Corned Beef & Swiss Scramble

The food here was REALLY good! They had some items on the menu you wont find at most breakfast places, but I was not adventurous enough to try them. Parking is hard... and they state they are handicap accessible but you had to walk up a few steps to get inside, and an employee parked on the street right in front of the restaurant which left one less spot. I did not see any handicap spots as their parking lot is closed due to seating. Our waitress was nice, and attentive.

This spot had been on my list for a while, and I'm glad I finally checked it out. It gets pretty packed, and since it's a small, home-style building, there can be a bit of a wait. Luckily, my partner and I are early birds ...we arrived right before the crowd and only waited a few minutes. I ordered the veggie omelet and added bacon. It was large, filling, and full of flavor. The sourdough was perfect. The potatoes were good, though not the best I've had. Customer service was fast and friendly, which made the experience even better. My only real complaint was the seating. We were placed at a corner table next to another party, and they ended up pushing their table into ours, so we had to share space. I know some places do this, but it seemed like it only happened to us. I prefer having my own space, so being that close, hearing their conversation and trying to be mindful of theirs space was a bit of a downer. My partner ordered the banana pancakes, which come as three large stacks, and wow, they were delicious. He also got the traditional breakfast plate, and the sausage links were amazing (Italian-style, which I really enjoyed). Overall, we had a great experience and definitely plan to return. There were several other items on the menu that we'd love to try next time. Ps, paring spot is small and only for handicap. Street parking mainly. If you park across on pch there should be plenty os parking.

Once upon a time, this Faerie Queen and her group of magical friends decided this cute spot was the perfect place to meet up for a good chat and some delicious food. We were served by the wonderful, Antoinette, who shared the many specials with us. Wow! This place has quite an extensive menu! I enjoyed the avocado toast with an extra side of potatoes, and a peppermint latte. All were delicious! I love how this restaurant is within our housing community! The end.

All the staff were very friendly, our server was Antoinette and she's amazing! The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was spacious and peaceful. We received excellent service, the owner, Joey, was incredibly friendly and we would definitely recommend the restaurant 100% and return soon! Keep up that cheerful attitude when serving your customers; it was a wonderful experience!

It's a sweet little duck atop my hazelnut latte! How cute is he?

I come here often and every time I do, it's tasty. The servers are very nice. However, it gets a little slow when they're busy, but that's to be expected. I really look forward to the hazelnut latte, but the hazelnut coffee is also fantastic. It's a chill little place and the only real downside is that there is one bathroom for the tire restaurant.

I had been years ago and I remember how delicious the food was so we finally got a chance to come back for breakfast. It looked like there were a lot of people waiting but when we found a parking spot (street parking only everyone, so be advised it might take some time to find a parking spot) the wait time was actually only 10-15 min. There are some tables outside for dining but we were seated inside. Although a little snuck it is still walkable. But also keep in mind if you are a voluptuous person such as myself, it will be a bit tight unless you sit outside. The owner was hustling, making sure everyone was taken care of, taking out orders and seating people. He was really friendly and the servers and hostess was amazing too. Now what you came here for, the freakin food. Was it as great as I remember you ask? Yes, yes it was. I ordered the steak and eggs special, and my dad and sister had the corned beef and hash. Very gourmet said my father. I really enjoyed my steak, very well seasoned and cooked perfectly medium. The price was not bad either. It was $100ish for 3 specialty coffees, 3 entres and a kids meal. You get the choice of a side and a bread- which includes biscuits and gravy. I would recommend checking this place out, just get there early.

Story of how "The Crooked Duck" got its name.

Amazing food, amazing service. Just happened to stumble by and came as a walk in of 2 at 11:00/11:30ish on a Friday and got seated right away. Will 100% be back. I got a spicy Bloody Mary (our waitress asked if I wanted blue cheese and bacon) which of course I said yes to. AMAZING. I also got the Gorgonzola bacon burger that was cooked a perfect med (as asked) and my boyfriend got the chicken fried steak with this gravy that reminded me of my late grandmas recipe. The owner, Joey, told us about the story on how "The Crooked Duck" got its name which I will put in the picture down below. I'm definitely a foodie and loved everything about this place.

The Crooked Deck has long held a special place among my top breakfast destinations, and a recent experience there perfectly encapsulated why. Just the other day, after enjoying a delightful morning meal with one of my daughters, I inadvertently left behind a small container with our leftovers. It wasn't until I had returned home that I realized my oversight. Upon calling the restaurant, I was initially quite surprised to learn that the leftovers had been discarded so quickly. However, without a moment's hesitation, the incredibly accommodating staff immediately offered a solution: they would prepare a fresh half-portion of my order for me to collect. When I arrived back at The Crooked Deck, I was met with an even more remarkable display of generosity and thoughtfulness. To my absolute delight, they hadn't just prepared a half-portion, but an entirely new, full breakfast, lovingly packaged. This unexpected kindness meant I could still bring home a complete, delicious meal for my other daughter, who had been eagerly anticipating her share of the "leftovers." Such extraordinary dedication to their patrons is precisely why The Crooked Deck consistently delivers an unparalleled experience. Their commitment to outstanding customer service is truly remarkable, transforming what could have been a minor disappointment into yet another reason to laud their establishment. This wonderful restaurant truly never ceases to impress!

I visited the Crooked Duck on a Friday. Their parking is mostly street parking and unfortunately for me, Fridays is their street sweeping days. I had to park a short distance away. The host greeted me and sat me down fairly quickly. I ordered a classic two egg breakfast and subbed my toast for biscuits and gravy. I also got a glass of orange juice which was filled to the brim (we love that). Decent breakfast. I got a slice of carrot cake to go which was very hot but I didn't get to taste it until much later in the day. It tasted a bit burnt but ok otherwise.

The espresso was spot on. The other drinks were a miss. The mimosa arrived at the end of the meal and only after flagging down the waitress nearly half an hour later. Sad. The owner was not stop since we arrived. It shows he has love for his place. The corned beef hash was fabulous. The pancakes were perfect. Buttermilk soft and fluffy without being doughy. Excellent. Took one star for the drinks being sooo late. Bummer.

Great service! I got street parking. Tried the special chicken tostada salad.., it was bomb! The carrot cake is a family recipe so I had to give it a try. Loved it! Staff is always friendly, casual home feels. Check it out!

Have not been here in years! Wanted some Mimosas and some good old fashion breakfast. Went to this location on a Friday morning. It was busy but was still able to get seated within 10 mins. Greeted and seated was prompt! Ordered a bottle of Mimosa, omelette and country fried steak breakfast plate. Received my food within 10 mins. Service was fast! Long story short, we had a good time. We were treated nicely and the food was good. This place is compact, reminds me of a house. Limited to indoor seating with optional outdoors. The two things that stands out to be a negative but did not influence my decision on rating this place 5 stars. THe parking and restroom. Parking is very difficult. Only 1 restroom with a capacity of 100 plus. Other then that it was a good experience. I recommend.

Ask the Community - The Crooked Duck

Are you no longer offering dinner?

No more dinner. However, many of our dinner favorites are still available on the lunch menu. Our current business hours as of 1/8/24 are 8am-2:30pm daily.

Do you guys still have the $4 mimosas?

We do! Monday-Thursday from 8am-2:30pm (Excluding holidays). Cheers!

Will they be open on 4th of July?

Yes! Open 8am-3pm. Cheers!

How long is the wait?

Hi Jeff! Please give us a call for the most current wait times - 562.494.5118. Thanks!

I see steps at the entrance. Is there a wheelchair-friendly option, and if so, is it past the garbage cans?

We have had a wheelchair entrance since the day we opened! Rear of the building, follow the signs.

Is there a corkage fee?

Our corkage fee is $10, and no corkage fee on Wednesdays!

Do they have a wait list for breakfast?

There were open tables on Friday morning at 8:30 when we went, probably a wait on the weekend though.

Upscale Restaurant on 2nd Street with Delicious Food…read more I've visited Saint & Second on multiple occasions: for drinks, a casual lunch, and my birthday dinner. Reservations are fairly easy to get, which make it an optimal choice if I'm looking to have a nice meal. The ambiance of Saint & Second is what sets it apart from other Belmont Shore restaurants. There's indoor seating and rooftop seating upstairs, and both areas are designed impeccably. The food menu changes every few months, which is great because it allows the chefs to experiment with new menu items, but I have been left missing past items. When I returned for the third time for my favorite hummus, I found that it was discontinued for a nice, but less tasty green hummus (which leaned more into an avocado flavor than traditional hummus flavor). Overall, if you'd like to return to Saint and Second, you should expect some changes to menu items every few months and plan accordingly. One appetizer I'd recommend is the tuna on crispy rice. This is a consistent item with great flavors that trump other tuna crispy rice dishes I've had at other restaurants. The amount of fish on this item is generous. If you are celebrating your birthday here like I did, they offer a delcious smores-flavored dessert. However, this dessert is not complimentary, and we were charged without the server informing us of the dessert's price. Overall, in terms of food, this restaurant offers a fresh array of menu items. I believe the server told us that their kitchen is a scratch kitchen, which contributes to the great quality of the food.

This place popped up, and it was happy hour. So we thought why not. We got lucky and found parking close (rare for that street). And walked over and immediately loved the vibe. We walked in and were greeted immediately, and then brought upstairs. The decor on the way up was awesome. The old school nature, with paintings and abstract vintage pieces.. love. It felt like we were in an old industrial building. We were surprised that it was pretty empty when we got up there. We sat at the bar, and love the decor upstairs too. There's a view of the street from up there as well that's beautiful. The bartender greeted us fairly quickly, and we each ordered a speciality cocktail on their happy hour. Both were delicious. I will say that the prices are a bit steep for me. Very glad we came during the happy hour. But really want to return to try the food and more drinks. Maybe on a special date night out!

From the moment we sat down, her attitude was rude and dismissive. She questioned my boyfriend's drink order after he had already told her what he wanted. Even after I told her I wasn't ordering an alcoholic drink, she still looked at both of us and asked, "Are you guys sure you're over 21?" The way she said it came across as condescending and unnecessary. After bringing our appetizer, she disappeared for a long time. We hadn't eaten all day and were starving, yet she repeatedly walked past our table to check on the tables around us without even acknowledging us. It made an already frustrating experience even worse. The food wasn't very good, but Elizabeth's attitude made it even worse. At one point, she asked my boyfriend if there was a problem. He calmly replied, "Yeah, and it's not the food." Instead of trying to understand or resolve the issue, she responded in a passive-aggressive tone, saying, "Then what is it, life?" Her comment was rude, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary. It caught us off guard and made the situation even more uncomfortable. We left feeling completely disrespected and unwelcome. Whether we were being judged, profiled, or simply treated differently, that's exactly how the experience made us feel. No customer should be made to feel that way. If there were an option to give 0 stars, I absolutely would. Save your time and money and eat somewhere you'll be treated with respect.

We had a reservation for six and the hostess greeted us and sat us right away. Our server, Nate, was fantastic. He knew the menu and answered all of our questions. He even explained how some of the drinks were made. Later we found out he was actually one of the bartenders helping out as a server for the night. Which made sense considering how well he knew how the drinks were made. He was attentive and checked on us often to make sure everything was going well. One thing that made him stand out was, he actually conversed with us rather than just asking if we needed anything and then leaving. The Old Fashioned was one of the smoothest and best I've probably ever had. My nephew ordered the Ube Painkiller after Nate described how it was made. I had a sip, and the ube flavor really came through without overpowering the drink and it was perfectly matched with the dark rum, which Nate said came from the Caribbean. The Brussels sprouts had a nice mix of tender and crispy pieces that gave additional texture. The calamari was tender and the pesto style sauce paired real good with it. The Thai curry sea bass was flavorful, flaky, and had the right amount of spice. The cioppino had a rich shellfish flavor in the broth and I appreciated that the tomato base didn't have such an acidic taste. We also shared the tomahawk, which was juicy, cooked perfectly, and had a sprinkle of coarse salt that really brought out the flavor. Overall, we had a great experience. Happy hour was happening which we took advantage of. It was 4.00 off appetizer, 2.00 off draft wine and beer. Also, they made sure that our little pup was well taken care of as well. Food wise, an order of the poke wrap. Nice chunks of ahi with a scoop of rice, lettuce, avocado and wasabi sauce. It was good but a little messy. As it would be with all of the lettuce wraps. The steamed mussels which is a must. The broth was delicious and served with two nice thick slices of toasted bread. Decent size mussels cooked deliciously in the broth. A must try. Lastly the calamari which was tossed with jalapeños. Both deep fried and quite tasty. Nice crunch to it but not overly cooked. That was also served with two dipping sauce. Everything was delicious. Towards the end of the meal, Melinda noticed that a bug was in my wine which she was very sweet about and made sure to take care of it. The simple little gesture was greatly appreciative. The whole experience was excellent. Everyone was the sweetest and friendliest. Will definitely be back.
