These guys are the best. I just moved from Manhattan to Brooklyn, and they made the entire day a breeze. I was nervous about hiring movers for the first time and they completely calmed my nerves. The Moving Dr was the absolute best choice we could have made for our move from Long Island to Upstate NY! Randy and his crew Arnold, Derwin and Bulmario were just wonderfu! They were super respectful, friendly, kind, and very considerate! My husband has health issues and I had thrown out my back the day the furniture was being picked up and they just handled everything with kindness and without adding more stress. In addition, Randy went above and beyond as he took down our large TV that was literally stuck to the wall which took a very long time and even more patience. We had a lot of furniture, a huge painting and lots of glass that were handed with great care packing and unpacking and placing everything in the new house. The crew even moved some very heavy items we had driven to the house ourselves that would have been very, very difficult for us to unload! If you are ever moving DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT use the company Moving Dr. I felt extremely lied to by Abe. I moved from NY to FL. My family's stuff was kept in storage for a month before being shipped to us. It's been five months and we are still missing many items, a lot of which are sentimental. The manager Danny was incredibly rude and whomever the girl I spoke to on the phone was, was also unhelpful. I would not rely on them to get your items to you. I do not feel they are trustworthy based on my experiences and they certainly do not seem willing to help people who have missing items. read more

The Moving Doctor helped me move my 85 Yr old Mom to a new home. The three men, headed by Randy, were very polite. They were extremely careful with the breakable furniture including a antique curio cabinet, Antique Mirrors, and glass objects were packed in paper and placed gently into boxes. They brought wardrobe closets for my mom's clothes to be moved very easily. The couch was wrapped in blankets to prevent damage going through doorways. Word of advice: Don't wait until last minute, the better you're prepared the smoother your experience. They came on time and were courteous and fast. They packed my fragile items so none broke. But they mishandled my dresser so one drawer no longer opens and closes properly and the light in the headboard broke. Danny says he will help me defray cost of repairs and that's a good gesture. Never use this company! They quoted one price over the phone, moved the furniture and then changed the price. They left my couch and box spring because they claimed it wouldn't fit. I paid someone to bring the couch up and it fit. They left my mirror to my dresser off. The person at the Jamaica location was rude and told the movers to leave. This place does the typical bait and switch- they quote low and then jack up the price on the day of. They jacked up our price by $1600 on the day of! While the movers were nice guys, the management is atrocious and i caution that you stay away from this place. More detail about our story- we asked for 2 quotes- one if we did all the packing and one if they did all the packing. They said 1800 for us to do the packing and 2600 for them and that if we did some of the packing we would fall somewhere in between depending on the amount of packing we did. We were assured that the most we would possibly pay for the move was 2600 (and that was inclusive of a full pack). This was the lowest quote we got so we went with them. We ended up doing 80%+ of the packing so assumed we would land around $2000. On the day of, after loading our stuff into their truck and commuting to our new location, the Forman told us that the cost would be $3600!! When we pushed back he offered that we talk to the management office, which we did. Despite being very calm and polite when talking to them, the management office was extremely rude and hung up the phone on us!. So we were then told that if we didn't give the full $3600 at that moment, they were going to leave with all of our stuff! (They had not unloaded the truck into the new place yet). We are a family with 2 kids under the age of 4!! Can you imagine being outside your new house with 2 toddlers and movers threatening to take everything you own??!! My husband then called the police who came to the house and assured us that it was illegal for them to take our stuff and then stayed to mediate the situation. We ended up offering to pay $3000 because that was the amount quoted by other moving companies. But to pay about $1000 more unexpectedly was a huge upset. Had they given an accurate quote we could've gone with a different company without the headache, and planned differently financially. This is the worst moving company you can think off. I was doing a move from NYC to Cincinnati Ohio and I had the worst experience ever. They sent a guy over to do a estimate and we were quoted 2,200 with taxes and they said no extra charges that's with tax and everything included. Then came the day of the move. The drivers showed up and said it will cost extra and at the end it was coming out too $3300. They tried to muscle you, and how can a estimate be off by $1,100. This was our first time trying moving doctor. Very honest company. The reps Dennis and joe were very very helpful. Gave us a very accurate quote based on what we said needed moving and it was spot on. There were no issues at all and they worked fast and diligently. Not like other companies who charge you fully even if they finish earlier. They came in on time maybe a bit earlier which we appreciated. This people are very unprofessional. I used the moving doctor on January 03,2015 and it was the worse moving experience of my life. They gave me a quote for $650.00 from south ozone park, NY to valley stream NY. When we got to new house, my brand new wooden floor , my dad's bedroom walls and my living room walls scratched. Also my mother's Singer sawing machine broken. My bedroom set mirror on the floor. By the way I was threatened to give tips. After having an argument with movers they charged me an extra $250.00dollars. I ended up paying $900.00 dollars. I went personally to speak to their boss and he never came to speak with me. How can this company let their employees threatened their customers? I wonder why their boss never show up and speak with me. Does he knows what his employees are doing? I have mixed feelings writing this because while I really appreciate the hard work of the actual movers I feel there were several deceptive practices by the estimator and the very high prices of the moving materials. First I really must say that the work these men do is strenuous and back breaking. They did a great job of packing and protecting all my belongings and delivering them with no damage. The crew of 6 worked for nine straight hours non stop loading up two trucks transporting it 10 minutes away and unloading all the boxes and furniture to the rooms of my choice in my new house. If I was rating this company on the moving crew itself I would give 5 stars. Unfortunately this review loses stars based on the deceptive practice or incompetence of the estimator. The actual move cost $150.00 more than estimate. While this is not a big difference in price that $150.00 was due to the cost of tape. For whatever reason there was no tape in my probable cost of moving even though the foreman of the crew stated they always have to use tape on every move he has done. So the reason I believe it was left out of the probable cost was to give a deceptively lower price or the estimator was incompetent. Another negative is the cost of the packing materials they charge. For example for a large box which is 4.5 gallons the moving doctor charges over 3 times as much as uhaul. Also there was a fuel surcharge for some reason even though when adjusted for inflation the cost of fuel is below the average price per gallon during the last 90 years. Hopefully I will not be moving anytime soon but if I did I would probably use them again but I would not use any of there packing material and make sure the estimator puts tape in the probable moving estimate. I would also request an explanation and justification for any fuel surcharges before the move. read more

My daughter was moving from Long Island to manhattan for a new job and had about 15 boxes and a few pieces of furniture to move. I was referred to the Moving Dr by a friend at Exit Realty and we couldn't have had a better experience... It was a small move (and a very large truck) and the 3 man crew was polite, funny, and professional. They loaded the truck in 1/2 hour, drove into the city, and had her unpacked in no time. Getting a very competitive quote and scheduling the move was quick and easy! These are the best movers ever! This was a 2 day move with 2 stops after my house. The movers had to pack up my house, move stuff to my parents' house and then move me into my apartment in manhattan the next day. Everything went smoothly and nothing was damaged. The movers were polite, kind and helpful in every aspect. They even helped me figure out where to put the furniture- and there was lots of it coming from a house. We highly recommend Ty, who was our lead. I used moving doctor when I moved 5 years ago into my house and would use them again in a heartbeat. DO NOT use this company. They cancelled on us on the day of our move, just two hours before they were supposed to be there. Said they'd be stuck at the morning job that turned into a full day job. I booked them two months in advance and called multiple times to confirm our scheduled move. They left me eight months pregnant to figure out how to get all my belongings moved within the next few hours. Better yet, they didn't understand why we couldn't just reschedule for another day or the next week when our lease was up!! The best they could offer was "calling us back later in the day if anything changed." We were left to rent a UHaul and move everything ourselves. Also note, when I first got a quote from them they said it would be the three hours plus one of drive time base don what we had (2BR apartment) and that this ws the minimum so even if we didn't reach it we needed to pay this...fine. I had listed every item out. When they called the night before to confirm they had me list out all items once again and then said it would be more like an additional 2-3 hours. Pretty much, just AVOID this company for many reasons and save yourself the headaches. read more

I have hired movers in the past with the worst experiences imaginable. I am retired living in NYC and decided to relocate South. I was skeptical of anyone moving me (I've moved 5 times in the past and always a disaster) so I started investigating my choices for 6 months prior to my move. Anyone that has moved in the past knows they give you a estimate and it is always different when they come. Which it was for me as well. Considering I had 16 extra boxes not only was Lou considerate & honest but fair as well. Even after the 16 boxes Amen & Vincent (the movers) had seen I had extra & they were kind and offered to take them on the truck as well AT NO EXTRA COST!!! As for the movers Amen & VIncent. Both dressed very professional and were fast but very careful with my things and pleasant to speak to. Let me add one more thing. I was told that it would take 5 to 16 days after pick up for delivery and I asked if he could try to make it sooner. He said he would do his best to accommodate me............... PS I arrived on the 21st of July and they called me on the 22nd to tell me they would be delivering my things on the 23rd.!!!! I NEVER had anything go as smooth as this move. Thanks Moving Dr!! I can't believe how many things were broken when delivered to our new home, things I can NEVER replace again, cried my eyes out!
