Took the family to the melt. My picky granddaughter tried everything and loved it, as did the rest of us.

I went there last night to get my child a kids meal and a milkshake. I asked if the fries that came with the meal could be the upgraded to the Parmesan garlic fries if I paid extra towards it. The staff said it couldn't be done and it had to be a separate order. When I received the text my order was ready, the milkshake was not ready. I told the girl who handed me the bag I was still waiting for the milkshake. She nodded and walked past out the counter to the side and started talking to someone else. Then another staff asked me if I was waiting for something and I told her. She yells over to the girl who walked out the counter who continued to ignore her about the milkshake. Then another staff member walks past the milkshake machine and was asked to make the milkshake and she did. Unprofessional is all I can say. Why text me if the order wasn't complete. Why ask me if I was waiting for something else to complete my order then walk off to talk to someone random. Customer service doesn't exist here. At least my child ate her burger which means it was decent but she hardly touched her milkshake, and she usually loves ice cream. I want a refund for the milkshake. read more

I am extremely disappointed with thses so called Garlic Parmesan fries. They obviously came straight out the a freezer in the microwave a microscopic dash of garlic and some hard as rock parmo pieces on literally 6 of the 30 fries..my husband won't even eat his now because the egg is supposed to be completely fried..NOT runny at all. His bread is falling apart its so wet. And being new to a job is understandable..but come on put someone with a little more experience on the phones please. read more

I finally have Melt a try and I'm happy I did. It was very crowded and the line was out the door, but I have to say the staff was extremely efficient and we received our food very quickly. This is a tightly run ship. I gave the mega melt a try - the portion was big and the burger was perfectly cooked and very well seasoned. Five stars for taste and the meat being cooked perfectly. The french fries were good and everyone in my party was happy with the quality of the food. The cons: because they cook with so much cheese the grill is very greasy and thus so are the burgers. Also, they have "natural" soda not Coke or Pepsi. Coke is only available in cans. Finally, the price point is a little high. $17 for a regular burger, fries and drink is a bit much for lunch. Especially when the drinks are terrible. Melt has a lot of potential and is a fun place to try something new - I plan to come back and try the mac n cheese sandwich. Yum! read more

Not sure why The Melt has 3 stars on Yelp, but my best friend and I decided to try it on a whim and The Melt blew our minds. I got the Steak & Cheese with tomato soup. The sandwich was the best philly cheesesteak-esque sandwich I ever had. And dipping that into tomato soup was excellent. There was a lot of flavor and crunch. My best friend got the classic grilled cheese with tomato soup and she also loved it. There was a long line the whole time we were there and I totally understand why. Wandering around the Spectrum with a friend we decided to try The Melt for lunch. She got the chicken melt sandwich and I tried the grilled cheese. Both were very tasty. I was pleased that they were able to make my grilled cheese with my choice of cheeses, as I prefer mild cheese rather than stronger flavors. Drinks were somewhat limited as there was not a fountain, but only canned or bottled beverages. They did offer me a cup for ice to use with my canned soda. Not a lot of seating available either, but the staff was friendly and food was quickly prepared for pick up. I had high expectations for their food, but I was pretty disappointed. The price isn't too bad, but I felt like their portions cold have been bigger. I built my own burger but it wasn't a stellar burger - maybe because it was based on my own recipe, but the meat felt overcooked. Their Naked fries (shoestring fries basically) were good, but they weren't incredible. Maybe it was because I ordered the wrong thing, but I wasn't impressed with it. We ended up at "The Melt" to meet family from out of town. The first thing I noticed was the grimy dirty windows...normally that would be a clue to turn around and find somewhere else for dinner. My cousins had heard good things about the food and really wanted to eat there, so we did. As I expected the inside of this place was just as disgusting as the windows! The floor was filthy, the table was sticky, it was a greasy mess behind the cashier. The drink machine was just plain nasty. It looked as if that drink area hadn't been cleaned...EVER. It was a filthy mess and actually had a hair stuck to the wall Against my better judgment and to appease my cousins...we ate there. I ordered the Patty Melt. I expected to get some kind of illness from eating in such an unsanitary establishment But to my surprise my melt was actually ok, except for the grease dripping from the burger. I now know how the grease gets all over everything in that place. My cousins enjoyed their food but I can't say that for the rest of the people at dinner. We cleaned up our table and went to dump our trash. Now I know it's a trash can...HOWEVER the top has never been wiped down. There again was a sticky mess....including hairs stuck to the top. It must be obvious by now that nasty hairs stuck to walls/trash is a huge pet peeve of mine. I don't want to see hairs in the same place I'm expected to eat. My brother was actually sick after trying to eat there and had to go sit in the car. It would really benefit this establishment to close its doors and thoroughly clean top to bottom and implement some cleaning duties into job descriptions. I'm sick to my stomach writing this review realizing I actually ate there. The food has potential but the restaurant should be shut down due to unsanitary conditions. The food was pretty good, but the chicken tasted really bland...not fresh, either. The portions are VERY small for what you pay for them and everything is overpriced for what you pay for. Because I love cheese! I mean really who doesn't!?! I've been to the melt a few times and the menu is pretty decent overall. I'm a simple kind of girl who doesn't require much of anything. I will say that I do love a good grilled cheese and melt has one of the best. The location at the spectrum is super convenient being that my office isn't too far away just a few exits. I like the mobile order option if you order via the website you can just scan your phone upon arrival and they'll prepare your meal. If you have the mobile app you can choose to have your food ready before arrival. I usually go with just a grilled cheese and tomato soup. The grilled cheese is extra cheesy and gooey. The soup is also great and the price isn't too bad. I also like how they have craft sodas. They also have milkshakes, but I have yet to try one. Overall the melt is a great option for a quick lunch. the melt used to be awesome until they experienced some identify crisis and decided to add burgers to the menu and drastically change up the menu... i haven't been back in a while and i decided to stop by for a classic grilled cheese to go. i was hoping they still had their delicious salad that came with the grilled cheese but that was removed from the menu. my grilled cheese was stale and by the time i went home the bread was pretty much in this foamy inedible form (maybe from the moisture)... i ate it regardless because i was hungry :( crossing the melt off after this experience... until they find their identity back AND provide quality food. read more

After hearing so much talk about The Melt, I made a stop while I was at the Spectrum Center. I think I could eat grilled cheese breakfast, lunch, and dinner so I knew I would love this place. I ordered the classic grilled cheese and tomato basil soup. Both were really good. The sandwich is also really big and filing so it is worth the money. Lemonade was delicious. I had high hopes, The Melt. I had high hopes. They should probably change the name to "The Meh" Came in today for a lunch date with the hubs. We've passed by this place numerous times before and had been curious to try it, we finally had the chance to get away from work at the same time and met up here. I ordered Egg in the hole, hubs ordered the Mac Daddy. The Egg in a hole is a grilled cheese sandwich with aged cheddar with an egg on top of sourdough. Mac Daddy has mac n' cheese with bacon slices inside the classic grilled cheese sandwich. My sandwich was minuscule. I'm a petite girl, but dang...this sandwich was probably made to cater smurfs, or Lilliputians. You get the point. The egg on top was dry and it was more like a boiled egg. Cheese was meh, bread was chewy and hard at the same time. I couldn't even eat the crust it was so hard. There was not enough cheese, and small amount of cheese in it had barely any flavor. Aged cheddar is supposed to be sharp, this one was just blah. Dave's sandwich was also pretty small. The bacon added flavor to what would have been a dismal sandwich, but it was too thin!. The Yelpers that said the food here is bland, well, they're right. They make their own soda syrups, made from cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. The root beer was especially refreshing, had more vanilla flavor than the national brands. Besides the forgettable food, the lady who took our order was enthusiastic and friendly, so they at least have good service here. Other than that, I'll go eat somewhere else. read more

Gourmet Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. The place is alright, and has it's own look. Everything in the place is a pronoun. The Melt, The Straws, The Soda, The Trash, etc. which is a cool gimmick at first. The Soda is all real sugar cane soda. So they taste very different than name brand soda. Which isn't a bad thing, it's just not going to be the taste you're expecting. Every Meal comes with a sandwhich, chips or salad, and a pickle. I would definitely recommend trying this place, but I feel it could be a lot better than it is. read more

Got the Italian Job (the one with mushrooms) and I liked it a lot. I'm a total sucker for melted cheese and when I saw the guy next to me having the Classic I was drooling all over the place, I nee to try that one next time. The setup is simple, small and rather organized, with a screen that shows your spot in line so you know how long you have till you can stuff your face with melted cheese. The service is OK, the seating is limited but you can take your tray outside where are tables available. Ordered the: MAC DADDY ($5.95) - Grilled cheese with aged sharp cheddar, bacon, and macaroni on artisan white bread. They give a good amount of bacon and the flavor of cheese is good. Noodles and bread were cooked well, no complaints WELL DRESSED FRIED ($3.95) - Russets, Cheddar, Fontina & Jack, Bacon w/ Crispy Onions. Highlight of the meal, the fries are seasoned and cooked perfectly.
