The place was dead on a Sunday before 11:00am, so I had plenty of seating to choose from and was able to enjoy the cool AC on this hot day. By 11:30am, more people started showing up, just a handful of customers, but the place actually looked alive. The restaurant setting and decor created an inviting space. There was even a disco ball with lights spinning throughout the room. Country music played through the speakers. Live music was supposed to happen at 11:00am for Honky Tonk brunch on Sunday, but didn't. The musician actually arrived at 11:10am, then took another ten minutes to set up. It was worth the wait as Blaine Long was impressive and produced lovely sounds on the guitar, harmonica, and vocals, with songs like Jolene and a country version of Hallelujah entertaining guests. Staff provided attentive service. And my order took just 10 minutes to be ready. I got belle's biscuits and gravy with the eggs cooked scrambled, and a side of breakfast sausage. The sausage had a nice saltiness to it and really great flavor. The biscuits were flatter than I'm used to but were still soft and fluffy. I enjoyed my entire dish and finished every last bite. Listen, I came for Nashville hot chicken and left questioning every food decision I've ever made before this meal. Belle's is doing something right, and I'm not just saying that because the cocktails lowered my critical thinking. Speaking of cocktails, the Belle on Wheels is a sleeper hit. Muddled jalapeño, raspberry, ginger beer: a fresh little wink of heat that never overstays its welcome. It's the jalapeño equivalent of a meet cute, catches you off guard, makes you smile, and you're thinking about it the rest of the night. The Main Street Marg got a custom upgrade with their house pineapple jalapeño tequila (yes, I asked nicely), and it delivered the same way. Hot rim was a touch salty, but paired with the drink it absolutely worked. And the Lady Friend? Waaaaay too drinkable, which is exactly how they getcha. Tastes like strawberry lemonade, goes down like strawberry lemonade, and then suddenly it's your third one. And then there's the Southern Peach, which deserves its moment. Deep Eddy peach vodka, fresh lemon, black peach iced tea, wonderfully refreshing, not overly sweet, and exactly what it promises to be. No tricks, no heat, just a solidly classic drink that feels like sitting on a porch on a summer evening. Sometimes that's exactly what you need. One thing worth calling out on its own: Belle's use of fresh jalapeño across their cocktail menu is genuinely impressive. It would be so easy to reach for jalapeño syrup or some bottled shortcut, but the fresh muddled pepper flavor comes through clean and bright in every sip. It doesn't hide behind the other ingredients and it doesn't bully them either. It just shows up and makes everything better, which is honestly a great quality in both a cocktail ingredient and a person. Now. The Devils on Horseback. Jalapeño poppers with pimento cheese and bacon? I don't know why pimento cheese isn't the standard everywhere, but someone needs to have a word with every other restaurant. The jalapeños were pre-cooked just enough to lose that raw crunch, the pimento cheese is creamy and savory against the heat, and the bacon brings smokiness without going full salt lick. The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich is the main event and it shows up. We went medium heat, their "Mother Clucker," and let me be very clear: do not let the word "medium" lull you into a false sense of security. I am not a heat wimp. I eat spicy food regularly and voluntarily. My lips were burning and my nose was running and I was absolutely not stopping. The chicken itself is perfectly juicy, which matters because you need that moisture to survive what's happening to your face. The spicy aioli piles on (lovingly), the slaw brings its own sneaky heat while pretending to be the cooling element, and the dill pickles are the only thing on that sandwich acting with any kind of decency. The fries were creamy inside, crisp outside, and frankly deserved their own review. Order the sandwich. Bring napkins. Accept your fate. For dessert, the Y'all Bananas Puddin' had me at hello. One small note: they crush the vanilla wafers into more of a crust situation, which is genuinely delicious, but you do lose that classic soggy wafer texture that banana pudding loyalists live for. Still a 10/10. I would eat it by the bucket. I thought about it. Original review: I want to give Belle's higher stars but just can't. We had high hopes that were not met. We reserved the beauty at belles bachelorette package. The manager was helpful and did problem solve our issues satisfactorily. To break it down: Pros: Tablescape was cute and fun for the bachelorette party, customized menu with the brides name. Live music was very enjoyable. Food was delicious and portions were huge. Drinks also delicious. Cons: Very ignored by our server despite the restaurant not seeming to busy, also watching the server talk with and be a lively server with tables around us. As well as take their orders and serve them despite us being there way before. Server started by coming to us to introduce himself and talk to me as I was the one who booked and take our appetizer order. Then said he'll be back he's triple sat. Our apps come out and then we take drink orders at that point the server said well I don't want anyone to be confused so we will do drinks for now, at this point drinks were there apps were consumed dirty dishes piled up on the small table. No mains even ordered. We did make eye contact and attempt to get his attention and the server said oh I need to run food first. We waited even longer. At that point I asked to order now and for a manger. I was approached and stated this package is advertised as this fun great experience and we are in the policy of automatic 20% gratuity and it feels like we were just scammed into ensuring a serving can get tips and we were feeling very frustrated with the whole experience. As many times as I've been to Old Town Scottsdale, I'm not sure I ever really noticed Belle's, or I thought it was just a bar. The western honky-tonk theme was very welcoming. It's not a big place but there were plenty of available tables when we arrived and we were told to take our pick. We sat towards the back getting a great view of the whole place. We ordered the jalapeno cornbread skillet to start, which was good though I wish the top had been a bit crispier. The menu had a lot of great choices. I decided on the Ahi Tuna Salad. The combination of the salad greens with the sesame crusted ahi and the wonton strips was excellent. The salad was dressed perfectly - not too much and not too little. Hubby went with the Nashville Hot Chicken level Baby Bird. He said it was still pretty spicy, and it was messy, but he loved it. He got it with the garlic fries which were so good. My wife had found this place on an advertisement for some Scottsdale event and remembered it when we were heading to Scottsdale Center for the Arts for a show. VERY Happy with the Shrimp N Grits (Used to hate grits until you find them done right like they are here) and I absolutely loved the sampler platter! We had asked about the kool-aid pickles and wanted to try them since they are marinated in kool-aid for like 24 hours and then in a buttermilk batter for another 8-12(?) hours!! So the sampler gave us more than enough to try as well as the nashville hot chicken fingers (which were too spicy for my wife, but I REALLY Liked them) and the devils on horseback jalapeno poppers with pimento cheese (which we almost fought over!). I found this place on Yelp, it had pretty good reviews. The reviews made me go there, and the ambiance, menu, and about to have live music made me stay. The mean thing, the food, was a total disappointment. We got Devils on Horseback, Popcorn Chick'n, and Kool-Aid Pickles. All three were bad. But I think the worst was the Popcorn chicken. We asked for medium spice. The level of the spice was really medium, which was good. But they used chili oil. Deep fried chicken, topped with lots of oily sauce, and top of it had chili oil. So basically super-uper oily chicken that I couldn't get more than one piece. My brother was hungry, he ate the most but regretted it later. Devils on horseback are basically stuffed jalapenos wrapped with bacon. I wish it was more crispy. But the bacon was so soft and made the whole dish somewhat soggy. Still good to have it, I definitely had better stuffed jalapenos. Kool-aid Pickles is fried dill pickles which are normally one of my favorite appetizers; including when I was in Nashville.
