Why 5 stars? Because the brisket here is absolutely worth the trip. --- --- --- This area is full of some really amazing BBQ, so while I'd wanted to visit The Meating Place for a while, my assumption was that it couldn't top some of my favorite local places, so I kept putting it off. But I have to say: the brisket here is some of the best in all of the Houston area. I was a bit skeptical that this would be the case because most of the best BBQ comes from places that are only open from 11am until they sell out, while The Meating Place keeps normal restaurant hours. But The Meating Place beat the my bias and was really amazing. The ribs were pretty great too. The Mac-n-Cheese was fine, and I didn't care too much for the coleslaw (I think it had pineapple in it?) But if I had only had brisket, I would have died a happy and accomplished man, so everything was just a bonus after that. Sorry for doubting you and sorry for waiting so long. Support this place, Montgomery!

Came here lunch time on Saturday. Ordered 3 meat plate with Cole slaw and green beans. Children had chopped brisket and mac and cheese. The 3 meats I got were: Sliced brisket - Came with two slices. One slice was fine, the other slice was just of the fat cap of the brisket. Was a shame. 3 out of 5 stars. Pulled Pork - was dry and under seasoned, it had a nice crust though. 2 out of 5. Rib - The Ribs were good. I enjoyed the meat ratio on them. And the flavor was nice. 4 out of 5. Cole slaw - taste was good, I enjoy a vinegar based slaw. Green Beans - were sweet, almost as if maple syrup and brown sugar were ingredients. Just not what you'd expect. My daughter's chopped brisket was too spicy for her to eat. I feel that for children's you would have something less spicy. The staff is helpful and pleasant. Ownership so kind. Restaurant clean and tidy.

You can see the thickness of the skin from the reheating over and over!! It's dried out and just not good at all.

I got a potato with brisket and cheese. The potatoe was cooked and recooked so many times there was at least a 1/4 inch from the skin I couldn't eat. It was thick and nasty. NOT impressed at all!! We had such high hopes too! We won't be going back.

Ordered take out from here and the food was good. The service was good too. Brisket bombs were out of this world. Every was seasoned well and tender as can be. The kids loved the Mac. We even had an Oreo and cream pie slice. Everything was a hit with us. The decor inside definitely gives the Texas bbq feel. Looking forward to being able to dine in soon.

By far the best bbq and bbq sauce I've ever had. It wasn't too busy which made it easy to order and got our food out at a timely manner. Highly recommend, feel like you're at grandmas house

Made with fresh purple onion, the batter was golden crispy and mimicked the crust of a chicken fried steak.

We were seated immediately, and when my wife requested a booth, the staff happily accommodated her. We tend to eat lower carb, so we ordered a cauliflower crust pizza. It's an excellent option for anyone looking for a more carb-friendly meal. The crust had a nice crispness, and the pizza tasted fresh and full of flavor. For the kids, we ordered the chicken mac and cheese, and they absolutely loved it. Our server was kind, attentive, and accommodating throughout the meal, making the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, we had a great family dinner and will definitely be returning. If you're looking for a welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, and delicious food--including great lower-carb options--Pizza Shack is worth a visit.

I went with the Fayrweather Byrd (BBQ Chicken) and the Southbound, which is like a Tex-Mex pizza - headlined by beef fajita meat. I thought the fayrweather byrd was pretty ideal. I ordered mine without jalapenos because my wife and I are really wusses when it comes to spicy food. My wife tried one bite of one slice and I ate the rest of the entire pizza by myself. Not because I was still hungry by the end, but because it was so delicious. And to make matters worse for my appetite, I also ate more than half of the Southbound, making it 13 slices in one sitting for me. I didn't have to include these embarrassing details in my review, but here I am, outing myself. I thought the southbound was fine, but would probably go for something else on the menu next time. Lastly, we finished with a mother fudger brownie. When I ordered it (to-go), he asked if we wanted everything on top: ice cream, whip cream, etc. I said yes, because I assumed it would be kept separate. But unfortunately, it was all packed into one box, so by the time I got home, it was virtually all melted. Don't get me wrong, it was still delicious, but I'd probably only order this if you plan on eating it as soon as it's made. I will definitely check out Dizzy Pies again, as it's a very solid option in the neighborhood.
