Frankly, my stomach is starting to question my life choices. But then we rolled up to Jennings BBQ in Montgomery, a food truck that's a Texas Monthly Top 50 BBQ award winner, and my tummy and I made peace. The brisket was excellent--nicely cooked, very tender, and full of great flavor with a nice, clean bark. They did a fantastic job with it. The pulled pork was another highlight. It was incredibly juicy with a perfect flavor profile, and the amount of sauce and spice was just right. The ribs were also delicious--a flavorful spare rib with a perfect pull from the bone. For the sides, the cornbread casserole was a hit. It had a wonderful consistency, balancing the corn and the breading perfectly. The coleslaw was also great, with a nice, light flavor and the perfect amount of vinegar. In short, my body might be begging for a salad, but my soul is singing the praises of Jennings BBQ. It's a definite standout and well worth the trip.

Just wow! We went late today. Had the pulled pork and turkey. PHENOMENAL. Will update the review after going back tomorrow so we can try the rest. The food was one thing. The owner and his wife were another. They were the kindest people and truly so appreciative of being listed as one of the top 50 spots in Texas Monthly for BBQ. I recommend this spot for both food and hospitality!

Driving around Texas trying BBQ on the Texas Monthly Top 50 list. Drove out to Jennings BBQ food truck on a Sunday on our 2nd weekend of chasing BBQ on the Texas Monthly Top 50 list. So Jennings was the 2nd BBQ place that we hit on Sunday and it was the 4th place he visited on our busy weekend. The food truck is runner by a family consisting of dad, mom & son. The father greets you and slices the brisket and the other proteins while the sons helps get the sides and the wife checks you out. The people here genuinely care about the food that they serve and they treat all the customers with respect and try to get to know each customer as they serve them. We did not want a lot of pork rib and asked if we could just buy 1 bone of pork rib which the owner said yes, we own this place so we can do what we want. The pork rib was tender as was nice and tasty. The sausage was good but we have had better. The brisket looked really good and was delicious but interestingly it was lacking the smoke flavor that we were expecting. FYI, they did have FREE beer on the Sunday that we visited which was a treated as we waited in the long line. It's a food truck so we got our food to go as it was around 12:30pm and I felt it was too hot to sit outside at the picnic tables. I do recommend Jennings as they have a good selection of food at a fair price just looking for a bit more smoke flavor on the proteins,

As a self proclaimed BBQ connoisseur this place exceeded my expectations. Close your eyes and you'd believe you were at the legendary Franklin's and trust me when I tell you I dont say that lightly. I never thought I'd ever say that. The brisket is juicy and perfectly tender and melts in your mouth with a lovely peppery and salty flavor. Its literally meat candy. The sausage is very well seasoned and has a nice crisp bite. The ribs are amazing. They have a slightly sweet but smokey and peppery flavor. Not overwhelming on the sweet or the smoke. Done just right. Love these ribs. Pulled pork was juicy and seasoned so well. Usually pulled meats are dry and flavorless. Not here. Don't skip the pulled pork.. The chicken. We had the thigh might be the best chicken I've ever put in my mouth. Easily the under dog here. Didn't expect much. Got a whole ton! Jennings is doing Texas BBQ right.

Walk up counter service with a menu split neatly into cold cut and oven baked sandwiches. Going with the Devito, my mind was thoroughly blown by how flavorful the red sauce and meats were all together, it had a combination of textures from the crusty bread cured cuts that made it fun to chew through every bite. My Stallone was also just such a pleasant mix of flavor with the pesto playing a bigger role on the cold cut options. This is one of the places where I feel like you can spin the wheel and get a winner with whatever fate decides. Things seem pretty easy and affordable here. Portions were pretty big here and around $12-$15 a sandwich, more than enough for a single person with some for a midnight snack later. There's a good bit of seating inside with some red gingham table clothes to eat over. It's worth the visit if your in Montgomery or after a day on the Lake!

My only disappointment was that the menu described it as coming on a crusty Italian roll, but the bread was soft with no crunch. A true crusty roll would have taken it from great to outstanding. The girl at the counter recommended getting the hot peppers so I got some on the side, and she was absolutely right--I'll definitely be adding those to future sandwiches. My husband ordered the Danza but accidentally received the Dinero. He still enjoyed it and gave it a solid 7/10. We also tried the Chicken Parmesan. It had good flavor, though it was a little too bread-heavy for my taste. Overall, the food was fresh, flavorful, and the portions were more than generous. We'll definitely be back to work our way through more of the menu.

For a place that has been voted the #1 restaurant in America before, it was a lovely experience! This location is a little over 30 mins away from me, which is beyond the distance I'm willing to drive for a meal in the middle of the week, but as it was my birthday week I decided to treat myself. And I am so glad that I did. I can say that everything about the experience eating here was pleasant. For one the fact that I arrived here after 7pm and they close at 8pm, yet there was a steady influx of customers speaks to just how popular they are. There was one person in line behind me and I felt bad for them a little because I knew I was going to ask a bunch of questions because I've been looking forward to coming here and it is out the way so I was going to ask the right questions to make sure I got something I liked. With that being said, the man taking my order was very helpful and patient. I know I took at least 5 mins to order yet he was cool answering all of the questions I had. I generally hate when the kiosk asks if I'd like to tip when I'm not dealing with a waiter but the service he provided paired with the amount of questions I had led me to leave a tip. Again I had to drive a distance to eat here so I went in knowing that I was going to be ordering food to eat there as well as being able to bring some home, because there is no telling when the next time will be that I want to make the trek. To keep things balanced, I ordered a cold and a hot sandwich. I went with a build your own for the cold sandwich and went with turkey and roast beef for meats, deli provolone for cheese, spring lettuce, roasted red peppers, red onion, olive smear and house marinated pepper blend for toppings, sub oil, spicy deli mustard and basil pesto (on the side) for extras, all on a crusty Italian roll for the bread. For the hot sandwich I went with the chicken parm and added light red onions to it. I also made my first sandwich a combo with chips and a drink. They serve Pepsi products for the fountain drinks and Zapp's products for the chips. One pet peeve I do have with places is that when I order an additional meat and don't feel like I got extra but instead just less of my other meat to make up for my extra. That is how I feel about the pastrami that I had added to my cold sandwich. Both sandwiches were really good. I wouldn't say that they were the best sandwiches I've ever had but they were solid. The cold sandwich was my creation so take that as you will. The flavors on it was all good, but nothing shooting over the moon to me. All of the food on the sandwich looked and tasted fresh. The hot sandwich is one of theirs with a slight add from me and it again was good but the flavor didn't just jump out for me. Making a chicken parm exceptional takes some work so I'm not mad at what they serve and it is cooked and served with an excellent broil on it. The bread on both sandwiches I will say was a stand out because it held up and had a good crust and chew while still being soft. I will say that I wasn't able to try many of their menu favorites because I don't eat pork, so some of those may be even more delicious. No complaints on any of the flavor but wouldn't have been made at a few more unctuous notes to the palate. I also got the cannoli which was cool. Nothing significant but I'm not mad that I got it. I would also like to note that the bathroom is kept very nice and smells well. I'm 90% sure that someone was blowing up the toilet before I went in yet it didn't stink when I went in. Not sure if they just sprayed a lot or the upkeep but either way kudos. I generally would've gotten food like this to go, but given the distance and that I wanted to get as fresh of a food experience as I can I did dine in. Getting there at the end of the day I was there as they were closing up. As they closed up the staff kept a respectable distance from me as I ate as to not disturb my food with the cleaning. Now that I've eaten here I can honestly say that I get why it has so much hype. Though I wasn't wowed by the food I was wowed by the service and the food was delicious. I'm not sure of when I'll next make the trip here but I do know that I'll feel confident that it will be a meal well enjoyed when I do. Thought I posted this review lol so I'll add to it since I returned again. Again great service and delicious food. The food here is so good and the location is so out of the way that both times I've gone I've left with 2 sandwiches for myself. I again got a Chicken Parm in all of it's deliciousness but this time made my cold BYO sandwich into a hot one and OMG was it banging! This place serves up deliciousness with ease.

Twice I have witnessed the same worker use her DIRTY gloves to make sandwiches. Once you use your gloves to do anything other than putting sandwiches together, you need to get new gloves. Don't have gloves on while using a dirty towel to "clean up" around your workspace and then not get new gloves before you continue to make sandwhiches.
