They are open again! I am loyal to two pizza joints in Fairfield. One is Mike's Pizza because it was my childhood pizza joint. The other is Nauti Dolphin because it is by far the best pizza in CT. Where to begin. I was brought to the Nauti Dolphin by my girlfriend, who happened to work there in high school. Seeing saw how I typically agree with her palette, I couldn't wait to sink my teeth in to a slice of their pizza. We called it in advance so that we could continue on our way to the beach. If you haven't had pizza seaside, you are missing out. The view was gorgeous & the pie was delicious. We got a salad pizza. It was yummy. Not the best I've had though. The pie alone-outstanding. This place has the best pie in the Tri! There's no better in CT, NY or Jersey. The people who work there really care about the food. It's not much to look out but conveniently located near the train station and just so delicious. They also support local charities and employ local kids. read more

Probably the best pizza in Fairfield. Consistently good, great ingredients, cooked perfectly, crunchy chewy crust. Prefer it to Pepes and Colony Grill, although they are both good as well just different styles. One of our fave combos is a bacon and onion pizza. No greasy sloppy mess, crispy and delish you gotta try it. Also love the antipasto, small size is plenty for two. I've lived in Manhattan for 15+ years and grew up on Long Island and have tried almost every recommended and highly reviewed pizza place in the area including Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island and this little place at the Fairfield CT train station is home to one of the top 3 best regular slices I've ever had in my life. I tried it randomly when passing through a few years ago and was blown away and now every time I pass through on a road trip I stop for a few slices. I HIGHLY recommended it. The thin, (but not too thin) crust has a perfect crunch, the sauce has a perfect sweetness and the cheese and salt balance is on point. The staff was really nice too. read more

We are always looking to try different pizza places in the area, so after reading some of the reviews on Yelp we decided to try Nauti Dolphin. The only thing I thought was ok was the crust. It was thin and had a good crunch. But the pizza was totally lacking in flavor. The sauce seemed watery and tasteless. I added extra herbs, garlic, grated cheese and hot pepper flake and it still was woefully bland. I would not recommend this pizza to anyone with taste buds! read more

Order the plain cheese first before you try Nauti's special pizzas. Honestly I love their plain cheese more than any pizza with toppings. Tonight we ordered the delight pizza with all the veggies and a plain and we all fought for the plain slices. I thought I should try something different since we normally order the plain pizza. The plain pizza never disappoints, however, if you like pizza with toppings, you will enjoy both. You just don't get the amazing taste of the sauce and cheese with their pizza with toppings. By the way I have eaten here for over 16 years and their pizza has always tasted consistently delicious, with just the right amount of crust, cheese, and sauce. It truly hits the spot every time, but definitely try the plain cheese pizza first if its your first time eating at the Dolphin. Bon Appetit! P.S. I'm giving the Nauti only four stars because I'm a super pizza snob, sniffing out, kneading out and, of course, tasting pizzas all over. I've lived in Chicago, I've lived in New York; and yet somehow I ended up here in CT.... I'll preface this by saying that while I enjoy Chicago style "pizza," it really isn't what i think of when it comes to wanting pizza. I tend towards the Napoletana style, ranking Great Lakes, Pepe's (The Spot), The Bru Room at Bar, and Grimaldi's very high. Possibly Keste in the EV top.... but I digress. Nauti is what I want when I want good ole american pizza at it's best. It is unpretentious. Solid. A great crust--a crisp, never soggy, mix of what i would deam white and corn flours with a little extra corn ala Two Boots (another 4*review), not overpowering or underwhelming (if that's a word, as the song goes). The sauce makes it here, as does the mix of cheese. Tip: the cheese slices in the train station are awesome, much better than the take home cheese pie. It must be the second cook that does it. The best part is that they crumble their sausage and mince or puree their cherry peppers. The sausage, cherry pepper and onion is not to be missed. Go light on the onion. They make a signature pie very similar, but it has romano in lieu of parm, and most find it too bitter. I like the mix, personally. I live in FFLD near Pepe's, but Nauti gets more of my business. I love their grinders but I most especially LOVE their pizzas. I was compelled to write a review after today's pie, which I believe to be the best pizza I've gotten from them yet. Just as a reference point, their pizza ranks top 3 (Ray's from NYC is also top 3) with me. I strayed from my usual half cheese half buffalo chicken and ordered a pepperoni pie. Not only did my pizza arrive promptly but my pizza was still oven hot. I took my first bite and I could not believe how amazing the pizza was, so much so that my companion and I took turns expressing to each other how delicious the pizza was. That was our whole conversation while we ate. The cheese married well with the sauce and the crust was chewy but crunchy. There were spices thrown about on top of the pie that really tied every thing in together. Just delectable. Delicious. Best pizza in town!!! The crust, sauce and toppings are perfection. They actually season the pizza with oregano and basil which is unusual in this neck of the woods. I usually get ham and mushroom and it's perfect. Their grinders are also better than in most other places. Delivery takes over an hour in peak hours, which is the only problem with this place. read more

Home from the west coast visiting family and was craving some 'za. Have not had much luck with pizza in the area in prior visits but never willing to throw in the towel when it comes to this fine food group, did some research, read a bunch of reviews and found a few new places to try that promised the tasty New York style/thin-crust pizza I was pining for. Was also looking for a place that offered take-out that was close by. Nauti Dolphin had numerous reviews that spoke to me and seemed to fit the bill for the evening. Called in the order (a large spinach, mushroom and chicken) and am pretty sure the turnaround time was the super quick 15 minutes promised (I was a few minutes late and it was already on the shelf waiting for me). Stepping through the door of this tiny joint and the salivary glands kicked into high gear upon the unmistakable aroma of a classic NYC pizzeria. Mmm. Everyone inside seemed welcoming and friendly and it was an efficient check-out. Bonus: A handful of dedicated parking spots just outside make pick-up a breeze. Drove home, threw some slices into the toaster oven for a couple minutes (since I had been a little late on the pick-up, there was still a short drive involved, it was pretty cold outside and I like my pizza piping hot) and dug in. Yum. Thin crust that was still a little chewy yet stiff enough to hold the toppings throughout all but the very tip of the slice. Seemed to have just the right ratio of crust to sauce to cheese to toppings--there wasn't one element that overshadowed the others as is often the case. The sauce itself was nothing fancy but it was fresh and tasty--just the way I like it. One thing that really stood out for me was that the pizza wasn't excessively salty like so many are. This is indeed some tasty 'za. Is this the best pizza in the area? I don't know yet as it's only the first of several on my list that look promising. For some no-frills pizza, this a good option in Fairfied. And it is right next to the train station, so if you are just coming home & hungry, this serves as an easy solution. The pie is "new york style" and the cheese to sauce ratio is done well. Crust is pretty good, a better quality dough is one easy upgrade they could make. And their toppings are spread in a generous fashion. It is affordable, especially considering other options in Fairfield, so those in FC who have not yet been here, should put this on their list of "pizza joints that I need to try".
