I've heard people rave about this restaurant for years now and wanted to find out for myself what the craze was all about. This was my first time at any of their locations, as well as the first time I'd ever had fondue. I've had melted chocolate from a fountain before at a wedding, but this was a little different. I signed up online to be part of their Club Fondue, so I receive emails when they have specials and also coupons for 6 free chocolate covered strawberries on my birthday and anniversary. If you are redeeming your strawberry coupon they ask that you call in ahead of time (I would do so when making your reservation) to ensure they will have them ready for you. Currently during Lent they are offering Friday specials of endless seafood and pasta for $35 a person. This price includes a cheese fondue of your choice, a salad of your choice, your entree, and a dessert fondue of your choice. Normally this meal is about $50 a person, so I figured this was as good a time as any to try them out. I fully admit that going in my expectations were way too high. Austin has spoiled me with truly phenomenal food at inexpensive prices, so when I sit down knowing our bill is going to be over $100 I expect to be wowed. Sadly I wish my rating was higher because in terms of service, ambiance, and effort made, all of it was 5 stars easily. We had Gabriel as our server and he was delightful. He took his time to go over the menu and make recommendations for us, and was always near to refill our drinks or ask if we needed more of anything. We started with cocktails and both were amazing. I got the fizzy Bellini ($7.95) which had champagne, peach schnapps, and a splash of fresh orange juice. I could have easily blown through a pitcher of those! My husband got the sailor's punch ($8.75) which had rum, orange and pineapple juices, and is garnished with 3 maraschino cherries. For our cheese fondue we picked the classic Alpine. The menu described it as a mix of aged Gruyere, raclette, and fontina. They start by building the base for you and letting it simmer before they add the cheeses. Our base had white wine, fresh garlic, and nutmeg and the smell was intoxicating. It was very good but heavy. Probably best to order if you are in a larger group and can share. We both picked Cesar salad and then anxiously waited for our main meals to arrive. Gabriel recommended the mojo base with citrus and garlic for our dinners as the flavors pair nicely with seafood. He gave us each a plate with raw shrimp, scallops, salmon, ahi tuna, marscapone and sun dried tomato ravioli, spinach and artichoke ravioli, and a vegetable bowl with mushrooms, potatoes, and broccoli. There were plenty of dipping sauces as well including spicy plum, yellow curry, sweet teriyaki, cream cheese herb, and blue cheese. It's a little overwhelming at first since you cook all your own food but fun once you get the hang of it. What lacked to us was the taste. The seafood tasted as if it came straight from the Wal Mart freezer section and was not at all fresh or worthy of its price tag. To be honest, most items tasted that way. Dessert was good (we chose the plain dark chocolate fondue), but the dippers tasted like they were from a grocery store's few days old bakery department. The strawberries, bananas, and rice krispy treats were fine, but the angel food cake, chocolate chip blondies, and brownies were straight from a box. I should want to eat those items on their own before dipping them in chocolate, but I didn't. Eating here was like seeing a play in a gorgeous theater with beautiful actors who simply lacked talent. The effort was made, but the quality of the food didn't match. I would highly recommend coming here for drinks and doing either the cheese or dessert fondue with a bunch of friends. But I would most likely skip doing a full dinner here again. read more

I must start this by saying that I am a Melting Pot regular, just not this location. I know what the service is supposed to be, and I am generally a huge fan. That is why this experience was so frustratingly disappointing. We were also the victim of credit card fraud at this location. Avoid it at all costs. The service was terrible. We couldn't get any refills on our drinks by halfway through the entree, despite promises from the server. We had to wait nearly 20 minutes to get our credit card picked up, and when it returned to us, the server had added $6.50 to the total on the original bill. He also failed to include the original itemized bill or a new copy to explain the charges. He had apparently forgotten an item, but instead of letting us know up front, he never mentioned it, as if it could fly under the radar. If I had not had so much time waiting to get the card picked up in the first place, I may not have noticed that he charged us more than what we were originally presented on the check. As the extra special ending, the next day, I discovered the server had added an extra $5.00 tip to our bill. When I called to report this, I was told they would refund the $5.00 to me and have a "sit down" talk with him. This is two separate instances of credit card fraud. I strongly recommended avoiding this location! The manager tried to make it right by offering a $25 gift certificate for a future visit - valid only for this location. Since we don't live in the same state, that is unhelpful, and I do not trust them to ever touch my credit card again. Stay far far away. read more

Well, we had reservations at 7:30 and didn't get seated until about 8:00. I'm quite sure several groups without reservations were seated before us. The night started off with this frustrating experience. Apparently, they were understaffed for the Monday ladies night outing. I guess that's why we couldn't be seated until 8:00? Actually, it became apparent they were understaffed when the bartender ended up having to wait on us at the table. I'll give her due credit and say she was friendly and competent. We appreciate the fact that we had her as a server although it's kind of strange that the bartender also had to be a waiter. FYI - the Melting Pot in Houston is much nicer in terms of employees, environment, etc. It actually feels like an upscale restaurant with professionally dressed and acting employees. The NW Austin location could learn a few things from the Houston location. read more

The Melting Pot was definitely a great find! It is such a unique experience! I do not recommend going there if you are on a budget. However, my group of 4 had Groupons and we spent around $100.00 with drinks and all 4 courses. The food they serve is high quality expensive foods to begin with so it is on the pricey side. You can definitely tone it down with a few secrets: Here are my tips: *ALWAYS make a reservation. No matter what time of day. It will make your life easier. * I would not recommend bringing small children/toddlers. The center of the table is a large hot plate and the pot gets VERY hot. I could even feel the steam on my face after a few minutes. Also, the dipper sticks can be easily reached by little fingers while they are cooking. *Big money saver: One cheese/chocolate portion is good enough for two people (moderate eaters). Unless you can eat an amazing amount of food, a portion for 2 is good for 4 people, so this can be a great way to save money on your check since each portion is around 8 bucks. Also, stick with water to drink. The flavors are very robust and I ended up filling my water twice before I finished my drink. The drinks are a bit pricey too. *Dress up-ish. This is a fine dining experience with a dimly lit atmosphere and relaxing music in the background. (I didn't see a single person in there with flip flops.) *If you have a Groupon there will be a separate menu - a lot of people don't like this feature, but you have to think about the expensive food this restaurant serves (filet, lobster, shrimp, duck, mahi, etc..). I would be really surprised if they didn't have a separate one. *Gratuities are included in the check. *Get the Flaming Turtle desert if you want a show! They literally pour blue fire onto your chocolate!! My party of 4 had never been there before and knew absolutely nothing about fondue dining. Our waiter, Brian, was probably the best waiter I have ever had (and that's saying something with 17yrs of food service experience....I am very hard to impress). He explained everything and made everything sound delicious! We were even able to buy the spice array he brought to the table and suggested. It was incredible! (white wine and garlic) It is definitely not something I will be able to afford very often, but I would love to go back! I would eat at the Melting Pot all the time if I could afford it. I have been to this location a few times and absolutely LOVE it. The food has always been super delicious no matter what we ordered. Although, I will say I'm not a big fan of all their sauces. I tend to stick to teriyaki, the pureed mushroom one and the green goddess (not entirely sure what's in it). But some of the time, you don't need sauces because the good tastes so good on its own. My boyfriend and I usually get The Big Night Out or some similar deal where you get an entree, a salad, cheese fondue and dessert fondue. MMmmmmmmmm.. The service has always been fantastic and attentive and funny. We've also been given free champagne for celebrating birthdays and Valentine's day (even though it wasn't even on Vday) before which was pretty sweet. I love the atmosphere of this place. Low dim lights and high seat backings so that each table is pretty private. DEFINITELY take your sweetie here for vday or any other holiday for that matter! Just be sure to make reservations a really long time in advance (at least 3 weeks) because they tend to book up fast for holidays. They also have bigger tables in case you come with a group. Also, I freakin love fondue. I know it takes a long time to actually cook and eat all your dinner (if you get the whole big night out deal or something similar, expect to be here at least 3 hours), but it's so much fun to me! It's such a fun thing to experience at least once and lends itself to having lots of time for conversation with your dinner partner. They have a huge wine selection apparently and it's actually pretty cool because they keep all the wine in this room encased in glass almost in the middle of all the tables at the front part of their restaurant, so you can look in when you're sitting there and see all the stacks and stacks of wine bottles. Pretty cool. And I don't even drink wine. It is pretty dang expensive but for all the food you get and the whole experience of fondue cooking, I think it's totally worth it. Join their e-club and get a coupon for a free chocolate fondue for two! The chocolate peanut butter fondue sets you in a state of ecstasy, it's that good. And their bathrooms are really fancy and really clean. Just be careful about going around corners as there are lots of employees walking briskly around with searing hot pots of cheese, etc. They seem to have a system of yelling "corner!" or something when they go around one to warn anyone standing there or coming their way. I've never seen anything happen, but just be aware. Also, word of advice: DON'T BRING YOUR KIDS HERE. EVER. This is much more of a romantic restaurant or a fun thing to do with *adult* friends. I can't stand it when people bring their kids here and they cry the whole time because they don't want to have to sit and wait 5 minutes to eat one piece of food. Terrible terrible service! We did have a party of 10 (with a reservation set 2 weeks prior) you'd like think that they anticipate serving us in a timely manor?! Sat down around 8pm, didn't even get water to our table until 8:20ish, other ordered beverages followed about 10-15 minutes after that. Didn't get to order until after this and then us being served our courses we're extremely slow. Sat down at 8pm didn't get to leave the restaurant until after 12pm because one thing after another according to our waitress. The waitress seemed overwhelmed and although she was sweet, it seemed everything under the sun went wrong during our dining experience. Forgetting to bring things we asked for, the system glitching and not allowing us to check out until after 11:45pm, and our tickets being wrong multiple times. The only reason why this location gets the 2 stars is because the food was actually delicious. But due to the staff & even cleanliness of the private room, I would not ever go back to this Melting Pot again. read more

I came here for desserts with my boyfriend for date night. This was definitely on the pricey side but you also pay for the experience. I like how the booths are sectioned accordingly so you do not see the other diners and it gives more privacy. The waitresses suggested the chocolate smores for our chocolate fondue so that is exactly what we got. It was like a mini show when the waitress lit our chocolate on fire. It came with a plate of fruits and cake. It tasted heavenly... I mean, how can it not, you're dipping fruits in warm chocolate melted with marshmallow. Also, thanks to Yelp check in, we redeemed the Sweet Additions plate and got a slice of Blueberry Cheesecake. Can't complain, my taste buds were satisfied and grateful. read more

Our third time at The Melting Pot!!!! We really missed the downtown location (they closed it few years ago). This north location is a bit far from our house but it is still worth it! We liked everything, from the salad to tenderloin, chicken and shrimp. I don't know what it is, but my husband and I really enjoyed the idea of cooking our own food. Hahah that is our reason for going to this restaurant. Don't get me wrong, the meal prices at this place is very high but I guess you pay for the experience. We love to sit down, talk while cooking our protein and veggies and enjoy the intimate fine dining setting. Only cons is the wait time. And for that, I am giving this business a 3 star instead of a 4 star! We had a reservation for 8:15pm but didn't get our table and sit down till 9:20pm. That is crazy! Ok. I have been hearing a lot about The Melting Pot in my life time. Always want to go there one day. Because of that, my girlfriend surprised me on the valentine's day today.. Sweet of her. When we got there, first thing in my mind is "interior design is off, hope food isn't". Unfortunately, the food is. Especially with the fact that it's frigging $165. But the waitress was absolutely great. Extremely friendly. Any restaurants would be fortunate to have her. Bottom line, Austin local restaurants' food gave us a lot of great experiences which put the melting pot 10 or 15 years in behind. For 29.95/person, we got a cheese fondue, salad, entree (Land and Sea), and a chocolate fondue. We picked the spinach and artichoke cheese fondue, it was yummy like always. For our entree, we went with mojo. Its tangy and delicious. Dulce de Leche for our chocolate. They were a bit skimpy on our caramel. :( Overall, it was great. We started with some Chardonnay and the fiesta cheese fondue (spicy peppers, chilantro and cheese). It was horrible, I had a few bites and gave up cause my taste buds couldn't handle it. The combination did not go well together at all. some raw veggies, bread (white and wheat), and some green granny apple bites. Bread was stale. We also added a $3.50 premier plate that came with some sausages and hams. There, that was a one star starter. We had a classic and a fusion for entrees. Lobster and shrimps did not taste fresh at all. Duck tasted terrible with some very raw bloody taste. Sauces were nothing special but made things worse. Cheap ginger Asian sauce, blue cheese, and some other sauces that made things very heavy. The soup base-coq an vin was not good either, supposedly divine wine flavor? And there was another $5 wasted. Desserts were alright. We had a flaming turtle, really just some milk chocolate with a handful of nuts. Desserts dip were good ( marshmallows, pound cake, strawberries, pineapples, brownies). $17? Nothing great either. However we were given some free champagne for celebrating graduating. That was a sweet and nice present. Long story short... Not good. Like, not at all good. Like, the worst service & meal I've ever had. If you want the story, here it is. We walk in about 10 minutes early for a 6:30 reservation & the place is D E A D. I chalked it up to COVID & we went in. We were greeted by the host & she said it would be closer to our reservation time, so we grabbed a seat at the bar. We sat for several minutes before anyone even came back behind the bar. Several people walked by, including a manager... nooo one said anything to us. Finally a girl comes out & says, "How can I help you." Didn't offer new a menu, say hi, or anything just, "How can I help you." I had to awkwardly ask for said wine menu, which took her several minutes to locate... After perusing the wine menu & being told it's by the bottle only, I ordered a Long Island. My husband ordered a double knob creek (bourbon) neat. This girl looks right at me and says, "I'm new, and I don't actually know how to make a Long Island." And then she just stood there... like I was supposed to tell her how to make the $15 drink I just asked for... Okay, nope, never mind, I'll take a vodka cran. She gives me my drink with no straw, no garnish, & she served my husband a very small double - wait for it - rye. Not bourbon. Drink order trashed. Nbd, and since we are both understanding people & have been the new guy before, we happily enjoyed our first drink out in 6 months. The manager then came over & was SHOUTING over the bar at the bartender & the hostess, about how something wasn't done or put away properly... My husband and I were trying to talk at the bar and I literally had to stop talking & look at her because it was SO obnoxious. Like, go have that convo somewhere else! Dinner was an absolute disaster. Being newbies & not having anything explained to us, we went with the 4 course. The appetizer was disgusting. It's basically some stale bread & raw veggies you dip in melted cheese. I ran out of water about half way through the appetizer & it was never refilled. The main course (bigger night out, for 2) was maybe a whole 12 oz of meat + lobster. Did I mention I was out of water? I wasn't even bothering with the bar again. But even if I wanted to, NO ONE ever came back after dinner was dropped off. For FOURTY FIVE minutes. My husband even got up & went looking for someone & he said he couldn't find any servers. Even the hostess was gone from up front. Dinner was dropped off around 7:10. They didn't come take our selection for dessert until almost 7:55. It then took another THIRTY minutes to get dessert. Because of the delay, we asked for the bill with our dessert, as we needed to get going. The server said she was doing contactless pay, & she needed to go get some kind of tablet for us to check out. So we ate our dessert & waited for the tablet... Another 20 minutes after we were done with dessert & after not having a drink our entire meal, I had enough. We had to walk up & get the hostess to check us out, because we still didn't have the tablet thingy. So as we are finally about to get out of there, the server comes up and tells us about how busy she's been all night, & thanked us for not leaving, but she went on and on about all the issues the restaurant was having. Instead of just closing us out quickly, she made it super freaking awkward!! As a guest, on her first date night out in 6 months, who just sat through an entire meal I pretty much cooked myself with no drink that I paid over $100 for, I wanted to tell her, "Stop making your problems my problems." But, I smiled politely instead. No, I would not recommend this restaurant. And I'm usually all for 2nd chances but this first experience was so bad I can't say I'll ever go again. This nifty but contrived high maintenance chain does not disappoint in terms of flavor or participation, but man oh man I do not have the patience. After waiting for our entire party due to the drill Sergeants at the hostess stand, a friendly waiter came to our table, after about 10 minutes, and told us to put on our seatbelts, because it was going to be a bumpy night. We never understood what that was supposed to mean. What he should have said was that if we had plans, cancel them, because our meal was going to last FOUR HOURS. I just can't sit anywhere that long, let alone a restaurant so far north I felt I was just outside Dallas. We did enjoy ourselves. The process, albeit painfully slow, was fun, got to know some new peeps, but staring at my watch for the tenth time, enough was enough. A restaurant shouldn't feel like a stint in jail, especially a life sentence, and an expensive one at that. They DO let you come in and just do dessert fondue, which would almost be worth it if it wasn't so far north. Back in the day Melting pot was considered an upscale date night hot spot. I got the chance to go with my wife for a nice night out. Was greeted with what's up fellas from the waiter. I said my wife is not a fella :). Waiter was not very attentive. Food was just ok. Not to the standard of the price. When food arrived he asked if there was any questions. I said yes please explain the cooking. He said yep look at the thing on the table. Kind of weird. Why even ask. Also the food taste like it was pre prepped, meaning tasted like they had the cheese already going as an example ready before you order. It was kind of odd. Felt like and tasted like mass produced cafeteria kind of thing. Overall it's ok, but not worth the cost. Save your money or go to a nice steak house. We went to melting pot last night for my birthday and it was amazing! The customer service alone is worth the five stars. We were seated in the "lovers corner," which has small intimate booths for a two-person party. The server was knowledgeable and attentive despite how busy it was and the manager brought over surprise champagne glasses - awesome! They also gave me a bottle of their delicious garlic and wine seasoning for my birthday! They have different celebratory add ons you could ask for including flowers, balloon bouquet, champagne flutes, etc. ALL of the food was very good. The entrees were the star of the show for me and dessert was amazing. Will definitely be back for more milestone celebrations. read more

We came to the Melting Pot during Austin's Restaurant week for dinner. The menu for the Austin's Restaurant Week included a cheese appetizer, an assortment of meats for the entre, and a choice of chocolates for the dessert for $37 per person. We got the swiss cheese fondue for an appetizer and LOVED it! So yummy! The entre was not that great and was really small. Nothing to write home about. FOR DESSERT: Omg the bananas foster was SUPERB!!!! If we ever come back here, it will be for the dessert! We dipped sliced strawberries, graham cracker covered marshmallows, banana slices, rice crispies, cheesecake, and little brownies into liquid heaven. Service = WTF NOT GOOD. Our server was friendly, but waiting 40 minutes for our entre is a tad ridiculous. If we're paying close to $100 for dinner on a Wednesday night, it's not too much to ask that we get our meal in a timely manner. I absolutely love this place! We grew up on Fondu at home, and loved it. Now we can go to The Melting Pot to get the full four course experience. We went last night for my Birthday and gosh they made me feel like a Queen. I received balloons, take home chocolate, glass of champagne in addition to our dinner. We got the diner for two, The Alpine Cheese with the secret shot of special sherry, The Pacific Rim and Create your Own, with Mojo broth, and the Turtle flambé. I really enjoyed going here. It was my girlfriend and I's first time, and it was a lot of fun. The food was good and the whole experience was awesome. There were a couple of things that were off putting and one downright horrifying. I ordered a beer when our server came by and I expected them to check my ID right after I ordered but that didn't happen. When they brought the beer, I still wasn't asked to show ID. This was troubling to me, because it seemed like anyone could come in and order a beer here and get it as long as they look old enough. And I frankly don't think I look around 21 even though I am. The wait staff need to be trained to check ID's every single time someone orders a drink. Second when it came time to pay, they brought the card reader tablet and they set up the transaction. My server had already selected the 25% tip, now I had been planning on tipping 25% but I saw that and I immediately moved down to 20%. I get tipping waitstaff is important but when they select it themselves and then expect you to pay the highest tip because they chose it before hand that is so uncool. Again I am all for tipping a lot, but not when it's forced in my face like that. read more

Been a few years since I have been here but I will definitely be returning for a wonderful evening. Every aspect was fantastic from the beginning course of cheese to the end with chocolate. The entrees from the Surf and Turf to the Asian cuisine. Joe showed us how to bread the meats and showed us which sauces paired the best. I was very disappointed with our first visit to The Meltong Pot. I made a reservation for our date,l and when we arrived, we were seated at a booth next to the restrooms. I was literally facing the men's room from my booth, not my idea of a romantic date night. I'd expect with reservations, we'd have a nicer seating. Our server was Dakota. We ordered the Wisconsin classic cheese and could only taste garlic. I'm a garlic lover, but this was extremely over powering. When I complained to the server, he added more wine and cheese to our pot which made it taste a little less than garlic but still subpar. The entree was yuck, all of it. We ordered the pick your own entree: natural chicken, Cajun shrimp, terayki sirloin, and veggie potstickers with the Coq au Vin broth. We both hated it and had upset stomachs all night after eating. I ordered a sangria and all I could taste was alcohol, it was over powering. When the server brought out check he said "I only charged you for one cheese because you didnt like it very much." Clearly, we only ordered one cheese, he had to add more cheese to make it tolerable. What else should I expect? It was way to expensive for the service, food, and overall ambience was lacking. Great service. Good food. Was expecting better atmosphere though but all in all a pretty dang good experience. Will definitely be returning. I had the four-course meal with the Alpine cheese fondue. The Alpine is a classic fondue dish just what I expected it to be the apples were the best Dipper for this dish. The breads were delicious as well as the veggies. Next course was the salad and I had the California salad with the blue cheese and candied pecans. It was very delicious and the sweet vinaigrette complemented well with the blue cheese and the field greens. The protein course I had the Land and Sea which comprised of filet mignon, season chicken, and shrimp. The chicken was a little overly seasoned but other than that it was delicious and the shrimp was by far my favorite. You also get broccoli and mushrooms and sliced red potatoes. I can see now why people usually order extra mushrooms..... definitely delicious. The protein course also came with a variety of sauces and they were all delicious. I am generally not a fan of Curry but their curry sauce was pretty dang good my daughter loved the orange sauce. There was a lot of selections for dessert and after careful consideration we chose the flaming Turtle fondue which was milk chocolate and caramel and those delicious candied pecans. I was lucky enough to have a coupon from Yelp to have a free dipper plate so along with the dippers that originally come with it we received an additional plate of dippers which was comprised of fresh blackberries and raspberries with cream puffs and cheesecake. This was probably my favorite of all the courses. Yes I agree along with some of the other reviews that the amount of chocolate was small yet you don't need a lot and it was very filling for two of us in fact I believe we had a couple tablespoons leftover of chocolate we were so full. The strawberries all the berries were fresh and in season and definitely the best dippers. They have a huge variety of drinks as well and other selections on the menu I would love to try. I think this place is overrated and overpriced. The food is good don't get me wrong, but I go out to eat b/c I'm too lazy to cook. So why do I want to sit there and time how long each item takes to cook. We asked the waiter if they had a timer, but he gave us a weird look and said "use your phone" Plus I got sick that night. I don't know if it was from all the different oils and sauces, but I avoid this place now except when I need to buy more of their garlic and wine seasoning. My first experience here was snobby waitress in a hurry to get our orders. Didn't want to explain the process but, she did. We did the whole experience for 2 and our 2 friends did also and let me tell you!! I could've skipped all that and went straight for the dessert! Its the only thing that was good! Hidden fees that the waitress also failed to mention! Really bad lighting so it was already hard to see the menu. This place is way overly priced and the booth seats basically felt like they were falling in.. my experience unfortunately wasn't a good one but, if I'm craving chocolate after I go somewhere else to eat then this would be a fun place for that....too bad I feel like we just threw our money in the wind cause we sure didn't get our moneys worth! I feel like they need to talk to the waitresses about their attitudes. Maybe its just a covid thing but, they should be greatful they have a job and customers!! read more

DON'T EAT HERE!!! I had the worst service when I came in to Melting Pot with my date. The server (whatever there name was because she forgot to say) took 25 mins to take our first order than over 30 mins to come back and get the rest of it. By this time we were over the waiting plus the server forgot what drinks we wanted two times and refilled ours cups with the wrong drinks. When the main course came in the meat look like it was days old and girl said 'That's what it should look like.' (!!!) The only good part was leaving. They are way to overpriced for the horrible service and food. I will gladly never eat here again!! read more

Everything was great till we got the bill. Soda refills are not included and we were jammed for 11 diet cokes! $2.50 each. Is it really necessary to charge for soda when they are charging what they do for food? Ridiculous! read more

We have been regulars (averaging every 8 weeks) for 10 plus years at this location and our visit on 12/23 was truly horrific and just might be our last. For starters, our waiter was not personable and for anyone that knows about the Melting Pot experience, having this is key. We always have a party of 3 and reserve a double burner table to get two kinds of cheese and dessert. We ordered our two cheeses and at that time I also asked for three hard boiled eggs. The waiter came back and told us that the manager, Becca, said the eggs are for salad and I wasn't allowed to have them (I was ordering salad anyway next) and that we aren't allowed to pick two cheeses with out paying for 4 servings. Very nit picky but moving on. We're finishing up our cheese but still have a 1/4 serving in one pot and instead of offering us extra dippers or asking if we are finished, he just takes the pots away. Uh, we're paying $50 bucks for that cheese. Pretty turned off at this point but trying to remain positive since we're celebrating Christmas. Time to order salads so at that time I again said I wanted three hard boiled eggs. Our salad arrives and he brings me ONE egg. Come on. I'm happy to pay for the eggs. Just bring me what I ask for! Never got the other two eggs. More on the eggs later..Then we ordered our entrees, two big night outs and a lobster tail. My husband asks to exchange his sirloin for mushroom raviolis instead. The waiter goes away again and comes back to say you can't exchange steak for raviolis. We just laughed because seriously?!? We're asking for pasta instead of steak. Do the math, haha. Then we get to dessert and ordered the cookies and cream which we often do. It was not the same. It tasted mostly like dark chocolate..think he left the flame go too long also. It did not have the creamy marshmallow texture that it usually does. In fact, any cream/marshmallow flavor was non-existent. It was not good and we barely ate any of it. No extra dippers were offered but that was fine because the chocolate wasn't made correctly. Still the principle of it. Servers should always ask if more dippers are needed! Through out our meal, it was also very difficult to get refills. We always had to ask. And finally for the kicker, I get the check and am charged for three hard boiled eggs. I was pretty floored and just gave up and paid. I'll add that we came at noon and there was hardly anyone there so really no excuse for the lousy service. Very disappointed overall because this is our favorite restaurant but after this experience I'm really questioning if we will ever go back. This Melting Pot really made me miss the downtown location that is now closed. Because of that, this review is going to sound negative and I feel bad about that because I really do like the Melting Pot. I didn't completely dislike my experience food was good, the people were nice, but it was obvious I was eating in a chain restaurant. The downtown Melting Pot didn't feel that way. The tables here are not private which was kind of disappointing. I don't want to see a 12 year old's birthday party, I don't want to overhear a bachelorette party. The lack of privacy ruins the ambiance. The waitress was really friendly in sort of a joking around, being silly and awkward kind of way and I assume that works with their suburban family crowd. If I was at Chili's I would be down with it, but I don't want to act goofy with the waitress when I'm trying to feel classy at a kind of expensive fondue place. I'll end on a positive note and say the food was just as good as I remembered and also just as plentiful. I had the Cheddar Cheese and beer fondue and it was delicious. The Classic fondue is still my favorite though! I know I'll be back again despite my complaints because the food is worth it. read more

So great! My boyfriend took me here on a date and everyone from the hostess to our server were absolutely key components into making it a great night! We got to our table and there were roses set up and I was blown away. Their Love Martini is a MUST and all in all, it's just plain fun to dip food into other food.
