We ordered: the salmon that was just dripping on delicious tangy, lemony juice. Super light dish with scrumptious garlic spinach. The Brunch burger that had the widest, thickest pieces of bacon on them and fries. The kids burger and fries And the chicken and waffles with a different type of syrup that complemented the waffle. I truly do not have enough good things to say about Manship. To start off, this place is super cute and trendy. The inside decor is gorgeous, they have such a variety of areas to sit, and the bar is top notch. The staff were also so kind and attentive. Such a great dining experience. The food was also insanely delicious. My entire family couldn't stop raving about how good this place was! Highlights were the BBQ chicken pizza and the truffle fries. SO GOOD!! Visited The Manship Wood Fired Kitchen for dinner, Dustin set me up with a beer and took my order. Appreciated the fact he told me I could get a half-sized salad versus the full wedge. I must say, this was the absolute BEST wedge salad I've ever enjoyed...wished I had ordered the full size option {sigh}. The Steak Sandwich was OK, nothing really exciting and the large chunks of steak made it difficult to enjoy the sandwich. The horseradish sauce was a nice compliment, not overpowering. I was not a fan of the fries, the kitchen went overboard with the Truffle Salt and it overwhelmed them. Overall a nice meal and the service was excellent. Fantastic experience today at Manship! After a great family day at the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, we decided to stop in and were not disappointed. Our waiter Darian (sp?) did an exceptional job: he was attentive and made several nice recommendations. We started off with the sautéed crab claws, which were served in their signature NOLA bbq sauce. The claws were a nice size and tasty. Caution: If you are not a fan of lemon, avoid this dish as it is prevalent. We all enjoyed it. The only thing that would have made it much better would have been some toast points or bread for the remaining sauce. My daughter had the burger and loved it. But omg the truffle fries -- beyond good. They were ordered separately, but a perfect addition. A very nice portion and we all could not stop eating them. Delish. My generous portion of shrimp and grits were bursting with flavor. But...my hubby's Cajun shrimp pasta was the star of the show. The blackened shrimp was well seasoned and soooo good. With a shortage of classy dining spots in the greater Jackson area, this has been our go-to when we're in town. We stick to some basic dishes, such as salads and pizzas. I've had the Caesar while my wife has enjoyed the Cobb. Both are very good. I'm a stickler for tasty Caesar dressing--has to be creamy, garlicky and cheesy (some places taste like straight mayo or are too thin or lemony). Theirs is a good mix. I enjoyed the barbecue pizza. It was fresh and the ingredients were well-distributed. Service is always awesome here as well and the atmosphere is classy and comfortable. We've never had to wait for a seat, although I don't think we ever have anywhere else in the Jackson area, which is a welcome treat for us being from California where everywhere is a crowd and a 30-minute wait. read more

We dine here each time we're in town and the experience has been stellar, from the well crafted food and service to the ambiance of the place. Walking into the restaurant and seeing the impressive old world feel of the bar already sets the tone. And of course, they have a bible size book for wines and liquor. Each time we dine here, the staff is attentive and goes the extra mile to see that we have what we need. I'd say that this is one of my favorite spots in town. The Yelp community did it again! We found this place here on Yelp and gave it a try and it was really good. Our server was excellent; balancing attentiveness and room to enjoy the experience. The food was very good. My wife had a cheeseburger which was obviously very high quality beef and a hand-patted bun and tasty melted cheese with fries, while I had a bowl that included hash brown casserole, eggs, and bacon with a slice of toast. The bacon was thick cut and tasty, while the hash brown casserole differed from what I accustomed to but outstanding. They are off the main street next to Baptist Hospital downtown. On our way from Little Rock to New Orleans, my husband and I decided to take a lunch break in Jackson. The Manship wasn't too far off the highway, but it wasn't convenience that led us here: it was the menu. We were soooo excited to eat here. Everything sounded so good! It was brunch hour on a Saturday, so we started off with the Avocado Toast after hearing our neighboring table say it was the best avocado toast of their life. We'll how could we refuse THAT?! And you know what ... it was absolutely wonderful. The avocado mousse was so very flavorful, nice and creamy but not overwhelming. The ciabatta was lightly crunchy and easy to bite into. The citrusy/vinegary micro salad topper with almond and radish was the perfect contrast. It truly was excellent; probably my favorite I've had. And it's shareable! Thank you, Next Table Over! Then I had the NOLA BBQ Shrimp and Grits. Holy stinkin' moly. How to describe?! It's not BBQ in the traditional sense, it's more made with BBQ spices. It's rich, extremely flavor-packed and knock-your-socks off yummy! Shrimp were perfectly grilled and flavorful all by themselves. The smoked gouda grits had a perfect texture. The whole dish was fantastic - heavenly mouthful! My husband chose the Brisket Benedict. He said: eggs/perfect; hollandaise/delicious; buttermilk biscuit/phenomenal. That's high praise! Biscuit was light and fluffy, not overly flaky but nice and buttery. Made in house, for sure! The brisket was a bit lost in the dish, but it was by no means disappointing. It was shredded, but a sliced version might've been more beef-forward. However, this was an amazing Benedict. So, this is going to be our go-to stop along the Little Rock/New Orleans route every time we take it. I can't wait to go back to try something else, eat all the menu items, then start all over again. The first time I tried to for my birthday & after waiting for a while for seating, they explained to us the waffle machine had just "broken" and they were out of bacon --so sad. Anyway came for Saturday brunch with my best friend and it was a better experience (Sunday's are just so busy without a reservation.) I ordered the Fried Chicken & Waffle with maple glaze. The waffle itself was cold when it came out to me which made it difficult to enjoy the meal although the chicken was only just warm. After contemplation, I sent it back to be reheated & the server brought a whole new, crispy hot waffle & chicken. Much better. After that it was much more enjoyable. I don't really like the maple glaze that much but it's a preference thing--I'd rather opt for regular syrup. Can't wait to be back & try some more things. Get the $5 mimosas!! read more

A Very nice restaurant in Jackson with both table and booth seating . My sister and I had dinner there last week .My sister ordered a chicken salad which was large and very good and more than she could eat. I had grilled salmon which was probably not the best choice because it's not local to the area but it was very good . I also ordered a side of turnip greens which were fantastic. Our waiter was friendly helpful and they had a good selection of beer, wine and drinks . My sister had a house white wine I ordered a Guinness and a dirty martini all were great! First, I love the updated outdoor seating! The Manship brunch menu never disappoints! This is my second time getting the belhaven bowl with the smoked salmon. Although it looks raw, believe you me, it is full of flavor and cooked! The chef recommended it the first time I went during brunch and it has become my fav. The waffle flight was delicious as well! I loved tasting all the different combos on each waffle. Their mimosas are strong, which I don't mind, but I would have liked a sweeter taste. I was coming back from a good trip to New Orleans And I decided to stop in Jackson for brunch. A friend recommended The Manship. It was packed but I got a seat at the bar and enjoyed myself. I started with the waffle flight. 4 different types of waffles. I didn't enjoy the peanut butter and bacon waffle. They put too much of it on it. My entree was the prime rib benedict with the hashbrown casserole. Solid meal with no complaints. I also had the peach bellini. They make theirs with peach schnapps. No purée. Great decision. The staff was horrible. I hate restaurants that charge auto gratuity for a certain number of people especially when the service is terrible. My friend was at the restaurant at least 10mins before we arrived and we still had to wait 10mins to be seated. Then the waitress was not friendly at all and gave off a nasty vibe. She seemed hostile and perturbed. I hate saying people are racist and I try my best to look over that type of behavior but I couldn't help but feel that way. My group kept calling it out but this was the vibe that we felt. The staff also gave a hostile vibe when asking questions. I want to say that if I order a plate of pasta that's $20 and a plate of shrimp and grits for $26. The cheapest is the grits. Why is my plate of grits not filled with grits like my pasta plate is filled with pasta? The why am I paying $19 for a sliver of fish? $32 to treated with hostility. I tried this place while visiting MS. I really enjoyed the crawfish eggrolls and the gumbo. My friend also had a salad with grilled salmon. The salad was so bright and flavorful. The orange tomatoes almost looked fake they were so fresh. Aside from these 3 dishes we also ordered the cauliflower which wasn't as tasty but that's okay...Someone may like that. Now my reason for my 4 stars may totally be a regional thing. Nevertheless, it really grinds my gears that this place has coffee but no non dairy milk options. I know I can't be the only person in the state of Mississippi that doesn't drink whole milk or 2%. I just felt like not having alternative options was so 2008. Lol The other thing that bothered me was that the Waiter brought over hot sauce to the table and put in right in front of me. I didn't ask for hot sauce. I never ask for hot sauce because I don't eat it. I felt like that was a low-key micro aggression which didn't sit well with me. Like, just leave the hot sauce on the table with other condiments so you don't have to assume anything. Again, this may totally be a regional thing and I understand that. However, maybe this review will encourage more thoughtful service since everyone who patronizes this place may not be from there... just saying I would recommend this place to family and friends all over despite my gripes. Came in on the recommendation of a friend. The service is less than to be expected, but the FOOD is outstanding! Ordered the smoked tuna dip. It is -surprisingly- good. The smokey flavor sneaks in and delights the mouth, but isn't so overpowering as to knock out the fresh taste of tuna. Ignore the saltines- they're an insult to artwork- just ask for more of the crostini, they do the plate the justice it deserves. Have the lasagne. It's a little bit of a struggle to first cut in to, but the work is worth it. The blend of flavor and spices is delightful, and the pasta noodles aren't completely overcooked. The pancetta Mac and cheese is also a strong contender for the favorite. There's a cheese that's bold and tart and salty, that smacks you in the mouth then slowly fades away, making you beg for more. The BBQ chicken is... well, BBQ chicken. Taking our free dessert (thanks Yelp) to go. If it's anything like the rest of dinner, it'll be a real delight. read more

Soo disappointing, this was the second time I've had a sub par experience for lunch and I will not be returning. I ordered the shrimp and grits which is a $26 dollar lunch with a scoop of grits and 5 shrimp, nothing else on the plate. The grits came out cold with no seasoning and while the bbq sauce was fine the shrimp themselves were overcooked, covered in cayenne and too spicy to eat. My husband ordered the pork chop which he said had no flavor and the gravy had onions in it, which he can't eat. When we inquired why it was not listed on the menu as having onions the response was that it's just in the gravy. The gravy that was poured all over his food. We both left hungry. read more

This was a nice spot with easy and free parking in the garage next door. We shared a pizza and Parmesan fries. Both were pretty good. I didn't love the pizza quite as much as my husband. Amazing bar with so many alcohol choices, including ¼ oz of scotch for $50, (but the bottle was from 1973 ). Eclectic and fun as you watch them move the ladder around the bar to get libations down from the ceiling shelves and dusted off! It was Valentine's Day and we walked in without a reservation. The hostess was very nice and let us know they were completely booked. We asked if we could wait for the bar seats and she said yes. We sat shortly after and John quickly served us water and cocktails. Hubby loved the large beer selection and I chose a boring lemon drop. Hubs had a Stone IPA and a stout. Valentine's menu so can't comment on what's normally on the menu. I opted for the She Crab Soup special, topped with crabmeat, corn and diced jalapeños. It was creamy and loaded with texture and flavor! Not too much Sherry, which I'm always wary of. I then had the Margarita pizza for $10! $10! The pizza was a bit heavy and greasy for me, but again $10! Hubby had the chicken, which other than being a tad too smokey, was moist and delicious. He also ordered the greens, which he felt were a bit on the sweet side. Yelp check-in coupon came in handy for our free dessert, the pecan cobbler with butter pecan ice cream. Made a reservation for Saturday night at 6:45pm. We walked in and there was literally only two tables that had people sitting at it. Sat down, got our menus and pricing is ALOT more than what it's shows here on Yelp. Steak bites were over double the price shown. When you go to the website it doesn't show pricing at all. And let me just say, the pricing on steak bites and chicken was so high we walked out. Not sure who is eating there and leaving reviews, but for a Saturday night prime dinner time and only two tables had people at it makes me wonder if they are real reviews. read more

On the walk up to the entrance, that smell that awakens the DNA of every Southern man, meat cooking over a grill. We were a part of large party of nearly 20 people. First of all, Tequila and Crystal were absolutely awesome servers. They were personable, and very efficient. They are definitely an asset to this establishment. I had the pork chop and my wife had the red snapper. Both came with smoked Gouda grits and Autumn veggies. My chop, bone in was grilled and was cooked perfect. Moist and tender with an excellent flavor. It was the perfect balance between smoke and seasoning. Beautiful grill marks made the chop visually appealing. The salad was good with a variety of greens, onions, tomatoes, and olives. It came with a house Italian. Not many places find the perfect balance of front and back of house.
