Their food is ridiculously good. My husband usually gets a double melt burger with everything on it. It is super juicy. I usually get th impossible burger with the house aioli to share with our son. Yuuummy!!Something that I recently started getting is their Cobb salad. Perfect for a late night meal when all the deliciousness that is their burger is unneeded. Lastly, they are starting to stay open on certain nights till 12 AM. Only a few places are like that in the UTC area. read more

For my first visit I thought it was weird that they did not have mac and cheese and it was only 1pm. They were out of the sauce, I was hoping to try the mac and cheese. Anyways, I went with the Swiss Mushroom Burger and it was pretty good. I can taste the fresh ingredients, I was surprised there was spinach leaves in the mushroom burger but I am happy to say that is a nice change as most mushroom burgers I have eaten don't come with any real veggies other than the mushrooms. Overall, pretty good I think the burger looked small but I was pretty full after eating just one burger. They kind of remind of In and Out but again I feel they are pricey. I guess they are going with quality I didnt buy fries or any other sides so I can't give my option on that. I thought over all everything else price was expensive for sides alone. I am not sure i would pay 3.99 for fries. I ended up going home to throw in some fries in my deep fryer it a meal for myself. read more

This was my first time visiting The Melt in La Jolla. While it may not look like much from the outside (aka small hole in the wall)- fabulous burgers, melts, chicken sandwiches, fries, craft sodas, and hand crafted shakes along with friendly customer service greets you upon entering! A HUGE plus for The Melt is that all of their burgers, melts, and sandwiches can be made gluten free at no additional charge. The place was clean, the food was great and the customer service was fabulous. A BIG thanks to Grace, May, and Terrance for helping make my family's experience a great one! Everytime I come to this location I am never disappointed. My favorite order here is the Swiss and mushroom Chicken and although they have really yummy fries I love to get the Garlic Chicken bacon Mac and the double chocolate milkshake. I am a student at UCSD and getting food from The Melt La Jolla is always very easy and convenient. I came to the store the other day and ordered a "three cheese classic" with a tomato soup after being recommended it, and it was phenomenal. I had never had such a cheesy and crispy grilled cheese in my life. Perfect for an after midterm craving!! I was serviced by an employee named Emberly who was kind and told me it was one of her favorite items on the menu. After this experience, I recommended this place to all my friends. My favorite take away from The Melt is that the cutlery is all compostable. The food was decent, the service was fine but my husband and I spent nearly $40 for two impossible burger combos. The price is just too expensive for a "decent" meal. There was nothing special about the food or presentation that made us feel good about spending that much. I'm a big fan of the Egg in the Hole sandwich -- the first time I got it, it was phenomenal. Egg cooked really well, really well made, just a 10/10. Second time I came back they gave me the wrong order (they made me my appropriate order when I pointed this out) but the eggs were a bit undercooked. The last time I came, the eggs were really undercooked with entirely uncooked egg bits. It also included my FAVORITE part of any sandwich -- the bag tie from the bread bag. Their strawberry lemonade was too sweet and small. They say order a combo to save but it's only like $0.50 cent saving. For two meals I spent $30 and we only got 1 drink. their mac and cheese grilled cheese is amazingly good - I get it with avocado and tomato. But for some reason everytime I've had it (3times) I've gotten sick to the point of vomiting.
