I was here awhile ago, but I forgot to review it. Our first experience was one the best dining experiences I've ever had. My husband and I came here on a date. Steven was our server, and he was friendly and fun right off the bat. Sometimes, I really enjoy asking servers to pick my food, and that day I was feeling it. I joked that I was going to make him pick everything for me, and he goes, "great." He got my husband's drink order, and said I'll bring your drink, too. He made sure to look and get approval that he could order me a cocktail, without me asking for one. The way he did it was perfect. I was caught off guard but happy about it. My husband and I picked an appetizer together, and he picked my food. He asked a couple of questions to see if I had any hard no's and said he had it. His suggestions on everything we ordered was great, and I loved the drink and food he brought me. He was so good in fact, that I went back with my parents and requested him. This time I asked him to pick out everything for me, including a table appetizer and dessert. My mom did, too. He was phenomenal, and the food was delicious. I really like the fun unique cocktails and atmosphere. Go and ask for Steven. I don't know how often they change their menu, so it may be different now. My only critique is that the menu is not extensive, so I won't go here too often. But they do the items they have really well, so can't complain too much. read more

I was a first time customer at Manship last night and was amazed at how very good the experience was, both the food and the wine list are excellent and I somewhat consider myself a wine "expert" if you will forgive the assumption. Our waiter even turned out to be a former employee of the oldest Jewish delicatessen in town that is now sadly closed after almost 40 years. But it is truly almost impossible to say enough good things about The Manship; I hope they continue to have significant success from now on. I asked the manager on exiting the restaurant if they had a comment section on their website and he told me they did but being unable to locate that part of the website, I took his other suggestion to post a review here. Due to a minor physical disability that makes it hard for me to rise unassisted from a booth, the manager himself came over and helped me rise much to my surprise. Great atmosphere, went twice while in town. Hostess aren't as friendly as I would expect, busy chatting rather than perhaps being a little more helpful if our large party was there. Both nights they were out of certain menu items, some food forgotten- but the food we did get was superb. We tried most things off the menu- steak frites was tough, however everything else (rabbit ravioli, avocado toast, chicken, all of the sides, pizza, pasta, shrimp and grits and charcuterie) all really greatly made. Our meals were served lukewarm unfortunately. The creme brûlée pancakes are fantastic but $12 for two pancakes is too much. We left still hungry. We were offered to sit at the bar while we waited for a table. It would have been nice to have been offered a menu to look at. I also wondered if you could dine at the bar instead of waiting for a table. It wasn't offered. The server was friendly and the food was good. The portions are smaller than I expected. This was the perfect halfway stop for our road trip. The atmosphere was great and our waitress was great. The burger, wedge salad, BLT, pecan cobbler and mimosas were all delicious. We will definitely stop here again if we are in the area. read more

Great happy hour prices. I had the Scallops, they were a little salty and would not recommend. However, the server asked to redo them and I ate them as is. The bread before the meal was great. Step into The Manship and you're no longer in Jackson, MS. I have been for every meal and have never been disappointed. They started brunch a couple of months ago - perfectly cooked scrabbled eggs (and ask my husband, I am really picky when it comes to scrambled eggs!). My friend got the breakfast sandwich and he said it was divine. For lunch, you can't go wrong with one of their wood fired pizzas or their heirloom tomato BLT. Their fries are truly scrumptious. Always good to know - they do a weekday happy hour (4-6) where their wildfire pizzas are half-price along with various drink specials. For my birthday dinner, we went all out. Their wedge (as well as all of their salads) is made from a Flora, MS-based hydroponic lettuce farm (Salad Days) and is one of the best Wedges I have ever eaten. Manship takes pride in using local vendors and it shows in their food. NY strip was cooked to perfection and sides are meant to share (I highly recommend the broccolini). We wrapped up the night with a bread pudding that is to die for. Needless to say, we left both filled and thrilled. Service is impeccable and I've always felt welcomed the minute I stepped through the door. Jacksonians are #blessed to have The Manship in business. read more

Food has a great flavor. Ordered the chicken lunch with Mac and cheese and husband got 4 veg plate. All was excellent and our waiter Michael did a great job on service. This is a busy restaurant close to the baptist hospital and there is plenty of parking in the parking garage close to the building that Manship is located in. read more

We went to Manship for date night, and although the food was wonderful, our service was TERRIBLE. Our server would not even stay at the table long enough to let us complete an order. We Kept having to wave our hand at her to catch her attention to get help, because the only time she came to check on us was to take our order. I ordered a soda for my dinner, and apparently they didn't have it, so she brought me a totally different soda and (as she was pouring the totally different soda) said "Diet Dr. Pepper is fine, right?"! I told her no, so she said "that's fine, I'll drink it." Although I completely understand that restaurants are busy, our tab was almost $200 before her tip (we ALWAYS leave 20%), and all we wanted was someone who took the time to hear our order without walking away and who was more attentive. We were very impressed with the food, but very upset by the service. read more

This has to be the best restaurant in Jackson at the moment! The food is amazing to say the least, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service is superb, and the drinks are fantastic. Make sure to try the Brussel sprouts! My only critique would be to be careful making OpenTable reservations. I made a reservation for 5 people and the restaurant confirmed, but when I arrived the hostess insisted it was for 4 and acted annoyed when I showed her my email confirmation listing it for 5. Manship is one of my favorite places in Jackson, MS. They have everything from pizzas, which are to die for, to salmon and steak. My friends and I love to go to their outstanding happy hour (from 3-6pm) where you can get a half priced pizza (did I mention they were delicious) and several drink specials. They have many fancy Bourbons that they include in their happy hour so this is really a deal that you can't afford to miss. If you visit here you have to order the Mac and cheese as a side dish it is one of the most amazing things you will ever taste. It's the perfect combination of cheeses and pasta. read more

The general manager was very inviting, creative and we were able to successfully work on a project. While I was there, I had lunch. I love that their food is locally sourced and fresh. Ordered the oysters and for the most part they were ok, a little dryer than I'm used to, but was not disappointed. The pizza was remarkable, crust was delicious on it's on and the parmesan fries are a must try. The veggies we're seasoned well (spinach/asparagus/glazed sweet potatoes), prepared to perfection. Very disappointed and dissatisfied. We ordered calamari which is under cooked. I got a burger and fries. and the fries were 6.00 extra?!?! We were supposed to get a free pie for doing a yelp review and our waitress said pick any dessert for free and we picked coconut, well she changed her mind and made us pay. Me and my family came to this location Sunday after church. As we sat 10-15 minutes waiting I decided to check out the bar area. When I tell you the amount of alcohol behind the bar is enough for anyone to have a great drink. Now let's talk about my choice of food. Me and my BNL chose the Duck leg with egg n Gouda grits and I also chose a side of the hash brown casserole. I can't even think of a better word to describe my meal but it was beyond DELICIOUS. Our waiter Amelia was great with our refills of drinks we chose to have. Now the bad part. Our waiter mixed up me and my BNL tickets. She accidentally use my card to pay for my BNL and his family. It was not too big of a deal my BNL just gave me the difference in cash. So we explained to our waiter the problem, so she took our cards again along with a lady that I think was maybe the manager and they did try to fix the mix but our tickets were still mixed up. Later after that the young lady explained that it was her first day. She seemed so hurt so we told her it's fine. If I could rate my food I would rate 10. Impressed by the place the first time which had us coming back. We ordered the charcuterie board again which was suspiciously smaller than the last time we went. Drinks are great. But when we ordered the chicken wings and they came out very quickly we were happily surprised. When we bit into it they were completely raw in the middle. Not just pink, but blood running from the uncooked bone and meat in the middle. This left us flabbergasted. So we'd probably only come back for the drinks, would not order any food anymore after that experience. read more

Every time I come into town I have to have manship!! Super delicious! They have a variety of starters, I usually get the cheese board along with the pimento cheese! The Caesar salad is good, the dressing makes it real good! Has a good parmasean kick to it! The shrimp and grits are also real good! Literally everything I've had at the manship has been good! Last night 11/6/2017 while at The Manship I was treated horribly by the bartender on duty Josh. I came in and sat down at the bar and the bartender was in the wine closet. It was only myself and another lady. He came out checked on the lady, she inquired about the pizzas, he explained to her the toppings. She pointed down and said "she is waiting" he said "I know I'm looking for a bottle of wine" went back to the closet came out again took his phone out leaned on the counter and started looking on his phone and went back in the closet. He still had not acknowledged that I was there. After 10 mins my guest arrived, who happens to be my father, by this time the manager came by dropped of some menus went to the wine closet and told him "Hey you have two people at 5 and 6" he said "I'm looking for a bottle of wine" now they are BOTH in the closet and he still refuses to come over, at this point he could avoid our area no longer. He came over asked what we wanted to drink, we asked for water, he started cleaning plates that were next to us and said "give me a min." By this time I realized he DID NOT want to serve US, thats fine, so I asked the hostess can we sit outside. She said, "sure, let me get you a table." He dropped the waters off and proceeded to tell us how bad his sinuses were and they had been acting up all day, he still had not asked did we have questions about the menu or what we wanted to order. His sinuses were more important at the time. The hostess came back with a table by this time it was 5:50p I asked could he put the order in so we won't miss happy hour and we can have he ticket transferred to the other table he said "No the server outside will take care of you" we proceeded to the patio, and we were talking as we walked out and I heard the bartender yell "What did you say?!?!?" Loud and rude!!! We get to our table on the patio and the next thing I know he is outside in my fathers face asking him "HEY HEY WhaT did you say?!?!?" My father asked him to go back in the restaurant. He again said "No you seem like you have a problem" my dad said "we had been waiting to get served for 10 mins you never came over so we came outside" now he wants to argue and said "you were NOT waiting for 10 mins" at this time I interjected and told him, "you need to go back inside" I have had bad service and The Manship before and still would go there but being chased outside by an irate bartender and spoken to in a hostile, rude, nasty, confrontational tops the . I DO NOT have a problem that he did not want to serve us, I DO NOT have a problem with him saying no I won't take you order (which he stated) I have a problem with him coming from behind the bar, following us outside (after he made it VERY CLEAR that he did not want to serve us), standing over us with an attitude ready to settle something. I asked to speak with the manager, who came out and tried his very best to make the situation right. However the behavior by the bartender damaged the relationship beyond repair. No one should be yelled at, followed, or confronted by an employee of the business. The bartender was out of line and I will go on record to say that HE WON and I won't be back. He was successful in making that happen. read more
