Chilaquiles with over-easy eggs and gooey cheese
    Tria M.

Always very good lunch food (with a view), this time tried breakfast. Hubby had an omelette with sausage, and I had the Chilaquiles with eggs over-easy. Some of the tastiest Chilaquiles I've had in AZ, beans and corn were a nice addition. Coffee was hot and tasty served in large le Crueset cups (nice). Great friendly service too! Will be back. A hidden gem.

    Happy hour with friends

We stopped in here this week for a happy hour with friends before heading to the Zoo for Roars and Pours. Our friend had reserved a firepit spot for us and just 'wow'- so comfy around the fire enjoying friends, wine and snacks. There was live music as well (he was VERY good!), service was excellent and the sunset was incredible. There is a huge grassy area where kids were playing, and a friend brought her pup so patio is dog friendly. I will say the happy hour pricing wasn't great- $1 off wine- but being on a golf course and with this view of the Papago mountain, they don't really need to provide a deal lol. Excellent spot for a group gathering!

Came here on a Monday afternoon for lunch with a bunch of mom friends and our kiddos. We had spent the morning at the zoo so this was a convenient, close place to grab food. A couple of the friends I was with come here quite a bit because they can sit outside with the kids, who can run around the nice big grassy area. Anywhere with a space the kids can be loose and free is a HUGE BONUS! I called ahead and made a reservation since there was 11 of us total. They set us up at one of their fire pit areas, that were all fully in the sun. They had umbrellas around but we had to move them, and set them up ourselves. I guess they didn't mind that we moved the umbrellas but they also didn't help us. Service was slow and food was not very good. It's rare I feel this way - I'm not a picky eater, I'm usually very pleased with most things. I got the fish and chips and the fish was tough. My friends said their fish tacos were really dry. I tried my daughter's chicken fingers and they were also tough! It's like they were using bad pieces of meat. The french fries were great. Overall, I don't think it was worth the money.

I picked this place randomly to meet up with a friend.. I didn't realize this was the golf course restaurant though .. you will see Papago mountains in the background which is nice.. they have a nice patio are that's fenced in.. which is very nice if you have little ones.. They can run around.. they also have corn hole in which you can play.. the service was overall good can't complain about that.. the food was avg though.. nothing really stood out BUT this is a very casual spot.. which is nice and the views Defin makes it worth it to come back..

A first visit after a baseball game at Papago sports complex. We tried the French dip and the chicken enchiladas. Both were exceptional. The chicken enchiladas had a very nice cream sauce and the chicken was well prepared and very flavorful. Unfortunately, our check got mixed up and there was a little bit of delay, getting our meals. However, they were very accommodating, apologetic and comped part of our meal as a result of their error. This is an awesome space for kids and adults and has a great view. Looking forward to trying their breakfast next.

Went here for brunch/lunch on Sunday. Pretty much just go here for the ambiance, and the nice big dog-friendly patio. I really enjoy that they have a nice grass area for you to let your dog stretch their legs, and have low top tables and couches that let you be nearby your dog. Our service was OK. Right after our server brought our waters over, he spilled one all over the table and didn't even say sorry or attempt to wipe it down, just left it there to run across the table! I thought that was pretty funny but no worries since we were outside. My chicken and waffles were a little measly on the tenders and burnt waffles, which I don't understand why they had charred them! Not a huge deal. Oh and they only have Pepsi products. That was truly the only bummer.

If you're looking for a family friendly venue that offers indoor and outdoor space, a fun vibe, great views, etc... you can't go wrong with Lou's. I've been with my family a handful of times and I have never been disappointed. I will say that my first couple of visits, I was a bit underwhelmed with the food, but I think it's gotten better and I have been impressed with it as of late. On a recent visit, I had a Bloody Mary and a Cobb Salad with Shrimp, and some sweet potato fries. My family also enjoyed wings and pizza. It looks like Lou's does a great job with catering to large groups as it always appears to have private functions going on... I need to keep this in mind for future! I will definitely be back, especially now that my kids seem to be taking up golf!

Solid golf course restaurant patio vibes, and decent food. A great place to enjoy a meal with friends and take in a sunset.

They were spread out on a dinner plate accompanied by a mound of spinach (to help fill the space?), which made the combo seem even more sparse. Wish server would have tipped us off not to order this. Went to see Brea Burns Sunday night. Show was supposed to start at 7. Opening act went on about 7:40 and played almost an hour = way too much. It was a shortish walk but we ended up accidentally going the long way, my suggestion is to walk behind the Hot n Juicy Crawfish restaurant through the pretty walkway and you land right at Filthy Animal, which has DDG as part of it. We were led back to a secret-ish area and sat next to the entrance, it really is a beautiful space with a kinda groovy vibe. My friend and I wore sparkly ensembles to fit the vibe. It wasn't very busy on a Wednesday evening and we arrived during happy hour so we had the edamame hummus & chicken tendies plus two drinks each. I had a margarita & lemon drop, my friend had a Ramos gin fizz & bees knees. The hummus was excellent, I liked the pairing of the creamy texture with crispy plantain chips and sweet pomegranate pieces. You would think chicken tendies would be kind of boring but they were actually so delicious paired with a gochujang sauce and a spicy aioli sauce. We literally left no crumbs! The staff was very attentive and sweet, we were finished with food and drinks about 90 minutes later and most of that was us yapping.

The chicken tenders were fire!!! What is lacking on this occasion was service. The server that we had was so unattentative. I have never been in a cocktail lounge in my life and had to beg for drinks. Our server would wait until every drinks was made for all of her tables before bringing out drinks. It was ridiculous. She was nice but seemed high. I ended up only having 2 drinks. We would have ordered more but they have 90min max seating and we didn't event get drinks for the first 30min. No exaggeration. Also one of my drinks I had to send back. My apple martini tasted like soap. It was like they did clean the glass after giving a soap bath. No bueno. So they need to get their service to match the vibe of a true cocktails lounge. Yes it is a 70s vibe but doesn't mean the lackadaisical style service. I would come back and try again. The music, the atmosphere and the food was good. They gotta get these cocktails together and service. We ended up walking to nearby competitors and that was money lost for DDG.

What we didn't realize at the time was that we had stumbled upon one of those dishes that would stick with us! So when Liquor Pig closed, we were genuinely sad to see it go, but then delighted to learn that the same chef was spearheading Wayward and, most importantly, that the legendary bone marrow poutine made its way onto the new menu. And thankfully, it's still just as memorable! The bone marrow is incredibly luscious, rich, and decadent, and the whole dish is the perfect indulgent pairing for Wayward's creative cocktails. The portion is also a great size for two people to share, especially since it's definitely a rich dish. We also tried the Jaew Chicken which was tasty and definitely a little different from what I'd normally order. It was a nice addition to the meal, but honestly, the poutine is the reason we'll keep coming back to this place! While walking through the restaurant, I noticed quite a few tables enjoying the bone in short rib taco board and those portions are serious. That platter could easily feed four people, so it's definitely something to keep in mind if you're dining with a group. All in all, I'm happy that Wayward has kept one of my favorite dishes from the Liquor Pig days alive.
