This is a tiny cafe with a lot of heart. My friend and I were looking for a new spot in San Pedro. After typing in good food on an internet search, this spot popped up. We were attracted to the signage, and photos of the decor, thought we'd give it a shot. Walked in on a late Sunday afternoon, to bright smiles and welcoming hellos. Ambiance was hitting immediately. The menu, is a bit of this and a little of that. We really didn't know what we were in the mood for. I decided on 1 oyster and one scallop on the half shell. Very fresh, kind of small, servings. The sauce on each were unique and flavorful with a shallot accompaniment. Very nice though. Really balanced flow. The oyster, well I dont know how to express it any other way other than that you need this. You really do. I ordered the mushroom empenadas, my friend ordered steak tacos. The steak tacos were really good, with a nice portion. Meat had nice flavor, as did the aioli. No surprises with this dish, I mean steak tacos is self explanatory. The mushroom empenada was fantastic. Very rich, and filling. Just baked out of the oven with a perfect brown on the bread. Excellent flavor. Instead of the rosemary aioli, I had the mango jalapeño spread to dip into. Fantastic. Definitely coming back. Food took a bit to come out, but this isn't a fast casual dump. Neon Sun has an eclectic, world culture vibe to it with the decor. It's got comedy nights and tarot card readings at times, so you can enjoy your dinner while being entertained. The food is phenomenal for such a small, hard to find place. I tried their ceviche--it had shrimp, scallop, and dragonfruit in a citrus base. It was SO delicious and refreshing. Probably one of the best places I have tried for ceviche. My friends all ordered food and really loved what they ordered. And someone mentioned their partner got the barbecued oysters last time and thought it was fantastic. Go! You won't be disappointed. Parking is on the street. read more

This weekend my friend tells me it's no excuse time they're open for brunch. So I came and checked it out...and boy am I glad I did. The owner and wait staff were very accommodating, and helped us find just the right table (my husband is short waisted, so he needs a higher chair or lower table). What a cozy little spot! If you're looking for a quiet meal in a comfortable environment, this is your place. They have a small but diverse menu of delicious food. We ordered the cucumber carpaccio which was unexpectedly flavorful and refreshing. You don't think of cucumbers being w, and it's not, but this is a pleasant appetizer to start. I ended up with the spring noodles modified for a gluten allergy, which was pretty good. They don't serve alcohol here, which is a really nice touch. But if you bring your own bottle, they will provide glasses and a pour. We were served by the chef on the night that we dined here. There was a small staff, but everyone was really friendly. If you want the feeling of eating in someone's living room, but with privacy, I'd recommend giving this place a try. read more

The couscous was probably my favorite as well as the beef dip. The warm salad was tasty. The noodle salad was a vermicelli salad. My personal taste is that the carrot was a bit strong. I think it was in fish sauce which I like but a bit strong for me and my friend. The vibes are nice in the restaurant. The decorations seem to be from all over the world. The seating is different. My friend was sitting on a daybed while I was on a long wooden bench. The utensils and napkins were even interesting to look at. Each dish was served individually which I wasn't expecting. Service took about an 1:15. My friend and I could have stopped at 3 dishes but went with 4 and were a little stuffed. I hope this place continues as this area does not have anything like it. The people who own and run it are so passionate, clearly gifted, and create the best environment and absolutely incredible food. My husband found this on a whim and I was slightly skeptical but the moment I walked in, sold. I wanna give this place 20 stars and this place definitely deserves all of the Michelin stars as well. I took a date here and me and her both agree that this was probably the best meal we've ever had GENUINELY. We had the ceviche scallops and sashimi with a bottle of one of the white wines and the ube cheesecake for dessert . With how elegant everything is from fresh and complex but complimentary ingredients to the plating and ambiance this would cost an arm and a leg anywhere else but this place is affordable and more than fair in their pricing. The ambience and service is so welcoming, friendly, and comfy while also remaining chic as hell. I wanna attempt to try everything I can here. Holy wowza! This place was an absolute stunner of a 10 out of 10. The ambience and just the layout of this place is super comfortable and a very intimate dining experience. It has this very Mystic/spiritual and hippie vibe. We had spent a good two hours here it's a very laid-back experience where you can enjoy and speak with your group. You're not rushed to order, and the waitress that we had was serving the entire restaurant there's not that many spots to sit as it is a smaller location, but it's very much worth the wait if you do have to wait. There's about five tables. And like a small bar type area as well. But our waitress really handled everything so well explaining the menu very knowledgeable about everything very considerate about food, allergies. Because I'm allergic to egg to the point where I need an EpiPen. And for the first time in ages, I was actually able to eat ice cream because it didn't have egg in it. I got the albacore sashimi, my group, and I had gotten some barbecue oysters and some mussels. Everything was so fresh and stunning. Not only aesthetically pleasing, but, absolutely cooked to perfection nothing was rubbery, nothing was overcooked. I didn't even get a picture of the ice cream because we dug in immediately but they have a PB&J ice cream and a plantain Brulé ice cream. And out of both of them the plantain Brûlée was the most amazing ice cream I've ever had in my life and I said "oh my fucking God." I will definitely be back here if I'm visiting San Pedro because I'm visiting from Washington and my sister lives in San Pedro. But this might be a reason to visit more. Also prices for the quality of the food that you're getting and just the overall experience, and ambience, you really do get the most bang for your buck. I wanted something tasty but unlike anything I can grab and dash home. I wanted something light but filling. Found this gem in my neck of the woods. Everything was amazing. Especially those that served me. Started with the mussels and oysters. Best I've ever had. Plump mussels and flavorful oysters started things right. Went with the couscous for the main dish. First time having pearl pasta. Instant fan. Shrimp was delicious and the asparagus and prosciutto were excellent additions. Alas there was something at fault. And I was to blame. I should've gotten a dozen of the oysters and mussels. Coming back next week for more. I encourage you to do the same. read more

We spent the morning playing at the tide pools and I was craving seafood after smelling that salty ocean water all AM. I saw The Neon Sun has amazing reviews on yelp and decided to go for it! We were able to find street parking and were the only ones at the restaurant when we arrived. We ordered the burrata, beef dip and a dozen oysters. The burrata was extremely underwhelming, i would not order again. It was a log of burrata with some garnishes on top but it really just tasted like a bland block of cheese. The oysters were very very small but delicious. The beef dip was also divine with the au jus on the side. I knocked one star off because the wait for the food was quite long. Its also my personal preference to not use those types of cloth napkins, they didn't feel clean to me. The staff was very friendly. If we didnt' find street parking, im not entirely sure where else we could've parked so parking might be rough. read more

Neon Sun was listed and had a unique menu that I knew I had to try, and looking at their Instagram Account, the Cucumber Carpaccio was the menu item that drew me in. Cucumber Carpaccio - 5/5 - Nice thin slices of cucumber with carrots, onions, rice vinegar and dill. The Dill really did it for me. Ceviche- 5/5 - Excellent. My favorite item on the menu. First time for me to have a sweet-citrus flavor, with Mint, Kiwi and Dragon Fruit. This was a Flavor Explosion in my mouth, a Foodie delight. Cheese & Charcuterie - 5/5 - I don't think anyone can dislike Iike Cheese and a Cured Meat Board. Very generous serving, served with olives & nuts.
