grainy. After contacting several MAC repair dealers (who told me they couldn't help), I found The Mac Surgeon. Ted was amazing. Incredible experience. Without my prompting it, my computer began to update its iOS system. My G drive external hard drive was still attached as my computer rebooted and when it had finished updating, my G drive no longer came up on my computer. Beginning to panic, I reached out to The Mac Surgeon, hoping that they could retrieve the important data held on the now corrupted drive. They set up an appt for the next day, came to my house, and gave me straight answers on everything. (He even cleaned my computer of all MalWare while he was at it.) They took my drive back to their office overnight to try and see what they could do. Miraculously ALL of my data was retrieved and transferred to another drive. I can't recommend these guys enough. Once I put out a request for a quote they were the first to respond.my my girlfriends cat had peed om my MacBook while it was open...ya pretty disgusting. Ted responded and said he was willing to open it up and diagnose it for a great price. It was pretty destroyed and he was completely honest with me about what it would to get it back up and running. He even showed me where the corrosion was and what it would mean for me repair-wise. Then I told him I was also having trouble with my 2011 iMac. Ted is one of the best computer techs I have ever used. Dirt cheap pricing, great work, honest, and regular updates. I found Mac Surgeon after my Mac crapped out during a failed upgrade to Catalina. The problem was extremely difficult to diagnose as it was completely unrelated and was a very rare failure of the backplane board (the board with the PCI slots). I found a similar Mac at the office, headed for the scrap heap, and Ted salvaged parts and got me up and running. If anything, I'm a little reluctant to put up such an honest review about the outstanding work by Mac Surgeon because once the word gets out I'll never be able to an appointment if my Mac ever fails me.
