Airports do not generally lend themselves to superior dining experiences however, the Magic Pan on concourse C in Denver airport made a beautiful and delicious scrambled egg, cheese, onions and peppers crepe. A large portion of fluffy scrambled eggs are folded into a crepe then topped with cheese sauce and sautéed peppers and onions. The cashier and the crepe ladies were accommodating and friendly. So excited when i landed a week ago that this was here for my return flight. Unfortunately i ordered the turkey club and after they made a beautiful crepe they took it off the griddle, then filled it and proceeded to walk towards the microwave. As soon as i saw it i said wait a minute i don't want it heated that way. They responded well thats how we do it for turkey club. Completely unacceptable to heat a crepe in a microwave as it changes the texture. They resolved not to eat it on the griddle and just give me money back. Leaving me hungry and disappointed. I had 30 minutes until my next flight would board, and was planning on just grabbing a sad plastic wrapped sandwich somewhere, but then saw the Magic Pan crepe stand right across from my gate. Some background information to explain the wave of nostalgia that required me to eat here....there was a restaurant in suburban Chicago called the Magic Pan...we went there frequently for brunch with grandma and the cousins when I was a kid...they made crepes in view of the dining area and then filled them with a long list of wonderful things...as kids we always tried to get the dessert crepes for our entrees...and actually often succeeded since they had fruit in them...they also had these red wrapped sugar cubes that we were told frequently by parents to stop eating....yet we kept eating them...and then our parents sent us sugar crazed kiddies to run around outside the restaurant in the outdoor mall where the restaurant was located while they finished their meal. Yes, we were unsupervised; this was the 70's...we also rode in the way way back of the station wagon on the way home... Anyway, with nostalgia fueled expectations this high...and really no idea if this stand with the same name had any connection to the place from my memories...I ordered a chicken divan crepe. I was pleased that they were making the crepes to order! The freshly made crepe was the perfect flavor and texture. The chicken and broccoli were heated up in the microwave, but they were tasty as was the sauce. As good as my fond childhood memories? I'm not sure that would be possible...a MUCH better option than plastic wrapped sandwiches? Absolutely!! Just one warning...they serve the crepes on plates not in to go containers...so either plan to eat before you get on the plane or cross your fingers that the gate agents let you bring on an open, spillable plate of food. This was quiet a treat. They do not have a dedicated seating area however there is plenty of seating in this busy airport. The ordering was easy and they put other personnel out to keep a line down. The crepe tasted okay and the texture was good. I got a Nutella one and it was good. They also scooped a large dollop of what appeared to be a vanilla infused cool whip type cream. It's been a long time since I've had some dessert crepes. I was ecstatic to find oit that there was something other than ice cream and cookies that would now be offered to the people going through DIA. I ordered the traditional strawberry and requested for the addition of bananas in my crepe ($8). The service was fast and friendly. I had ordered take-out and received an open paper plate. Luckily, it tasted very good, so the strawberry syrup did not have time to soak through the plate. However, for those travelling through, please make sure to grab extra napkins, may be messy while eating. Overall this place is good. The batter is quite yummy and they seem to do a good job making it. I went with an egg and cheese crepe. They make the crepe itself first and then slap into a bowl and place already made eggs onto the crepe. I didn't even realize it, but the cheese is actually a cheese sauce. A bit disappointed! Took me a bit to think of what it reminded me of and then it hit me, a cross between pretzel cheese sauce and easy mac. Does fine for the crepe, but real shredded cheese would have been preferred. With tax it came out to $6.50, which I think is fair for the airport. This would probably cost way more at some type of outdoor fest. Haven't had any of the sweet ones, but they sound good. Not sure if I could eat a whole crepe, so that's a win in my books for the price. Ample seating nearby. read more

This experience can be summed up in one word...MEH. Trapped in concourse C of the Denver airport where all food service seems to end at 10:00 PM (which as fast approaching), I picked the Magic Pan. I selected this Mostly because it smelled good and sounded better than chinese food or a fast burger. I ordered a ham and cheese crepe. The food came out fast, but the reason why was troubling. Aside from the crepe, everything was pre-cooked and pre-packaged, and was reheated just for me in one of the stainless steel microwaves. The food was hot, but the kind of 'way too hot' that comes with microwave reheating. The service was as personal as the meal, and the workers seemed more interesting in clock-watching than helping me or any other customer. I understand that I going to overpay for poor airport food, but magic pan also understood that I didn't have a lot of options, and they treated me like it. Overall, the only thing magic pan was able to outperform was the soda vending machine that stole my $1.75. read more

Disgusting. What's nice about seeing them make the crepes for you is that you can see what you're about to eat (or avoid eating). The savory crepe fillings are made from little pre-frozen tins that are microwaved and dumped out onto the crepes themselves. We avoided that and tried a sweet crepe, the classic cinnamon. It wasn't any better. The "whipped cream" had the consistency of melted ice cream, and the cinnamon crepe itself had the saccharine taste of an extremely inexpensive cinnamon roll. I'm assuming this is a reincarnation of the original restaurant that was prominently featured in a hilarious episode of Seinfeld. While the terminal was packed there was no line here. The crêpe was cooked very quickly, and it was initially really great. However, there was too many strawberries and the juice took over the flavor, which led to a soggy crepe. (It overall could've been sweeter for my own personal taste.) Overall, it was really great for airport food. This is somewhere I will continue to visit every time I fly through Denver.
