We recently visited The Mesquitery and SHED in Hood River and had an amazing experience! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Since they were quite busy, we opted to sit in the cozy bar area, which turned out to be a great choice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music was fun and the bartenders were great and the life of the party![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining room is on the smaller side So the bar in a booth was the perfect spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with the pierogis, and they were delicious! For the main course, I had the smoked prime rib, cooked perfectly medium rare, just the way I like it. My husband ordered the special of the night: Italian Asiago stuffed gnocchi with portabella mushrooms and bacon in a garlic cream sauce. It was absolutely incredible! Every bite was bursting with flavor. We can't wait to come back the next time we're in Hood River! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and a welcoming atmosphere.

    NY strip - huge!

Dinner for 5 the other night. Summary: wonderful, worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]"Rustic" interior, but the food is good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Menu is eclectic, with some interesting Polish selections which unfortunately we did not try. Do try their dry-aged steaks if they have them available (ask). The NY strip was absolutely huge, never seen on that big. I made the mistake of ordering a salad and did not ask for it to be served with my entree, so I had a lone steak to eat when they came out, and you really need something to take a break from gnawing on meat. My daughter enjoyed her dry aged ribeye so much that she wanted to go back the next weekend! My wife had the steak salad, and it came with a very generous portion of meat (see photo). Definitely a great choice for carnivores!

Fettuccine Alfredo w/Pesto & Shrimp, amazing!

The food was delicious & packed w/flavor. Fettuccine Alfredo w/Pesto was to die for![[HIGHLIGHT]]Great customer service and they even have a Pool table in the back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would definitely recommend!

It was a busy place last Saturday night with a 20-minute wait in the bar. Had the ribeye with sauted mushrooms and a salad with blue cheese. Good quality meat cooked right on an open flame grill. Local beer on tap. Our server was great. Locals in the bar area mentioned the crowd slims down in the next few weeks after the vacationers return home. Fun place.

Beef Cheeks, garlic bread, salad and chowder.

Wanted a nice dinner on our first night in Hood River. Found the Mesquitery on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We were NOT disappointed. Their web site address is a bit pretentious, but the food was excellent. We had the Beef Cheeks (split with 3 sides). We shared the garlic bread, my wife had chowder and I had a salad. All we're very very good. The Beef Cheeks were tender, flavorful and did not need a knife to cut. They basically fell into pieces when you touched them with the fork. The Cabernet was also very good with good legs.

We traveled to Hood River today. We had a yearning for steak, and saw this place had good reviews. We got there a bit after 5, plenty of seating was available. The staff were friendly, and prompt. I ordered the 20oz Porterhouse, my wife got the 14oz Prime Rib. OMG, they were delicious!! My wife never eats a whole steak, but she ate the whole thing. They were cooked to perfection! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a glass separation, so you can watch the cooking process.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We (I) followed it with the caramel pecan cheesecake. Yummy! This place is a hidden gem! We would definitely eat here again!

Upon arriving this restaurant was easy to find. Parking was road side. We were meet promptly and greeted professionally. Our waitress was attentive, polite, and did a excellent job. My son had the Cuban and a had the beef tenderloin sandwich. We both agreed that this was in our top ten best meals.

Their beer flights come with 6 pours each and it's served in a tall sail (or sharkfin?) shaped tower, each choice is labeled so you know what you're drinking. Their burger with bacon tomato jam was a 10/10! So much flavor and the bun was fresh and lightly buttered and toasted (this really takes it up a notch!). The meat was very tender and lots of flavor (tasted high quality). It's served with a heaping order of fries (or you can upcharge it for $2 and do salad, soup or sweet potato fries). Their chicken wings were tender and came off the bones easily while still having crispy edges. Perfection. After a swim in the river across the street, this place is a chill spot for good food, beer and service. They have indoor seating with views and outdoor seating as well. Inside was nice and cool on a hot day. I'm already looking forward to the next visit!

Definitely got the small town diner feel here, and everything on the menu sounded so good! They also have a specials board inside so make sure to take a look before you make your decision. I finally decided on the south of the border omelette, which also comes with hash browns or potatoes or fruit, and a biscuit or muffin or toast. Such a satisfying and filling meal! The omelette itself was not short on ingredients at all, and I loved the cilantro. The menu did mention homemade salsa but I didn't see any of that on the side or inside. Other than that, the eggs were cooked nicely. I picked the chorizo biscuit on the side and it was so soft and fluffy inside! I also appreciated the amount of options on the kids menu. There was plenty more options than just your standard pancake, bacon, and eggs. Our kids loved the pigs in a blanket which was actually quite big and perfect for our two kids to split. Service was awesome, our server was so kind and even brought out our friend's son's maple bar with a candle because he mentioned it was his birthday. She did it without us even asking which was so sweet! The food came out so quickly too despite the entire restaurant being full. Great experience here at Bette's!

Service was prompt, and the restaurant atmosphere is very pleasant. It's kind of funny because you'll have people in suits having a business meeting over dinner, and other regular hotel guests just dining casually in t-shirts and jeans. On both occasions, I was dining with another family member. When we were there for dinner, we were having a really hard time deciding what to order, and our server let us know that there was a 2-for deal going on for some of the pastas. Each of us had been considering a pasta, so that solved that problem! Both were delicious, and we had leftovers to take home. When we were there for breakfast, I was feeling adventurous and ordered the lox and bagel, which I've only had a very basic version of one other time. It was soooo good, and very filling. Several other options on the breakfast menu also sounded really good, but I'm glad I went with this for the experience. I'd definitely eat here again if/when I stay in the hotel again. Since there's no free breakfast offered by the hotel, they give you vouchers for the restaurant, so you can get a pretty good deal on a meal.

Definitely the standout of the table for me. Service was friendly and expedient, which I always appreciate in the morning when everyone is trying to get caffeinated and out the door. My companions ordered the protein bowl, which was a hearty mix of grains and grilled vegetables with your choice of tofu or egg. It leaned a little bland flavor-wise, but it did exactly what it needed to do: provided a filling, healthy base for a full day of activity in Hood River. Not every dish was a knockout, but overall it was a very solid breakfast spot with fair pricing at about $18 per dish.

This is one of our go-to spots on Hood River. We've been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and…read moresomehow they manage to nail it every single time. Today's mission? Split the St. Helens Burger, an order of fries, and a side salad with the recommended goat cheese (trust them--it was the right call). The burger was everything you want it to be. A fresh poppy seed bun, a perfectly cooked patty, sweet caramelized onions... and then came the poblano pepper. That little bit of smoky heat tied the whole thing together. Now let's talk about the fries because they deserve their own paragraph. These are, without question, my favorite fries. They arrived hot, crispy, perfectly golden, and had that satisfying crunch that makes it impossible to stop at just one. If you're a fry person, these alone are worth the visit. The side salad was fresh and flavorful, and the creamy goat cheese took it from "just a side salad" to something I'd happily order again. It was the perfect balance to all those delicious fries. If you're looking for a place that consistently delivers great food in a welcoming atmosphere, Kickstand Coffee should absolutely be on your list. We've yet to have a bad meal here, and it's one of those places we recommend without hesitation to friends, family, and anyone who asks where to eat. I now wish I didn't let my husband eat more of the fries. Gotta head back up there soon! Everyone else is already finishing up their drinks and meals. Wanting just one drink after a long day, I head to the bar! My wife asks me to get her one too. Here's where it gets bizarre. Kickstand has a bar...well, it looks like a bar. But what I found out is that it's just for looks because it doesn't act like a bar. I thought ordering two cocktails and paying for my drinks would be easy, like it is at every bar in town. But the bartender, I mean employee standing behind a bar, asked if I was with the large group. I stated, "yes, I was." Then she proceeded to tell me that the drinks would be on someone's tab. But I showed up late...I don't know what's happening. I don't know who's paying for the "tab". I just wanted to buy two drinks and walk away. But that wasn't allowed at Kickstand. Then another employee walks up and attempts to take my drink order. Super confused, I tell her the employee standing behind the bar just took my drink order. And then we proceeded down the tab conversation again. The second employee said because "we" were a party of 8 or more, I couldn't pay for my own drinks and I they would have to put it on the party's tab. But again, I don't know who owns the tab. If it was the woman having the birthday, I didn't want to add to her bill...on her birthday. Then they suggested I "could just Venmo" the party girl. No! I want to just order two drinks and have Kickstand take my money. Why wouldn't they just take my money?! The place was dead tonight, other than the 5 or so small daycarel families, sitting at their own tables, that made up the "party". I canceled my drink order and walked away out of protest and principal. When asked if I was with the big party, I should have said no I guess. Lesson leaned for next time, if there is a next time. Kickstand, you're so difficult and frustrating!!
