We visited last night to celebrate my son's birthday. We had Amanda as our server. From the greeter, our own server, and the additional staff who ensured that our drinks were full and our table was frequently (though not intrusively) tidied, our experience was excellent. Amanda truly went above and beyond explaining the process, making suggestions, and treating us with extraordinary kindness and connection (even with our kiddos). The food was delicious, we chose the Wisconsin cheddar and Quattro Formaggio. We had a variety of salads that were wonderful. The Pacific Rim was a popular choice at our table and we chose both the Court Bouillon and Bourguignonne as our cooking styles. Amanda frequently checked in with us and was accessible. For dessert, we chose the flaming turtle and the s'mores. Amanda added a special touch by giving the birthday boy his own plate with a happy birthday message (and singing!). The restaurant itself is lovely with low lighting and comfortable seating (we were a party of five at a round table). Love the melting pot! I do miss the old location with how dark, and romantic it was. The new location has more of a family appeal. I haven't been for a year or two, some noticeable changes were they did not mix the ingredients for the cheese in front of us but brought it prepared and somewhat cold and we waited for it to heat up. The celery can be thrown in the trash ?! Who wants to eat celery lol but maybe some people like it but not our table. Service was absolutely excellent!! Loved the new table top grill and the fact our waitress brought a slice of cake with a happy birthday on it for my daughters birthday made our dinner extra special! Visited here with my partner for my birthday. He made reservations ahead of time, so we only waited 5 minutes or so for our table. The waiting area is a bit small and cramped but if you made a reservation, you won't wait long. There's also a nice bar area to grab a drink before you're seated. The inside is beautiful - modern & clean, with lower lighting and comfortable, spacious seating. Though we shared a booth with another couple, there was a partition between us and we did not feel like we were dining on top of them. Since my birthday is 2/13, we were able to take advantage of the Cupid's Combo. We ordered the Quattro Formaggio cheese fondue, both got house salads, mojo-style cooking, with s'mores chocolate fondue for dessert! The Quattro Formaggio was delicious and melt, though we did notice a slightly sharp/bitter aftertaste, almost chemical-ly, and wondered if the basil oil was a bit too bitter. We enjoyed the variety of breads, celery, carrot, broccoli, and apples to dip in. The side salads were fresh and delicious, and a welcome course after the heavy cheese. The entree was plentiful and delicious - we each had 2 cheese raviolis, 3 seasoned scallop bites, 3 large shrimp, 5 pieces of marinated Cajun-y marinated chicken, 4 pieces of filet, and 4 pieces of teriyaki sirloin. They provided a flight of different sauces, all of which were tasty and went well with the meal. I just would have liked to see something to go with the ravioli- a pesto, marinara, or Alfredo would have worked fine. There was also a bowl of whole white mushrooms, potatoes, and broccoli florets as a side dish. Here's where I struggle. This was an AWESOME experience. Our waitress was very detailed in explaining how long to cook our food and the best combos with the sauces. We threw a few pieces of vegetables in every so often, but we were eating one piece of meat every few minutes. We also had a phone timer out for some of the items (chicken and scallops) to make sure they were cooked correctly. It was a lot of work to keep on top of everything while trying to have conversation and such! The s'mores dessert was heavenly. I would 100% recommend this item for anyone who enjoys the campfire treat. They provided us with a large flight of pound cake, brownies, strawberries, pineapple, waffles, bananas, chocolate covered marshmallows, and rice marshmallow treats. This was definitely hands down the best part of the meal (and I'm not even a huge dessert person typically). Like I said, this is a VERY fun and unique dining experience. If you are able to visit near a major holiday, like Valentine's Day or NYE, you'll get the best deal because this is when they offer really great dining packages. For a first date, double date, an anniversary, a birthday, or congratulating a job promotion, this is your place! Not sure what to do on a Tuesday night after a long day? I wouldn't personally choose here. This is also the type of place where I would come with a few girlfriends to share some cheese/chocolate fondue and cocktails! I would definitely give this place a go. My husband took me here for my birthday. I was excited to try it! We made reservations and was told the outdoor area was heated and comfortable. It was not. Our server assured us when we sat down that they just turned the heaters on and it would "feel like a sauna very soon", it did not. If we would have known the extent of the cold/wind that we experienced, we would have initially left, or sat at the bar. We ate our dinner with coats and hats. The fire alarm was going off for over 10 minutes, along with the flashing lights. The staff continued on like business as usual. There were no apologies or explanations for the inconvenience that it caused. It was a real disruption to our evening. They could have at least offered a discount for the meals for those that it was an inconvenient situation for. I really enjoyed trying out the new location in Station Square. It's actually a big improvement from their last location. It's very inviting and the interior is more modern. I order the four course experience every time. I like how spaced out each course is and that it is truly an experience. I always order the filet, shrimp and add a lobster tail. The dipping sauces are all really tasty to. The dessert fondue is always the real show stopper. My favorite is the flamingo turtle. A truly unique dining experiance! Who doesn't love melted cheese and chocolate? I have been coming here for a few years and always have a great experiance. They recently moved across the street and have an updated style. It is a lot less romantic, dark, cozy, ect and more like most other restaurants now. Some of the booth seats are split with a small piece of glass between them, which is a little weird, but It does look like It would make expanding the table easier. They do also have an outdoor patio which is heated when it is cooler. Staff is always friendly and good! They now make the cheese in the back and bring it out, instead of at your table,however everything else is made at your table still! I usually come here and only get cheese, salad, and dessert. Our waitress was wonderful - she helped to thoroughly explain the menu, answer any questions we had, etc. She was attentive and always around for refills. The Melting Pot is a great place to take a date or even have a double date. I've been here three different times and each time was as great as the last. The food here is always on point and service is excellent. I suggest you do the 4 course tasting dinner for two which I think comes out to about $100 as a total for two. They start you off with the cheese fondue which you can choose from about 6 different types. My personal favorite is the Quattro Formaggio. They bring out apples, carrots, different types of bread all to be dipped in the cheese which sits on a burner in the middle of the table. Next Is the salad, the strawberry one is sooo good it has candied pecans on it to dye for. I think they also sell their dressing too if you wanted to buy some for home. After salads the entree is brought out. Normally I do the pick 4 and pick 4 different things which range from chicken, shrimp, raviolis, steak, and lobster. They also bring a bowl of vegetables out with potatoes, broccoli, and mushrooms to cook. To dip all that in yoh get about 8 different sauces which are all amazing. You pick your cooking liquid also or you can do cast iron. I do not recommend the cast iron as a lot of the stuff can't be cooked well on it. After all that comes my favorite part desert. They have a bunch of options to choose from and a really cool thing that a lot of people don't know is you can change any of the styles of chocolate to whatever chocolate you want. For example I like the turtle chocolate which comes with milk chocolate but I sub dark chocolate. It is amazing. The banana fosters is also really good they set it on fire and use real bananas. Along with the chocolate you get a board of brownies, cheesecake, marshmallows, fruit, and cookies. Also!! Don't forget to add a wine flight it's only $20 and a glass of wine is paired with each course! Overall I highly recommend this place for a date night. January 2021. Surprising great dining experience! New location in Station Square (old location was so dated). Ambiance is new and hip decorated with cool photographs of Pittsburgh. Saturday night reservations at 8pm with our good friends that we always go out with for dinner. We arrived and immediately sat. We ordered a round of drinks and it took about 10 minutes to get them since there was a table of 8 that ordered strawberry daiquiris before us. Our server had a lot of personality. His name was Garret. He was very informative. We really liked him. For those that have never been before (which was us...at least for a very long time) the ordering experience can be a little confusing and overwhelming. Between choosing cheeses and meats, cooking sauces and dessert . 10 minutes after ordering a server dropped a plate with food that shattered and landed on my foot. Immediately we were approached by the manager who bought us our first round. The food is served in a very fun way that makes you work for the reward. Keeps the night interactive and fun. We ordered a smorgasbord of different meats and veggies for our main course (lobster, filet, salmon etc.). The meat is served raw and cooked in the boiling flavored stock. It was excellent! Surprisingly the salmon was the best in my eyes and I am not a salmon fan. Finally dessert was served. At this point we were stuffed but liquid chocolate and all the choices to dip in the chocolate was something we couldn't pass up. There were, cookies, brownies, rice crispy treats, fruit etc. Sad to say that we found a hair in one of the desserts but it was corrected immediately. Definitely a very interesting and unique experience for dinner. I was impressed with how elaborate the meal process is and how much control you have with your order. We started with the cheese course with Fiesta and Spinach Artichoke. The spinach artichoke was the table favorite but the bread, veggies, chips, and apples also went very well with the fiesta cheese dip. For the second course we ordered salads. I got the Caeser Salad, it was good, nothing impressive or different from what I could have made myself quickly at home. Next was the entree, which I chose to build my own and got the dry rub pork, teriyaki beef, and Cajun filet. For 2 of our broths we got the regular, but we also ordered mojo broth to try. They gave us a bunch of different sauces for the whole table to drip out meats in; also provided recommendations of which went best with what meat. The meat was great, I liked having the control of how well done it was and I got to mix up what sauce to pour on it and discover the best combination. I preferred the regular broth over the mojo, and my beef over pork. Everything was very good though! Cooking the meat involved some coordination with 10 people and we had some meat come off the stick, but we were able to scoop them out with the rescue spoon provided. Lastly, dessert, by far my favorite part of the meal. We ordered the Flaming Turtle, Cookies and Cream, and Milk Chocolate. Cookies and Cream was delicious! Everything I dipped in there, from brownies to fruit, to waffles, was extremely good and I wanted more. It was a fun experience and I recommend people go at least once. Our waitress was very attentive and accommodating. Some of us had allergies and he made sure we were safely eating with every new course and sauce. If you come here, I recommend making a reservation. The Melting Pot is one of my favorite eating experiences I have ever had. It is different than any other meal you will have. Because it is more of an experience than a quick meal, make sure you have 2 hours or so to spend here. It is tough to get out in any less time for dinner. For the starting portion of the meal I always do the Wisconsin cheddar fondue. It pairs great with the breads, fruits, and veggies they serve with it. I would like to try the bacon jalapeño and some of there other options, but the standard cheddar is tough to pass up. For the main fondue I have had the classic and the steak lovers. Both are great. The staff is always very helpful in explaining how long to keep the meat in depending on if you want it medium rare, medium, etc. The filet medium rare is amazing! For the desert fondue I have had the original chocolate and the s'mores. I like the s'mores a little better, but the original is great as well. Some items they give you don't seem like they would pair well with the desert, but they know what they are doing so give everything a try. read more

I haven't been to the melting pot since it was inside the mall at Station Square and I'll never ever go back. We visited this evening for the Galentine's Day special and the quality and quantity of food were an absolute joke for the price. I'm perfectly fine and happy paying for delicious food. I'm even okay with small portions as long it's high quality food. Ridiculously expensive, small portioned, inedible food? Um no. We received 1 small board of dippers for our 2 pots of cheese. Like literally what i'd expect to be a single serving was expected to be shared by the entire table. There were a couple hunks of apple, a few pieces of carrots and some slimy celery with a handful of bread chunks. We had to ask numerous times for more dippers and I felt like I was asking for extra steak or something... when in reality, we just needed more stale bread. The salad portion was smaller than kids sized salads, but were at least good. The biggest issue was the chocolate fondue. After the small portion sizes thus far in our meal, we went ahead and paid for the extra dessert dippers and honestly, they should be ashamed of serving us what they did. Each of our plates contained a handful of berries. The raspberries were literally rotten and moldy. Not just on the inside so maybe someone missed it, like the entire berry was soft, mushy and black with mold. Not a single raspberry was something I would ever consume. The dipper plates tasted like they were made days ago, plastic wrapped and shoved in a fridge to rot. The cheesecake was congealed and a weird consistency. Everything was stale. The marshmallows were wet. The cookies were soft instead of crispy. The pound cake was damp and soggy. Nothing was fresh and again, the portion sizes. A single strawberry cut into 4 pieces? 2 slices of banana? None of the dippers are particularly costly. None of the dippers are imperative to the meal - can't find good raspberries? Omit them. Don't serve rotting ones. Can't afford to give more than a single strawberry? Find a less expensive fruit. Our server was friendly, but I got the impression he wasn't particularly happy to have us as a table because we didn't get entrees and it felt like we were asking for bread out of his own kitchen cabinet. We didn't see him much and only got drink refills at the end of our meal. The last time I went to the Melting Pot, it was the experience that made it. The server brought shredded cheese, beer, garlic etc. It was a show. We had someone different bring our cheese and it was just kind of flopped down in front of us. There was no "show" and there was no "experience." They didn't want to be there anymore than we wanted to eat our meal. For the money we spent? We could have had a lovely, filling, fresh and flavorful meal at any fine dining establishment in the area and that's how we will spend our money next time. read more

I've been to the melting pot a couple times now and I just love it here! It's such a fun experience when you get the 4 course meal which includes cheese fondue, salad, entree fondue and dessert fondue. It is a lot of food though so definitely come hungry! I've only ever done the 4 course meal but they do have other options which would be less but I think doing all the courses is part of the fun! When you do it this way you choose your type of cheese fondue (served with vegetables, apples and bread for dipping), salad, type of broth to cook or entree and type of dessert fondue. I've honestly never had anything I didn't like, so I don't think you can go wrong! The restaurant is intimate but casual. Reservations recommended but not necessary. They have a delicious cocktail menu as well, my favorite being the white peach cosmo! I've always had excellent servers who are helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. It is a little more expensive, approximately $35-$50 per person depending on what you get. The food had always been fresh, seasoned well and delicious! Well worth it in my opinion. The Melting Pot is such a fun experience and so different than the normal restaurant vibe. When you walk in, you can tell you're in a nice and kind of fancy place, but once you sit down, everything is so interactive that it becomes really so much fun! I highly recommend looking on the website under the events section to find the specials for the month, because each month there are lots of discounts offered. I often use the weekend brunch special that gets you cheese fondue, salad, entree (steak, chicken, shrimp and ravioli), and chocolate fondue all for about $30 a person, which is a pretty good deal for The Melting Pot. Another tip is that if you register on their website a few days before you go, they will send you a special coupon for free chocolate covered strawberries! So yummy! The servers here are very knowledgeable about the entire menu so don't be afraid to ask for suggestions. They will also teach you about the cooking times for each item, so don't worry if you're not quite sure what you're doing before you start. My last piece of advice is that if you get too full for the chocolate fondue portion...which is sadly what sometimes happens to me, you can ask your server or the manager to write you an IOU and you can come back another day to enjoy your chocolate fondue. This is our first meal at the Melting Pot since they've changed locations within Station Square. We were with a group of six for a celebration dinner and chose to sit on the patio. It was a Saturday night, so it was pretty busy. We got drinks at the bar while waiting for our table and the last two members of our party. The patio ended up being a great option because it was pretty noisy inside. The new space is an updated take on the former location. There are more contemporary design elements and a cozy ambience. Groups with kids and couples on dates seemed in equal abundance. We ordered a cheese fondue, a variety of entrees to share with the coq au vin and cast iron grill cook styles, and the flaming turtle and bananas foster dessert fondues. The food was all quite good, but we were admittedly quite ravenous when it got to us. Fondue is a social meal, and we spent about 3 hours working through our selections. With the cheese fondue, accompanying bread, fruit, and vegetables are the standard, but charcuterie boards can be added, which we did. It's hard to disappoint with cheese, and the Alpine and quattro formaggio fondues were tasty. I tried the strawberry pecan salad, which was a nice touch of lightness after lots of carbs and cheese. The various proteins were also enjoyable with the honey duck breast being my favorite in the coq au vin preparation. The desserts were delectable and quite the show as they flambeed tableside. We received small flutes of sparkling wine on the house because they realized we were celebrating. I would recommend The Melting Pot because it is a fun and tasty experience, however, there are a few things diners should know. First and foremost, carve out some time in your schedule. Make a reservation, but still expect to wait a bit for your table. Because of the style of the food and how busy they are, you're going to be there a while. Drink refills can take a while as well--especially if you're doing water or soft drinks. As the designated driver, I had an empty glass fairly often while they did seem to rush out bottles of wine. If you're ordering wine by the glass, skip the sparkling. They measure each glass out, and the bar staff may not care not to just dump the wine around and sacrifice those bubbles. The menu is overly complicated. In trying to offer more variety, The Melting Pot has made it a nightmare to order with kids and adults who are indecisive or don't follow directions. I think the complicated menu puts more burden on servers to explain and coach through ordering. If you're not a fan of DIY, skip the four course option. If you don't want to cook your own entree, it's simply not worth it. If you enjoy being able to customize, the entrees and dipping sauces will be a delightful treat. Don't be shy to ask for more dippers. Seriously. For six adults, we originally were given a small bowl of vegetables to split with our entree, which was a bit absurd. What kind of side is half a mushroom, a broccoli floret, and a fingerling potato? This was addressed after we asked though. The ladies' room is not ideal. There are three stalls, which means lines often enough. Also, there doesn't seem to be a lot of upkeep going on. Paper towels and toilet paper everywhere isn't what you expect or want to see.
