Celebrated my birthday at the melting pot this year. The layout of the restaurant seating is primarily private booths (with romantic low lighting) conducive to adhering to social distancing protocols. We got the 4 course "Bigger Night Out" for 2. We got to pick from the cheese fondues & we went with the Wisconsin Cheddar which included Sam Adams beer as part of the cheese fondue base. I almost forgot to take a picture before the cheese was completely gone - I loved the sour apple & cheddar contrast - the other items for dipping were delish - the small pretzel bites my favorite of the small bread bits. Carrots & broccoli were good fillers :) I had the strawberry pecan salad which had feta & candied pecans & a tangy dressing. I could have eaten more of the salad. My husband got the Caesar salad which he liked but was surprised to find candied pecans (maybe an accident?) For the main entree we selected the coq au vin cooking base - which is a signature cooking base & the Bigger dinner for 2: shrimp, salmon, lobster, 2 kinds of steak, chicken & mushroom tortellini. There are 6 dips that accompany the entree: cocktail sauce (delish but a little thick), Gorgonzola dip, plum sauce, mustardy/curry sauce, sour cream & dill, & a sweeter chili sauce. In the future, I think we'll get an entree without chicken - the chicken takes a while to cook. I would have loved more of the mushroom tortellini - when you look at it, you may think "I'll never get full... we were stuffed! This is a 3 hr dinner. Come with people you really like to talk to and can talk for 3 hrs! Fair warning. Second warning, you are paying to cook your own food for 3 hrs. It's still a 5 star experience for me and my best friends. We've been coming here for years and always had a great time! Food is always on point. I prefer the entree and dessert fondues. I can skip the cheese fondue but my friends like it so we get all three fondues every time. They have salads too. It's a fun experience with delicious food and good service. The last time we went, we chose the vegetarian entree option and it was probably the best we've had. The wild mushroom saccheti(?) was devine, we ordered an extra side of it. The rest of the veggies were also good, we finish everything! There are complementary sauces for each cooked entree items. The servers will let you know which goes best with each other. The mojo is my personal favorite broth. I didn't eat dessert until I had the chocolate fondue here. We had already chosen everything by the time we saw her. Come to find out, she was training another server and that might have slowed her down. From that point on, service was great. We selected the four course dinner for two times two. It comes with a cheese fondue that you can dip veggies, fruit and bread in. We selected the Alpine and Wisconsin cheddar fondues. So good!!!! My Grandma and I had the best time at The Melting Pot. We hadn't seen each other in a while and we were celebrating me moving back home. Our server, Delaney, was so much fun. She was so attentive and so kind. She would chat with us for a bit, even when she probably had a lot of other things to do, which was really nice. She really made our experience wonderful. The food was amazing as well. We had the Fondue with the pesto in it (highly recommend), the mojo broth, and the Flaming Turtle desert. My boyfriend and I made a reservation for our three year anniversary and asked for a two cook top table and to reserve six signature chocolate covered strawberries in the special requests. They accommodated our request and sat us at a six person booth because it had two cook tops, that way we could each order our own fondue flavors. The interior of the restaurant was nice, but I thought a bit outdated. Jonni, our friendly server, explained how Melting Pot worked, gave us recommendations, and answered any questions that we had. A couple of our fondue dipping sticks still had food residue that was not properly washed off. We ordered a Quattro Formaggi cheese fondue that was good, and a spinach artichoke fondue that was to die for! Jonni checked on us frequently and accommodated our requests. The pinenuts in our Caesar salad was the star and saving grace of the dish. We chose a cast-iron grill and the mojo for our entree cooking styles. The cast-iron grill worked well for our meats as we followed the provided cooking times, but the mojo left our food tasting excessively citrusy. The housemade dipping sauces were decent, but I didn't find myself using them. Instead, I eagerly dipped all of my proteins in the garlic and wine seasoning Jonni brought us. I liked it so much that I even considered paying the $7 to buy a bottle. Halfway through eating our entrées, we started getting extremely full, thus we were not able to finish our delectable yin and yang and flaming turtle chocolate fondues since we were eating so much over the period of two full hours that we were in the restaurant. We waited a while for our check to come, and Jonni brought out signature chocolate covered strawberries that we requested in our reservation notes. This is one of our favorite date night spots. The meal is coarsed out enough for you to spend 3 hours there and truly enjoy the company you're with. We usually do the four courses, with a salad. However in the past they used to do a pretty good happy hour where you could pick from cheese or chocolate. We went for my husband's birthday this December and had a wonderful experience as always. The service is excellent and they're very attentive to you. We always go with the classic Alpine fondue as we have tried many others but that is our favorite. I'm more of a seafood lover and my husband is a meat lover. Here you cook your own meals and you get to pick what you're actually going to eat. I always add a lobster tail which is an upcharge but worth it for me. We usually come here to celebrate birthdays or anniversaries and they're always so generous to us. We normally get complimentary sparkling wine this time we did not but nothing to be totally upset about. I've had better cocktails however so I don't recommend this Mai Tai but the wine selection is always very large and they have added other types of martinis that I will definitely try next time. After eating our salads we decided on two cooking styles for our proteins. We chose mojo and bourguignonne. The mojo was a broth based style and the bourguignonne was an oil. We could tell those differences in how long it took to cook all of our meats in the pot. I enjoyed the bourguignonne style and Melting Pot's garlic and wine seasoning was delicious! It was fun trying to figure out if our meats were cooked enough and some of us downloaded the fondue timer. That way we knew if we left our skewer in the pot for too long or too short (undercooked). Cheese isn't really my thing, but coming here was definitely a fun experience. We have been visiting a Melting Pot for Valentine's Day since our first experience in Florida in 1983. We have visited locations in Arizona, Florida and Texas. We have visited this location in Austin now for several years and each year it seems more disappointing! This is our once a year go to place and we have always looked forward to it! We remember when you use to get souvenir champagne glasses with the Valentines visit and we have a shelf in our pantry with several pairs. We remember when you got a piece of cheesecake with the chocolate and watched it over the years get cut into a smaller slice until eventually it just disappeared! We have watched the boiled eggs disappear on the salads to where now you barely even get a piece. This year we got 2 mushrooms each and 2 tiny wrinkled up potatoes. Our waitress never offered us any additional mushrooms or potatoes. We also ask for some additional Green Goddess right away but it never came but we really didn't need it since we didn't have but 2 mushrooms each. Our fish was the worst ever with an overwhelming strong fish smell and taste. We eat fish several times a week at home and know that fish shouldn't smell that way. We also noticed that on the dippers for the chocolate instead of 2 marshmallows each we only got one and the other was replaced with some kind of day old tasteless cake. First I want to start off by saying do NOT eat at this restaurant! Not only were we sat at a table waiting a long time without drinks or even an order put in. Once we got to the bottom of our cheese fondue we saw a BUG had been cooking in our fondue the whole time. Once we brought this up to the waitress we showed her the bug and even pointed out its antennas and legs. Not only did the waitress admit it was a bug at the table she took the pot away immediately so I couldn't show the manager. Once the manager came to our table she tried to tell us it was a "potato skin." For example there is a potato skin to the left of the bug which doesn't look the same (or have legs.) After telling us it's a potato skin she offered to take off just the price of the cheese fondue. When I brought up that I had taken pictures and videos of the bug her whole tone changed and she was VERY rude and ended up saying she would take everything off the bill and that WE can leave. Not only is the service bad but the place is disgusting if you can't tell by the literal bug in the food. He stared at me and goes to the back. He gives me a 15 dollar refund which is laughable but I could tell he didn't want to be bothered with me and would much rather just lose a customer and make money. Oh queso, I'm going to keep this review as least cheesy as possible. I think it's a gouda idea, don't worry I'll keep it brie-f. But in seriousness...woo what an experience. Came here to celebrate a friends birthday party and it was quite unique, different, and most of all enjoyable. The experience for a party of 4 or more can last up to 4 hours, so be prepared for a long dining experience, smaller parties probably won't take as long. This was my first time trying a fondue place before and my friends and I did the whole 4 course meal. First they start you off with bread and of course cheese in a melting pot. Pretty simple start, you get to choose which cheese you'd like as well. Next comes up salad, another simple part that you choose ha. Now here comes the real experience. Your main entree comes from a variety of courses that seem pretty familiar from what you'd find at other high end restaurants. The twist though is that you choose what kind of cooking style you want to dip your entree in since all servings come out raw. You can choose from either oily or broth like cooking styles. Sounds simple on paper but when you actually get to enjoy it with others it can become quite the bonding experience, kind of like cooking together while only using one dish, since everyone needs to cook their own food. This was for sure the highlight of my time there, I ended up getting the surf and turf while my friends enjoyed others like the meat lovers, but any course you can't go wrong with since it'll all be cooked by you. Last but certainly not least came the chocolate fondue! Oh soooo good, and great way to end it since food dipped in chocolate doesn't have to sit to be cooked. I have always enjoyed the melting pot whenever I visit. However, even though the menu is the same for the most part either different locations, there is certainly a difference and service depending on where you go. For example, I have been to the melting pot and Florham Park New Jersey, Bethlehem Pennsylvania, Sacramento California and now Austin Texas. I would say that the Austin location is my least favorite, because they give you the least amount of cheese and chocolate for dessert. Also, the staff is not nearly as helpful or friendly as in the other melting pot locations. We still had a fun night out because we enjoy fondue and each other, but the Austin location could definitely use some improvement in the areas mentioned above read more

Pleasant surprise to realize this place was actually a famous chain with top notch food. Everything is a dipping thing. Came here for our anniversary and was not disappointed! We weren't really sure what to expect as this was our first time, but our waiter was so patient and provided such great service. There are four rounds: cheese, salad, entree, dessert. For the cheese round, they bring out breads and veggies to dip into your choice of cheese. Salad: they offer a few selections. We got the caesar salad and Californian. For entree, you pick up to four meats/person and how you'll want to cook it. For dessert, you choose a type of chocolate and they bring out fruits and other treats! There's plenty of parking. Great ambiance. 10/10 date night idea and really fun. If we were to come again, we'd probably only get a dessert round as we were stuffed after all four courses! read more

It was my first time coming to the chain and I felt that the waitress could have done a better job providing details about the menu and how everything worked. She wasn't attentive at all, to the point when I was cooking my main course I had to figure out how to turn off the stove top on my own. Loved this whole experience. The server melts everything in front of you in a pot on your table and the dipping items are refillable (things like bread, vegetables, fruits, and sweet treats for dessert). Such a fun thing to do and a bit different from the norm. It's obviously a little expensive for what it is but I think you're paying for that experience of something different.
