My happy morning cruising on my Ducati turned into a nightmare when I pulled into the company parking lot. A fairing flew off on the highway, and the ugly Yuasa battery was now staring at me like a dead fish. 4 days and $250 later I have a used fairing at my door, but I found all the mounting hardware is missing. I own a Honda and a Ducati, so Honda Peninsula Ducati sounds like an LBS sent from heaven. Problem is, I don't know what those parts are called, so I showed up at their shop like a complete idiot - with three pictures in my hand showing the faring and the now-naked frame. The guy Dan took his time to identify what exactly I was missing. Turns out I needed quite a few more pieces than I thought I was missing. For $35 dollars, my Ducati finally got her groove back. Dan was patient and friendly, so no complaint there either. I think I've just found my babies a new caretaker. read more

I bought my new 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 300EX here. They have a great selection of bikes here, but if you're looking for a Yamaha look somewhere else because they don't have any, just a heads up. However, all the sales reps are super friendly and very knowledgeable about every bike they sell. Any question you have, they can answer with confidence. They're store section is good too. They have a wide variety of gear, accessories, and parts you can buy, and if you purchased a bike from them, they'll give you 15% off anything in their store (excluding another bike of course). I'm giving this 4 stars out of 5 because of their service section. It's pretty pricey compared to other service shops and your bike stays the whole day, maybe two depending on what kind of service you get. I asked to get my 600 mi service done there and they told me it would take the whole day. I don't know much about motorcycles, but does it take the whole day to change the oil, the filter, and check for loose parts? (Not a rhetorical question, I actually want to know). If it does then maybe that's a fair deal, but I doubt it. Overall, this is a great place to buy a motorcycle. I would recommend this to friend. However, you might want to do more research and look for a better service place. read more

Worst dealer I ever seen i bring my 1199R they accepted very fast the bike was engine light on and start slate. they offered me annual service for 420$ , and check engine light for 120$!!! (the annual service should be include the diagnose engine light also!) response very fast that the bike is ready i started and see the bike start very late neat 10-20 sec, i asked they said first is not issue!! as am tech by my self we had discussed! they said may be is battery!! then changed may be is performance exhaust on it!!!! and finally may be the gauge. finally nothing! they just charged me 720$ for changing oil!! the speedo meter sometimes dose not worked, they said may be because ABS cable, but because my bike was with slick tire they did not check it!!! they said we can not check by low!! even they could not test on a lifter!! i requested them to bolt the gas tank cap that was one miss bolt, they forgot to do it!!! i requested to bolt one bolt of my rear tail light hanger, they wanted 120$ for this job!!!!! i requested to talk with the technician who worked with my bike... they said he dos not have time!!!!!! come tomorrow!! they dont have knowledge . they are not polite will not take any bikes there anymore read more

It's not a particularly fancy Duc shop, but the sales people seem pretty genuine. I came in looking at 848s and described to the sales guy what I was needing a bike to do - the occasional track day but mostly a commuter - and he tried to steer me towards a Monster. This was a pleasant surprise to me since the Monster is a much less expensive of a bike than the 848. Once I'm ready to buy a new bike and if what I want in stock is here, then I'd consider definitely picking it up here. read more

Yesterday I had a crisis with my VFR: a dying battery. I called and asked whether a new one could be installed 'while I waited.' Everyone came through, kindly and promptly, despite my unreasonable request--Parts got me a fully charged battery and Service installed it in less than five minutes. Service like this is rare but The Motor Cafe delivers (note: I first bought a motorcycle from this second-generation dealership in 1980 and keep coming back for the excellent service). read more

This is probably one the most incompetent dealers I have ever dealt with and if I handled situations the same as these people I'd have been fired already. Initially I was supposed to come in for a recall. Turns out the recall was made up or something. I threw away a couple hundred dollars because they have wasted my time and my time is my money in sales. Also the two uber rides i had to take for no reason. I will cut ryan at service some slack since the recall wasn't his fault. What I won't cut him slack for is lack of communication. Parts were ordered but my bike sat at the dealer for almost 2 weeks with no updates unless i called in. They over charge for all of their parts and labor. They charged me 70 dollars to install a brake lever. Over half an hour of labor for a simple job. They were trying to charge 400 dollars for a parts kit you can buy anywhere in the bay for $180-$260. They are shady and incompetent. I will never take my bike back there again especially when there are better dealers and 3rd party shops like Desmoto and Nichols Sport Bikes. Nichols has taken care of me very well and I will just use them from now on. read more

Go somewhere else! I had tire installation issues. Was buying tires for my motorcycles and the gentlemen at the Motor cafe "parts" department quoted me the price of getting the tires installed $120 (wheels on the bike). Call to get an appointment for the install and then the price balloon to over $190 (60% more). The lady at the Motor Cafe "service" department said the people that work at parts do not know the cost of service... That they are two different departments Come on! It is one business with less than 30 employees. Don't tell me the person in part that has been there for 15 years does not know how much it cost to install the tires. The fact that your "legally" segment your business in different departments for accounting and fiscal reasons does not entitle you to outright lie to your customer. I bought expensive motorcycles there, Ducati-Dainese suit, accessories, and had my Duc and KTM service there. I had been a good customer over the last 10 years. And now they lost my business over something as futile as 50$ of tire installation fees... And yes, it is not really the $50, it the experience of dealing with the lady at Motor cafe "service" that got me so upset! read more

It's amazingly stocked for both men and women, and the prices are super reasonable. The store itself is large and well laid-out, making the whole experience very pleasant. I stopped by this shop today not to buy a bike, nor to get service...or even to try out a few. Instead, I needed help finding the engine # on my existing bike to register it from out-of-state. The guys here were incredibly helpful - from taking the initial inquiry call to looking for the number on a similar CBR600rr that they had in stock. Honestly, it was a pain - they had to move the bike this way and that, crouch down onto the asphalt, fetch a flash light, etc. etc. But we found it! This alone was testament to the friendliness of the crew - after all, they could have just told me to Google it or look at the parts chart on my own, seeing that I wasn't there to buy anything. Many kudos there. As a female rider, it's also been a constant pet peeve having salesmen and service guys "talk down", whether at a car or bike dealership. These guys didn't. In fact, I ended up staying a bit longer chatting with one of the sales guys, Jose, about the new Ducati Monsters, Japanese vs. European bikes, and other stuff. He was even game letting me hop on a couple, for fun. They have a great sportbike selection -- Ducatis, KTM, Kawasaki, Hondas. From the 1000+ cc to smaller intro bikes (250-300cc). If you're in the market for a new bike (esp. curious future lady riders), I highly recommend checking out Motor Cafe! read more

I meet Peter and Kevin at a Nor Cal Ducati in Santana Row meet up last month. They both introduced them selves to me as the service managers at Moto Cafe. After a brief 15 minute chat about how they transformed the pervious reputations and quality established by the previous ownership, I explained to them a problem I was experiencing with my 1198S tank. They both walked over to my bike to have a look and assist me with different options I could take. The next day I got an e-mail from them explaining to me they look further into my situation and they found out the part was under warranty. I have been using Motor Café for small item service on my 2012 Ducati Multistrada, Pikes Peak, Special Edition since I bought my bike from Ducati of San Antonio Texas. I needed a local dealer who could help me with warranty issues. I was reluctant to use Motor Café because of their past reputation. Motor Café has made a lot of changes to the service department, and because of those changes, my use of Motor Café has increased over time. They have helped me with so many small issues that they earned my trust and I decided to have them do the 30000 mile service on my bike. This is a big ticket item and a lot of work. It takes a Ducati Master technician 8 hours to do all items that the service requires. I brought my bike in a week before the service date, hoping that somebody would cancel and my bike would jump ahead in the line. Of course this didn't happen but the weather has been so bad, it really didn't matter. They were however actually able to start my service one day early, and finish my bike on the actual day of my service appointment. I picked up the bike that evening. The new service manager, Erik Carter is working hard, along with the rest of the staff to change the reputation of Motor Café, and I've got to say, the way they have treated me and all that they have done for me, has brought my business to them. I trusted them with my 30000 mile service, and they didn't let me down. I would tell you to give Motor Café's service department a chance to earn your business. Dan in the parts department is my go to guy for all my parts needs. He is very knowledgeable and knows where to look for those parts that are not necessarily Ducati brand items. When you go in there, find Erik Carter, tell him you read my review and you want him to give you the same level of service that he gave me. You know the old "Tell them Marty sent you". read more

I purchased 1198S from this dealership and must say that the finance manager is very unethical. He is not willing to provide a test ride for the same bike as he states that the buyers dont like to see miles being put on the bike and they dont have a demo bike. On the same front he delivers a bike with double digit miles which upon questions get retarded excuses. The service department is a bit better as they seem to understand issues but are cold in their attitude. I ran into an issue where i noticed a scratch deep enough to go un-noticed by the naked eye, after the first service. Overall, Ducati and this dealership do not go hand in hand. read more

The service department has had a significant personnel upgrade. My Ducati Multistrada had had an overheating problem while under warranty that the factory sent engineers over from Italy to diagnose. 42 days in the shop, and I got no good information about what they had recommended to fix it. The bike continued to get hot but I never let it idle long enough to overheat. Fast forward 6 years, and I brought the bike in for 30k service. They did the work, but the bike was overheating when they tested it. I explained the past activity, and Dave and Brad took ownership of the case. They initially attempted to get Ducati to cover it, which they declined. Brad then got a radiator from another bike, installed it, tested it, and determined that the radiator had never really worked properly. In addition, he discovered that the original Ducati engineers had recommended REMOVING THE THERMOSTAT! That was their so-called solution. Brad assured me that he would make Ducati pay for the radiator and thermostat, so he returned my bike to me without charging me for the extra work and parts. Brad also took a friend's kickstand home, cut it, welded it, and painted it so it would fit a lowered bike. His fee: $0. Brad and Dave are also generally cool guys. read more

Orginally searching for a Ducati Sport 1000, I walked into HPD and fell in love with the 1000S (red). I spoke with Jose Ramos a sales rep. about numbers, etc. He was a pleasure to deal with, not once neglecting to answer any questions or help me find a good fin. rate for this deal. He worked with me for about 2 weeks until she was finally able to come home with me. Trust me, I tried to work with another reputable dealer in the midst of finding the best deal, only to be neglected with playing phone-tag, driving to the dealership and the guys are all on break, and the sales person I was supposed to meet up with, mysteriously disappeared before I got there, despite calling and confirming, I was on my way. I cringe thinking about how other people are actually dealing with them. Better them than me. read more

Ron helped me out when i was in a pinch and practiced excellent customer service at the same time. I called in with part numbers that i need the next day. He read them back to me and then put me on hold to call Honda to see if they were in Torrance and available for next day delivery. Luckily they are both available (but gonna cost me an arm for shipping) but the way Ron was attune to my needs and made sure everything was set before i got off the phone is something that is getting harder and harder to find these days. read more

I have always come here for all my repairs on my Hypermotard and just recently I came in with a leaking valve cover gasket which is covered by Aegis. They immediately found that my exhaust header pipe was cracked and fixed it through Ducati's emission's warranty. They handled everything for me and even fixed items as they found it was broken. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! When I started looking for a new bike I asked my motorcycle friends where I should go and who I should speak to. I started at a Honda dealer in San Mateo (one of the worst experiences I have ever had) before ending up at The Motor Cafe in Sunnyvale. My buddy has been taking his bikes here for a while and he highly recommended this shop. As a brand new rider I wasn't really sure what to expect, especially after my awful experience at the San Mateo Honda dealership. Within minutes I was greeted by Jose who not only spent an hour with me, but explained and answered anything and everything about each bike I was looking at. I never felt pressured, nor did I feel like I couldn't ask any question, stupid or not. There selection was awesome and the show room was really well organized. When it was time to negotiate, Jose and his manager, Brad were excellent. They even offered my buddy and I coffee, water, soda, etc. while we figured out the bottom line. That evening I walked out of the Motor Cafe with a brand new 2011 Honda Shadow Phantom. I couldn't be happier with the service, the cleanliness of the shop, the selection, and the knowledgeable employees. I will definitely return to this shop, and this shop only for all of my service, parts, gear, etc. When it comes time to buy another bike, perhaps a dirt bike, I will be returning to The Motor Cafe to speak with Jose and Brad. Went here for the first time after they were recommended by a friend. Walked in and immediately Tony asked how he could help my friend and I. Told him I had my MSF course scheduled for January and that I was a new rider that wanted to experience a few different bikes and checkout some gear. Tony immediately quelled any fears I had about disclosing that I am a soon to be new rider. He was welcoming, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. He encouraged me to throw my leg over a few motorcycles and took the time to explain variances and differences between different types of motorcycles. He was a fantastic conversationalist and it was enjoyable to just talk to him. After letting us peruse, by ourselves, for quite a while he was more than helpful in explaining what to look for in proper quality gloves. It really made my first visit to a motorcycle dealership enjoyable and non-intimidating. I hope to be back soon for any future motorcycle/gear purchases. read more

What a brilliant Service dept! My left mirror was damaged! normally this is an easy fix at home. But in trying a bit too much, I shredded the head of the nut. Took it to Motor cafe to see if they could help. They initially mentioned that they are not free and asked me to make an appointment about a week later, but then (either Brad or Jonathan, cant recall exactly!) the lead person took a look and had an idea and went to work on it. The idea worked and in a short time, this got replaced. It was at such a nominal cost too! Great folks! read more

I have owned several motorcycles over the years, but they were always purchased by private-party sale. This was my first time buying a bike from a dealer, and I have no regrets. I had the idea to sell my Magna for a VFR for some time but the right bike just never showed up, at least until a friend took me in to see a used bike they had on the floor. I spoke with Jose Ramos who worked with me on the sale. Jose and the sales manager were both friendly and very accommodating. The deal went through and I rode out on my new bike. I highly recommend Honda Peninsula Ducati (or "MotoCafe" as they are now known). Jose didn't put any pressure on me to buy the bike. His attitude is that the bikes they carry will sell themselves, he is just there to facilitate and help you find the bike that is right for you. read more

Came in for a DSS error on my Multi. I dropped the bike off and later in the day I was called back with the news that the error was due to a faulty accelerometer which was part of a recall. Part was ordered which was indicated to take about 4 or 5 days to come in. Once the part was installed they called again to indicate I needed my brakes flushed as they were spongy. Gave me the option to do this work or not, along with if I wanted an oil change and chain lube. Opted to do all the work since it was already there, might as well do the work. Picked the bike up, no issues, brakes are much better. Really cant say I had any problems with the communication or work. Will continue to go here, so far so good. read more

I can not say enough good things about this shop. I have bought 2 bikes from them so far and all of my services have been done by their service department. The service department especially has incredible customer service at the hands of Erik, who deals mostly in "tough love" but only because he truly cares, spending hours after work and before work to deliver bikes and finishing touches on Sunday because a client might need the bike back before Monday. In other words he is the man!. Mike and Denis are very personable and always straight up with you, if they can help you they will, if they can't they will tell you straight up.(Honesty is always appreciated) Back when I got into an accident on my motorcycle they took my bike in and worked fast, closely with the insurance to close out the claim. Once everything with the insurance was done they ordered my parts and gave me an update on what was happening. Now the crazy thing here is they were booked about 1 month in advance so they had to squeeze my bike repair in when they had time, but they went the extra mile for me because they knew my bike was my only mode of transportation and low and behold 1 week and a half later my bike was back in my hands looking brand new. This review is for SERVICE. I am very impressed with how they treat their customers. I serviced my bikes there before I bought my H2 and always had good experience. Last week I got a nail in my tire and was over 700 miles so I decided to get a tune up and tire change at the same time. When I called they were booked for 3 weeks in advance but when I told them I got the bike from them they were able to take me the following day!!! Also I expected to pay a little more for the tire than getting it from the internet BUT it actually was a lot less and I even did not have to ask for it. To top all of it they gave me a great deal on mounting. I reget not buying all my bikes trough them. Great dealer with an awesome service. read more

I bought my third bike here (Ducati) and must say that I was impressed with the overall service, both on the phone and especially in the shop. These guys really do seem to not only know what they're talking about, but they care as well. From everything to sales to the service, from the floor to the tech, I received nothing but friendly and helpful service. Oh, by the way I highly recommend buying your bike from these guys. I just got my 600 mile service and realized that they give their clients extremely good deals on products and accessories. Some of them are better than what I have found online. Plus, the service guys are really nice. On the flip end, I haven't really found anything negative about the place, other than it's rather far from where I live (about a 25 min ride). I had the unfortunate experience of some incompetent thief attempting to break my ignition leaving me with a bike whose wheel was locked and couldn't start. I called the motor cafe and towed it in. They walked me through the repair, gave me a reasonable quote and kept me notified throughout the process. I've never had such great customer service from anywhere in my entire life. We ran into an issue when it turned out that the thief also tried unscrewing the ignition and the technician brought me into the shop. Showed me the issue and explained the repair and what parts we need to make it happen. Lastly, due to my schedule the shop head held onto my key and let me pick it up after hours since I was traveling out of the country soon. 11/10 would definitely recommend read more

Review for my buying experience. Big thanks to Daniel and Jose for taking care of me with my new bike purchase! I had been looking to get an upgrade from my Ninja 500 for a few weeks, and Motor Cafe made it easy and painless to get me on a new ride. Scheduling a test ride was super easy, and Daniel walked me through the buying process with no pressure. I had to order my bike since the did not have it on the floor inventory, but it was worth the 1 week wait. Also had a small snag when the bike arrived. The front tire had some superficial damage to the treads, but they immediately ordered a replacement tire and replaced it. It was tough to wait an extra week to get the tire situation taken care of, but the guys at the shop put me at ease with the effort they showed in wanting to do the right thing and take care of me. The bike is great, and an absolute joy to ride! It was an amazing feeling riding off the lot with 3 miles on the odometer! One other thing to note. The shop also sells bikes on consignment, which I opted to do with the old Ninja 500. Jose took care of me, and explained the whole process and made me comfortable with the situation. He was completely up front with the fees and what could be expected, but was also confident that they would be able to find a home for my previous bike while also meeting my desired sell price. I look forward to getting that taken care of as well. The 500 has not sold yet, but its only been 2 weeks. :) I would definitely give Motor Cafe a thumbs up for new and veteran riders alike. read more
