Two Words . . VERY RICH I keep forgetting that this restaurant is essentially serving Southern style comfort food in an upscale setting. Southern comfort food as a general rule just doesn't sit well with me anymore and I'm going to be very transparent and bare my soul a little bit here but here goes . . . Ever since being on GLP1's, I've developed a really complicated relationship with comfort food. Foods that are rich, buttery, creamy or fatty now hit me completely differently than they used to. It's almost like my body immediately goes into shutdown mode afterwards. I feel heavy, exhausted and like I've instantly ballooned even if the portions themselves aren't massive. For the longest time I honestly thought it was simply the richness of the food itself but now I realize it's because my digestion just can't process heavier comfort foods the same way anymore. Suddenly... it all makes sense. The food itself here is VERY good. Properly seasoned, well prepared, beautifully presented... absolutely no complaints there whatsoever. I simply have to become more mindful and strategic now with my menu selections no matter WHERE I dine. I chose the Creekstone Farm's NY Strip with the fabulous bone marrow which I KNOW is supposed to be incredibly nutrient rich and good for you... but honestly... it just about put me under afterwards. This dinner happened thanks to Ronnald M. and his sister Teris and it was our pre-opera dinner outing before seeing the fabulous Merry Widow at the Dr. Phillips Center. The Monroe is honestly a very good pre-concert restaurant choice because of both the atmosphere and location... I'm just personally learning that this new GLP1 reality means I can't approach menus the way I used to anymore.
One of our new favorite brunch spot in Orlando!!! It's the cutest location and had some really delicious and reasonably priced food. I got the Chicken and Waffles and it was one of the best I've ever hard!! So fresh and delicious and it also came with blueberries and a special butte. I'll be dreaming about these!!! They also had a great cocktail menu and I opted for a Sangria which was really refreshing and not overly sweet. We cannot wait to come back!
The deviled eggs are scrumptious and make a great start or could be whole meal. The have both fresh and fried jalapeno but aren't spicy! The roasted salmon was excellent with cauliflower and couscous. I also had their daily Monroe punch which truly packed a punch made from gin and fresh juices. Parking in the garage isn't cheap but the wait staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The place is really classy with lots of sofas and chairs to hang hour on for Happy Hours.
I came to The Monroe after a final with my girlfriends, and it was the perfect way to unwind. We had been here before and fell in love with the truffle fries, so we had to come back. The herb aioli was unlike anything I've had before and honestly made the dish. We also tried the General Tso's cauliflower. The flavor was great, but the breading was a little raw inside. We sat at the bar during lunchtime and loved the calm, laid-back vibe. The aesthetic is beautiful, and the service is always great. I would definitely come back, especially for the fries, and I would love to try it for dinner next time!
We had brunch at the Monroe today and it was fabulous! To start I got the seasonal vanilla iced coffee which was so good and the Bloody Mary. Then my friend I split the fried chicken! The fried chicken was some of the best I've had and I would 100% get it again. I also got the deviled eggs were fine it was on the heavier side. Our server was so great! One of our meals took awhile to come out but they took care of it which was nice. Parking was easy with two hour free to park outside. The overall ambiance was so cute! definitely has a retro vibe to it and it was great. Can't wait to try dinner here!
Perfect place for brunch! Everyone was super nice and accommodating as one in our group was gf/df. The manager came and checked in on everyone and was such a sweetie! It's in a pretty quiet area but the restaurant itself was pretty busy. This was one of the best bloody Mary's I've had so definitely don't skip! All of the food was delicious so you can't really go wrong with anything!
Got sat right away on a busy Easter brunch day & booked up reservations. Place is spacious with lots of detailed decor throughout the whole place Shrimp & grits were tasty, liked the Tabasco butter and nicely cooked shrimp Chicken & waffles had 3 pieces of thigh meat and 2 small waffles. 1 piece was gristly and not so good French toast looked fancy and tasted ok The star of the show was the white meat chicken tenders and fries on the kid's menu. I preferred the meat in these way more than for the chicken & waffles I don't know if it was astonishing or kinda sad that the best thing they had was a kid's meal but it was their same batter and fresh chicken and if I came back for brunch, I'd probably come back just for that
I went to the Monroe with a big group of girlfriends to celebrate my birthday. They were super accommodating and celebrated me well! Food is always amazing!! There's nothing on the menu that isn't worth getting! I love their Caesar salad and general saos cauliflower! The vibes are upscale American with SO many great spots for photos!
Shoutout to the bartender that overheard me telling my friend that I really just wanted some grilled chicken to go with the cauliflower and deviled eggs and said "oh we can totally do that." And they did! It was my first time sitting at the bar and a time was had! So fun and the food is great as always. Can't wait to go back!
I went to the Monroe for my birthday this year and I thought it would be a much better experience. The food was OK but nothing to brag about. I think my favorite part of the meal was the warm potato salad. My party and I tried several different items on the menu as you can see from the photos The meatloaf was pretty good and the fried chicken was delicious and everything was really tasty but just not worth the money that I paid for it. I wouldn't go all the way out to a restaurant just to have fried chicken. The cocktails were mostly ice and I probably wouldn't order cocktails there again or maybe I would try to order a different cocktail overall I didn't have that great of an experience which is unfortunate cause I was really looking forward to the place and disappointed me The service was good. I never really have major complaints. All I expect my waiter to do is bring my food and take my credit card at the end of the night. Ambience was good. It was a cold night in January but I still had a good time. the location is cool and I like the way the restaurant looks.
Just go. Do yourself the biggest favor and go. When I tell you everything here is just perfection, I mean it. From their service (shout out Stephanie & Dani!) to their vibes to their food! The aesthetic and vibes are immaculate - Its's fun with a hint of moodiness. I tried their Kung Pao Cauliflower and Fried Chicken. A few friends tried their salmon and burger. Their food was made thoughtfully with fresh ingredients and portions were excellent. Their fried chicken was salted to perfection with the right amount of spices and THAT CRISP will send you outta this world. I don't know how their chicken remained moist and tender! The Mac n cheese is also to die for - noodles were al dente with the right amount of cheese. I was here with a large group and Stephanie serviced us seamlessly. The entire staff was so nice and friendly! Catch the chef throwin the peace sign!
What an awesome vibe! I came with a few friends and we were all blown away. This is definitely going to be our new monthly meetup spot. We sat at the bar, which was a great choice. For food, I ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap and it was so good. I wasn't a huge fan of the chips it came with, so I also got a side of truffle fries and wow... those fries were everything. Absolutely worth it! For drinks, I started with the Monkey Paw it was strong, delicious, and perfectly balanced. I also tried the punch of the day, which ended up being my favorite. And of course, we couldn't leave without a lemon drop shot, which was made perfectly! I loved the inside decor and really appreciated how much seating there is. It feels fun, comfortable, and welcoming all at once. I already can't wait to come back!

Stopped in to The Monroe on a random weekday after reading all the hype on Yelp and after dining in, I get it. The location is odd being tucked within what feels like a gentrified new housing area based on the bottom of an apartment building. I was lucky to snag street parking right in front of what felt like a slow lunch rush. Otherwise they offer additional parking at Union West garage. The space itself was captivating to say the least. Wide open with a beautifully centered bar, comfortable couches, and a coffee bar with floor to ceiling windows making the space bright, open and inviting. We came with no reservation but I could see how planning ahead on a busy weekend night is beneficial. The service was great and very attentive and most of the dishes we ordered were top notch. Such as the smash burger and fried chicken sandwich. The burger came with a burger sauce with melted cheese between two patties cooked at just the right temperature. While the fried chicken came with a massive sized crispy chicken topped with a saucy slaw. Both a table hit. While the hubby's steak was just okay. All three served with seasoned steak style fries. I'd come back to see what the rest of the menu has to offer given how much we enjoyed our first visit. read more

Went to Orlando for a day trip, checked out one of the city's Yelp collections for recommendations and this place popped up. Reading all the reviews, my friend and I had to make sure to add this to our itinerary. The place was surprisingly spacious inside with a bar near the center, lounge area at the entrance, a shuffleboard in the back, and the seating area to the left when we entered. We were brought to our seats quickly despite it being busy. Loved the artwork and decorative accents around the place. We ordered the Pork Belly S'mores and the Fried Chicken. The appetizer and main dish could easily be split between two people. The pork belly was flavorful and I'm still thinking about that miso marshmallow concoction as I'm typing this. The fried chicken was good along with the sides--nothing remarkable. The highlight truly was those s'mores. Yum. read more
Great fried chicken. The chicken sandwich was so big. It was juicy but the batter was a bit thick so had to take some of it off. The fries were very tasty. The best part of the meal was general tso cauliflower-tasted just like the chicken. You must eat it hot bc once cold it doesn't have the same texture. The service was good and the atmosphere was cozy. However it was very loud in there when the music wasn't blasting. Maybe it is the set up of the restaurant but people's conversation could be heard as it echoed inside. read more

We came with friends for the first time. We can't believe this new area of Orlando and how much it has changed. The Monroe feels like you are in a big city up north. We ordered the fried chicken dinner with mac and cheese and succotash. It was delicious. The chicken breast was a bit dry for my liking but the wing and thigh were tender, crispy and moist. The Mac and cheese is one of the best I've ever had. The ambiance and service is 5 star. We can't wait to come back for Happy Hour and brunch. Such a beautiful restaurant. read more
If you're looking for a down-home cooking but with the more elegant vibe, this is the place for you. We had the shrimp and grits which had a little kick to it but was still good. The grits were creamy. The chicken and waffles. The chicken was very crispy. The waffles were airy so a whole nother different vibe to Chicken and waffles. But the flavors combined were awesome. I had no complaints. The waiter was very attentive. Great drink selections. Something for everybody and I feel some people don't talk about it but the bathrooms were clean. read more
I have been wanting to visit The Monroe for a while, and I am so happy that I finally did. The interior design is expertly done, and the restaurant is decorated so beautifully. We came right when they opened, as were quickly sat. The service was great, and we never had to worry about our drinks being empty. I started the meal by ordering the Twisted Collins drink and the Crispy Cauliflower from the happy hour menu. The drink was light and very refreshing. The cauliflower was perfectly crispy and very delicious. For my main, I ordered the Spinach Lasagna. I thought it was pretty good, and considering I usually don't enjoy mushrooms, I thought these mushrooms were pretty tasty. My husband got the Fried Chicken, which he raved about long after dinner was over. I stole a couple of fries off his plate and I thought they were spectacular. The Chocolate Cake was very yummy, and not too sweet, which I love. The flaky salt on top paired so well with the rich chocolate flavor. We were too full to finish it so we took the rest home for a late-night snack. My husband and I have already talked about coming back here in the future, and I can't wait to explore the menu more. read more

Great location with easy access to parking whether it's street parking or using the garage. I met up with a friend for a girls dinner but this can definitely also be a date night vibe or even family friendly. The restaurant is very spacious with an open kitchen. Hostess was very attentive when I walked in and when seated out server also approached the table quickly. I would be back for the chicken dinner which is what their known for. I forgot to take a picture of the whipped ricotta but I would get that again over their buffalo egg rolls. I did try the seven rings cocktail but wouldn't get it again, it was mostly ice but their chicken dinner was definitely a 5/5. Thank you read more
I've been wanting to try happy hour here for awhile. This is the nicest restaurant I've been to in a long time. It's almost decorated like someone's house. The bartenders were really friendly and made a show of making the drinks. I had never heard of a pisco sour, but it was really citrusy and so good. The espresso martini was really good also. UPDATE: Just visited The Monroe again for my birthday today and it's genuinely my new favorite restaurant. We came for brunch and the vibes are just so cutie. I love how it doesn't feel cramped even when it's busy and it's full of natural sunlight (but not in a way that's over heating). We set a reservation for 11:30 and we appreciated that they made sure to send us a text warning the AC was out but were working to get it back up and running. That wasn't going to stop us from coming of course but I appreciate letting us know so we could make that decision ourselves before heading to the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. I took my partner there for the first time and he was very impressed with everything to the ambiance, presentation, and taste. One day I'll come back for dinner. My only suggestions (more like selfish desires) is that I wish they offered more selection for drinks. They don't offer any type of cream liquor, so no baileys, RumChata, or a white chocolate liquor. As a girl who is not a lightweight at, I like an espresso martini with baileys since I don't prefer dark coffee drinks. The options feel limited unless you have regular half and half (which can taste kinda boring). Which of course, was my own decision to order a White Russian then to put half and half in the espresso martini. I could have swore I got baileys in it last time but maybe i remembered wrong. I also do think a matcha martini would go crazy on their menu. Not a lot of places offer that in Orlando and it feels so fitting for their vibe. First visit today to celebrate our Mother's birthday and we really enjoyed it. We ordered a Two piece Fried Chicken with Macaroni Salad and a Cucumber/Tomato/Bell pepper salad and dinner roll($19), a Burger with fries ($20) and a Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken ($21). Everything was tasty. The Fried Chicken was moist and really nice, the Grilled Chicken on the Caesar Salad was perfectly seasoned and moist. The Burger was a bit messy with 2 smashed Pattie's, cheese, sauce, onions and pickles and really tasty too. Our server was Freddy and he was wonderful...attentive and kind. He even brought my Mom a birthday cake pop with a candle. The dining room is comfortable, rustic yet elegant and very nice. This is a restaurant that I can recommend for sure and we would order everything we ordered this visit again. However, I saw the Fried Chicken sandwich as it was leaving the kitchen window and I'm pretty sure that is what I will order next visit. My best friend and I finally got a chance to check out this spot for happy hour, and it did not disappoint! We've been to other restaurants by the same company, but this was our first time trying this one and now we're wondering why we waited so long. We started with coffee (because, priorities). I ordered the Elvis latte and loved it. The balance of coffee, banana, and bacon cream was spot on--rich, unique, and so satisfying. My friend went with a chai tea, and they were able to customize it to be a bit sweeter with brown sugar. It was delicious and comforting. From the happy hour menu, we decided to share a couple of items. We went with the deviled eggs which were creamy with just the right kick from the jalapeños. The French onion dip that was paired with the crispiest fries ever. So addictive. Lastly the Pimento cheese dip which was usually served with pork rinds, but they were out and gave us crackers instead, but still amazing. The vibe was super cute, and our waitress was attentive, friendly, and helped guide our food choices perfectly. We're already planning our return next time for dinner! read more
Stopped in for lunch with coworkers. We got some app like hummus which was my fav also got cauliflower a d pimento cheese dip. I entree I had to try their fried chicken since that's what they are know for. Got the two piece which was a wing and thigh. I would recommend getting the 3 piece. One of the best fried chicken in town. In my top 3. My sides was cucumber salad which was very good and slaw. The slaw was good but didn't care for the radishes slices. In both sides I did found a piece a macaroni in each one. If someone had allergies that could be bad. Others enjoyed their lunch as well. The boss ordered one of each of their desserts. I enjoyed the bread pudding and their Oreo pie. Service was good as well. Will go back. read more

Finally had the chance to try The Monroe and I am a bit disappointed. The service was great and the ambiance of the place was amazing. The food on the other hand... not so much. I ordered the Flat Iron Steak. It comes with truffle fries and chimichurri. The truffle fries and steak weren't bad but super salty. You could definitely make or buy a better chimichurri. I also tried the Monroe's Chicken, it was good but a little bit dry. The seasonings were great though. Overall, the salt was overbearing and all you could taste. read more

The Monroe has such a cozy and eclectic vibe! All of the employees were super friendly and welcoming. The menu has lots of great and fresh options and we really had such a great experience. I got the Chai Latte to drink. It was your average Chai Latte, I would get it again but it also isn't one I would go out of my way to get. But definitely a good choice if you are coming to The Monroe already. To eat, I get the Florida Cobb which I really enjoyed. It tasted super fresh and all of the ingredients works really well together. It was filling, although I definitely wanted more because it tasted so good. Such a fun environment and I love the unique decor inside. We will definitely be back! read more
I was really surprised how much I liked this place. I thought it would be another trendy place with overpriced average to below average food for some reason. I was wrong. It was so good. I had the fried chicken and it was some of the best fried chicken I've had. It was very flavorful and juicy, not dry at all. It was definitely breaded in house and tasted like homemade. The cucumber, watermelon salad was the perfect side for the chicken and the roll was so hot and fresh out of the oven. Service was great! I'll be back. I would like to try other things on the menu but the chicken was so good, it would be hard not to order that over and over! Prices were pretty fair for the quality of the food. I hate when I'm overcharged for crap food and that wasn't the case. Oh, and Decor and ambiance are perfect too :) read more

Honestly, this place is GORGEOUS! The aesthetic is so lovely. The food, drinks, and service however left a lot to be desired. The initial server we were greeted by seemed to be ignoring us and instead of acknowledging us when we spoke, she'd just tell her coworker our orders/questions. I found that to be unnerving and it wholly soured the experience. The chicken sandwich was definitely big and I loved the crunchiness of it but the flavor wasn't very good and I only ate about half of it. read more

Excellent food, service, and delicious cortado!! I ended up ordering two!! Wish I could remember our servers name because she was excellent. So, the plate looks good... but looks can be deceiving.. The chicken and waffles were disgusting. The waffle tasted like it had been soaked in oil after being cooked and the chicken had a thick layer of fat, visibly yellow adipose tissue, under the skin. It left a thick layer of oil coating my mouth; I can't imagine eating it and enjoying it. Mimosas were fine, not enough juice. The cinnamon roll was tasty, but it wasn't a cinnamon roll at all. Dry and the only flavor was the orange. Service was also slow, although it seems they were short staffed. read more

Pros: I love local restaurants that participate in Magical Dining Month. It's really good for the public and the city as a whole. Ambiance is so sleek. It's in a great part of downtown and the aesthetic when you enter is chic coffee shop library/old school diner. I love it. Service is top notch. We are always very well taken care of when we come here. Food is out of this world. Refreshingly different from other, boring MDM menus around town. Cons: They were out of a certain dessert on the MDM menu, one-third of the reason we even came here, and they wouldn't hear of doing substitutions from their main menu. They want you to feel high class, but then pull stuff like this. Tips: Call ahead and make sure their online menus are accurate. Eat their fried chicken. They do that very very well. read more

This restaurant has a lot of potential! We came here with high hopes and the food overall was pretty good. Our let downs were the limited menu, the spotty speed of the service midway through the dining experience, and the overall value. The Wagyu Burger was $29 and with all the sauce, I couldn't even taste the Wagyu or anything special about the patty. We were going to order wine and let the waitress know before our food arrived, but by the time she returned to us to take our wine order, Our food had arrived and was halfway eaten. Overall our food wasn't bad and we loved the vibe and location, but likely wouldn't be back if we were locals except for the Mac and Cheese. That was a winner worth repeating! read more

I recently went to the Monroe and ordered the fried chicken. It was really good! It was crunchy and well seasoned. All the sides that come with it were also excellent. I would definitely recommend ordering this on your next visit. I also appreciated the atmosphere and decor. I went with a friend for brunch and will be going back! read more
If you're an Orlando local or visiting, make sure to add The Monroe to your bucket list. As locals, we're always looking for the next best restaurant and I think we may have found it. For starters, the interior of this restaurant is precious. It's a coffee shop by day and a restaurant by night. We loved the colorful decorations. As an appetizer, we opted to try the pork belly s'mores and the buffalo chicken egg rolls. If you like sweet, make sure to try the pork belly. It was a tad bit sweet for us, but others may enjoy. The egg rolls were to die for. We both chose the fried chicken sandwich for our meal. I subbed for brussel sprouts and he subbed for cucumber slaw. How delicious! Our service was excellent and our waiter was lovely. Wish we remembered his name. We can't wait to try again! read more

Stopped in here for a quick bite and a few drinks. We were sat before our reservation time and the service was quick. My man and I each had a mimosa and we shared a burger. This place has one of the best burgers I've had in a long time! It was so good and juicy. The atmosphere is so cute and I would come here just to hang out if I lived in the area. I sadly didnt take a picture of my food because it was so good I devoured it. read more
5 Stars for an incredible ambiance, fun cocktails, and delicious food! Ok, so to be clear, this isn't necessarily my normal preference in cuisine (southern/new American fusion, fried chicken, etc), but my friend needed a rec for somewhere to host her birthday dinner downtown and I knew it would be The Monroe. I hadn't been in ages, but was again blown away by the thoughtfully decorated and curated interior. They also have an exterior "porch" that I imagine is divine when the weather permits. Our server, Fred, was incredibly kind and gave us great recommendations (and took some GREAT photos of the group outside afterwards). I ordered the seasonal kale salad with seared salmon added and a side of fries. The kale salad was good, but a bit heavy handed on the dressing. It was one of the lighter options on the menu and the salmon was incredible, so I didn't mind! The fries are SO GOOD. Fred recommended the sauce they use on their burger for the fries and it was a fantastic recommendation. I appreciated that they had mocktails as well as beer, wine, and cocktails, as a few people in our part weren't drinking alcohol. The rest of us enjoyed some espresso martinis and the fried bread pudding dessert (big enough to share among the table!) and were more than satisfied. One note is that they use a cold brew for their espresso martinis, which was a bit of a bummer since I see they have a full espresso bar at the front and I would've hoped they could offer that option. But that's just a preference thing on my part. Overall a perfect spot for a group dinner with alllll the vibes. read more

Who doesn't love a girls night? I know that I do. We decided to visit this restaurant since my previous experience was excellent. The top two things that I had that night were the macaroni and cheese and the pomegranate margarita. That margarita hit the absolute spot. It was so delicious. The mac & cheese had an excellent crust nice and creamy not dry. One of the best restaurant mac & cheese is that I've had. The jerk chicken for me was just OK. I come from a Caribbean background so my taste is pretty particular. I also did not care for the coconut collard greens. They were still a bit greedy and the coconut flavor just didn't balance well for me. The whipped ricotta was decent. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. It was. I would say a five out of 10. The service was excellent I believe our waitress name was Isa. We also had the buffalo chicken eggrolls. Those were hands-down delicious. All in all the restaurant would get a four out of five star stars. I definitely would go back for that pomegranate. Margarita would go back for the mac & cheese and to explore other items on the menu. read more
