We have been trying to visit this place for the past 3 years and the wait was worth it. It's a small family-run cafe and the owner was really sweet. We tried their matchbox veggie farm burger which was great and their vegetarian lasagna which was outstanding. Portion size was huge for lasagna since it came with 6 slices of garlic bread. We were sitting near the parking since our daughter was sleeping in the car and the owner came to give the food to the parking. The view from the parking was so nice - there was some cool breeze and the trees on the farm in front of us were moving.

I devoured the veggie burger and then I devoured the book! Best veggie burger I've ever had and the fries are something to write home about! PS : I don't like red velvet cake either!

I have driven past this small cafe several times, and always wanted to check it out. I finally did yesterday, with my granddaughter. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. It is VERY small inside, I was expecting a bit more room. If you sit outside, it is backed up to a junkyard/car repair place which is not very quiet or pleasant. We ordered the veggie burger with fries, and a beef burger with fries. They will not allow you to sub a salad for the fries. I saw rave reviews about the house made veggie burger, but personally, I was not impressed, and thought it was bland. The burgers were big, and difficult to eat, so we had to cut them up. The fries are also large & house made, and were good. I ordered a tossed salad with chicken to go for my husband. Chicken was good, salad was basic (tomato, avocados and onions). To put this in perspective, the food was on the expensive side, so we expected more. The bakery items are delicious. All together, for the 3 meals, 3 drinks and 2 bakery items, it came to $110 (plus tip). This may be reasonable for some, I guess it depends on location. Rhinebeck does tend to be expensive. They seemed to be somewhat busy with to-go orders. I guess it's one of those places you just have to check out, and decide for yourself! It's not a place I plan to return to.

Well, I thought it would be great food for the price we paid which was steep, but we were ok since it had great reviews. We each had the chicken sandwich, mine sans dairy. Well, the seasoning was ok but it was DRY. No mayo, no sauce, nothing. And the bun was awful--hard with too many sesame seeds, so I didn't eat it. The fries were awesome though. For the price of the food I'd think it would be better quality. And it had so many darn cobwebs! Could use a good swiffering.

This is the sugar cookie that spoke my name in whispers during the night.

This little place is a must! I was never so glad I missed breakfast in Chicago. Upon recommendation from a sweet patron who was finishing her lunch, my friend and I ordered the veggie burger, while another ordered the egg sandwich. You'll need to unhinge your jaw to fit one of the most mouth-watering uniquely divine "burger" alternative's, I've ever had! The egg sandwich looked equally intriguing, although she did not offer either of us a bite! Served with generous sides of fresh cut fries and friendly service, this place is not one to be missed. And did I mention what we took with us? Cookies that will put your mama to shame! Dense, buttery and full of goodies. I cannot recommend one over another. We got one of each and split them between us. Kitchen sink & Sugar might be slightly the favorite, but I wouldn't turn away any of the others. All made fresh, right there!

You know you've had a good meal when it comes up again over coffee the next morning! For the vegetarians out there, the house-made veggie burger/sandwich is flavorful and satisfying. The garlic Mayo was such a great compliment for it as well. We ordered for takeout and while waiting had a nice talk with the friendly owner who also packed our food safe for travel so nothing was out of place when we arrived home. We will be definitely dining there again very soon!

Great people run this awesome little cozy restaurant just south of the busy part ofRhinebeck. Walk there. Best French fries around. Great, Hardy sandwiches. Excellent local burger meat. Very good coffee too.

So the watermelon lemonade they have is unsweetened but have liquid sugar to make up for it, which is nice since you can sightly sweet rather than other places where lemonades taste straight up like syrup. I got the bobo and let me say it's pretty much one-one with breakfast sandwiches you get a NYC bodega made with love. Eggs were runny, bacon was crispy and not charred ash, just the right amount of cheese as well and a crispy hashbrown patty like mc' Donald's. Plus got to love the hot sauce rack they have to customize your food, hot honey worked well. Also I notice someone there loves the label gun, since man everything was spelled out on the counters.

We have been meaning to try it since our neighbors raved about their Thanksgiving meal there last year. We entered and were immediately greeted by a basket of baguettes from Sparrowbush of Hudson at the counter. The browned crust reminded of us of our holy grail of bread from Balthazar that a guest had brought to our home 30 years ago. We've been unable to find a comparable baguette until we found one at the recently shuttered Fletcher & Lu's. We'd make monthly pilgrimages to stock up, and were saddened when our bread fix was no longer available. We snapped one up to test it out (had it for breakfast and it's glorious!) The interior is painted a warm butter yellow, the shelves house white ironstone pitchers, and baskets of wildflowers abound. Simple, but homey, yet at the same time elegant. The table settings are understated, and much like those I grew up with my grandmere from the southwest of France, who settled in the Napa Valley. My cousin Thérèse runs a restaurant in Beauregard in the Lot department that reminds me greatly of the Little Goat. We were in good hands with our server, Lennon (yes, named after THAT Lennon!) She was attentive, animated and very charming. We started with a Churchtown Dairy (Hudson) Copperwaite, local honeycomb with spelt bread appetizer that was on point. For our wine we had 4 glasses of Gamay, Coeur de la Reine, Loire, France 2023 (nice and plummy, but recommend getting a bottle rather than by the glass for a better value!) I had the Roasted Petite Filet, with Smoked Pepper Butter, Tallow-Fried Onions and Bernaise on the side. Tender, flavorful, and a generous portion that was enough for another meal. With that I had the barbecue-spiced crispy potatoes, a perfect combination. My husband had the Rigatoni Pork Ragu, Sourdough Soffrito dusted with Parmigiano. (Disclaimer: after 50 years together, if this dish is on the menu, I know he will order it. He did...and loved it, ranking it among the best he's ever had ), pairing it with Braised Romano Beans, Sofrito, and Smoked Pecorino. For dessert, we "shared" (ok, he had one bite and I devoured the rest) the Chocolate Budino,* Creme Fraiche, Oats dusted with Fleur and topped with a crisp Tuile. * A budino is what you get if a pot de crème hooked up with crème brûlée for a steamy night and had a baby! What is so charming about this restaurant is that it is so family-friendly. Several tables had babies and toddlers galore and it gave the room a welcome liveliness. Definitely not stuffy, and a welcome relief from snooty dining establishments. Kudos to Erin Winters and Taavo Somer for bringing such an extraordinary dining experience to my beloved Hudson Valley. You excel at what you do. And Five Toques to Chef Paragas...you slay!
