I first met him at Linear Hair in Irvine and have been following him ever since. My friends all know how particular I am and would not trust anyone else with my hair. Michael has taken me from extremely dark brunette with beautiful highlights to my beautiful blonde color I have now with ease. I've been seeing my esthetician, Diep (Lynn is her English name), for almost five years now, so wherever she goes, I will follow. Since I was 13, I had really bad skin - tiny white bumps and hormonal pimples - and it didn't help that acne runs in my family but somehow, she helped my skin clear up! It's gotten to the point where I only need to wear concealer for my dark circles (which is a whole different story) and whenever I get my makeup done professionally, I get lots of compliments on my skin! She has helped me gain confidence and I can finally feel comfortable in my own skin. Diep truly cares about her clients and goes the extra mile to make her schedule work with yours. She keeps it honest and doesn't try to sell other services to you if she doesn't believe you would benefit from it. Other than being an excellent esthetician, she's just a really amazing human and spending an hour with her goes by so quickly. She makes you feel like family. She only works on the weekends, so be sure to book an appointment with her as soon as you can. This will probably get buried and hidden but it should be said that the services provided were absolutely HORRIFIC. They had no idea how to color -correct, but took the appointment after we explained the situation, verifying they would be able to help add some warmth to an ashy brown I had gotten. The owner KNOWINGLY gave the appointment (a very delicate situation, emotional as well) to a worker. Not a stylist, not a colorist, but come to find out - someone who has only had her license for 2 months. ( I am reporting to the Board). When my family member asked to see her license, the owner snapped that she learned everything in school. Obviously not color, and seems unfortunately not caucasion-fine hair. She bleached my hair instead of toning the color. She left me alone and my hair was BigBird yellow after processing. Maybe she forgot about me because the other client next to me got up and WALKED OUT BECAUSE HER COLOR REQUEST WENT ABSOLUTELY WRONG AND WAS DEVASTATED. (Come to think of it, this salon was not prepared for any of the jobs they booked). More attempts at color-correcting and hair salvation and as she's brushing it out, I watch my hair FALLING OUT IN CLUMPS. My hair had changed from yellow to gray. I am in my early 20's. The owner had the audacity to blame MY HAIR, blame me telling me that I "should have planned ahead" when she knew I was getting important photos taken for my job. I'm sorry, planned ahead for WHAT? MY HAIR to be bleached and burned off? For the girl to HIDE THE BRUSH AS SHE PULLED OUT CLUMPS OF HAIR? I also found clumps of hair in the towel that they had folded over so as not to show. Needless to say, I did not have to pay. They spoke Vietnamese to each other but did not say anything helpful to rectify the situation to ME, (JUST more blame and condescending attitude) I had family come to see what to do with my hair. We took out a translator app and had the people speak in Vietnamese and it translated that the process happened too fast. She didn't MEAN IT. Asked for our forgiveness. I am sick to my stomach that the new owner put an inexperienced girl named Thi Kim Phoung Nguyen in a situation that was WAY OVER HER SKILL LEVEL. ALL SHE COULD SAY WAS THAT HER HAIR BROKE! Was how she explained through our translator app. They offered to fix it later, in a few days. (It was near closing time by this point.) Obviously, traumatized and now worried my hair would CONTINUE TO FALL OUT, I was never going back to this family-owned/keep-it-in-the-family salon. We had to purchase Olaplex in hopes of saving the bleach fail. ($240+ we should not have had to purchase) In hopes of hydrating fragile hair before going somewhere else... We are going to go back in and request a reimbusement for the money we spent at an honest salon (another $340) who did NOT BLEACH, but brought back color to my HIDEOUS BRITTLE BEIGE hair and will monitor the strength of my hair as we nurse it back to hydration. It was healthy before I walked into MeDA. I contacted them with questions before I made the 30 minute drive to come to the salon. They knew that they were dealing with a difficult situation. If they did not have the proper staff, they should have put the customer first and said NO. KNOW your limits and your employee's limitations. The owner did not apologize, but all the employees did. The Reviews say new owner=Amanda, but she did not even give us a card when I asked for one. Amanda should be ashamed of her management style. She was rude, avoided us, had no empathy, and even with a translator app, she would not speak towards a solution. Be aware of this salon. Reviews, ironically, led us here. We trusted the manager when she said to come in and they would help. Go elsewhere for hair care, at least. read more

I've been seeing Michael for over five years now and I drive 45 minutes for his hair cuts. He's the only person I've found between LA and OC who doesn't leave me feeling like "what did I just do?! I can't wait for it to grow out". Instead, after every hair cut I feel good because I he hears me, and does exactly what I ask for. He offers suggestions if he thinks differently, and I always come away with an incredible haircut. He's helped me grow my hair long and always cuts just enough to keep it healthy but not looking significantly shorter.
