[[HIGHLIGHT]]Good Italian food, excellent service, nice interior.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We weren't very hungry on the night of our visit so we had an app and a main - a tuna and bean dish, and a pork also paired with delicious beans Both choices were a win and seemed like the menu is very thoughtfully arranged.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Romantic, trendy spot on Valencia.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm surprised at how easy it was to get a Saturday night reservation the day-off, but it was to my benefit -- would definitely come back for dinner with friends before a night out. Great wine list, excellent pastas and the market fish was super filling. My personal favorite was salty, rich mushroom ravioli, but others really liked the red sauce.

Barberio Osteria has been on my "want to try" list for a while, so I was excited to see them on the Restaurant Week lineup. My husband and I decided to go and noticed there was plenty of reservation availability online, so we opted to walk in. We were seated right away, although next time I might book ahead since it looked like reservations offered more options (e.g., counter vs. standard seating). [[HIGHLIGHT]]No big deal though - it was fun watching the hustle and bustle of the open kitchen (even if it got a little warm near the wood-burning grill).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Since there were two of us, we were able to try almost everything on the RW menu (everything except the cappelletti), while also getting glimpses of other dishes being prepped in the kitchen. As a pasta fan, I was especially excited for the pappardelle with bolognese, and it did not disappoint. Everything we tried was delicious -- shoutout to the tonno e fagioli too! Even though it was a busy night, the staff were attentive and quick to respond. I'm looking forward to coming back soon and trying some of their non-RW items!

Went to Barberio Osteria the other night to celebrate the end of our honeymoon, and it's definitely an underrated gem ! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location is beautiful, the design of the space is modern yet comfortable, and there is adequate space between the table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Both of our servers were very kind as well. We ordered the anchovies as an appetizer that came with a delicious tomato and pepper accompaniment, a flavor with anchovies that is never had before but really enjoyed. My husband then ordered the papardelle with the bolognese which was insanely delicious. I try not to eat pork but had a small noodle and the flavoring on it by itself was remarkable. He absolutely loved it. I ordered a pasta dish with tomato sauce and summer squash which was perfectly cooked Al-denté and very well spiced. We then finished with the chocolate caramel budino which was a lot more delicate than other budinos I've had, but not too sweet. We truly had a wonderful time. The only thing I will say is that even though we said we were celebrating the end of our honeymoon in the reservation, nothing was really done to agknowledge it, so I might maybe not go for a life event, but the food more than made up for it and I can't wait to go back.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute hidden gem! This dark romantic restaurant is tucked away on Valencia, great location to get a dinner before going out in the Mission[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (we ate here before going to a movie at the Alamo). [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had an early reservation so it wasn't super busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was quick and attentive. For 3 people to share, we ordered: - Panzanella di drupace / stone fruit salad (a surprise hit!) - Acciughe / house-cured sardines (it's great it you like sardines) - Doppio / double-stuff pasta (a little too sweet for me personally) - Branzino fish special (great for sharing, and looks impressive!) [[HIGHLIGHT]]A cute spot definitely worth a visit for a date night or a friend's dinner![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The food was so good I forgot to take a picture. The prosciutto, bread, and olive oil were excellent. The paperdelle bolognese was delicious!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience is very nice. It's a classy, dimly lit setting with great finishing touches.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was attentive and friendly.

Barberio Osteria @barberiosf 557 Valencia St, San Francisco, CA 94110 Haha! We were totally blown away by the sister restaurant Altovino @altovinosf before, and now we're in the Mission district! We liked Altovino a bit more because that truffle appetizer was just too good, seriously ! For the appetizers, we loved the Prosciutto di Parma--super cool with all those textures, the crispy crackers with the salty ham were awesome! The tuna dish, though, was kinda meh. For the pasta, Strozzapreti was our fave--even the veggie version was packed with flavor from the veggies and creamy vibes. Seems like they switch up the veggie types now and then! The menu now is different from what we had back then. Pappardelle was as tasty as always, and the Agnolotti had this unique pasta texture that stood out. The grilled fish was a bit pricey, and the portion wasn't huge! The Panna Cotta felt like it had a smaller serving compared to the sister spot, kinda sad about that You can save 20% using @inkind App

Excellent homemade pastas, lovely whole fish specials, good wine list! Service on a Saturday night was a little slow but everyone was helpful and lovely.

This place is classy and delicious. Our friends took us for a nice anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint. Staff is great, knowledgeable, friendly. Food was delicious - they're happy to accommodate vegetarian needs! It's definitely on the higher end for Valencia street, and you're going to want more than just one entree per person as the portions are fairly European. For a special night out, I recommend!

My colleague from Italy said it was the best Italian he's ever had in SF. We ordered the top three recommended pasta dishes. Intimate and cozy vibes, and making a reservation last minute on Friday was very easy. I forgot what the arancini-like appetizer was called, but it was soo good, creamy and perfectly fried. My favorite pasta dish was the 40-yolk egg pasta with truffle. The pappardelle was great, and I loved the noodle texture of the spinach/olive pasta. We were so full at the end but will definitely come back to try the rest of their pastas. It was a pleasure meeting the owner Saul. Amazing/extensive wine selection. Friendly staff

Went for dinner on a Saturday night. Reservations recommended. The citrus panna cotta was perfect. The staff were attentive and welcoming

Made a reservation for two on a Thursday night at the chefs counter, arrived a little early and was promptly seated. Restaurant had a few other people but plenty of space. As the night progressed more guest trickled in but plenty of space for walk ins. Drinks: Amalfi Sunset - well balanced and refreshing a little salty, sweet and bitter, nice starter beverage Insalata - solid mixed salad, with Asian pear and pomegranates, lightly dressed which is how I prefer my salads Suppli - very good - comes with two to an order, fried crispy with no greasiness, filled with risotto and cheese, the truffle aioli worked nicely with this, rich but delicious Agnolotti - fantastic, pasta was perfectly cooked with a slight al dente texture, the creamy mushroom filling was liquid almost like a sauce on the inside, the asparagus, onions, peas and brown sauce were a nice compliment Tagliatelle - a miss for me, overly salty, pasta was well cooked but a bit too many flavor component with olives, lamb, preserved lemons, fennel and mint would skip this one Service was excellent, staff is attentive and friendly. Water was refilled throughout our meal, plates were replaced between courses and staff checked in throughout the meal. Overall a solid spot for Italian in SF, nice variety in the menu. Besides the tagliatelle, everything else was outstanding, worth a try.

I think this place has reoriented my baseline for five star reviews. The quality of the food, dark and moody ambience, and immaculate service made this a dining experience that I would like to repeat over and over again. Is it traditional Italian? No, but you don't come here for that. You come for the innovation and creativity! Not one dish disappointed. Every dish was at least one person's favorite at our table. For the antipasti, we ordered the Acciughe (anchovies) and the Sformatino (honey nut squash custard). The savory-sour hit of the Acciughe was an explosion of flavor while the Sformatino brought a delectable creamy experience. For the primi, we ordered the Tajarin al Burro e Salvia, Malloreddus, and Pappardelle. My god, the Tajarin al Burro e Salvia was simple but RICH and my favorite pasta of the night, a mix of a very eggy thin noodle, melted better, sage and cheese. The Malloreddus made for lively discussion at our table, a saffron pasta dish with sausage and a crunch(!). The Pappardelle was the most classic dish of the night and well executed with premium meats. For dolci, we shared a Budino. It's described as a chocolate hazelnut pudding, but I would liken it more to a cross between custard and flan. It was rich, creamy and NOT TOO SWEET! Finally, our server Emmelle was a standout. She was attentive and patient and did a great job walking us through the menu. I'm itching for my next visit here. Make sure you drop by too!

Solid food and vibes at Itria!…read more My friend and I started with their Rosemary Focaccia with Garlic-Anchovy Oil and one of their Crudos (the Bluefin Tuna, I believe), and they were both delicious. I really like that they went a little more funky with the dipping oil for the bread - it was loaded with umami! The Crudo was super fresh, and all the accoutrements worked really well together. Embarrassingly, I cannot remember the name of my or my friend's pasta, and I can see that it's no longer on the menu for this season... but the TLDR is that they were both great! Decent portion, seasoned well, and pasta cooked perfectly for me. My only gripe was with dessert. When I looked up the item I ended up ordering, it looked like a fruit pie, which I love. Give me fruit pie. What I got was sweet foam with stewed fruit and crumbles... not fruit pie. I think this could be for someone, as it tasted fine, but it was not at all what I thought I'd get based on the name. Just ask in advance what it actually is, because you might want to get dessert elsewhere. All in all, I enjoyed Itria. It's a solid spot if you're in deep Mission!

Tonight, we ordered quite a bit of food, and everything was delicious. We had no issues with the service throughout our meal, left a good tip, and overall had a great dining experience, until the very end. After dinner, we called an Uber and stepped outside when it was getting close to arriving. Unfortunately, our Uber driver cancelled, and it was very cold outside so we went back inside to ask if we could sit and wait at the bar for the next Uber. Unfortunately, we were completely ignored. One server in particular, who was wearing army-print pants, was serving tables near the front where we were standing. She made eye contact with us, looked away, and then began talking about us to the workers behind the bar. At no point did anyone acknowledge us or let us know whether we could wait inside. For the remainder of the time, they avoided eye contact and continued to ignore us until our Uber finally arrived. What made this especially disappointing is that we genuinely love the restaurant and have supported it enough to give gift certificates to our own family. We weren't asking for anything unreasonable, we simply wanted to wait inside for 15 minutes because our rides kept canceling and it was cold outside. Even if the bar wasn't available for us to wait at, a simple "I'm sorry, we can't accommodate that" would have been completely understandable. The food is still excellent, but the way we were treated at the end of the night left a really bad impression. I hope this was an isolated experience because we've otherwise really enjoyed Itria but we will likely not dine here again. It felt really unwelcoming and left a bad taste after paying over $350 + 20%tip for our meal.

Amelia recommended one pasta dish per person in the party, to share family style (which ended up working well for us, since we also got three appetizers, and finished the meal with a small amount of yummy leftovers for tomorrow) so that's what we did, along with the starters... We got the "big juicy meatballs with tomato and pancetta," which were incredible; the bread was delicious and certainly is not just a side to the amazing (definitely juicy) herbed tender meatballs. I'd definitely get this again, along with the grilled zucchini with worm salt and mint, which was so flavorful and tasty. We also got the smokey romano beans with fire roasted tomato, which was also really good but just keep in mind the emphasis on the smokey flavor! It wasn't my cup of tea but that's for sure a personal thing. For pastas, I'd rank them in this order: 1. our favorite was today's lasagna du jour, which was mushroom! So delicious, with a crispy cheesy crust, soft tender interior, and an almost caramelized tomato sauce accompanying. 2. Reginette with pork sugo (meat sauce) and spicy turnip greens was next, which had wonderful flavor with the tomato-based sauce and pieces of pork but if you like it slightly softer texture it might not be for you (same with the fusilli; the go-to preparation is aldente!). 3. Fusilli alla vodka with tomato, calabrian chili, cream, basil, and added garlic butter shrimps; this one's sauce felt a little underwhelming and more watery than creamy, and I'm just now realizing that although the menu said four garlic butter shrimp (an extra $7), we only got three. I think I'd come back for the lasagna and/or to buy the pasta from their expansive stock, cook it a bit longer, and serve it covered in a decadent creamy sauce.
