We came for take-out, due to Covidgeddon. The staff were being very conscientious, wearing masks and washing hands between ringing up customers, so I felt pretty good about their safety protocols. We ordered the Lamb Kebab Wrap off the specials menu and it was delicious! They threw some marinated chunks of lamb right on the grill and cooked it right before our eyes. The marinade was so flavorful and the amount of meat they stuffed in the wrap made me glad we were sharing it. The meat was very well cubed, no questionable gristly bits at all. The wrap had tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and some magical secret sauce. They were cool about us sharing, too,. They even asked if we'd like it cut and wrapped separately. We got the Small Greek salad, (feeling guilty about only ordering one wrap) and I'm really glad we did. It was quite simple; tomatoes, cucumbers and slivered onions, yet had a ton of fresh herbs that really elevated it to a special treat. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some of their other gyros, wraps and combo platters, but it's going to be really hard not to order that Lamb Kebab wrap again! read more

Took my husband for the first time in years and it did not disappoint. We split a gyro plate with hummus and mujadara sides, got an extra side of baba ganouj and some falafel. Everything was extremely delicious!! We were so full too. Came here with some good friends after shopping at the Concord Farmer's market. I was in the mood for some good Mediterranean food and since the reviews of this place were so high, I had a feeling that I had made a good choice. Were very warmly greeted by a very nice woman who proudly told us about her products in the glass case, their fresh falafel and how they cook and slice their meats for gyros. If you are looking for fresh meat that is not pressed and formed for your gyro, then this is the place for you! I explained to the woman that I had had Greek food in the past but some of her dishes I didn't recognize. She got several tasting spoons for my friends and I gave us nice size tastes of some of the things they serve...falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, tabouli and something else...I decided on the vegetarian plate that came with the freshest pita I have ever tasted! Stopped by this place to grab some food before the concert nearby at the Sleep Train. It was a stinking hot day, and walking into this place, you'd expect some AC blasting, but it was even warmer. Yuck. At 5:00 PM, there were a decent amount of folks in here, felt like they were all heading over to the concert as well. There are a total of 2 workers here, one taking orders at the cashier and assisting with the food, and one cook. They have a huge menu on the wall, but the paper menus give you more of a description. Typical mediterranean fare, and I wasn't all that hungry so I went with a small order of pita and hummus and 2 falafels. Minimum of $5 to use your card. Mural paintings everywhere, even in the bathroom, nice touch. We put a couple tables together, and the booth sitting is super uncomfortable. They made it so high, that they give you about 5 inches from booth to the table. Our food was delivered one by one, and they gave me an entire container of hummus (imagine Trader Joe's size). HUGE! Along with 2 pita breads cut in half. The hummus was good. However, everyone's pita was HARD. nearly pita CHIP hard. I'd prefer mine fluffy, but these were definitley store bought and cooked way too long. The falafels were decent, but has way too much sesame seeds all over them. At least they weren't dry. Overall, our experience was just okay. Wouldn't come back unless if I wanted some home made hummus. read more

I friggin love gyros. Sometimes I just get mad cravings for a Gyro and I just need to satisfy my hunger. It's kinda like my cravings for a burrito or a hamburger. Probably doesn't make sense but I wanted a Gyro nevertheless! This was the second time I've been here and they did not disappoint twice. They are located in the Park and Shop near the Mc.Donald's. The customer service was nice and the decor inside was as cool as I thought it was going to be seeing the pictures from others. When I got there my order was already ready when I phoned it in. I was happy I got through this time because the last time I tried to call it in, no one picked up. :( In terms of food, the last time I had the Chicken Shawerma which wasn't anything to write home about. Nothing really bad about it but just was ok. This time I tried the gyro and I am soooooo glad I did. The sauce was on point and the meat was very tender. I will add that you get a lot of meat for what it is. Most gyro's in the area I've tried don't have as much meat as this place packed. I know some fellow carnivores may shun me for this but I kinda wish there were a tad bit more veggies in it. I feel that would balance out the meat and give the gyro a tad bit more flavor overall. Aside from that, I think I will be coming back since it's so close to work. I probably will try something different next time but I definitely think this place has potential! With plentiful options in the "Hell and Shop" (Park and Shop) as fellow Yelper "Shayla B." calls it. I wanted something new. Having been around this shopping for years on years I know it pretty well so when something new pops up. But this something new I wanted was in fact something not so new. A long time staple in the "Park and Shop" in Concord "The Mediterranean" has always been a place I wanted to visit and after years I decided to go inside and this is what I got. Service/Hospitality: As soon as I walked in with my phone set on camera mode. I was greated by two gentlemen behind the counter. One was by the "Shawarma" station and the other was by the register waiting for me. They both gave warm smiles and allowed me to take some quick photos and then I proceeded with my order. The service here was "Impeccable" to say the least and is worth "5 Stars" alone. But that brings me to the next part of this review.... Food/Cleanliness: Before I get to the food, I will have to say this establishment was very clean and tidy. As soon as someone left they were tending to the table and cleaning it and the floors and cooking area was clean as well, bravo staff. So now on to the food, this is what I ordered.. Chicken Shawarma Combo - $12.95 Large Drink - $2.25 With the combo you get a choice of two sides. I got the "Hummus" which came with "Pita Bread" and "Greek Salad" and you also got one "Dolma" of course the star of this show is the "Chicken Shawarma" which was served over a bed of rice with a douse of sauce and "Tzatziki Sauce" let me break down each thing. Hummus - Pretty underwhelming, it was bland almost tasteless. Perhaps a bit more seasoning was needed here or that thing to make it stand out a bit more. Greek Salad - It was refreshing, I picked out the green bell peppers. Simple salad and I was pleased with it. Dolma - This was awesome! I loved how the taste was as familiar to others I've had at other similar establishments. Great flavor. Chicken Shawarma - It was just.."Okay" I wasn't excited after the first bite. The chicken was under seasoned and the added sauces did little to add to the taste. The chicken was cooked nicely just flavor wise it wasn't all there leaving this dish underwhelming as well. But the portion size was nice. Overall: "The Mediterranean" is in a pretty popular shopping center adding a different ethnic flair to the food scene that is mostly "Oriental" or "Latino" as far as choices goes. Will I go back? I will say yes, I didn't hate my time here at all. I just wanted more bolder flavors out of the dishes. Perhaps one more time with another dish I get that. read more

This place has maybe the best Kofta wrap I've ever had. Period. It's cooked hard on the plancha and the meat comes with those oh so delicious crispy, lacy craggly bits that you get on only the best smashed burgers. I asked for it spicy and they didn't disappoint. One of the few places in the area to get a gyro and it's mega great value for your money. 8 dollars for a wrap that is huge and feeds two and is delicious. Can't beat that! Staff are very nice and your food is ready in a flash. You don't go there for the decor. It's pretty basic although they do have a few murals on the walls. Speaking of murals... I recommend you use the restroom whilst you are there. Why? Because I bet you've never seen a restroom like this one. It's a virtual cornucopia of sea life (including Sponge Bob). Once inside, you are transported to an undersea world. You will see dolphins and whales and so much more. Oh my! I'm not sure if it's under new ownership or new management, but there's a visible difference from when I originally wrote my first review. I was sad to see the ceiling mural painted over, and their food does not taste the same. Tabouli could use some mint and more lemon. And my mom's baba ghanoush wrap was just the sauce wrapped in a large pita for about $7...nothing else Perhaps the biggest difference to me is the CUSTOMER SERVICE. The cashier was VERY RUDE. I ordered the Chicken Shewarma Combo and he rudely told me that it was not a rice plate? Um, do you know the contents of your menu, sir? He was corrected by the other guy and told me it comes in a plate with rice and NOT wrapped in pita...yeah, I know that-duh! Order at the counter on the right and pay at the register. We ordered the chicken kabob plate with hummus, tabbouleh, and dolmas, baba ghanouj and pita, and a falafel wrap. The kabob was good, but the best thing was probably the falafel wrap. The falafel was yummy and I would definitely order it again. Overall, the wrap was good but the rest was just ok. I would come back and try more of their wraps, hopefully when they are not too busy. read more

Just finished watching Endgame (3 hrs, 2 min!) and we were hungry. Drove to Park N Shop because The Mediterranean doesn't disappoint. Cute little restaurant that offers salads, wraps and combo plates. We were in the mood for chicken wraps and falafel. It's a nice change from burgers or pizza. Our order was ready in less than 10 minutes and we were on our way home. The wraps are huge! Full of meat and spices. We also ordered 6 falafel balls. But we pass by this place and we ignored it but we went to pho place it was packed so we decided to eat at The Mediterranean place as soon we walked in we was greeted by one lady so nice and helped us on what was good to eat. Since I tried Lamb alot I tried the Lamb Wrap with fries and guess what at out 10 i give it a 10/10 really good and tasty! I got so full that I feel like im going to explode! First off I just from the bathroom alone this place is amazing gets 5 stars. They have the cleanest restroom I have ever seen in any restaurant even the most expensive ones and it's full of art. The food is authentic. I know my shawarma and it's similar to the shawarma made in most middle eastern countries. Plus they make their sandwiches and wraps with authentic tahini sauce not some fake knockoff yogurt sauce. They also have REALLY AUTHENTIC sides to go with your main order. A great hole in the wall place to get tast Mediterranean food. I have eaten here many times. The falafel wrap is on of my favorites. It is wrapped in thin lavosh bread and grilled. This gives it a smokey flavor and crispy texture. The ambiance is fun . It is panted like a beach side resort. I have tried a majority of mediterranean restaurants in the East Bay and many more beyond and can tell you that the falafel here is fried fresh and crunchy and is spiced perfectly. In most other places the falafel is relatively limp and tasteless. The meats here are also fresh, tasty and tender, not dry and overcooked like at many other places. Some reviewers have referred to the restaurant as a "hole in the wall" but I view it as more of an oasis within a crappy old strip center.
