We came here for a tasting yesterday and had a great experience. I love wine, but it usually makes me a little congested, as I'm sensitive to the chemicals used to produce it. All of the Casa Barranca wines are organic and this is the first time EVER, that wine didn't make me congested at all. We came back again today to buy a couple more bottles before heading back to LA. We were in for a treat because the winemaker, Sam was working. He was so hospitable and taught us so much about winemaking. We also visited the Ojai Vineyard, and the wine was good, but the chemicals made me congested. We had a much better experience at Casa Barranca...highly recommended! read more

We popped in to Casa B on a recommendation at the B&B we were staying at in Ojai. Ricky pours a lovely glass of wine, has lots of info and was a true delight. In a no pressure to join atmosphere, we joined the club, got a big'ol discount and walked with 4 bottles of wine. My BF loved their Chardonnay; I'm a red girl. Conveniently located in downtown Ojai's shopping arcade and next to an ice cream shop, the Casa Barranca was a lovely, friendly place. My husband and I stopped in on a recent vacation. Nice ambience, sell a selection of wine products as well as their wines, clean bathroom, and purse hooks under the bar (a simple touch that is so appreciated by us ladies!) I also appreciated that they provided crackers and pitchers of water for each taster so we could cleanse our palates. Some wineries don't. It was pretty empty when we came by, although it sounds like they're frequently quite slammed. We were able to sit at the bar and chat with two very nice bartenders. They were knowledgeable about the wines as well as Ojai in general. We enjoyed all of the wines and had a hard time deciding which to buy. Would definitely come back. I love this place. We drove from Santa Barbara just to taste and grab a couple of bottles. The entire flight was beautiful. Plus Alysia our host informed us that since my wife and I were industry, we would get a 50 percent discount on bottle purchases. I never gotten more than 35 percent anywhere. She was an amazing hostess. Even tossed in a couple of extras. Try the Malbec. One of the best ones I have ever tasted. The Sangiovese is a big boy as well. This place is home. My fiancé and I discovered this place about a year ago and we have been OBSESSED ever since! First off, Alysia is my favorite thing about this place. Her warm inviting spirit is breath of fresh air! She embodies every sweet feature of Ojai. Now about the tasting room, this place IS Ojai. I work at the front desk at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa and I recommend soooooo many people to come in here because of how much I love the place. I've been to every tasting room in Ojai, and nothing compares to the quality experience of Ojai. Everything about this place shines above the other tasting rooms, from the warm environment to the SUPERB wine; let's not forget to talk about that. Organic, vegan, no sulfites, amazingness! I cannot enjoy any other wine the way that I enjoy this wine! My house is always full of Casa Barranca wine! I can't go in here without buying more. THis was our second time visiting casa barranca, second time around was a charm. My husband and I enjoyed a flight and once again the wines were great.. Bizarre experience!!! Went to this wine tasting room based on reviews and a 2 for 1 coupon. The girl behind the bar was attentive at first giving us our first pour. Then two male customers came in and she proceeded to sit with them while they had lunch and wine leaving me and my friend along with another couple with zero service. After the forth pour and trying to get her attention we left without getting our full flight. Won't be back. read more

This is not the ideal tasting experience in my opinion. I like to learn about the wines and the vineyards involved, so I'm not one of those people that use a tasting as an excuse to get hammered. That is not what I'm paying these prices for. But apparently the folks around me saw it differently. It was distracting and obnoxious for me and for the staff who didn't even properly introduce the wines. Also I would prefer to be offered a small pour of water between wines, especially from red to white. Most wineries I've gone to follow this protocol and it makes a difference in tasting the subtleties. I'm not a snob, but if I didn't care I'd pull up a stool at the Hub and order two buck chuck for a fraction of the price. read more

We had another beautiful experience at Casa Barranca last weekend thanks to the amazing wine-tender, Andy! We were able to bring our dog, Lucy, in with us (she likes wine!), and the organic wines were delicious. We were so happy to get out of Ojai Vineyard tasting room that we almost ran here. After that awful experience I wasn't expecting much. We were here on a Thursday so it was just me and my boyfriend. Tara greeted us and right away I felt like I was in a real wine tasting. We tasted for almost 2 hours and bought 2 bottles in the end. She was so knowledgeable about wines especially about organic and unfiltered and vegan wines. I had never heard of let alone knew anything about it so it was really interesting. She poured us great size tastes and talked about her and our travels to Asia and also recommended restaurants. She was great. I can't wait to go back next time we visit Ojai! read more

My husband and I are wine club members at Casa Barranca. It is our absolute favorite wine anywhere. The tasting room is in a great location in the downtown Ojai area and is very cute and quaint. Service is always excellent, we especially enjoy Ricky, he's hilarious! Casa Barranca also hosts a party each year for wine club members and it's truly amazing. Always great food and wine of course. While planning our anniversary getaway to Ojai, I read about Casa Barranca and added it to our to-do list. Coincidentally, we walked right past the tasting room on our first evening in town, and stopped in for a spontaneous tasting! Alicia was a wonderful host- our glasses were never empty and all of the wines are delicious (and animal friendly!). They have two separate tasting flights to try ($12 and $15 for 5 pours). We had a two-for-1 coupon (from the free Ojai guide magazines that are everywhere) but our tasting fees were waived with the purchase of two bottles. If we were local, we would have definitely considered joining their wine club! While we were there we met another wonderful Ojai couple (Hi Van & Daun!) and ended up having dinner together down the road at Ojai Bev Co! We couldn't have planned a better way to spend an evening in Ojai! read more

Came here during a relaxing afternoon out. The woman working was immediately willing to get us comfortable and answer any questions we had. I told her I REALLY like a Cabernet, and she recommended exactly what my taste buds were looking for! Great service, cozy atmosphere, the ONLY reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the bathroom. Really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and beautiful wine of Casa Barranca in Ojai. We tasted the flight for $15 and Sam, the winemaker, threw in an extra taste of a smooth Sav Blanc that we fully enjoyed. Our favorite was the 2010 Pinot Noir, but all of the Reds were rich and robust. The 2013 Craftsman Red was a nice blend. read more

I am a wine lover, so when I recently tried Casa Barranca Cab, I liked it so much that I had to make an excuse to visit Ojai and stop by its Tasting Room with some of my girlfriends. The place is welcoming, inviting, cozy and has a great atmosphere to hang out with family and friends. We tried few of their wines and we were all fascinated by their taste and quality. We did have a great time not only because of the amazing wine and homy place, but also because of the host Ricky V. He was very charismatic, attentive, fun, knowledgeable and professional. Wine was not as good as other reviews claimed. Overall the deal is worth it as you are getting 2 tastings a bottle and two wine glasses for 35$ (per groupon) however service there was horribly slow. Almost waited 10 minutes between pours. The ambiance inside is homey and cozy and their knickknacks are cute. read more

My girl and I had a great time at the Casa Barranca tasting room. It is a very cozy place to just hang out. We work in hospitality, so we love to be on the other side of the bar and relax. The staff does a great job of making sure everyone is taken care of and that they leave happy. RickyV is hilarious, charming, attentive, generous and unstoppable. I've never experienced being entertained like that...not what we expected from a tasting room. We def got our moneys worth, as I've done many tastings before and they give you so small of a pour that you can barely get an experience from just one lil taste! Here, just tell them how much or how little you would like to drink and they will accommodate.
