First time axe throwing and it was actually pretty cool. Nice way to get out some pent up stress / aggression . Our axepert was Jessica & she was funny and gave tips to the people next to us which was cool . They have beer and food if you're thirsty / hungry and it wasn't that bad . I've been here a couple times and hung out at the bar for drinks when we forgot to where closed toes shoes (who woulda thunk it that we can't axe throw without them ikr! Lol we shoulda known. ) So yeah don't forget them!!! Also don't forget to make a reservation before showing up . Especially to ensure there's a lane available for the time you want to play. I've been to the one in Calabasas and that was fun being outdoors and all. But this was perfect for a rainy day and having a nice bar inside and the option to or food from the surrounding restaurants and they deliver right to you ! What really stood out here is the ability to change the picture that's projected onto the throwing board for different game options and to keep score as well. Had a great date night at the Mighty Axe. Amelia was so patient and very helpful as it was my first time axe throwing. She walked us through everything & made sure we were safe but having fun. She even gave us an extra 10 minutes to finish our game! The environment was very chill with great music. Joey served great drinks & allowed us to try a couple different flavors to make sure we got the best option for us. Once our time was up, we were able to play fun little games in the lobby. Amazing fun! Went here last night with a bunch of friends for my birthday. What a blast! So much fun! The ambiance is relaxed and not rushed at all! All the employees are friendly and ready to make your evening one to remember! Our bartender was wonderful, offering tips and samples! Our Axepert, Justin, really made the evening though. He gave each one of us a lesson in how to throw the axe. He was extremely patient and friendly! He worked with me until I got a bullseye! He came by several times to check on us and ensure we were having the best time possible! He even came up front after we finished and took a picture with us. He gave me a huge fake axe to hold! I walked into this place and there was hardly anyone around. There were several people sitting at the bar and 1 group throwing axe. We stood there looking to check it out and try something but no one paid attention and because we were not familiar with this place we walked out! One of my favorite spots. Outside of the ax throwing, which is always a good time, this place has so much more. First off, Autumn the bartender is super sweet and helpful. This place has so much good beer on draft, props for having Enegren!, and they have a ton of pinball machines. I could honestly live here. I'm so glad we have an Axe Throwing venue in our neighborhood. We invited friends to come out and throw with us for a fun couples event. We felt very safe and Grant was a great instructor. We have been asking our quizmaster for years to find an alternative to the crown and anchor.... We go to wednesday night trivia because we love the quality of the quiz and we suffer through your food as a sort of "necessary evil" and you can accuse me of not approaching you personally when there was a problem with a meal but the fact of the matter is that I have approached your managers several times with issues (like when the iced tea had no flavor or the fries tasted like they were cooked in filthy oil or the chili breadbowl was stale) and those same managers (multiple) said that you weren't there and you didn't really care about the product the crown and anchor put out. you could have just apologized for my negative experience but instead you accused me of lying and slander. And just because you manage to stay in business doesn't mean that you are putting out good/consistent product.

Today was my first visit to this business. They have a nice variety of pinball machines and they are well maintained. but I was turned off by the way management handled certain situations. We arrived with our own food, like we had on previous visits, but on this visit we were informed that outside food was not allowed. We tried explaining that we had always been allowed to bring in food, but there was no compromise offered nor alternate solutions. A moment after we tried explaining the food situation, a young kid in his teens walked up to the bartender / manager and asked him if everything was okay because he saw him looking around. I felt as if this kid was trying to play security and asking if we needed to be kicked out. We had to quickly finish our beers so that we could go outside to eat our food. At the same time, another group had a huge spread of Mexican food laid out across the entire right side of the bar. It was buffet style with sauces, guacamole, etc. in aluminum containers (I don't recall Mexican food being a menu item that they offer). I later on came back to order another beer and the food had still been laying out an hour and a half later, unopened. When I went to the bar and it was full so I was forced to wait at the side that had all of the food. As I approached the bar, I placed my jacket onto the bar and accidentally dipped the corner of my jacket into the green sauce. The bartender tossed me some napkins, didn't say a word and never replaced or threw out the contaminated jacket flavored sauce. I shrugged it off and went to the bathroom to clean up. Bathrooms were well maintained. I was then playing pinball when the power to all of the machines were cut off. This is incredibly rude and gives the customer the impression that this business operates on a 'we don't care about you' model and that they are only interested in obtaining your cash. On the way out we asked if cutting power is the new policy and the staff members smiled and said yes. Everywhere else I have gone, you are given at least one, 10 minute warning as a courtesy. To top things off. They also scheduled an upgrade to their 'Stranger things' pinball machine during the $8 free play time slot. The upgrade requires a technician to take apart the machine while squeezing in between 'Stranger things' and the machine next to it. This upgrade made it so that the machine being worked on and the machines directly near that machine were not usable unless you wanted to be in the technicians way. The staff members could learn a lot from the technician. The tech was welcoming and speaking to patrons while fixing the machine! The tech had great customer service skills! Due to the horrible timing of the upgrade impacting 3 machines and 'whirlwind' not being part of the $8 deal (staff can't figure out how to enable free play) My $8 buy in only saved me $1. I got to play 9 games total with a wet, spicy smelling jacket and the feeling that I wasn't welcome. I also want to make it clear that not all of the staff were behaving unprofessionally. Everyone was great other than the bartender/ manager and the young kid that was blindly following orders and playing the role of security/ bouncer. To summarize: 1. Mgmt/ bartenders staff needs customer service training. 2. Policies need to be implemented that allow for advanced notice of when the business is closing. Example 'wrap it up everyone, we are closing in 10 minutes'. Don't just shut off the power. 3. The website's FAQ needs to be updated to answer 'Can I bring my own food'. 4. The bar needs to be kept clean so that patrons don't have to maneuver around food items that have been laying out for hours. 5. Do not schedule pinball upgrades during the Tuesday 8pm-10pm window. This negates the entire reason for running a $8 'all you can play' event. 6. Train staff on how to set the 'whirlwind' pinball game to 'free play'. Good things: Bathroom was clean. The girl that works there and the pinball tech are friendly. Good selection of beer Pinball games are well maintained and there is a good selection. read more

Absolutely amazing night at the mighty axe! If you haven't been axe throwing, it is a must. My party of 5 came early, got some drinks (bartender Matt was awesome to talk to, and had amazing recommendations) and hung out until it was time to hit the lanes. Ash, our main axespert, gave us a super accessible and fun tutorial, and we were rolling- she checked on us throughout the night and made sure we were having a great time. The team really worked in tandem to get us our food and drinks, clear the tables, crack some jokes, and were generally an absolute pleasure (Thank you Jensen, Edith, and Jackson!). Throwing axes is fun in itself, the atmosphere was amazing, the team was a delight, and I couldn't have asked for anything more. read more

We heard talk around the town of this cool place! We finally decided to check it out and we are so happy we did! We went for a date night for a 1 hour axe throwing, and it was so much fun. The hour was a good amount of time, for it being (basically) our first time axe throwing. Though next time, we probably will do a 2 hr throwing and spend more of an evening there. Our host was Matt, and he was awesome!! Showed us the right way to throw, and was encouraging when we were practicing. He would walk by throughout the session and spark conversation and cheer us on, a very friendly guy! Great atmosphere, great beer, and even amazing food they pick up for you around the place! Just want to start off by saying that I've never thrown an axe in my life before this, but I had the most amazing time here at The Mighty Axe because of Matthew helping me out! My first few tries started off by nearly nipping a chunk of my own ear off, but Matthew is the ultimate axe throwing expert and his tips helped me feel like I was becoming a pro! Call us Benjamin Edgington and Tobias Macera because I think this just might be my calling because of his pro teaching skills! If I ever end up in a mishap from axe throwing and I do chip a part of my body off, I'll save that piece for the gigachad Matty himself and send him that chunk of ear to save as a memory read more

I was looking for a unique way to celebrate my sisters birthday and get some aggression out. This place was THE MOST fun we've had in a long time. We had no idea what to do, but we had a great axe master to get us started. We laughed all night. We enjoyed relaxing in the lounge after and having some treats and drinks and chatting with the bartender,Matt. He was so much fun to chat with and was so nice to answer our continual questions about ace throwing. It's great going somewhere where you know you are going to have fun, but it is even better with staff like Matt! Thanks guys for making this a great day for my sister! read more

We stopped by The Mighty Axe in Thousand Oaks without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised to be able to start playing right away! The whole experience was a blast. The setup is fun, the vibe is relaxed, and the beer selection is solid. A special shoutout to Amelia, who truly made our visit even better. She was super friendly, gave clear and helpful instructions on how to throw the axe properly, and made sure we were having a great time throughout. Her energy and guidance really stood out. This was my first time axe throwing, and it was easy and exciting to try it at this place with a group of 5 people. First, we arrived and ordered some drinks from our awesome bartender Jensen. Then we check in and headed in, our Axepert was really helpful with the directions, and it was perfect since some of us didn't know how to even hold the axe, she cared and let us do some practice throws before staring one of the many fun games they had. I was a bit nervous about trying axe throwing for the first time, but Aidan quickly put me at ease with his friendly demeanor and expert guidance. He took the time to teach me the proper technique, provided helpful tips for improving my aim, and cheered me on with each throw. I'm sad to leave this review. Fun activity, really nice staff; I've been twice and have recommended it to friends, but... Saturday night we noticed that there's an option to change your target so that you're throwing axes at a caricature of a bound President Biden. That's violent, anti-American, and disgusting. Our town has been through one mass shooting, this week someone was arrested for making threats against one of ur public officials, and making light of political violence is not ok. I was walking around the mall with my sister over the weekend when we came across this place and decided to have some lunch and throw some axes. What a cool place to take a shopping break! The wings are really good, but some flavors were pretty spicy so if you're sensitive be careful. Jensen was awesome about helping find drinks for me since I have a gluten intolerance and made sure every one I was getting was safe to consume. Not only is it a fun place to throw an axe, but it's got great ambiance as well. You can chill with your beer on the couch, in front of the fire, while you wait for a lane to open up. The targets are all WATL regulation, and leagues have been forming. There's also a great selection of beers from local micro breweries. Ryan, the owner, always has a smile on his face, ready with helpful hints, and if you ask nicely, he takes requests for music. read more

Had a good time with my inferior, lying sister while I was here. Had a couple of drinks near the fireplace and had an hour of throwing axes in the back. Jensen encouraged us to get the Enegren spring lager which probably helped my sister forget that she in fact lost all games except for the last one. Can't wait to come back with the rest of the family so I can establish her at the absolute bottom of the totem pole. Had a great time! read more

It was everything that I wanted, even if I didn't know beforehand. The bar had a very friendly barman. The food was the good stuff we usually don't get to savor. Only one of us had thrown an axe before. It is easily available to most any, but the skill level can progress infinitely. Grant very neatly gave us the basics and a few great tips. This was one of the best desserts we've ever had. The warm chocolate Crossiant bread pudding with the horchata ice cream on top was perfection. I loved the little detail of the sprinkled honeycomb. For starters, we ordered the Hamachi, Salmon Tartare Tacos, and Smoked Trout Toast. Each dish had an interesting concept, but none stood out. The salmon and tartare were ground so finely that they lacked the texture and freshness we expected. For our entrées, we had the Tomato & Burrata and the Sea Bream. The sauce accompanying the burrata was excellent and was the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the sea bream itself was slightly overcooked. We also tried two non-alcoholic drinks: a hibiscus mocktail and a lychee lemonade. Both were pleasant but unremarkable. For dessert, we ordered the peach galette and the chocolate dessert. They were nicely presented but tasted average. The chocolatine contained croissant bits. Given the restaurant's prices, we expected desserts to be better curated and with memorable flavors. Instead, they reminded us of supermarket-quality desserts. Overall, this is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service, but the food did not live up to either the presentation or the price. We'd consider returning for the atmosphere, but not for the value.

A bit pricey for a bar pizza but tasty and large enough for the two of us to share. A scoop of their house made ice cream for dessert. Now that was quite good. And being a brewery, I had my choice of IPAs to pick from. Also NICE! The trivia was closer to the New York Times connections game rather than true trivia, but still a lot of fun for a group to play (no, even as a group we were terrible but still fun)

Tarantula Hill Brewing is probably the most popular place to get drinks in the Thousand Oaks and Westlake/Agoura area. Don't ever expect it to be quiet because they'll have live bands, high school reunions, to even little kids birthday parties because of the ice cream store that they have at the back. What's nice, though, is that they have a brewing beer line and on the other side of the place, they have more cocktails and mocktails with an ice cream store in the back. Both times that I've been here, my boyfriend has gotten a beer while I will explore the cocktails menu. My boyfriend also likes that you can sample the beers and sours to see if you'd be interested in getting a full drink. They have a lot of good basic drinks, as well as the frozen blood orange margarita, which is my favorite and packs a punch. The first time we went, security wasn't really present, but it was during a weekday while when we went on a Saturday night, we noticed that security was going around giving wristbands. The only time we've had an issue is when we went the most previous time on a Saturday night and because their frozen margarita machine was being serviced, it was taking longer than usual to get my drink. When we first went to order, they said that they would be ready in 10 to 15 minutes so after 15 minutes, we went back to check again. A different worker told us that it would be another 15 minutes and then it should be ready shortly, so we waited again another 15 minutes and noticed that the machine still wasn't working. You end up feeling bad as a customer having to keep asking about something because you're not being updated or communicated to. It sucks because in the end, we ended up having to wait an hour or so in total just to get one drink, and by that time, my boyfriend had already drank two beers. I ended up having to get in line again and waiting behind a long line of people which took over 20 minutes just to get told that the frozen drinks had been ready for a while even though we had consistently been checking. When it comes to customer service, no one really seemed to care that we had to wait over an hour for one drink, as I know that they were swamped, but no consideration was present at all. I'm glad that when I finally got the drink that it was good, but because it was a frozen one apparently they had also made one on the rocks at the same time just in case the machine STILL wasn't ready after an hour (although we had been told that it would be ready in 10 to 15 minutes). We were upset to see that when we went to close out our tab, they put both the on the rocks and frozen margarita on our bill even though I had just wanted the one frozen blood orange margarita. All in all, it's nice that we have a place like Tarantula Hill in the Thousand Oaks area, but it's moments like those that discourage me from coming again in the future. If Tarantula Hill Brewing can find a better balance of handling the Friday to Sunday rush with people, then I feel like they would have a better loyal customer base and I'd love to keep being one of them.
