Did 2 hour of axe throwing and boy were we a little tired the next day. The atmosphere is nice and cozy with cabin/mountain vibes, full bar to order drinks (we had beers). Staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming. If you forget to bring closed to shoes they provide bear paw sandals to wear (loved them). We had the projector screen to adjust your targets, we came to celebrate for a birthday and it was absolutely fun. Would do again, thank you!

Axe-pect the best from this venue! Incredible staff and fun around all corners (pinball games were vast and entertaining). The axe throwing itself was exhilarating, but you can also change the game into a zombie target practice among other scenarios instead of just your regular target throwing. Cozy sit down areas, and clean bathrooms.

Our experience at The Mighty Axe was awesome! Autumn was there to greet us at the bar with great suggestions on what to drink. She took the time to understand what I liked and suggested great options that I enjoyed. Which then led us to our throwing experience where Justin was very patient and kind with us both to help us improve. One of us may have struggled a bit and he had us keep trying until we perfected the throw. He was a great instructor. We will definitely be back just for them! read more

Axepert Matthew is great. Super helpful with getting those less than naturally talented into the right grove/style. Plus a great attitude overall. We used all of his game suggestions. Kill shot was the hardest modifier. Overall The Mighty Axe is a fun time. Large selection of beers and snacks. Plenty of space, but reservations are probably a must on the weekend. Try it out and see if you have a new favorite hobby. Note for noise sensitive people: Axe misses are very loud. read more

Last minute reservations for Father's Day and axe throwing we went. You get a quick tutorial on how to properly throw axe and I pad and a semi private booth to throw your axe into wood that seems to be replaced regularly. We all had a wonderful time. Great for social gathering, family night out or even a date. read more

I went here with a couple friends on a whim of a "yes" day. And it was one of the funnest nights I've had. This axe throwing place for one has a great selection of beer. It also has games that project onto the target so we played just about all of them. The best part tho? You can upload a picture that you can throw axes at. For my own personal amusement we put a picture of my ex (who recently cheated on me) and took turns throwing axes at it. So much fun! read more

Went here for New Years with my family to celebrate the New Year with a bang! While only two of us have ever actually thrown anything, with the generous time-frame they give you everyone in our party had a chance to practice and make the axes stick. As for the bar scene, it covers most of the bases of Ventura County brewing, so no complaints there. Overall it's a great activity to take a group to! read more

Our axe-pert for our visit was Jessa, and she did a wonderful job explaining everything (especially since it was my first time) and our bartender Matt had our drinks out to us in no time. Matt was a good bartender and Joey was our "Axe-pert" who showed us the ropes before starting. Was surprised how much it was for 1hr ($35/person) but it was fun. This place is awesome! It's way too nice to be located at the Janss Mall, but here it is:). First, Jessa our "axepert" fully explained how to throw and safety precautions (and was quite personable), and the bartenders Kim and Jensen served up some delicious beverages. This is a great place for either families or a date. Such a nice addition to a much needed location. One side note, stay away from the chicken wings ( this comes from Greccos) as my teenage boys couldn't even muster the motivation to finish them. All other food was delish! I feel I should have been comped the shot considering I was told by the employee I could use it. So now my bill is $26.00 and a larger tip. All of your accusations are false and not accurate we sell hundreds of thousands of these dishes you've mentioned all made in house and fresh with rave reviews and what's funny most people will look at your outrageous post and list and laugh at how inaccurate it is. We obviously cannot help the ranting you have made and the quiz patrons feel free to not come back if you are going to falsely slander our business they way you have. Very disappointed in the amount of false statements you've made but that what Yelp is a platform for people to hide behind rather than calling an owner or manager to discuss true facts. Good luck in your future endeavors at better restaurants we obviously aren't the place for you. so kim... exactly what did I say that wasnt true? that one of my teamates won't come anymore because your ladies room is not up to cleanliness standards? that your food is wildly inconsistent? that your managers have told me that ownership doesn't give a crap about quality? Hate to break it to you but no one in the room of 60+ people was disappointed when our quizmaster told us that we wouldn't be having trivia at the crown and anchor anymore. There were even a few cheers! and we didn't miss a single trivia night because he had pre arranged to switch our wednesday night trivia to a different restaurant that although it is an even further drive for me and my team, the food is much better, completely consistent and ownership of the restaurant takes pride in the product they put out. We have been asking our quizmaster for years to find an alternative to the crown and anchor.... We go to wednesday night trivia because we love the quality of the quiz and we suffer through your food as a sort of "necessary evil" and you can accuse me of not approaching you personally when there was a problem with a meal but the fact of the matter is that I have approached your managers several times with issues (like when the iced tea had no flavor or the fries tasted like they were cooked in filthy oil or the chili breadbowl was stale) and those same managers (multiple) said that you weren't there and you didn't really care about the product the crown and anchor put out. you could have just apologized for my negative experience but instead you accused me of lying and slander. And just because you manage to stay in business doesn't mean that you are putting out good/consistent product.

It is big enough to split between two people. It comes with salsa and thirsty sauce to add on top. I recommend this breakfast burrito and would definitely come back to get it again.

There was a good half dozen or so school buses parked where the volleyball courts are. Either a summer camp or school is back in session and it was a beach day. The odd thing, after an hour we arrived, the clouds started to roll in. Within minutes, it went from sunshine to overcast and gloomy. Stayed like that for a good hour and half. Even looking out to the hillside, it was so gloomy that you couldn't see down the beach. When the clouds burned off, it was back to beautiful beach weather. Lifeguard towers were in full force. We did notice that security on four wheelers were patrolling. They did questioned some people. It's a beautiful stretch of beach if you haven't been. The water was beautiful and looked clean but the waves were on a different level. They were pretty massive so lifeguards were on full force. People did go in the water but not a lot. To make it more magical, there were schools of dolphins swimming close by the shore. Even more fun, you could see them basically surfing the waves. That brought everyone on their feet trying to get the perfect picture. There's a good amount of restrooms and showers. It was actually clean which is a major plus. There's also a little lagoon that's a hangout for all the seagulls and pelican. Sand was soft and hot. Beach was clean, water was clean so it's was a good experience. I hear of this place every summer but never had the chance til this week. What a great place for kids to enjoy water play. But actually for the entire family too! We went during free swim time from 12-4pm and it was only $10 for ages 3 and up. There's a big shallow kiddie pool with water activities and then 2 water slides on the back side of the park. There's a rec pool that maybe goes to 4.5 ft depth so it's perfect for just enjoying the water when you can't lap swim because the pool is crowded. A large picnic table area can be found in the middle of the center too so you can being lunch and snacks too. There a larger Olympic size pool on the west end of the center that can be used for lap swimming so overall it's great for all ages and swimming levels. We're planning to be here quite a bit for the summer! There's also cabanas to change into and showers to rinse off before and after swimming.

Today was my first visit to this business. They have a nice variety of pinball machines and they are well maintained. but I was turned off by the way management handled certain situations. We arrived with our own food, like we had on previous visits, but on this visit we were informed that outside food was not allowed. We tried explaining that we had always been allowed to bring in food, but there was no compromise offered nor alternate solutions. A moment after we tried explaining the food situation, a young kid in his teens walked up to the bartender / manager and asked him if everything was okay because he saw him looking around. I felt as if this kid was trying to play security and asking if we needed to be kicked out. We had to quickly finish our beers so that we could go outside to eat our food. At the same time, another group had a huge spread of Mexican food laid out across the entire right side of the bar. It was buffet style with sauces, guacamole, etc. in aluminum containers (I don't recall Mexican food being a menu item that they offer). I later on came back to order another beer and the food had still been laying out an hour and a half later, unopened. When I went to the bar and it was full so I was forced to wait at the side that had all of the food. As I approached the bar, I placed my jacket onto the bar and accidentally dipped the corner of my jacket into the green sauce. The bartender tossed me some napkins, didn't say a word and never replaced or threw out the contaminated jacket flavored sauce. I shrugged it off and went to the bathroom to clean up. Bathrooms were well maintained. I was then playing pinball when the power to all of the machines were cut off. This is incredibly rude and gives the customer the impression that this business operates on a 'we don't care about you' model and that they are only interested in obtaining your cash. On the way out we asked if cutting power is the new policy and the staff members smiled and said yes. Everywhere else I have gone, you are given at least one, 10 minute warning as a courtesy. To top things off. They also scheduled an upgrade to their 'Stranger things' pinball machine during the $8 free play time slot. The upgrade requires a technician to take apart the machine while squeezing in between 'Stranger things' and the machine next to it. This upgrade made it so that the machine being worked on and the machines directly near that machine were not usable unless you wanted to be in the technicians way. The staff members could learn a lot from the technician. The tech was welcoming and speaking to patrons while fixing the machine! The tech had great customer service skills! Due to the horrible timing of the upgrade impacting 3 machines and 'whirlwind' not being part of the $8 deal (staff can't figure out how to enable free play) My $8 buy in only saved me $1. I got to play 9 games total with a wet, spicy smelling jacket and the feeling that I wasn't welcome. I also want to make it clear that not all of the staff were behaving unprofessionally. Everyone was great other than the bartender/ manager and the young kid that was blindly following orders and playing the role of security/ bouncer. To summarize: 1. Mgmt/ bartenders staff needs customer service training. 2. Policies need to be implemented that allow for advanced notice of when the business is closing. Example 'wrap it up everyone, we are closing in 10 minutes'. Don't just shut off the power. 3. The website's FAQ needs to be updated to answer 'Can I bring my own food'. 4. The bar needs to be kept clean so that patrons don't have to maneuver around food items that have been laying out for hours. 5. Do not schedule pinball upgrades during the Tuesday 8pm-10pm window. This negates the entire reason for running a $8 'all you can play' event. 6. Train staff on how to set the 'whirlwind' pinball game to 'free play'. Good things: Bathroom was clean. The girl that works there and the pinball tech are friendly. Good selection of beer Pinball games are well maintained and there is a good selection. read more

Absolutely amazing night at the mighty axe! If you haven't been axe throwing, it is a must. My party of 5 came early, got some drinks (bartender Matt was awesome to talk to, and had amazing recommendations) and hung out until it was time to hit the lanes. Ash, our main axespert, gave us a super accessible and fun tutorial, and we were rolling- she checked on us throughout the night and made sure we were having a great time. The team really worked in tandem to get us our food and drinks, clear the tables, crack some jokes, and were generally an absolute pleasure (Thank you Jensen, Edith, and Jackson!). We heard talk around the town of this cool place! We finally decided to check it out and we are so happy we did! We went for a date night for a 1 hour axe throwing, and it was so much fun. The hour was a good amount of time, for it being (basically) our first time axe throwing. Though next time, we probably will do a 2 hr throwing and spend more of an evening there. Our host was Matt, and he was awesome!! Showed us the right way to throw, and was encouraging when we were practicing. He would walk by throughout the session and spark conversation and cheer us on, a very friendly guy! Great atmosphere, great beer, and even amazing food they pick up for you around the place! Just want to start off by saying that I've never thrown an axe in my life before this, but I had the most amazing time here at The Mighty Axe because of Matthew helping me out! My first few tries started off by nearly nipping a chunk of my own ear off, but Matthew is the ultimate axe throwing expert and his tips helped me feel like I was becoming a pro! I was looking for a unique way to celebrate my sisters birthday and get some aggression out. This place was THE MOST fun we've had in a long time. We had no idea what to do, but we had a great axe master to get us started. We laughed all night. We enjoyed relaxing in the lounge after and having some treats and drinks and chatting with the bartender,Matt. He was so much fun to chat with and was so nice to answer our continual questions about ace throwing. This was my first time axe throwing, and it was easy and exciting to try it at this place with a group of 5 people. First, we arrived and ordered some drinks from our awesome bartender Jensen. Then we check in and headed in, our Axepert was really helpful with the directions, and it was perfect since some of us didn't know how to even hold the axe, she cared and let us do some practice throws before staring one of the many fun games they had. I'm sad to leave this review. Fun activity, really nice staff; I've been twice and have recommended it to friends, but... Saturday night we noticed that there's an option to change your target so that you're throwing axes at a caricature of a bound President Biden. That's violent, anti-American, and disgusting. Our town has been through one mass shooting, this week someone was arrested for making threats against one of ur public officials, and making light of political violence is not ok. I was walking around the mall with my sister over the weekend when we came across this place and decided to have some lunch and throw some axes. What a cool place to take a shopping break! The wings are really good, but some flavors were pretty spicy so if you're sensitive be careful. Not only is it a fun place to throw an axe, but it's got great ambiance as well. You can chill with your beer on the couch, in front of the fire, while you wait for a lane to open up. The targets are all WATL regulation, and leagues have been forming. There's also a great selection of beers from local micro breweries. Had a good time with my inferior, lying sister while I was here. Had a couple of drinks near the fireplace and had an hour of throwing axes in the back. Jensen encouraged us to get the Enegren spring lager which probably helped my sister forget that she in fact lost all games except for the last one. It was everything that I wanted, even if I didn't know beforehand. The bar had a very friendly barman. The food was the good stuff we usually don't get to savor.
