Came into The Morris and went straight for the duck -- no regrets. Super clean plate overall. The duck was the standout: rich, perfectly cooked, not greasy, just solid flavor all the way through. Paired it with some bread, charcuterie, pickled veggies on the side -- everything felt balanced, nothing overdone. You can tell they know what they're doing here. Simple, but executed right. Easy 5 stars.

I had an ok experience at the Morris. The service was overall great! Very attentive and knowledgeable, but two of us arrived earlier than one of our friends. We wanted to get something light while we waited but they told we had to order everything at the same time. Wasnt mad about it.... I just wanted some carbs. The food was interesting. The duck was great. I loved the sauce on the truffle gnocchi... but i swear i didn't see the gnocchi or tasted it in my mouth. Our party definitely debated whether we were just uncultured or if there really wasn't any gnocchi. The salad and chicken nuggets were good.

The famous Chartreuse slushie! It was definitely fun to drink.

All in all I think The Morris is a fine experience and worth the buzz. I'm not sure it's a hall of famer but it's a very nice spot with good service and good food, so there's not a lot not to like. I had been a very long time ago (over 10 years ago) and I remember thinking it was good but not great. Last week I was reading an article on Chartreuse, which I love, and was startled to see this place called out as one of the great spots for it in the country. Who knew? I of course immediately booked a reservation. I had the famed Chartreuse slushy and I did like it a lot. The shaved ice dilutes the flavor of the Chartreuse but there's enough of it in every sip to make it a very pleasurable libation. A buddy and I shared a Little Gems salad (loaded with very tasty bacon lardon chunks that were not too salty or fatty), chicken nuggets, I think Crudites, the famous half duck and some fries. Everything tasted pretty good. I did love the plethora of fresh, tasty grilled vegetables that appear throughout the menu. My only criticisms. would be the chicken nuggets were two tiny bits on skewers, each the size of a large almond. They were tasty but for a small biteful I did not see the value in it at all and wouldn't order it again. The duck was pretty good. Most duck is fatty and this was too, not much can be done about that. It was definitely smoked and cooked beautifully and the best part was the breast in the middle. I wish the entire entree could have been that but then of course it would have been 5 times the price. Service was on point and professional. Drinks were pretty good. This is somewhere between 4 and 5 stars but I'm going with 5 because my criticisms are outweighed by the quality of everything else.

We ate at The Morris for dinner on Tuesday. The chicken nuggets were... alarmingly small. The two tiny corndog looking things were the entire $14 dish. While delicious, they had us worried we didn't order enough food. They do an extremely tasty and simple charcuterie plate. I enjoyed our selections and the portions were large for two. I would have liked to have more people to try more things but what we had (pate, brillat savarin cheese and the chicken liver mousse) were delicious. The little gem salad was tasty but... I hate to say this because I normally don't have enough dressing... but there was too much dressing. I think it just needed to be slightly more tossed... The half duck platter was delightful - great veggies, great duck au jus, and the meat was tender and flavorful. I really enjoyed this and it would translate well to a large format dinner. Dessert was buckwheat donuts which were delicious although softer than I was expecting. I would definitely go back. (But likely would skip the fries, Brussels sprouts and the chicken nuggets - first off, we over ordered and second the fries were only ok, the Brussels sprouts were good but the main had lots of veggies, and the chicken nuggets were tasty but ttiiiinnyyy.)

The Morris offers outdoor dining that's perfect if you want to bring your dog. They provide blankets and heat lamps to keep you warm on those chilly San Francisco nights. Parking isn't too bad--there's plenty of street parking, though it can get a little scarce later in the evening, especially on weekends. Service was excellent. Even though I made a last-minute reservation for an outdoor table, the staff kindly offered me a spot inside. I'm grateful. Our server was incredibly attentive and never made us feel rushed. One unique touch: their house wine is charged by how much you drink, which is great if you just want a little. They're also thoughtful about portions and won't let you over-order, perfect if your eyes tend to be bigger than your stomach. The food was outstanding. The chocolate pudding is a must-try, and you can even get a half order of the donuts if you want to order two desserts. The charred broccoli with squid is delicious--truly a feast of flavors. And, of course, don't miss their famous smoked duck and charcuterie board.

Long time patriot, first time reviewer. I love The Morris. Paul has great sidewalk parties. Gavin is the best and Chevis always comes over to say hello. Booked this place for a late bday din with some girlfriends. Never disappointed in any of the staples or the rotating feast of goodies. The new try: Chicken Nuggets with caviar ranch. So tasty!! The duck NEVER disappoints. And I love that they have Rize Up sourdough. I started buying Azikiwee's during lockdown and he always warms this bread lovers soul. Other notes: get the chartreuse slushie. Always a hit!

We stopped for drinks and snacks last Friday but ended up staying much longer than initially planned, because it was all just so good! I'll start off with saying it is pricey, but if worth it if you can go. Personally I had the Pom Queen which is N/A by default but they will add a spirit to it if asked, and it was super refreshing and light. My second drink was something with coconut / pineapple, like a much more adult pina colada but again, total knockout. The wines are also good and they have an impressive selection. The snacks and desserts, of which we thought we would only get one or two things, are also amazing. Delicious fries, good selection of cheeses, knockout pudding / salty cookie and the doughnuts. The cherry on top was they are dog-friendly outside, have plenty of heaters, and the service was top-notch!!

The Chicory and beets salad was a great starter.

We had a fantastic night. Enjoying a great ambiance, music and lighting. From starter to ending, all the plates were amazing and flavorful. Service was good and effective.

I went here earlier in the month for an intimate celebratory dinner. The service was splendid but the duck skin was rather chewy. I understand that duck is their specialty but the skin was very hard to get through even if I had sawn through it and chewed it a ton. Perhaps this is just my personal preference. The Melville wine was good but the white wine we had (the name is escaping me, i think it was the sur la nez?) was realllly nice. These wines were recommended by the waiter/sommelier based on what we had ordered so those wines paired nicely.

I haven't felt this conflicted about a restaurant in a long while. I've been wanting to cross this place off my SF list, and I confess that I had high hopes. The thing is, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't unforgettable either. The service was fantastic! Everyone was genuinely kind--our server was so polite. Now, the food... I felt like something was missing, though I couldn't quite put my finger on it. We could definitely taste the amount of labor behind every dish, but not a single one truly stood out. At this price point, it's definitely a special-occasion place (for my budget, anyway). For the amount we paid, I expected an unforgettable meal, and it just wasn't quite there. Would I return? I don't think so, simply because there are too many other places in San Francisco to discover.

The Morris' is an intimate dining experience without feeling cramped and allowing for easy movement. The washroom is unique, but a bit of a gimmick. While most dishes offer fair value, the small bites section (dubbed "nibbles") falls short, with portions that feel precious for their price point. Chicken Nuggets: The menu's inclusion of chicken nuggets amused me, and I just had to try them. The nuggets deliver an unexpected sophistication. The coating wasn't crispy, but deliciously light and airy. The meat was made of juicy chicken thigh instead of a homogeneous meat mixture. Unfortunately, I found the caviar ranch too rich, and added an unwanted fishiness. I would have been more satisfied without the ranch. Mushroom Profiteroles: The profiterole itself was not that great, far too dense for my liking. The mushroom filling was great though! Extremely robust and meaty, punctuated by assertive black pepper that added a welcome warmth to each bite. Charcuterie: The highlight of the night for me. Based off the portion sizes of our previous dishes, I expected this to be a small sampling of each item. Imagine my surprise when we were served a gargantuan platter of meats! The selection demonstrated both breadth and depth: pâté offered rich complexity, salamis delivered varying degrees of spice, and mortadella was silky-smooth. Each component spoke to a different flavor profile and texture. Charred Broccoli and Squid: This vegetable dish was rejuvenating after the heaps of meat and fat. The dish's bright acidity acted as a palate cleanser and cut through the richness of the preceeding plates. This acidic backbone was reinforced by a satisfying heat. Fries: Pretty mediocre fries to be honest. The aioli was addictively good. Bavette Steak: A pretty disappointing steak. I prefer a steak with a well-developed crust, and this one was flaccid. The red wine sauce was fine, but nothing to write home about. Grilled Pork: I found this a bit lacking. It was also super fatty, and the meat had some toughness I did not appreciate. Smoked Duck: This was probably the dish I was most looking forward to, and my expectations were not met. The duck was competently smoked and cooked to appropriate doneness, but lacked the succulence I expected. However, the accompaniments were exceptional. I loved all the vegetables, and I especially loved the honey-espresso jus! Buckwheat Donuts: Magnificent. The use of buckwheat flour elevates these pastries, imparting a subtle nuttiness and robust texture. The donuts are well-spiced, and pair beautifully with the provided dip. An absolutely wonderful dessert.

Charcuterie including Mortadella and Duck Prosciutto at The Morris.
    Danny K.

The Morris is an upscale restaurant in the Mission that got quite busy on Saturday night. Only outdoor reservations were available but the patio is covered and heated. Their charcuterie menu can be ordered individually for $15 dollars, 5 items for $50, or all options for $75. Me and my friend ordered two individual portions of Mortadella and Duck Prosciutto along with their sourdough bread and butter. The sourdough was perfect - spongy on the inside and a thin dense caramelized rustic crust. The mortadella was a bit heavy on salt but once I sampled it with some pickled vegetables, it cancelled out the salt and left the flavor of the meat and pimento. The duck prosciutto took longer to hit the taste buds. Fat and salt followed by a subtle duck flavor. I also ordered a Chartreuse Slush, which had a nice sublime citrus and floral flavor. As it melted, a puddle formed around the glass. For our entrees, we ordered and shared the Heirloom Tomato Salad with pickled Chanterelles along with the Little Gem Salad. The tomatoes were plump and tangy. It had an interesting caprese-like taste minus the mozzarella. It was definitely a good amount of food. As we were wrapping up the meal, we ordered the Buckwheat Donuts and I got myself a cappuccino to keep myself up at the Rival Consoles show at Gray Area. I immediately picked up hints of cumin and cinnamon in the donuts, an interesting combination to say the least. I really enjoyed the vibe of the relaxed outdoor patio. I would definitely come back to try more dishes including the duck.

The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.

Seeing that it was named one of the top 50 best bars in North American, we had to check it out! We came in a Thursday night in mid-April about 9:45 PM. They have security outside thar checks IDs & also manages the queue in case the bar gets too crowded. We had no issues getting in, but there were zero indoor seats available - both the bar & table seating. Thankfully, they have a really cozy & well-lit patio area. The waitress let us know that even the outdoor patio has table-side service, so we made ourselves comfortable on the outdoor bench & within seconds she had brought us waters & cocktail menus. Weather outside was really nice, so I'm glad we actually sat outside. Each cocktail is $20, which definitely is a little steep, but I think the creativity, quality, & prestige of being named a top 50 bar supports the price. Each part of the menu is organized by liquor ie whiskey, vodka, brandy, gin, etc. We tried 4 drinks total. I only took menu photos of the pages we ordered from but they have a lot more selections. We ordered the Kung Fu Pandan, Silky Street, Rice Rice Baby, & Tropical Gangsta. We had some favorites over others, but all were very well crafted! The drinks came out pretty quickly considering how busy it was. The only hiccup was our final drink took quite a while. Turns out the ticket machine malfunctioned & deleted orders put in & caused a back-up. The waitress was so apologetic & ended up comp-ing 2 drinks, which she definitely didn't have to but it speaks volumes to the high standards they hold themselves to & their customer service. Overall, highly highly recommend checking this place out for a fun night out or post-dinner treat! Glad we made the decision to stop in!

Once it was 11pm, the bouncer started to let everybody in, so I'm guessing they only let people inside every 30 minutes to prevent overcrowding, even though once we got in it wasn't that crowded and there was plenty of open space outside too. Having to wait only gave us about an hour inside. It says they close at 12am and that is exactly when they close--you can't stay any longer than that. I'm used to bars typically staying open about 30 minutes to an hour after the listed closing time to allow customers inside to finish up. As soon as 12am hits, the bouncer starts going around and constantly telling you to hurry it up because they are closed now. The service was also pretty slow, which did not give us much time at all to sip and enjoy the drinks before they closed. We started off ordering two drinks, then our waiter came back about 10 minutes later and asked for last call so we ordered another one (this was before our two drinks even came out yet). After about 15 minutes, we got all three drinks and the waiter apologized and said he didn't charge us for the third drink since it took so long. This gave us only about 10-15 minutes to finish our drinks before we started to get told we had to leave. At least my drink (apple bottom beets) was good and I was able to chug it, but I would rather be able to take my time and enjoy a drink. Their menu is huge, and they have a wide selection of different cocktails categorized under which type of liquor is used (rum, agave, brandy). The ambiance is dark and romantic.

Despite how busy it was, the staff was super friendly and bartenders were moving fast through the requests. Sometime at a bar you can feel ignored but it was not like that here. Cellphone signal is not great but they have wifi inside as well.

Reservations are highly recommended as we observed many walk-ins but there was a 1+ hour wait. Also, must be 21+. It's not an extensive menu - more like small bites. Appreciate the selection of Zero proof drinks. Hubs happy with the NA Suntory. I went with the Dashi Apple which was quite refreshing. Kiddo ordered the Miyabi which was quite floral. We ordered food items to share. Started with the Tebasaki (chicken wings). Kiddo liked these so much she ordered another one. Next, the pork jowl - some pieces were just fat but the meat was seasoned well. Loved the pear and pineapple kimchi - would've liked a bowl of that. The Tori Nanban Sando was another good one. The Shoji Burger is what hubs came for. Fork and knife definitely need to eat this. Pillowy soft bread, melty cheese, and the pickles all made for a tasty burger. Hubs would return for this alone. Ended our meal with the Hojicha Affogato - so good and such an enjoyable way to end our meal. We weren't rushed at any time. Service was good in that they checked on us often. I'd like to visit during the day time to check out their cafe offerings. Also, although not right away, we'd definitely return again for dinner.
