i live in Santa Cruz County as well as San Francisco. There are many salons and spas in San Francisco that are lovely but no one cares as much for customer satisfaction, health of the nails and look of the nail than Debbie Hunt. i was looking for a manicurist in this county who SANITIZES with highly graded products and uses top of the nail care products. I would never risk going to someone who isn't extraordinarily particular in caring about the health and safety of her clients, first and foremost!! In fact, I interviewed Debbie before I booked my first appointment and then was quite scrutinizing at my first go round at The Nail Spa. She did not disappoint me in any way. In fact, I have been a customer for five+ years. I have bought gift certificates for many of my friends because I want them to have the same experience as i have. She asks specifics about how I want my nails to look and then gives advice on how to care for my nails so I can maximize the time between manicures and pedicures. Debbie is outgoing, caring, personable and goes the extra mile. I don't know of another business owner where every client becomes a friend. That is just who she is. She has a loyal following. I highly recommend The Nail Spa and Debbie Hunt if you desire Superior Service and Expertise. I had the worst gel pedicure I have ever had with Debbie a few weeks ago. The nails were uneven, the polish was also uneven, clumpy and not cleaned off the surrounding skin edges. I contacted the owner, Debbie. She was "happy to refund" but wanted to see what went wrong. I was more than willing to come back to have her inspect her own work. She cancelled on me twice, went from offering a full refund ($75) to a "good faith" of $30 down to $0. She had the audacity to accuse me of messing up/altering the nails without even seeing them in person. Why I would sabotage my own pedicure ($75) and give a $25 tip is utter nonsense! I sent photos I had taken that same evening and her responses changed with each text exchange, going from a full refund to no refund to let me look at them in person to deciding the "matter was closed" sight unseen. It was so unprofessional, the worst customer service I have ever experienced and preposterous to lob an accusation that I had somehow for some unknown weird reason messed up my own pedicure. I am attaching some of the photos. Once the gel polish is on, if you trim your nails, it breaks the surface of the polish and it is very obvious. Those of you with gel manicures know this all too well. I was only in Scott's Valley for a professional training for a few weeks. Glad I never have to deal with this business again!! I LOVE this place!!!!!! I have "natural nails" - I go in every 4 weeks for a manicure and Debbie keeps them healthy and looking good . Her pedicures are out of this world!!!!! I just love the way my feet feel and look. It makes me smile every time I look down at my toes, and I get compliments on them all the time. I have been seeing Debie for years now. When the economy was booming it was hard to get an appointment unless you were one of her "regulars". Yet whenever she had to turn somebody away, she has always been very sweet and gracious to anyone who calls or walks in off the street. I highly recommend her shop. It is warm and relaxing; parking is free and plentiful. Now that the recession is in full swing, it is a little bit easier to get an appt., so if you want the very best manicurist in town, then call Debbie at the Nail Spa!!!!! read more

First of all I have to say to Jessica R that you are not a client of Debbie's at The Nail Spa, she has only had 1 Jessica in all her years of doing nails and she is a good friend and client to this day. To come on a message rating board and write a scathing review using a ficticious name is appaling. That being said I want to say that I as well as my daughter have been a friend and client of Debbie's for years and wouldn't go anywhere else. We get compliments daily right up until its time for our next appointment. She does a great job with nails of all types and pedicures, is meticulous and makes sure every nail is perfect before you leave. Its a fun way to spend an hour or two every other week. I am surprised by the other reviewers. I got my pedicure from Traci and loved every minute of it. Unlike those cheap places in town ($15-$20) where they ask you to pick out a color as soon as you walk in the door and rush to process you,Traci took the time (soaking, massaging, and polishing) to take care of my feet. It was an ultimate pampering at a reasonable price. And to add, it was CLEAN!! You don't have to worry about getting those nasty fungus/infections here.
