The museum is massive, with tons of exhibits. You'll find a mix of contemporary art, immersive installations, plus regular live performances. We spent hours exploring/wandering. Overall, it's a must-visit, and I hope to come back to catch their dusk/dawn exhibit, which seems to be a staple.

It would be cool to have some more info about what the building used to be and how it used to look. I think the price could be prohibitive for a lot of people or for families. I am not knowledgeable about contemporary art but I like browsing here. We have done one of the free tours before as well. There are some times exhibits and those require advance booking online (the cost in included). This means many times, there were no slots available during the days and times we'd planned to visit. That felt like some people were getting "more for their money" and like we'd missed out. There was a roller coaster that ran once per hour and so I think members got first choice of spots so there was no availability for months (we never did get to experience the ride). There are a few James Turrell experiences that also require pre-registration. This makes it impossible to see them if you do a spontaneous visit.

The grounds could use some TLC but the exhibits are great, and short. Plan to spend an hour or so touring both buildings. Visit Cafe Mamie on a sunny day and enjoy some tea in the Vermont hills. The only annoying thing about SVAC is they place too much emphasis on the artists themselves and hardly ever list information on the work being displayed. We left rather annoyed that each gallery lacked information, if it gave any at all, on the thought behind each piece. A hidden Manchester gem to spend a few hours.

Chihuly's pieces are instantly recognizable, many with signature complimentary color lips. I found the works by Lino Tagliapietra mesmerizing. The Stromboli and Massai pieces captured my gaze and held it for long enjoyable moments. TIP-a check-in on Yelp netted me a complimentary catalog of Lino's works. I must have been the first because the staff seemed surprised to see the offer. I now have memories of works of art that are a little rich for my budget ( Massai was over $200k)

100% worth a visit if you're in Stockbridge!…read more I've been a fan of Chihuly's art ever since his exhibit at the NY Botanical garden, and have been dying to see some more of his art ever since. I was a bit intimidated at first when I walked in with my family since the art pieces are so delicate and the gallery was pretty quiet. Kim greeted us instantly and made us feel so welcomed -- and we set off to explore after learning a bit more about the gallery. The gallery is two-stories high, and you're able to get an AMAZING view of the Chihuly chandelier from the second-floor opening. The art pieces on display were incredible and featured artists like Martin Rosol, David Huchthausen, Lino Tagliapietra, and many others. It was my first time seeing a lot of their art up close and I would recommend coming to this gallery if you're interested in exploring different types of glass art. I wish I had checked in on Yelp for the free catalog! Remember to do that if you visit.
